let's see... one year a guard girl had topass through me and another trumpet player and hit us both every time we did that set at practice(never at a competition somehow) that same year i was told by the bds that i was too far up and to go back next run so i did and ran into the tenor player's drums. then we had this move where we did a diamond and passed through other people and every time i got hit in the ribs. and this other guard girl got me in the back of the leg as i turned around like every run

About 30 times or so. And surprisingly enough all of them but one were my own fault for catching the flag incorrectly. Bah.

I'm in pit and I was hit twice in the same day at practice. I was standing on the side lines and all of a sudden a flag is thrown into the backs of my legs because they had to switch flags really fast and one was behind me. Then I was hit by the next flag because she was too close to the side lines. I was hit in the back of the head.

The scariest experience for me in band wasn't a hit but a series of near-hits...we had this weird maneuver where I had to weave through trombones and tubas backwards and sideways and every which way, missing them by inches. I was convinced I was going to die that day. I've been hit plenty of times though. Oh, and I totally forgot about this video! A guy from our band, hitting a guy...not from our band. It makes me laugh every time. Watch it here smile

i didnt necessarily get hit but in this one thing a color gaurd member had to go between me (a trombone) and a trumpet and we didnt leave enough space for her to get by (because she was doing one of those moves that needs space) we ended up getting yelled at and told that one of us had to scoot over or she was gonna hit us purposely it worked she always had enough room after that than another time during band camp we were on the field without instruments and the drum section leader was doing his crab wrong and ended up falling flat on his face it was kinda funny cause it made him go from im the best kind of attitude thats extremely annoying to crap i messed up and nobody else did

Eeeek. Um. freshman year? I apologize to all the trumpets and trombones that I hit with my flag. If it's any consolation, I've hit myself with the flag way more. xd

Oh gosh it's been four years now, I do think it may have happened a couple of times. Had this really tricky drill where I had to march backwards through a group of four clarinets. Although I believe we all did pretty well to prevent any disasters, it may have happened a few times during practices.
Now I do remember that at Super Regionals my shako got hit. It was a bit scary for me because I had a faulty shako where the place to put the plume was broken, so we had to bend the bottom of the plume to make it fit in until I finally got a new shako shortly before the end of the season. Well I was really scared that it was going to fall out during the rest of that performance. D:

I've only hit myself. I hit a couple of people though. I brought my flag down really hard on my friend, Brooke's, flute and left a scratch in it and I jabbed a girl named Kami right in the shoulder.

In our cadence for parades and stuff, we do a spin, riiight? Well, I play bari sax, one of the longer instruments in the band. Last year I played alto, so this spin wasn't a big deal. But now that I play bari, I have to tuck my instrument in when I play and like turn it sideways. Nobody told me until I almost hit one of our bass clarinets in the face.

Freshman year during basics. It was too wet to use the field so we did basics on the tennis court. Everyone had steps that were huge and ended up smashing everyone into the back fence.
