Samantha

Sam thought about it as she looked at the ice cream then at the dolls she had in her blanket. Before, she set the ice cream down on the table and held her hand out. "Ok...but what do they eat? Can they eat dinner with us?" Before she took hold of his hand and began to walk with him up to he toy room.

"Daddy is making chicken nuggets and mac-n-cheese for dinner. Doll like mac-n-cheese?" She asked a little confused as she looked down at the dolls she had in her blanket. "Can we ummm give them baths and then make them look cute in clothes. An fix their hair?"

Olivia waited hopefully as the two children negotiated. Surely now they would be able to avoid being covered in ice cream! She tried not to let herself get too hopeful. As she dwelt on the situation at hand, Olivia was suddenly shamefully aware that she had forgotten about whatever it was that had happened in the other room, and now Moshi was standing there, obviously wounded. She wondered which of the other dolls still in the room he had had to defend, and what they might see when they got back to the dollhouse. Would there be torn clothes, arms pulled out of sockets, torn out hair? She suddenly wasn't all that sure that she wanted to be back in the room, seeing the aftermath of whatever Alec had been doing to one or more of the dolls. She knew that Moshi would have tried to prevent the dolls from being damaged, but sometimes things still happened anyway - like when he wasn't around, or when Alec overpowered him, or when the children's father was away. Moshi couldn't watch them all the time ...

He walked with her up into the doll room, smiling at her words, laughing softly. He shook his head slowly. "Dollies don't eat real people food, but I'll make you a deal. Tomorrow after school we can make dollie food out of paper and every night before we have dinner they can have dinner, okay?" he asked, smiling down to her. Alec stood in the doorway of their bedroom, giving him a warning glance as the two passed.

When inside the toy room he closed the door, gently taking the dolls from the blanket. "Yeah, we can clean them up and give them some clean clothes... but let's not put the guys in dresses again," he said with a smile, leaning down and kissing the girl's forehead. "You wait here and I'll get a bowl with some warm water so we can clean all of them off." He then stepped out of the room after setting the dolls back in the home.

»»» 'Thank you Moshi! And Samantha for being a good girl!' Bartleby felt extremely better now. 'I'm going to play the piano tonight for sure!' And then he thought for a moment. If they were going to wash them, are they going to strip them down to nothing? 'Ahahaha... Dear God...'

Samantha

Sam nodded and smiled because she thought it be fun to make food out of paper for the dolls. She let Moshi have her blanket for a minute then she took it back hugging it close to her body. The reason she loved that blanket so much was it belonged to her mother. Who, Sam didn't have a chance to meet really because she was still a baby when she died. So, she kind of used it as a substitute for her mother at times.

She was also a little sad though when he said she couldn't dress the boys in dresses. Sam sat down now with her blanket draped over her body. Looking at the dolls and she began to somewhat move the furniture around a bit. Kind of like remodeling. Though, she picked the piano up and inspected it a little and began to wonder how they made it so small.

Alarmed at the thought of being bathed in the presence of another doll, Olivia's thoughts were in a whirl. With Bartleby there ... if she could have blushed, she would have been beet red from head to foot. "That's it, I am going to die - I'll never be able to be in the same room with him again!" she thought frantically. "Whatever happens, I won't be able to close my eyes, and neither will he. What am I going to do?! I'm going to have to practically have some sort of out-of-body experience to live through this ... It'll have to be like - when you stare at something without seeing it. I'll focus my thoughts on chess or poetry or something. I'll focus on remembering the words to that poem I read last week - that will help. I won't see anything. I can't count on not being seen, but I definitely won't see anything ... at all ..."

Rytogu

-gazing at Samantha longingly-
~ A dress huh? Girl would you have fun witht me and my Kimino's ~
It was mere speculation, maybe the girl would notice his dress-like garnment and play with him
~ You can be a tad bit rough with me I don't much care, come on play with me and my pretty little, urm, man dress? ~
He noticed Samantha had the same eyes as the girl from long ago, this saddened him as he instantly thought of being taken away again, He only hoped for attention from this girl, the two boys didn't much interest him, though he owed Moshi his life on more than one occasion and kinda had grown some attachment to his protector. He still only truely soughtt attention from the girl, he couldn't understand why he longed her so much, he could only think of the girl from the past and how she never even once got to touch him. Emotions were still a mystery to him, having never had them explained to him what they were before he had carried on his life in confusion.

Samantha

Sam was done re arranging things and she was happy with what she did. Then she got into the clothes for the dolls and looked through all of the clothes. Noticing that some of them looked interesting besides the dresses like the kimono's. She liked the swirly patterns and she pulled one out that was a deep blue color. With swirls of yellow in it it also had a few cherry blossoms on it. Holding it up she began to see what one it would best on. Holding them out close to each doll and she noticed that they didn't look good on any of them. Except the one that looked like a samurai and, he was already wearing a dress like this.

Tilting her head she was a little confused why a boy would be wearing a dress. Didn't Moshi tell her that boys didn't wear dresses. "Maybe I should change him into normal boys clothes?" She said but, she really did like the blue dress she held in her hand. She wondered if there was anything that went with it.

Rytogu

~ Oh my, she has my Kimino and shes staring at me, WHAT TO DO, uh .. UHH! ~
The prospect of being played with was new to him, he starting freaking out like he had to make some kind of impression upon her, his thoughts running wild with excitment
He could feel a smile wanting to form on his face, he knew then it was only hours til night fall as the life was starting to simmer inside of him
~ Finaly, it's closing in on us, I'll get to hear music again. ~

Samantha

"Ok!" Samantha said out loud as she set all of the dolls down on the floor in front of her. Setting out the outfits that she wanted them to wear when they got their baths. First she grasped hold of the samurai looking one and set him down with the kimono in front of him. "You can wear that even if Moshi says you cant." She said with a giggle next she grasped hold of Olivia and set her down next to Rytogu. She dug through the clothes before she pulled out a very puffy blue dress and matching shoes. "Ummm I like this dress I hope you do to..."

Next she set Bartleby down next to Olivia and she frowned a little looking at Olivia for a second. Before she dug through the clothes again and held up two outfits. One was a tux and the other was jeans, wife beater, and a brown leather jacket. "What do you two think he should wear this one or that one?" Though, suddenly it dawned on her that she never gave them names.

After a moment, it dawned on her, they weren't in the kitchen anymore. Moshi had put them back in the dollhouse, but now Samantha was playing with them on the floor... Her thoughts had been in such a flurry of fearful anticipation at being bathed with the other dolls that she hadn't even noticed the change of scene.

"Well, I'm back in the toy room, anyway," she said, breathing a sigh of relief that, if or when any joint bathing of dolls was going to occur, it would not be now - she was safe from that at the moment. How she hoped that this whole notion of bathing would be forgotten! But if it was going to happen, maybe they'd bathe the dolls individually. Or maybe, at least, by gender. Anything other than having to be bathed with male dolls in the same bowl of water was fine with Olivia.

"I should be used to this by now," she thought, but realized she would never get used to it. She had some vague idea of humans having this sort of protective modesty about their bodies too, but she also knew that dolls were just objects to them. Even the nicest child wouldn't think twice about stripping down all their dolls for bathing at once and putting them all into a bowl, basin, or tub together. "Let it be night soon, let it be night soon ..." she chanted in her thoughts. Maybe, they'd give up this "bathing" idea and she would be able to make a dash for the checker set and her bedroom once she was able to move.

She was kind of disappointed, because she had been hoping to play a game with someone before all this embarassing stuff had happened. If she could manage to overcome her feelings of humiliation, she would like to stay in the parlor with the other dolls and read or play games while listening to Bartleby play "Peter & the Wolf."

... or maybe not ... they were going to be changed ... in front of each other ... Olivia inwardly cringed in embarassment and began to recite multiplication tables in her head to try to steady her nerves and focus on something less embarassing.

»»» 'I don't want to see. I wish I was blind. That's horrible Bartleby!' He thought to himself. He began humming in his mind. Just a random, made up tune. 'Maybe I'll lie and say I saw nothing if they ask...' He wasn't one for lying, but for this maybe. Then again, how can he not see anything? It's not like he could shut his damned eyes! Nor could he focus on something and just stare at it. Usually when children dress dolls, it's not like they can hold them straight in place. Maybe that would be good, and he'd see less. But everybody could still see him. There were a ton of things wrong with this. Not like he could stop it.

'Samantha, just put us away and find something better to do with your life! That's harsh Bartleby, she's just a little kid. Yeah, but she doesn't understand! Of course she doesn't, we're just dollies to her. Wow.' He thought. Having conversations with himself in his mind was normal. How could you not when you're stuck frozen all day?

When she ran out of multiplication tables to do in her head (she had learned them from a math textbook on the bookshelf), she started trying to remember the list of prime numbers ... "Divisible only by the number one and itself ... let's see ... 2 ... 3 ... 5 ... 7 ... 11 ... 13 ..." This knowledge was also from the math textbook, and how glad she was now that this information had stuck in her mind. She determined to look for poems to memorize when night fell tonight. She wanted to have a good stock of such distracting meditations on hand for situations like these. They had only been in the house about a month, and this horror was somehow still as fresh every time it happened even though they'd been going through it for awhile now. Their first and only other owner had not done this sort of thing to them. Sure, she had played with the dolls, but she hadn't pulled groups of them out like this to be changed all at once. The girl had taken only one doll out of the house at a time for changing, and bathing, and that was what they had all been used to. In contrast, this "normal" way of playing with dolls seemed barbaric. But they all knew that they were nothing more than toys to the oldest child and youngest child of the family who now owned them.

He knew that she was just a child, that he couldn't blame her for wanting to play with the dolls in such a manner a child would. He himself was much to old to be playing with dolls, but he couldn't leave them alone, he needed them almost as much as they needed him. He stepped into the kitchen, grabbing a large bowl from the cupboard, filling it with warm water before grabbing a wash cloth.

He then moved back upstairs, Alec having moved into their bedroom, leaving Moshi alone for now. He stepped into the toyroom, closing the door before setting the bowl beside the house. He sat beside his younger sister, observing the outfits she had chosen. "Nicely done, I think they'll look wonderful after this," he said with a smile to the girl. He then thought of something, "these two are boys, and these ones are girls," he murmured to her, gesturing to the dolls, "I don't think the girl dolls want to see the boy dolls without clothes..." He stuck his tongue out in a childish manner like he used to, "and I know the boys don't want to see the girls like that either. Let's put the boys back in the house with their backs to the girls while we clean and dress them, and then do the same with the girls when it's the boy's turn."
