"Promise?" He paused looking down at the ground. "No I'm not going to promise anything. You want the truth don't you? Truth is I'm feeling like a rotten starburst right now, gooey and sour."He forced his eyes into Addie's.
"The police can't do anything. They won't be able to trace my copy cat, hes too smart. He knows all about how I kill, how sterile I make sure everything is...no fingerprints no hairs, no scuffle so none of my blood...he even used the same type of knife."
He bit his bottom lip. "The seperation between my and the p***y cat is our age difference in victims. Both relate to halloween...I kill adults for their detatchment, he killed a kid because a kid was closer to halloween..." He snapped standing up.
"He has it all wrong, all wrong wrong wrong." Aaron was a serial killer, so it was remarkably easy for him to figure out the mind of his copy cat.
"Do you know what that means Addie? Do you?" He was thinking alloud, had been the whole time.
"I can promise now, okay. I promise I won't get mixed up with the copy cat." He nodded. "He'll just get mixed up with me."
And Jack new how to carve a pumpkin.

She listened to him, biting her lip so hard she could taste blood by the end of his rant.
"This is bullshit Aaron! Bull ******** s**t. You hear me?" She shook her head. "I can't do this," She rose to her feet, looking down at him before throwing her hands in the air and practically speaking at the sky.
"You don't know who he is. If the ******** cops can't find him, neither can you. This is all crap." She shook her head, her brown locks flipping in the wind as she looked back at him.
"You can't do this. If you do.. I.. I just can't." Her lip trembled as she spoke, her chest rising and falling faster.
"I knew this was.. bad. Just awful. And you.. And I .. we can't."
She wasn't making any sense.
"I wish you would just end this. Tell me you love me more than anything and just take off to somewhere far ******** away from here so we can be happy. But no, this whole Jacko killer s**t means more to you than I ever ******** will."
Addie's eyes were wild with pain and frustration.
She turned. "I'm done. I have to be. For my sake."
But would she ever be done? No. Soon enough, she was sure, Aaron would have her back around his pretty little fingers.

She had exploded, but Aaron figured she would have known better.
"Done? You're never done Addie, ever." He raised his eyebrows to give a calm listen to me look. "If you ran away, I'd be able to find in you two weeks tops, even if you were moving around. What makes you think p***y cat can't do that two?"
He crossed his arms. "What makes you think he's not going to hunt you down to get to me, to have me go crawing to him begging to get you back? Look at what he did to my little boy. Imagine what he'll do to someone I care about most?"
This was dangerous and Aaron saw every possible outcome. That was a posibility right there among a few other things.

Addison's eyes closed. She bit down so hard on her lip. "Thats not fair." She felt her stomach clench again.
"Thats.." She turned slowly around to look at him again.
"You'd beg to get me back?" Her voice was full of doubt. And she was terrified.
"Dammit Aaron. You see what you did?" She shook her head, her arms crossing tightly under her chest and squeezing.
Yeah. He might as well have gutted that kid out himself. It was his fault he was dead.
And if this 'p***y cat' killed her, that'd be on him too.
But he didn't feel guilt, so would he even care?
"What am I supposed to do? Sit at home and wait for him to get me?" Tears were sliding down her cheeks and her knees were going weak.

"No, no I never said he'd do it for sure..." He tried to explain as he tensed once the rears spilled from her eyes.
"Listen Addie I'm trying to tell you you can't run away. It's not safe for you to be with anybody but me or the police...and people have been killed in police custody before anyway." He walked cautious about gently holding her forarms.
"I'm saying I'll protect you, but this is going to be really hard okay."
The sirens could be heard and honestly, it was about time.

Addison shook her head. "If he was going to go after me if I ran off then ... I mean. Whats stopping him either way?" Yeah! She couldn't form sentences right now for her life.
She fell into his arms though, when Aaron came up to her. "I don't want hard. I'm sick of complicated. I want you, just you and me. No more of this killing s**t." Her face turned to sob into the crook of his neck.
But she fell silent as she heard the sirens approaching them. Then moments later, a rush of people came at them. But she didn't move. Couldn't move.

The siren boomed and like a tsunami washing over an island, the police englufled the two connected by a hug.
"Is everyone okay? Are you okay?"
"Make sure nobody leaves."
"Send in the CSI"
"Hnadcuffs? NO! They're shaken!?"
"Two suspects!"
"What's happening!?"
And then the nost prominant voice rang out.
"Jack."

Someone said it.
No, it wasn't jack. It was copy cat Jack.
"Aaron?" She looked around, but there was just too many people on the scene.

This was one of those times Aaron was really happy he had low levels of testostrone. He didn't exactly look like a cold blooded killer, and he knew how to be cute when he had to be.
Even if he was a twenty two year old man....
Addie had been taken awa form him in the comotion and she was screaming he could hear that, but Aaron figured he'd play a different card.
His blue eyes were wide, fear struck, worried, overhwlemed and confused. His black hair all choppy in the front framed his face just right and he froze looking around at the people coming towards him.
His lip quievered slightly.
He looked like he was the victim. Like had just undergone a serious assult and was saved by like, batman or something!
Thank you girly genetics!
The police who either were sympathetic, tired...or just really confused by Aaron's innicent appearance lead him over to the cop cars where he was happy to find Addie.
"We're going to take you two in for questioning alright. We need you to come down to the station and after that we'll see what happens."
Down to the station, that was inevitable, but it didn't mean Aaron was happy about it!

Addison leaned against the car that she was placed by.
Okay, she had looked like hell all day but she knew she looked worse by now.
And finally Aaron was by her side.
Questioning? Okay. Calm.
Addie breathed in slowly as she turned to get into the cop car. She looked up at Aaron as she sat in the back.
"Oh, no. You're in this one." He pointed to another one for Aaron.
"Wait," She muttered, but the guy shut the door in her face and a lady cop got in the drivers seat.
"Why do we have to go seperatly?" The lady in front rolled her eyes. "You're suspects."
Wow. What an answer.
Addison sat back, sighing heavily. She knew the answer, of course, but still! That didn't mean she was happy about that fact.

Addie didn't look very thrilled when they had to be seperated.
He could understand the feeling.
Well he wanted to make his girl happy!
So, Aaron being Aaron, worked his magic.
"Alone? But whatd does being a suspect have to do with that? You guys are smart, you're the police after all, if we were trying anything you see it."
Flattery, that was how you wrapped officials around your fingers.
The man twisted his face mulling it over.
"Please, I knew that little guy---I've known him since he was a baby..." He looked down, his bags covering his eyes as Aaron's lip quivered.
The female police officer melted, Aaron was too ******** cute.
"Yeah it's fine, get in together."
SCORE
Aaron noded still playing the sad card.
He scootched in next to Addie and quickly put his arm around her.

Addison was slouching in the backseat when the door opened. She winced, until she realized it was Aaron. Then she quickly moved into his arms and tilted her head to rest on his shoulder.
"I thought.. I mean.. They said.." Did it even matter? The car was moving and she sniffled.
"I don't like this Aaron. Its sick.. how could someone be so damned awful? He was a baby still.." She muttered softly. Okay, part of it was for show. But most of it was just rambling because she was upset and couldn't stay quiet.

"I know Addie." He started before taking a long inhalation. "I don't know why this happened. I don't understand how someone could find a little kid and cut them open...and they have to have taken his family...."
He sounded devestated and in some strange way he was, but the corcks and screwes of his brain were twisting around trying to come up with answers.
Why take the whole family too?
Hopefully they had a great detective on the case because Jack never took in people, he just killed them.
The copy cat, well he had a compelty different motive.

Thick silence held in the air until they arrived at the station.
The female cop helped them out of the car, but her hand remained in Aarons. She was not letting him go until she absolutely had to.
"You two will have to split up inside," Addison just nodded, following them inside.

He held her hand the whole walk into the building, and even after they stepped foot inside, Aaron kept Addie's hand in his.
This would be hard. They'd get questioned, an god forbid if they had different stories. Well in theory they would both say they were at Addie's house and had been cuddling/making out...which is what they had been doing for the past hour anyway.
They whole part about him scaring her with the knife, that ought to be left out.
Oh and his newfound diagnosis, that better be left out too.
The police inside the building all stopped to watch them come in. They were being escorted by eight cop cars, they better be important.
It probably helped that they were kids. Well "kids". Surely being over eighteen made them adults, but people tended to be disconvinced of a crime is the supposed suspects were young.
Lucky for them with a few touches here and there they could look fresh out of high school.
Well, sort of.
Aaron didn't exactly feel comfortable inside a police station.
They'd get a warrant and search his house.
But ever since he had found out Addie knew everything, Aaron had hidden the notes and knife in a much more secret place.
Like, somewhere not even in his house.
Ugh this was a mess.
