Ssu took a step back at Mikaril's startled waking. The last thing she wanted was to have the healer need to stitch up a dagger wound on top of tending the ill male. A battle sense was not to be unexpected in a male after all, and she was more surprised that Mikaril did not reach for his weapon as he rose. She withdrew then, as the healer pressed forwards to see to the male in her bed. Her part in this was now over, she had nothing more to do then to get these males out of her wagon.
Still...her amber red eyes fell on Mikaril and she watched him keenly through his interaction with Kyil. So odd. So strange. This male..what was it about him? It was only as Mikaril trailed off and looked in such a manner at Kyil that it slightly clicked. He acted like a surfacer. Well, in a way. Ssu had seen pleanty of humans, and their interactions seemed in kind to the way Mikaril was acting now. Well, she supposed that comparing him immediatly to a surfacer was sort of cruel. Had she mentioned that aloud she was sure his drow heritage would flourish at that moment. Hnnn... Sense when did drow possess those human like traits? What had transpired between these two that caused it to be born? Ssu shifted around her wagon until she was closer to Mikaril. With one hand she idely twisted her robes ties while the other lifted to brush back her hair.
Kyil felt a little light headed as he stirred on the bed. As Mikaril spoke to him, he glanced up and smiled faintly. "I... was feeling a little better. But my stomach feels upset again and my head feels like it is pounding some. The bed is lovely though and I feel every ache so much more acutely for some weird reason..." Kyil lifted his hand and rubbed at his eyes for a moment before he turned to look between the healer and Mikaril. The stern looking female nodded her head and knelt down beside him. Without a word she reached forwards and grasped Kyil by his jaw. He was surprised by her straitforward manner. The healer pulled his lips open and peered into his mouth area.
"Hmm. No swelling." The healer spoke before instering a slender wood stick into his mouth. Kyil felt her poking at his tongue, and she moved it up and down. It was only when he made a slight gagging sound that she withdrew the stick and laid it to the side. "Your gums show no irritation. Your tongue is not numb or tender. There is no redness or discoloration." She continued on while pulling Kyil's head forwards. He found himself subjected to the slightly bony pokings of her fingers as she felt along his throat and then reached up to peel his eyelids back a little. He stared into her red eyes mutely and with much confusion.
The healer lifted her hand and gestured towards Mikaril. "I need to see these things you ate with him. It is possible he is merely suffering a allergic reaction to something. Still..." She tilted her head and reached forwards to slip a hand under Kyil's armpit. Kyil made a small sound of surprise and twitched as the healer pressed in against the soft flesh. "Hmmmm...."

Even though he was practically overflowing with concern for his friend, Mikaril didn't fail to observe Ssussun getting closer to him. He felt himself break out in a slight sweat; he supposed being so close to a female made him nervous. It was so easy to imagine her getting closer and closer to him, stealthily pulling out a dagger and giving him a good thrust in the back or through a lung. Then it would just be a matter of getting rid of his sick friend in a likewise fashion, leave the healer to clean up the mess, and then go about her day. This one isn't like that, he assured himself, if she had wanted to hurt you and Kyil, she would have done it already; she does tricks with fire. She could have done what Hael loved to do and burned us both from the inside out, but she didn't. Why, I don't know, but..... He took a deep breath and forced himself to ignore the presence behind him and concentrate on Kyil.
It didn't become too terribly hard when the healer began to see to him. His eyes widened with concern as the female grabbed his friend and looked down his mouth as though observing a prize riding lizard, and when he saw Kyil gagging on the wooden stick, he actually held up his hand and was in the process of voicing a protest until she began speaking again; then he quieted to listen to her observations. From what it sounded like, with the lack of discoloration or irritation, it sure didn't sound like either poisoning OR an allergic reaction. He knew that allergies could make you swell up and poisons could turn you colors, but if neither of those were there, then what in the Underdark was ailing poor Kyil?
He blinked suddenly as the healer asked to see samples of what they had eaten the night before. He recalled that they had finished the fish; there was still some bread left, but he hadn't thought to bring it along. Suddenly he remembered; the wine! He had brought the bottle along with him in case it might be used for something, like a bribe or a means of barter; it hadn't occured to him to check the wine, especially since like the food, he had had some and suffered no ill effects. He pulled out the bottle, watching the contents slosh around inside. It looked as though it had barely been touched. The strange symbols were still clearly marked on the wrapping. He held it out to the healer rather insistently, hoping that it would distract her enough for her to cease poking Kyil so strongly in the armpit. "We ate all of the food we had, but we did both drink some of this. It was from a....relative's wine cellar, and I'm afraid I can't remember which of us selected it. Between the two of us, I think we only had about a goblet and a half apiece; Kyil probably drank less than I did. Perhaps he's had some reaction to it?"

He was flushed, she assumed from nervouseness. She knew he had to be aware of her edging in closer to him. After all, they were in a fairly small wagon, there was little way for movement. Still, his eyes remained set on his friend. Well that was fine. It wasn't like she was trying to get him to look at her..or was she? Actually she found herself taken aback with the strange realization that...despite the ample opportunities, Mikaril had not once attempted to catch a glance down her nightgown. He had not yet let his eyes sweep over her curves...maybe she was too covered up?
Inwardly she wanted to laugh at herself. Day after day, she turned away males for paying that kind of attention to her. She laughed off and avoided inappropriate grabs and smacks while inwardly seething with indignation. She did not like the constant sex hungry look in the males that flocked around her as she performed. That was why she wreathed herself in flame so often really. No male was going to risk burnt hands just to possibly cop a feel. Yet now, when faced with a strange acting male that paid her body no heed...she was getting upset about that? The flames must be addling her brain finally. She was boiling and burning all the common sense from herself. It was a sudden yelp from her bed that drew her attention back to the males at hand.
Kyil endured the less then tender handling of the healer without protest. She pressed into the soft flesh of his arm pit to feel something up in there. He was no student of medicine and healing, though he knew much about the body. He suspected she was feeling out the small nodes that would at times swell as a sign of illness. Calli had taught him to feel for them as well when applying massages to relieve bodily pain. One could not massage away a illness after all! Still, this healer was more harsh then was neccessary. Mikaril was in the process of digging through his bag when the healers hands slipped under the blanket and lower then he was comfortable. Her fingers dug into the lower section of his belly to feel around...that was..well..acceptable for a healer...but when her hand strayed lower to touch something that had nothing at all to do with inspecting him for a sign to what was wrong with him..well..Kyil could not help but yelp. "Ah-nyah!" He called out and his body jerked under the covers away from the offending hand..
The healer herself merely smirked at Kyil's reaction to her little indulgance, and she turned to snap the wine bottle from Mikaril. She paused for a second as she caught sight of Ssu's very dissapproving glare. "What?" She asked with feigned innocence, then she peered down at the bottle. For the priestess, it only took her a few minutes of study for a particularly unpleasent grin broke over her lips. "Well now...this explains everything."
Wordlessly she uncorked the bottle and tilted it towards her nose to take a faint sniff at the contents. Kyil turned a uncertain look towards Mikaril while shifting back in the bed to get a touch more distance between himself and the healer.
"Well?" Ssu prompted the healer with a slight edge to her voice. She wasn't...certain exactly why, but she had not cared at all for what the healer had done. Well yes she did. It was because she had been the target of such touchs herself in the past. Of course she was not going to be happy with such going on in her very own bed!
The healer re-corked the bottle and tilted it so she could eye the bottom of the bottle. There she lifted a finger and pointed to a spider looking image formed into the very glass itself. "This is not just a bottle of wine. You two fools have drank from a Blessed bottle." The healer's smile grew wider and the laughter crept back into her voice as she held the bottle back towards Mikaril. "Congradulations, you two males have been Blessed by Lloth. She has placed a seed into your attractive friend. Your going to be fathers. Good luck with that."

If Mikaril was only the least bit flushed at the presence of the alluring female behind him, it was nothing compared to the sudden rush of heat that seemed to blaze behind his eyes as he looked up in time to see Kyil inching away from the healer with a slightly panicked look and the healer pulling her hand out from under the covers with a smirk to snatch the bottle away. Seeing where she had withdrawn her hand, it didn't take a genious to figure out what had happened to his friend. His eyes narrowed in anger; just because she was a female, she had no right to take advantage of her patients in such a way! He had been so eager to pay her for her trouble; now all he wanted to do was tear that foul claw from her arm and ram it into the resulting bleeding stump. This was NOT why he had wanted a healer for his friend! He was no expert at healing, but he definitely knew enough to see that whatever was ailing Kyil, it had nothing to do with that part of him. He felt a momentary flash in front of his eyes as he remembered how he had been strapped down in Hael's playroom, how helpless he had felt in nothing but his skin. And to have a stranger take advantage of Kyil in such a similar fashion.....it was more than he could stand.
He took a step forward angrily, his hand reaching for his dagger and almost wishing he had flung the bottle at her smug face instead of merely handing it to her. "What the Hell do you think you're doing?! There's nothing wrong with him there!!" He could hear the edge in Ssu's voice behind him, and it fueled his daring; if he had the mistress of the wagon on his side, surely something would be done about this. "You supposed to be helping, not taking advantage of sick people! You're damn lucky I don't-!" He cut himself short as he saw the healer gesturing toward the bottle, wanting to hear the possible diagnosis even if his opinion of her as a competant healer had lessened considerably. He didn't understand the wide grin on the female's face any more than he understood the words that went with them. A blessed bottle? How could it possibly be blessed if it made Kyil so ill that he couldn't even fend off the gropings of an insolent old crone of a female? Hearing the laughter in her voice made him tighten his grip on his dagger hilt; he wanted SO badly to smash the hilt right into that laughing mouth and cave in each and every tooth. The act would probably get him killed, for even Ssussun wouldn't be able to overlook such an attack on a female and a member of her circus, but seeing as he was the fool who had brought poor Kyil here in the first place, the least he could do was avenge him for the misdeed, and to Hell with the consequences.
But the healers next words had the same effect on him as him dropping from the ceiling of the Glimmersea and bellyflopping into the water below. He staggered for a moment, eyes wide and mouth half open. He felt both chilled and feverish, and a nameless dread seemed to burrow into his brain and cling to it with painful jabs. A seed.......Kyil had......a seed. How was that possible? Males couldn't-! But this was no ordinary bottle, she had said. Lolth had blessed it, and she had never been one to be selective when it came to relationships among her children. Such pairings weren't uncommon among their kind, and he supposed if a couple of the same gender desired each other THAT much..... He most certainly loved Kyil, though he still wasn't sure it was the kind of love that one usually commemorated with a child. A child! Kyil was with child! A child by the blessing of Lolth...... It was that last thought that made him truly feel sick inside. The Goddess that he had made up his mind had abandoned him and his friend to torment and death; it was her doing. And knowing how much she loved chaos, and how delicate Kyil could be, she had given him something he might not be able to endure. And worst of all, she had used him to carry out her will. The bottle had been from HIS house treasure room, it had been HIS idea to drink it last night. Though having never witnessed a female giving birth, being the youngest of his house, he nevertheless knew enough about it to know that his friend had been condemned by Lolth to go through nine months of pain and discomfort, and then possibly not even survive to see its end.
Mikaril fought to keep the acidic fear out of his expression for Kyil's sake, but he was willing to bet that the stupid female healer could read him like a book. Deciding that he had stood aside quite long enough, he walked quickly over to Kyil and knelt beside him, taking his hand and pulling him slightly towards him and away from the offensive female. "Do you hear that? This must just be what females with child usually go through in the first part of it happening. Every healer in the Underdark knows all about it, and if this bottle was made for these circumstances, then they'll know about that too. We're going to be okay after all." He was determined to put as much sincerity as he could in his words; he did believe that they could find another healer, certainly one less callous and imposing, who would be able to help them. What worried him then was that he knew less about pregnancy than he was willing to let on, and the thought of Kyil trying to give birth in a cave only added to the sick feeling inside of him that he had once again unwittingly put his friend's life in danger.

The healers eyes crinkled with amusement at Mikaril's outrage. Humor writ itself across her features and she casually flipped the hand that she had taken advantage of Kyil with towards him in a dismissive manner. "Oh hush male. You forget your place." She remarked with a smirk in her voice.
"Out...out out." Ssu grumbled at the smirking healer, and thus gaining her a moment of satisfaction as the healers mirth faltered for a second. Now that Kyil's ailment had been discovered, Ssu felt it was best to get the laughing priestess out of the room. Mikaril's outburst had not been something she felt comfortable over, and she had certainly taken note of the reaching for his weapon. She was relieved when the priestess shrugged her shoulders and dropped the bottle upon the bed next to Kyil. She rose, and with a less then concealed laugh, exited the wagon.
Ssu stepped across the wagon to quickly pull the door shut behind the priestess, and slowly turned back to witness Mikaril's upbeat attempt of confidence. He had been quiet..vocal just a few minutes ago. His anger had overshadowed her dissapproval in great strides. She had not even had a moment to really step in and berate the healer for taking advantage of Kyil. Well...she supposed she couldn't blame her. Kyil was lean and pretty. She wouldn't mind rubbing her hand over that naked chest in the least. Of course...the look on Kyils face hardly looked like he would have enjoyed it. No, she couldn't blame the healer in the least...but that did not mean she had to approve. Ssussun watched as Kyil's face flickered with a variety of emotions. He was trying to conceal them..and from the point of view of an actress, she could tell he was quiet skilled at the art of subterfuge. But his control kept breaking it seemed, thus allowing her to catch the glimpses of terror. She could see it in the way his pupils kept trying to widen, and the vein in his neck was throbbing visably as more blood rushed through it then normal, a sure sign his heart rate was up pretty high. That, coupled with a shiney dabbing at his temples and along his foreheads hairline told her his body was expireneiceing quiet the hot flash. Of course, the infared detection of her eyes had easily marked the spike of heat in his body. Yes, that would be the adreniline rushing through him.
He was absolutly terrified. Mikaril though seemed to be showing signs of worry himself..she supposed it made sense.... Ssu glanced at the door she currently was leaning upon and pressed her lips closed firmly.
Kyil himself could not speak. Not right away. The laughter of the female healer was not nearly as upsetting as seeing Mikaril so angry. It felt comforting in a way to have someone take offense for him, but she was a priestess, and Kyil parted his lips to assure Mikaril he was fine. The words died rather quickly on his tonuge. He was not too clear what Lloth would bless a bottle of wine for, not until it was she spoke of seeds and fatherhood. The blanket slipped a bit from Kyil's shoulders as he released it so he could place his hands upon his belly. Only females were strong enough to carry children. Only females were able to bare the burden that came with nurtureing and supporting another life within. They were equipped for it..not males. Not him. Not him...
Kyils fingers tightened into slight claws against his belly as his unease at being groped was quickly replaced with a terror. He was going to die....this thing inside of him was going to grow and he would not be able to take care of it. He'd die..and it would die with him. He was going to be a murderer. Kyil looked at Mikaril as he knelt beside the bed and attempted to speak to him. He heard the words clearly enough, but it was the look in Mikaril's own face that he read far more deeply into. Mikaril was scared to. He knew...he knew it too. He knew that this was not going to end well. He knew that something horrible would come of this. Kyil's hand felt limp and weak in Mikaril's own and the fingers shook unknowingly. He parted his lips a little to attempt and speak something, but for once Kyil's mind was utterly blank. He could not draw up that familar shround of false calm and happiness. It was gone..torn to shreds in the halls of House Torlyl. Left in the smouldering ruins that had once been Haellara's playroom. A adult could no longer force himself to fit into cloths he once wore as a child after all.
Ssu had watched the pair of males silently, but it was when Kyil began to cry that she felt truely uneasy. She shifted from one foot to the other when Kyil pulled his hand from Mikarils to hide his face in his palms. At least he was quiet about it. Had Kyil begun to sob it would have made this whole situation even more awkward. Ssu glanced at the doorhandle beside her and she casually touched the lock into it's place. She doubted the pair were going to bolt out the door, and it was not like they could not just lift the lock out of it's place to leave, but she had no desire to have someone poke their head in to find a crying male in her bed. Ssussun liked the rumors that swirled around her, but she did -not- fancy a rumor springing from that scene popping up.
Ssu shifted to one of the cupboards bolted to the wall of her wagon and she clicked the door open. Inside a collection of small bottles were latched by leather ties in place. Folds of scrap cloth was tucked behind and between the bottles, to lessen the possibility of them jostling against each other and cracking. Ssu lightly tapped her fingers over the bottles and eyed them critically. Five on top, eight on the bottom. She lightly tugged the ties of three bottles, two from the top and one from the bottom, and took them from the cupboard before closeing it. Holding the bottles, she crossed over and wordlessly held out a bottle to Mikaril and took a second to lightly tap the crying Kyil on the shoulder. "Here. Have a drink." She spoke in a low voice, then as a after thought added. "It's just tea and a little sugar root juice. I brew it myself and keep a stash here in case I don't feel like leaving the wagon just to get a drink. I promise theres no magic or anything in it."

When he saw the first sign of tears appearing in Kyil's eyes, Mikaril knew his attempt at comforting his friend had failed miserably. He must not have hidden his fright enough, and Kyil knew his fears because he shared them. He felt Kyil withdraw his hand, and it hurt inside of him as much as though his heart had been attached to that hand. He couldn't lie to his friend and tell him that he was certain it would all be okay, but he couldn't stand not being able to do something, anything, to comfort him. He didn't need to be crying and panicking; he knew that females needed to keep calm when they were this way, and if he was to stand any chance at all of surviving, he had to take care of himself and not do anything taxing. At least the healer was gone, and good riddance.
It unnerved him more than a little that not only was Kyil crying, but he was crying silently, as though still hiding his true fear and anguish from the world. He didn't want his friend to hide it from him; he wanted to share in it, to help bear it, since he was unable to help Kyil bear the small being that was even now growing inside of him. But at the same time, he didn't know if Kyil's pulling away meant that he wanted to carry it all himself. He always was one to try his darndest to shoulder everything all by himself. But Mikaril wanted to remind his friend that he was here, and he wanted to help.
Instead of reaching out to try and take Kyil's head back, Mikaril leaned forward until his head was right beside his friends, and he whispered as gently as he could in Kyil's ear. "Kyil, I would be lying if I told you that I wasn't afraid, and the last thing I want to do is lie to you. But after all that we've been through together, I just know that somehow, we can get through this together as well. I can't say I'm sorry nearly enough times to make up for this, but I swear to you, I'll be right here with you to help you. We'll find a way to see this through to the end, and I swear to you, from my very soul, that I will do everything in my power to ensure that you survive. Lolth will not take you from me; I will not allow it." He made his next whisper even softer. "For as long as we have been friends, for as long as you have called me master even through my protests, I have very seldom asked anything of you. But now that this has happened, I must insist on this one thing, as a master if I must, but preferrably as a teacher and a friend. You must promise to me that in the months to follow, as I am helping you, you must also help yourself. Do not give in to despair or grief, or worry too much about the future. Do not starve yourself or try to do yourself harm to be rid of this. You need to be as strong as you can for what must come. I will find a different healer to attend to you, one who knows about this sort of thing and who has a gentler hand. But please promise me that whatever you do, you won't give up on yourself, that you won't presume yourself to be doomed and make no effort to survive. We'll show Lolth that we don't have to play by her rules anymore. Please Kyil.....will you try?"
Mikaril's head shot up as he heard Ssussun's voice, and he looked at the bottle she offered to him. For obvious reasons, he found himself eyeing the bottle with undisguised suspicion. Gesturing for Kyil to wait a moment, he took a sip from his own bottle, swishing the contents around and swallowing it, then waiting a moment to see if he would keel over or break out in a sweat. When nothing happened, he nodded to Kyil and gestured to him. "I know your stomach probably still hurts, but please try to drink; it will do you some good after losing so much liquid this morning."

Ssu stood and watched as Mikaril spoke so softly to his friend. It boggled her mind. She stared at him consol and beg his apprentice to..well..pretty much think clearly. She tilted her head to one side and merely watched with pursed lips.
Kyil could not help himself. He felt so overcome by fear. He was sick from it. He honestly felt like he was going to be sick again. He felt Mikaril's head lightly touch upon his own, but he did not look up. His tongue was stuck to the roof of his mouth and the tears simply would not stop leaking from his eyes.
Through out Mikaril's heartfelt plea, Kyil could not bring himself to look up. He kept trying to assure him. To calm him and keep him from sinkig into the despair he felt growing inside. It was the final bit of his plea though that finally got Kyil to lower his hands from his face. His pink eyes were rimmed in red with little veins marring the white within. He swallowed a dry and difficult breath. Brave? Him? "I..." He tried to speak, but the words completely died. Mikaril was...frightned...for what he may do. And frightingly enough...Kyil feared that he may do something as well. He felt the tap upon his shoulder by the bottle Ssu was holding out for him and he took it from her without thinking. He waited, as Mikaril would make the warning gesture. His mind was just so very blank. He looked down at the bottle and picked at the waxy sealant that kept the cork in place. As Mikaril would begin to coax him to drink the liquid, he pried the cork out and gace the bottle a disinterested look.
"I will..try..." He spoke with a dull toned voice then lifted the bottle to his lips. It was a fairly small bottle, and after only four swallows it was nearly empty. Perhaps Mikaril had been right. He did need a drink, and the warm tea felt good on his tightened throat muscles.
Ssu watched as both males drank from the bottles, but it was Kyil whom she kept her eyes upon. Hmmm... after he pulled the bottle from his lips, she slipped forwards and waited expectantly. It did not take long at all for the sleep spores within the tea bottle she had given Kyil to begin taking effect. Kyil's eyes became as if lead and they fell closed with a nodding of his head.
"I...feel heavy...." Kyil spoke, but his lips felt much the same as his eyes. Heavy and unresponsive. Ssu reached out to take the bottle from Kyil's hand before it slipped and tipped over onto her bedsheets.
"Best take hold of him before he falls, you do not want him hitting his head on the wood frame." She warned Mikaril.

Mikaril smiled a small smile and nodded as Kyil drank from the preoffered bottle. "We can get through this if we help each other. Remember House Torlyl; we can get through this together the same way, by leaning on each other and relying on the strength of the other when you think your own isn't enough. But I beg you to try." He didn't know what else he could say to convince Kyil any further; it already seemed as though what he was saying now was barely being registered as it was. Still, he supposed it was to be expected. Had it been him carrying the beginnings of a child, he doubted he would be able to hear anything more than his own panicky heartbeat.
"Heavy?" He was about to ask for clarification when heheard Ssussun's warning and he quickly reached out to catch the back of Kyil's head, cradling it gently as he laid it down onto the pillow. He registered Ssussun's taking away of the bottle as though he expected Kyil to suddenly be unable to hold it. Without turning around, he spoke quietly to her. "I sincerely hope that that was only a sleeping potion that you put in that tea. I do not care for your healer, but after your dislike of her actions and your willingness to help us this far, I do think you wouldn't want to harm us unnecessarily. Then again, time and again it's been my thinking that's nearly goten us killed."
He turned around to look at the female, the confusion he felt plain on his face. "But what I don't understand is.....why now? We've seen the healer and figured out what is wrong with Kyil. You could have just given me the potion to give to Kyil once we returned to the cave, but now you will have to wait until he wakes again before we can leave. I cannot carry him out when he is like this; I would be afraid of hurting him." It crossed his mind then that she might have just given Kyil the sleeping potion just for the purpose of watching Mikaril struggle to carry Kyil back to the cave. But he was quick to dismiss it; this female may seem a bit tough, but doubtless the circus life wasn't the easiest, having to stave off eager males constantly and keep a consistent performance. He was certain it was just her way. Still, she could have been rid of them right now, insisting that they had done what they had come for and to leave immediately. Why wasn't she?

Kyil was deep in sleep by the time Mikaril lowered his head to the pillow. His body was limp and his breathing quiet deep in a matter of seconds. Ssu paid Mikaril and Kyil no mind as she recorked the bottle Kyil had imbibed from and returned to the cupboard she had taken it from. She retied the bottle into place along with her own untouched drink before turning to look at Mikaril. His confused expression brought a faint smile to her face. Mikaril looked..rather cute when he was appearing vulnerable.
"You are right. The bottle only had some sleep spores in them. Your apprentice will be fine. Sometimes when there is too much noise going on outside or after a particularly intense show I need a little help getting to sleep. He'll be out for a few hours, then hopefully remain asleep on his own for a while afterwards." She lifted a hand and made a dismissive gesture when answering Mikarils question as to why she had done so.
"He needed it now. Not later. Your friend was showing signs of too much stress, and if he is already baring this pregnacy poorly he needed to calm down before some sort of damage was done. I doubt he'll even remember anything you have said once he wakens." She crossed the small space to where Kyil laid and Mikaril knelt. She placed her hands upon her hips and gazed down at him in a fairly thoughtful manner. "Your both exhausted. Neither of you look like you've had a decent meal in a while. You mention sleeping in a cave so I can only assume you don't have a place comfortable enough for a male that is carrying a child. You have no healer right now to see to your friend, and you have no idea what to expect do you?" Ssussun tilted her red gaze from Kyil to pin it on Mikaril with her stance remaining unchanged.
"You came here to me because you have no allies in the city. I am sure if you did you'd have chosen them over a female you briefly met on the street. Do you even have the money to pay for the services of a healer? Because I can assure you they aren't going to be cheap, and you have months to get through before your apprentice is in the clear. Not to mention the acutal birthing and the period of recovering afterwards if he survives. Do you think you will be able to pay for a healer to see him through all this time? Particularly if the pregnacy turns out to be rough? Do you have some way to keep him safe and protected?" Ssussun arched a brow down at Mikaril as she tilted her head in a almost...knowing way. "I'd be willing to bet you have no means to keep him safe and provide for him at the same time. It's the two of you alone, otherwise I am sure someone else would have come with you. I mean..." She shrugged her shoulders up and then down. "I could be wrong. You could just be waiting on someone. In which case I would almost apologize for drugging your apprentice. But I stand by my original reasoning. He needed to calm down..and I think you need time to think clearly without having to work on keeping him calm yourself."
Ssu removed her hand from her hip and gestured to the bed. "The bed is sturdy enough to hold you two, it just may be a bit cozier then your familar with. Lay down and rest a bit. The doors locked, no one will dare try and enter until I unlock it. I'm going to lay back down and catch a few hours myself before I'm needed for the show. Use this time to figure out what your going to do, because I'm sure there will be few calm opportunities in the future that will allow you to do so."

Even though something within the recesses of his mind continued to scream at him that the being before him was a female and not to be trusted under any circumstances, he found himself believing her. At least Kyil's breathing seemed to be deep and even, like that of a normal sleep, and not labored or anything that indicated a hurtful substance. He was relieved; sleep was always the best healer and once Kyil had had some sleep, doubtless his mind would be less panicky and more clear to think things out, and perhaps be more susceptible to his friend's assurances that he would be right beside him to help in any way he can.
He looked at Ssussun as she would explain her reason, becoming slightly more apprehensive as she came closer, more so when she looked at his sleeping friend, but as she looked back at him and continued, his discomfort grew. The way she had layed everything out so matter-of-factly; it was as though in the few hours they had been here, she had grasped the entirety of their situation, past and present. It made him feel exposed, and more than a little foolish. He was well aware that all they had was a cave, and he shot her an indignant look at the mention of money; hadn't she heard his offer to pay the healer? But what sort of a sickbed was a cave with nothing but a scare spell protecting it? And though he was certain he could still practice his trade and steal enough in money and items to keep them well enough off, what would he do if he was off theiving one night and something, or someone, was not phased by the spell and entered the cave? Kyil would be there, helpless and alone, and anything that would brave a hook horror probably wouldn't be happy to find a male with child instead. At least he wasn't foolish enough to think that anything bypassing the ward would be likely to show Kyil mercy or indifference.
He forced himself to meet Ssussun's gaze. "I guess there's no point in denying what you've correctly assumed. But I think I ought to point out what wasn't correct. We may not look like much, but we do have money; enough to pay for a healer for 9 months, I don't know, but I can get it, and I WILL get it. I'll get him anything he needs even if it means I have to do without; there's no question about that. It's true I don't know what to expect, but I can learn and I'm willing to learn whatever I need to know to keep him healthy. But......everything else was correct." He sighed a little, overcome with a sudden weariness. "Thank you then, for calming him down. I know it doesn't so for the both of us to be stressed, but seeing as he's the one with the child, better me than him."
He watched her gesture to the bed, which he had to admit looked inviting. He hadn't slept for very long between dinner and waking up to his friend's being ill, and he really ought tot ake the opportunity to rest, seeing as Kyil was doing likewise and wouldn't need attending for an hour or two. But as he slowly moved to comply, his mind still reeled with confusion. Ssussun had explained a lot, but there was one thing she hadn't explained. They were a pair of strangers to her, known only as audience members from her last show. Yet here she was helping them, letting them use her bed and the circus' healer, without any mention of favors or payment. Why? Females ALWAYS wanted something for their trouble. Well, he supposed, if she wasn't going to bring it up....
Mikaril climbed up slowly onto the bed, so not to wake his friend, and settled himself above the covers with his hands behind his head, looking at Ssussun with half-closed eyes. "Hopefully both my friend and I will have a clearer head when we wake up, and then we can finally be out of your hair, so to speak. Any payment you want for your trouble I'll be happy to give you. Though I have to admit.....I find your interest in our plight very curious. I would ask why, but I suppose you have your own reasons." He let his eyes close finally, feeling himself drift off, impulsively shifting himself to lay on his side instead of his back. "Anything you want......and thank you..."

Ssu carefully crossed to the place she had been curled up before and lowered herself down upon the slightly lumpy surface. She had guessed a great deal about Mikaril and his situation based solely on his desperate appearance upon her wagon step. It seemed that she had more or less been right, for which she personally felt grateful about. It would have been hard to save face if she had been really askew in her thoughts, and Mikaril would be less likely to believe anything she said after this if she had been so wrong. Still, with only the money issue being wrong...how exactly did a male like these two hold money enough to gain her that look? Much less to be so certain they could afford a healers skills for so long? Ssussun leveled her gaze on Mikaril with only a small glance towards Kyil. Bounty hunters was out. What with the complete lack of armor the pretty male wore. And Mikaril didn't seem to be abrasive enough to be a blade for hire. An assassin maybe? A two man team? It seemed odd, but so too did their interaction. Maybe that was it though. Maybe they were assassins fleeing with their hefty pay after taking out a highly placed target? Ssu drew a blanket around her shoulders while fending off a uneasy feeling.
It certainly made more sense...a pair of assassins....Perhaps she should have kept the door unlocked after all? At the same time...Mikaril spoke far more...well... He did not sound so heartless as he spoke about taking care of his friend. Ssussun bobbed her head for him when he thanked her... That as well was odd wasn't it? How many males would actually thank a female for poking her nose into a situation that she really had no busniess being involved in? She watched him while he crawled into the bed next to Kyil and laid down. The sleeping male shifted and seemed to be rather comfortable having Mikaril lay next to him. It was hard not to imagin the two being intimate. Perhaps not physically but surely emotionally.... And the way Mikaril had looked after finding out about the bottle. There was just more here then what she was seeing. It was odd that it did not make her feel more uneasy then she did now.
"Hnnn?" She hummed softly. Her mind had wandered as her eyelids had begun to droop. She caught the mention of payment. It seemed Mikaril had noticed her interest as well huh? "Just be quiet and sleep now." She spoke after his sleep slurred words. Her lips curled a little at the corners, then she rolled over to sleep for the rest of the morning. She'd figure out just what she was doing later when she woke up.

Mikaril barely had time to acknowledge Ssu's final words with a nod before sleep claimed him. Had he been conscious, he would have given himself a few choice words for falling asleep so fast. After all, did it ever occur to him that just because Ssussun had given Kyil an entirely different bottle of drink, it didn't mean that his own bottle wouldn't be laced with the exact same sleeping draft? And what fun would a female have with her door locked and two helplessly drugged males in her bed, both dead to the world? He would have been a little more at ease had he knows of Ssussun's confusion; she was undoubtedly smart enough not to try anything with a pair of males until she knew for certain just who it was she was dealing with. Paranoia was such an annoyance, but at times, it could be a drow's best friend.
If his thoughts conforted him at all as he drifted off to sleep, they didn't think to follow him into the realm of dreams. Any comforting slumber he could have had was soon chased away as his dreams spirited him away, far across the Glimmersea and back to Undrek'Thoz. He was waking up in the house temple; how had he dozed off here?! He had always hated this place, ever since he was small. If he hadn't been constantly cleaning it, he had been a silent presence during ceremonies and the occasional sacrifice, forbidden to look up no matter how interesting anything had sounded. He felt his arms pulled out so far on either side of him that they seemed as though they would come away from him with a rendering of skin. Looking down, he saw that his legs were the same, though at least this time he noted the tatters of cloth draped along his body; where had his armor gone?
A sudden harsh laugh caused him to look up quickly, into a pair of familiar red and yellow eyes. "You're awake. Finally." Haellara spat out the last word as she turned her back to him. "Did you honestly think you could get away from me so easily, little brother? I have Lolth on my side, and her reach is long. There is nowhere you can go where you will be safe completely, for I will find you. And every time I have to reach out and pull you back to me, you will suffer. But this time, I shall be lenient with you. Do you know why?" She turned to face him, and he recoiled as he saw her face; it had become distorted into a mask of demonic glee, and melting around the edges like the picture of a yochlol he had seen once in a book in the house library. "Because," she continued in a throaty growl, "You have brought me back a wondrous gift." She pointed to the altar with a clawed hand, and as Mikaril peered over, he felt his entire body grow cold. Kyil was lying on his back on the altar, strong bindings cutting into his wrists and feet as he stretched across the entire length of the stone slab. His mouth was gagged, and his pink eyes were wide with terror as they looked in the pair's direction. His entire body was glazed in sweat, standing out the most on his noticeably swollen belly.
Cackling, Haellara leered into Mikaril's face. "Lolth loves a sincere sacrifice, but how sweet would a tiny soul like that taste?" A sacrificial knife seemed to appear from nowhere in her gnarled fingers; a black blade with a spider pommel, pointy legs gathering down to end in many sharp barbed points. As Mikaril stared at it with horror, it even seemed to squirm a little, as though it were a live spider, eager to feed.He began frantically pulling on his restraints as Haellara turned, walking slowly toward the altar, dagger gleaming in the light.....where was the light coming from? Too panicked to question such a thing, Mikaril tried to scream, but no noise would issue forth, and the limbs he had been pulling grew suddenly numb. He watched helplessly as Haellara moved to stand by the altar, raising the dagger high, aiming straight down for Kyil's middle.
He squeezed his eyes shut, waiting for his sister's triumphant scream, but none came. He opened his eyes slowly, then blinked them open wide. Haellara stood above him, her mouth moving in a silent chant, the dagger beginning to come down. He frantically looked about him; HE was on the altar now, hands and feet bound, sweat shining all around him, coating his perfectly ordinary body. But the dagger continued to move downward, and as he watched it, it picked up speed, coming down faster and faster until he felt his entire body jerk with the impact, and he cried out silently at the pain that exploded from his stomach and spread along his body like an electric shock. It seemed to linger on even as the dream world went black, and in the bed, his body twitched slightly and he curled up, a few beads of sweat on his forehead, though he did not wake.

There came a time when soneone had to wake. That someone happened to be Ssussun. Perhaps it had something to do with the fact that out of the three of them, she was used to having full rest. Undisturbed and restful, Ssussun was most likely the most rested between them all. Of course, sleeping on the lumpy cloths instead of her feather mattress did nothing to tempt her into sleeping late. Ssussun stretched out on the cloths and rose. A simple glance at the pair of sleeping males assured her that they were not close to rouseing. Well...since this was the case, Ssu took advantage of this opportunity to redress in her entertainers outfit. Not like she would have cared too much if either of the males had glimpsed her anytime during her state of undress. This was her wagon, and she was used to being looked at. Goddess! Her performing outfit barely covered her anyways!
Once she was dressed up, and she had styled her hair, Ssu turned to look at the sleeping males. Kyil laid still and curled against Mikaril. He still slept pretty peacefully. Mikaril on the other hand seemed to be sweating, and his facial features portrayed a less then restful state. Well..it wasn't her concern... This had nothing to do with her. She had no obligations. She had no reason to care or get involved in the least.
Ssu knelt down by her bed and took the corner of her bedsheet. Gently she reached out to try and dab a little at Mikaril's brow. Stupid male...if he was nightmareing she supposed that was typical. But if he was feeling sick he should not have lain down with Kyil...or maybe Lloth was having a laugh and made them both pregnant?

Mikaril had been unaware of Ssussun's wakening, his mind back in his home city and in the place that caused him to experience such fear. Had he known he was dreaming at all, he would have pryed earnestly to anyone listening for release from his dream, to wake up and be allowed to watch over his sleeping friend instead. But the very same potion that had been given to Kyil to calm him now coursed through his own veins; his own silly mistake once again. He had been so preoccupied with making sure that his friend wasn't being poisoned, he hadn't thought to test his own first, though he hadn't tasted anything out of the ordinary. Still, what did he know? He was a connoisseur of pain-enducing potions and healing potions, never ones for actually causing restful sleep.
As a result, he continued to wallow in his nightmare unaware of his hostess moving around, getting herself dressed, then going off to perform in the very last performance the circus would be doing in that particular town. He did not stir when she returned, or when the wheels ground against the stone beneath him as the wagon slowly began to move, a single wagon in a long line of wagons, seeking out their next destination and their next batch of performances. He did not feel that the home that he and Kyil had made was growing steadily farther and farther away, the lumbering wagon carrying them slowly but surely toward a new part of their own lives.
It was the touch of the bedsheet against his sweaty forehead that finally caused him to snap out of his less than restful sleep. His eyes flew open at the unfamiliar touch, and seeing Ssussun leaning above him, it caused him to sit up quickly and scoot himself away from her a little. His wide eyes saw the corner of the bedsheet in her hands, and he could feel the slightest touch of cold as the beads of sweat on his forehead cooled and began to evaporate, his fright began to give way to curiousity at this strange seeming gesture of kindness. He turned to look at Kyil still blissfully asleep beside him, not noticing until he had seen that his friend had not been awakened by his scrambling about that the entire wagon seemed to be shaking slightly. He could feel the ground moving beneath him, and his alarm returned with the shock of an electric jolt as he blinked in confusion at Ssussun. "What is this? Why are we moving?" His panic began to bloom in his stomach, where he was certain the phantom pain had merely retreated to sleep. "Are you taking us back to Undrek'Thoz?"

Kyil's blissful slumber would not stay so. At the sound of Mikaril's paniced voice his pink eyes fluttered open and he began to rise. Shifting on the bed, he placed a hand on the wooden frame and lifted himself up onto his elbow. "Mikaril? What is going on?" He questioned with a note of concern in his voice. His terror from earlier had abated during his sleep, so now upon wakening he was far calmer. Though seeing Mikaril in a alarmed state, and feeling the gentle sway of the wagon was quickly undoing the calming repose he had unwittingly been tricked into taking.
Well! That was certainly a typical drow response if nothing else! Ssu leaned back a bit as Mikaril would snap to wakefulness. Just in case his hand happened to move with a blade in her direction. He did not, however. Slowly she released the corner of the bedsheet and allowed it to floop back down to the mattress. Carefully she eased back a few inches, her lips pursed into a curious expression while her brows pressed together to compliment it.
"To Undrek'Thoz? Now why would I be taking you there if I had no idea you were there to begin with?" Ssussun carefully replied. Kyil seemed to have woken and appeared as confused as Mikaril was. Ssussun stood and placed a hand upon the curve of her hip while attempting to draw herself up tall in the slightly swaying wagon.
"Calm down you two. We are moving because the day has passed and the Ringleader determined it was time to move on to another city. As far as I can tell we are on our way to Menzoberazzan for a brief show, then we shall be moving on again." She lifted her other hand and half lowered her lids.
"Before you get started with the questions." She spoke while waving that hand in the air slowly. "I did not waken you because you were both sleeping so deeply. The draught you took would have long since worn off, leading me to believe you two were in serious need of undisturbed rest. Had I wakened you before you and given you my offer....you would have left, unrested, unsettled, and uncertain about what to do." She tilted her head slightly to one side so she could glance at the locked door of her wagon. "You may have funds, but that is all you have. Gold alone does not provide. You need allies, and some form of support. You need a place that is safe for your companion to bide his time until the child comes. A healer that is easy to call upon in the case of complcations. I know that had you been awake you would have taken it upon yourself to provide these things. You would have left together and the Goddess alone only knows how you would have fared. So..."
She turned her red and amber gaze back to the two males sitting in her bed. Her hand swept towards them where they sat together. "So I did the sensible thing of course. I took the option away from you. I let you sleep longer in order to be more rested. We are now many hours deep into the wilds. Would you risk traveling back through the wilds with your apprentice in his current condition? I do not think so... So then this is my offer. You both will remain with the circus. I will allow you to share my wagon with you, this will ensure no one else messes with either of you. Your apprentice may rest as much as he needs. You both will be provided with regular warm meals, the safety of my Houses guards against anything that may threaten you, and the attention of a healer who will be informed that she will lose a finger for each inch of flesh touched inappropriately while tending to her duty.
