Question turned to face the emperor. He glanced at the two guards, before approaching him. His business with Mort could wait. "Huh. Don't you have an Empire to be running?"

Remus ordered a beer and took a drink before turning to Dr. Question. "If I remember correctly Question, you are a citizen of Rome now. Isn't it common protocol for a citizen to raise his right hand and salute his Empreror?"

"Good evening," Scribbler greeted Vii, fighting down the urge to bolt. Shifty blue eyes swept the counter before fixating on the bottle of headache relief, and she smiled at Vii gratefully.
The smile seemed to fade with each word as Vii turned to address Mort.
Oh...she was so very tempted to sink right through the floorboards right now. Should have seen that coming. She did not want to be reminded of her Childe status right now. Her fingers drummed restlessly on the countertop in silence, her smile growing forced and determinedly avoiding eye contact with anyone.

Question started to smirk. "Well, yeah, I could do that. Frankly, however, I decided it wouldn't be wise. See, if I were overenthusiastic with my salute, the fast hand-movement might make your guards think I'm reaching for my sword, and I'm not exactly in the mood for dying at the moment." He took his coffee and drank a bit.

Emma watched the goings-on in silence, tapping a thoughtful finger against her lips. The Scribbler seemed on edge, deservedly so. If she saw fit to intervene, she would.
The Emperor and Question...this would be fun to watch.

I see the angels, I'll lead them to your door... Lightning stepped into the tavern, and immediately noticed a crucial detail: everyone here was, well, older than her. From what she knew, there wasn't a sign on the door restricting those who were underage, but she knew that she should be wary... and stick to the taller people. Putting on her best smile, she walked up to the counter. "I'll have, um, tea, please," she said, unsure whether tea was available in this place or not. In fact, she had no idea whether tea had ever been available in any tavern. ...There's no escape now, no mercy no more.

Remus smiled and took another drink. "Good answer, Question." Remus then turned and leaned back against the bar. "But, you could at least spare an 'Ave' or hail the Empress. Show me some sign that you're a loyal Roman citizen."

Emma stifled a laugh from her corner. If her knowledge of the Doctor was correct, he would probably rather die than do any hailing of Remus whatsoever. The enchantress' mood was much improved due to relief from the pounding spell-headache.

Behind the counter again, Mort took out a clean glass and scooped up some ice. Into a separate glass he dumped two cubes, and into the first he served a fourth of the glass with Sailor Jerry. Finishing it with a stream sprayed from a nifty counter embedded nozzle, Mort slid the glass to Nazynri. Looking up briefly in response to Vii's words he spoke loud enough for both women to hear. "Yes she is." Turning his gaze to the sketcher he asked, "So how've you been?" Without waiting for a response he grabbed the glass with two cubes and poured some steaming coffee into it. The result was a brew you could more easily drink, and passing it to the good Doctor, Mort asked, "You need cream or sugar?" About that time a heavily armored gentleman saddled by guards approached the bar and ordered a beer. Thankful for the easy order, Mort plucked a cold 'weiser and tossed it to him. Quite literally spinning and grabbing a saucer and cup, Mort gently pulls the kettle out and adds a nice dish of tea to the counter top. Reaching into a drawer, he pulls out two biscotti's and tosses them to the Doctor and the short little ice girl. "Whew, it's getting busy," Mort says to Vii with a little smile, "I hope you don't mind but I felt obligated."

Question, thinking on how he would show allegiance, finally decided what to do. He lifted his coffee mug into the air. "May the Roman citizen's devotion to the Emperor burn hotter than this coffee." He then put the mug back down and took a swig. "How was that?"

I see the angels, I'll lead them to your door... Lightning sighed with relief when she received her tea, and the only sign of suspicion from the bartender was when he raised an eyebrow at her height. Was 5' 2" really that short? She sighed and took a seat near Question, carefully balancing the fragile teacup. She sat in such a way so that Question wouldn't notice her... and remain within his little verbal battle with Remus. Hah, Remus... He wasn't all bad, but he had quite a tendency to become overly proud. Chuckling at her own little observations, Lightning took a sip of her tea, now somewhat cold from being within the near vicinity of her body. ...There's no escape now, no mercy no more.

"More than satisfactory, in my opinion." Emma said softly, stepping out of the shadows and approaching the two men.

"Thanks." The glass was received with a skittish smile; she did not try to respond at the moment, seeing that he was occupied with other orders. The bottle was popped open and she offered it to Emma first before downing a pill with a swig of the drink.
Perhaps it was the warm fire from the alcohol, but she felt more at ease now that she had something nicely chilled in her hands. Or maybe she was just getting sleepy. Yeah, that's probably it.
She settled into one of the bar stools, watching the others and resisting the urge to chuckle at the banter between Remus and Question.

"Hear hear!" Remus replied and then finished his beer. "Now if you'll excuse me, I have an Empire to run." With that, Remus left the bar.
((Goodnight you guys.))

Sensing Nazynri's displeasure with the situation, she decided to add comforting words to help her as they were in somewhat a similar situation, having been recently turned. "Well, if it makes you feel better, my Sire is a full fledged demon now. Most of the time anyway." She shrugged, deciding that point of fact was neither helpful or comforting, just slightly random. Returning her attention to the new bartender Vii danced around him avoiding his swift progress in serving everyone at their arrival. "Consider your room on the house as long as you wish to remain employed." She was positively beaming at the success of her establishment, and with a little hop she landed next to Nazynri, and continued to the stage down the steps and to the right.
Flipping on the switch, the lights over the dance floor came on and the music from the box played a little more up beat, pulling Vii to the center with its rhythm. The little vampire danced lithely to the beat, laughing as she was alone in her enjoyment. She motioned for the eyes that had fallen on her to join, and then returned to her melodic trance.
