You know him? Who is he...I rescued him from a group of soldier who were holding him...cruelly...and Bez frightened him a touch...probably because he thought he was protecting you, Tam.

Tam shakes his head. "Know him... personally... no. He belongs to a race of serpentines from a different plane. Darn if I can't remember which one it is. It's one of those odd side planar zones which has rare offshoots of the more common races here. He can't talk, by the way. No vocal chords."

Keroboian's message seems to help, but it is Tam and Argeeis who appear to have the greatest effect on the boy. He creeps shyly towards Tam and tugs on his tunic looking at the bundle in his arms. Smiling Tam kneels so he can see Argeeis' face.
Bez shakes his head with a shudder. "Are ye sure it's safe to let him get so close?" He asks uneasily.
Tam nods. "To his people a child is a rare and sacred gift. He was most likely his villages prized possession." Then his face hardens as snaking out his free hand, he snares and examines one of the boy's wrists. "Who dared do this. They risk a blood feud."

The leader jumps angrily to his feet. "Beast! What have you done with our sacrifice?" He demands bravely.
A smaller wild haired man sitting off to one side creeps to hin and tugs on his arm. "No beast... not a beast... no... no... no..." he sounds half mad but there is a savage cunning in his eye that tells Kerobian that it is the smaller man who is the greatest daner there.

The leader snorts through his nose. "The bone reader.... he's no one. It isI you should be dealing with."
While he talks, two soldiers ease back into the forest and begin to flank Kerobian, thinking themselves unseen.
The small madman laughs merrily. "Mad am I... I am mad... but the child will doom us all...."

The leader spins about and slaps the bone reader so hard he flies some distance away. "Ye been saying that for months now and nothing has happened has it? Ye crazy old coot. And it was yer idea to bring him here in the first place... to placate Garagos's anger..."

"You and what army?" laughs the soldier lifting his great sword. He makes some sort of signal and Kerobian finds himself assaulted on all sides.

Derrin heard the sound of battle, and ran towards where it was coming from, he leapt up when he was about halfway there and began to fly over the trees. His bow was already ready just in case.
