Your Name: Dragain World Setting: Earth Backstory: (Just a rough outline, to be expanded if I win.) Earth used to be filled with magic, from the oracles who were able to predict the future, to those who had great luck. However, as technology advanced, humans stopped believing in the existence of magic... One point in time, those who were thought to practice magic were branded as 'Witches' and exterminated. It became superstition, a myth... And as they say, if you tell a lie enough times, it'll become the truth.
However, there are still those who believe in the existence of magic.
Magical beings used to exist - they still do, in folklore and urban myths. Many of these magical beings however, disappeared as humans took over Earth. Technology disrupts the flow of magic, and without it, they gradually faded away... Like many other magical beings, there was a race of winged fawns who were on the brink of extinction; their wings are a manifestation of the magic keeping them alive and healthy. Every feather represented a part of their magical capability (the ability to manipulate magic). As they are small in size, the fading magic of the world was like a slow poison to them. As cement jungles replaced the natural landscape, they were driven into the Amazon rain-forest; it was the only shelter they have left. By that time, magic was almost non-existent, and the once proud winged fawns had lost their wings, stubs growing out where their feathered wings once were.
They spent years in hiding, forming individual herds that looked out for each other... Then one day, two exploring fawns found it - a concentration of magic that had gathered in a hollowed out tree trunk, forming a portal. The heads of all the herds called a meeting, and eventually, sent their youngest bucks into the portal. They soon returned with great news; on the other side was a world filled with magic; the people there had not forgotten about the special energy necessary for their race's survival.
Thus, the migration begun. Once in the new world, their wings regained their feathers. In fact, aged fawns with years of experience and practice with manipulating magic lose their feathered wings and gain faerie wings instead, the magic in each feather so concentrated that they combined and formed something altogether different. Are they on Gaia now? If you want them to be; I left the place in the 'ending' to you, after all. Gaia has enough magic to last them a lifetime if you want them there. If so, how did they get here? Refer to story!
