"Don't whine, it's unattractive. You sound like my little brother." Zyanya laughed and turned her head to look at Writ again, shifting a little bit on the ground to get more comfortable. The fact he'd enjoy spending time with her made her rather happy, though. Friends were good - and she rarely had any.

"I've never had much money, but I still manage to pay or not eat out." She pointed out with a raised brow, "I suppose my family is just...Proud." And that meant being honorable as much as possible. There was a small shrug of her shoulders, then. "Rafael tells me I'm a goody two shoes." A snort. "And ugly. Let's not forget that one. An ugly goody two shoes."

"I might be an adult, but I'm still twelve on the inside." Writ laid on the ground, closer to Zyanya. He didn't bother to explain how literal that statement was, "And as a twelve year old, I still have the right to say that this Rafael guy sounds like a stupid head." He chuckled, and turned to Zyanya, "I'm guessing this guy's one of your brothers?"

He didn't need to explain that statement - Zyanya knew it well enough. She'd always been a bit older than her age, expected to grow up so fast, but she hadn't exactly expected it to be this fast. "No, Rafael is the boy my parents wish me to marry. We grew up together. But he ran away when he found out."

Insulting, indeed.

"I have one brother and one sister. Daniel and Cecilia. Sessy is six and Danny is two. Dan will whine if I put him down for a minute - so if I'm on baby sitting duty, which I usually am and have been since I could pick him up - he never leaves my arms." A fond smile came across her face. "Nothing like familia." She paused, offering a look to Writ, "Except, of course, good friends."

"All I got right now are good friends." Writ sighed, "Figured I could keep my family safe from all this stuff, and somehow their cafe's full of suits right now." For a moment there was a murderous glint in his eye, but it quickly subsided as he seemed to lighten up again,

"I always wanted a little brother, but I don't think I could deal with a sister too." Writ smirked, "Being an only child was pretty fun for a while."

Zyanya mulled that over for a moment, "You know, sometimes good friends can be your familia, Writ. Blood does not make family. Rafael's mother is my mama's sister, even if they are not related to each other. It is why they want us to marry, I think." It was only one of Zyanya's theories, truthfully, but it seemed more likely than 'they hate us and want us to be miserable' which was her favorite one to think about.

"I bet it was." She laughed. "Little boys are much easier."

"I still don't get it." Writ mused, "You two apparently don't like one another all that much, and both of your parents want you two to get married? Really just can't imagine that really. Specially' under these circumstances." He motioned his hand towards Zy to make his point, "I mean, you probably dwarf him by now. Not to mention he looks too young for you now." He was still kindling a little bit of hope left.

Her face twisted slightly, "I wouldn't be so sure. He is in The Game too. From what I know, his God and my Goddess are married as well. The world is conspiring against me!" She laughed then and closed her eyes, though the laughter wasn't happy. "But we will never be married, Rafael and I, Writ. We would kill each other. Literally and figuratively, I think?" Not just because of the game, either. They were rocky friends at best.

"I think I would rather bring shame to my family than enter a marriage with someone that I could not and do not love. I care for Rafael...But not in the way that makes a marriage. I think by running away, he's made his feelings clear as well. Neither of us will do it."

There was a determined look on her face at that moment. "I want to make my own traditions. I want love, if I marry." Brown eyes opened, "Not that I have much of a chance at that, yes?" Six years had passed in the blink of an eye for her, after all. How could she hope for normalcy?

Writ almost giggled in glee when she said that her fiance was in the game as well. It seemed that there wasn't only hope, he could actually do something about it. Offing Raphel was his first thought, but it was quickly dismissed. That seemed a bit extreme for what he wanted, and probably a bit counter-productive.

"Yeah, you really gotta be careful around other players, because you really never know what's going to happen." Writ never had that problem, he was on more or less friendly terms with everyone.

"Hey, anything can happen." Writ said, "Between you and me, I think there's something going on that's bigger than the Game going on, you know, behind the scenes."

"I think I'm pretty harmless, at this point." She said with a shake of her head, " I don't see why anyone would take out someone who does not show signs of being a threat." Maybe she was indulging too much in the other player, but that didn't seem to bother her all that much. She really was pretty harmless. Until she figured out her 'hidden ability' that she hadn't bothered to try and discover yet, anyway. Maybe it was something awesome and offensive so she actually had a chance in hell other than throwing snakes at someone.

...As amusing as that would be.

"How can something be bigger than the Game?" Seriously? Something bigger than gods and goddesses comparing their metaphoric p***s lengths and tit sizes in an epic battle between life, death, and taking over the world?

Be still Zyanya's heart!

"Mostly harmless." Writ said, "Gods chose us for a reason and all." He put his hands behind his head, "It's just a hunch, why exactly are we playing this game in the first place anyway? I mean, other than the chance to rule the world and stuff. Somebody's not telling us the whole story."

A shrug, only a hunch. But Writ had heard a lot and seen a lot, and he had his theories.

"I suppose so. And you know more than I do - been around longer. So I suppose you have your reasons for thinking that way. I don't...really know how anything could get much bigger, though. I mean...An all out war between the Gods...Dios mio, Writ. I'd be afraid if there was something bigger out there."

What, was Satan going to come and eat them up like skittles now?

"...Thought we were going to talk about happier things." She ventured after a moment, "Keeps coming down to the Game doesn't it?"

"Well, we're the lowest on the food chain compared to all those guys up there." Writ pointed at the sky, "Where there's big fish, there's bigger fish. Or something like that. Somebody's pulling some strings not even the gods can see, I know it." He said, again on a hunch.

Writ sighed, they did get back to talking about the game, didn't they? Games of life and death just tend to stick in the minds of it's players it seemed.

"Yeah..." Writ wanted to change the pace again, it always seemed to happen when they were sitting or lying down. So he got back up and went, "Anywhere else to go? I hate standing still."

"I'm comfortable!" She protested, though sat herself up - dirt and odds and ends from the ground sticking to her white blouse and dirtying it. Zy winced. "...This will be fun to explain." Up she went, attempting to get any loose dirt and grass off her clothing - though only successfully making mud on her hands. "Couldn't give me useful powers, eh? Like...able to banish stains! Or...something." Grumble grumble.

Shoes were slipped on a moment later and she crossed her arms over her chest, "Not that I can think of. There's the harbor...But it's going to start getting late soon, and I'm sure mama will want help with dinner." Even from a possessed heathen. Possessed heathens were great when you had mouths to feed and only two hands. "...So I should probably get back home soon..."

"I bet the god with that sort of power would be the most boring god ever." Writ laughed, "There's kids out there who create fire and lightning with a snap of their fingers. Though, I guess you could burn the stains off, if you don't mind a few holes in your clothes."

He certainly wouldn't mind.

"Have fun with that. I probably should get going myself." Writ streched out, and gave Zy a grin, "Don't let all this stuff get you down, alright? You look a lot prettier when you smile."

Now, there were some women who would have taken that comment as 'you're ugly when you're not' - but lucky for Writ, Zyanya wasn't one of those women. Instead, she offered him a brilliant smile. "Thank you." For the compliment or for being concerned, it wasn't clear what she was thanking him for. Perhaps both. She thought for a moment.

"Commere. You're too tall."
