Faolan tilted his head a little. "Tell me later then?" He figured it might not be something she wanted to talk about in front of the children.
The kids, though, were largely oblivious to the conversation of the two adults. Sara reached up after a moment to tug on Faolan's wrist, wanting him to cut her meat into smaller pieces.

"I'll tell you later, I promise," Ellandra said quietly, rising to her feet to help Faolan with the children. she wasn't going to make him watch them all on his own, after all - though she wuldn't be telling any more stories for a bit!

Faolan nodded quiet to Elle, turning his focus on the children and seeing to their needs. There were only four places at the table and the kids were already occupying three of them, which left the last for Ellandra. Faolan figured he'd eat after the kids were done or just eat at the stove.

Ellandra helped Faolan with the children, but made no move to sit down at the last place at the table. She didn't think she ought to eat before Faolan, or force him to eat away from her. It seemed rather cruel, especially when Faolan still needed to eat, due to how under-the-weather he'd gotten during her absence.

Faolan looked at Elle and motioned to the empty chair. "Sit, darlin'. I'll be alright here at th' stove. Ain't gonna starve o'er a few minutes." He patted Kelly's head as he walked passed the boy to the stove to fix himself a plate.

Taking the not-so-subtle hint, Ellandra took a seat, but she cast a worried look at Faolan nevertheless. She wanted him to be okay, she she still felt burdened by the guilt of the heartbreak she'd wrought upon him not so long ago.

The twins and Kelly talked amongst themselves about the usual topics children enjoyed, blissfully ignoring the conversation the adults were having.
Faolan fixed up a plate and stood near the stove to eat, balancing his plate pretty well actually. Eating in this fashion reminded him of bygone days when he'd just moved into his first vardo and hadn't gotten furniture yet. A small smile graced his features as his eyes got a slightly far-away look at the memories.

Ellandra watched Faolan nearly the entire time she ate, noticing the distance in his eyes and hoping wherever his mind was, it wasn't somewhere unpleasant.

Faolan caught Ellandra's eyes and smiled at her. "You know, this ain't too different from when I wis young an' just moved out on me own. Didnae hae a table then, either."

Relieved a bit, Ellandra smiled back. "It is different, though - before you may not have had a table, but now you do. It's just. . .full, at the moment."

"Wouldnae hae it any other way," Faolan chuckled. "Children be a blessin' an' I donnae mind not haein' a place t' sit to let them an' you eat."

Ellandra smiled, looking at the three little ones. If her eyes rested on Kelly a little longer than they did on the girls, well, they just did. She didn't need to bring up the whys of it. "I don't know about myself, but for the children's sake. . .. that I can understand."

"You're wi' child--well, children. Tha' entitles you t' a place at th' table in my books," Faolan pointed out. "Maybe someday I'll get a table t' put outside fae when we got more people o'er."

Annie finished her meal first and looked back at Faolan. "Can I hae dessert now?"
"Not till th' others are done," the young man answered patiently.
