Name preference: Letta or Catastrophe
Age range: 16
Religion/belief system (or a lack thereof): Wicca
Sex/Gender: Female
Anything else you want to add: I want people to stop fearing Wicca/Paganism because they don't understand it and i hate it when people accuse me of worshiping the devil.
How did they let someone as young as you enter a coven? I mean aren't laws against lewd acts against a minor.
Here is why I say what I do.

I'm a solitary witch and covens that go skyclad [nude] during rituals probly won't allow anyone under 21. Besides not all covens are like that there are some covens made entirely of teens.
I have no qualms about what you do, I'm curious about why you identify yourself (and others on some level) as Wiccan when you (and others) have not been initiated into the Mysteries. It just seems disrespectful and a misrepresentation of Wicca. There's always Eclectic Neo-Pagan to describe your belief system or TVAAN-ist if you are following just the outer-court materials.

No problem. Glad I could provide it. I hope that she realizes that I'm not attacking her beliefs but questions why she uses a title that is not hers to claim? It's equivalent to someone claiming to be a priest without receiving Holy Orders.

Basically, he's saying that reading a book on Wicca does not make you a Wiccan. You haven't, as far as I've seen, stated if you're book-taught or priest/ess taught, so whatevs.

Going Skyclad isn't okay for someone under the age of consent (18 in the USA), and generally a Priest or Priestess won't take on someone under the age of 18 anyway unless that person is within their own family or has a note of written consent from the parent.

Depending on the coven, going Skyclad for the Initiation rite isn't necessary. It may not even be necessary for the First Degree, either. (After that, though... Be prepared to bare yo' a**. whee )

Religion/belief system (or a lack thereof):

Secularist/Atheist

Sex/Gender:

I don't see why this is relevant... if you're not going to ask race, eye color, hair color etc etc then I don't think you should be asking gender.

Anything else you want to add:

I have my own atheist/secularist website which I encourage people to check out wink

Haha, agreed.

This question seems required on almost anything you fill out nowadays, it's kinda silly in my opinion.
Also, it should be obvious from most people's avatars.

I just felt the need to comment and agree with you on that one.

Welcome to the guild, by the way!

Most people have some gender identity, be it conventional or not, and so I see this as quite relevant.

My issue was not with your belief system but what you had chosen to call it. Wicca is a religion that has very specific requirements. It is an oathbound orthopraxic ("right action" as opposed to orthodox, "right thought") fertility witchcult that worship a very specific God and Goddess who's names are not know to those non-initiated. One must be initiated to know the Mysteries of Wicca and to claim the title of Wicca. It doesn't matter what you believe or how you understand the religion but it matters how one worships and how one performs rituals in Wicca. Only one in Wicca that is initiated knows how to perform the rituals properly. Initiation in Wicca is sexual, hence the requirement of one being of age to join a coven. There is also the issue of proper personhood but that is determined coven to coven.
Since your religion does not meet this, why call your religion Wicca when you don't meet the requirements for it? There are other names for your belief system such as Eclectic Neo-Pagan, Seeker of Wicca, or even Tvaanist.

I can understand but that doesn't mean I approve.
I wish the world cared less about physical things.
It'd be nice if people judged you on more your personality and less on what parts you were born with. stare

I don't want to argue this, even I find myself treating people differently just because they are male or female, even though I know it's not right.

Oh well, this is getting kinda off topic. ^^

A person's sex is a physical difference (and not all avatars are a good indication of this ^^* I have definitely gotten confused by a person's genderqueer avatar in the past). A person's gender is their personal identity on the spectrum of masculine and feminine behavior.
