MatterEaterLad Since I am a Music Education Major, I am required to try and play everything. My main instrument is snare, but I LOVE playing the Vibraphone (so beautiful) Right On! I'm a Music Ed. Major Too!!! But My Main instruments are Mallets and Timpani (I can't stand any of the Marching Line). My fav is probably either Keyboards or Marimba, although I really like Vibes and Xylo too.

By the way, you had to audition to take a course/class/whatever, right? Was it really difficult? In like, a year I'm going to have to audition.. and I'm so scared I won't be able to play good enough... ;-; There's so many things we have to be able to play, with percussion.. and being just mediocre at everything isn't going to help me.. agh..

I'm attending a community college currently, so I didn't have to audition, but I will in two years. I have however had to do multiple auditions before. I had to audition for the Pike's Peak Philharmonic, and I'm going to have to for Blue Knights and the Colorado Springs Philharmonic. Don't worry so much about having to be great at everything. Just practice your skills in all the areas and pick out pieces that show off your your strong points. The main three areas you need to know are Snare, Timpani, and Mallets.

I play snare drum, bells, and whatever else my band director can think up for me. I'm flexible, and love it.

I can play pretty much any percussion, but the timpani is not my best skill. I'm best at all the keyboard instruments, and any of the drumline equip.

All the auxilary and keyboard I can play including timpani. I play a little snare but don't really like it and got sick of fighting for a snare part I don't like whan no one else would play the bells that I love. I really suck at set espaecially after four years of Vibraphone my foot can't work indepently after it always plays with the rythm instead of having its own seperate beat.
