Then that would make things a bit easier Lin thought as she giggled at Regan's comment, or rather statement.

"That is good to know, then no one will be left behind hopefully. Probably just a few adjustments need to be made to the travel plan?"

She would hate for Regan to be left behind after all, and it would be great if it could be all of them.

"And Earendil? Has anything changed with him?"

Tinuviel shook her head. "Still training, always training ..."

"Not strictly true," Aranel interrupted. "He's finally found something he wants to do with his life - besides training the guard hopefuls." He turned to Lin. "Prince Gion visited several years back, only for a short while, to be sure, but he taught Earendil what he knows about mapmaking. I believe Earendil has a natural talent for it, and when you all go out on that long journey you're planning, he will probably be the one to make maps of all the places you've been."

"Ada-tow dwaw pictuhs," Regan mumbled absently, playing with the string of her father's tunic. "Petty pictuhs."

"But it's great if Regan can come with us," Kaito spoke up suddenly. His yellow eyes gleamed as he watched the child. "She's absolutely adorable."

It looked like he might have found a new playmate.

Lin clapped her hands together, "Perfect and I have a bag for him as well! I know Lothiriel got her father's bag, but Mom did one for Earendil as well."

So he would be able to do plently of maps with room to spare. She grinned at Kaito noting how he watched Regan and giggled some more. It looks like someone was going to have fun, if Regan could come of course.

Senka pawed Lin's thigh and pouted making the girl give in and pet her again.

"Bag?" Tinuviel repeated, tilting her head curiously.

Regan noticed the way Kaito was staring at her, and she stared right back at him, noticing perhaps for the first time his yellow eyes, pointed, furry ears, tail, and large white wings. She looked up at Aranel and pointed at Kaito. "A'sat?"

Aranel chuckled softly in embarrassment. He didn't know, and had been wondering the same thing himself. With a smile, Shiro took it upon himself to explain to their cousin what they were and what it meant.

"Well remember when I was little I would seemly have doll after doll inside but I could still carry the whole bag around even though I was no bigger than a doll myself as it if wasn't heavy at all?" Lin inquired.

Though she knew that was a long time ago, heck the first time she ever came here Tinuviel had snuck out to visit her grandmother.

"Probably not, seeing as it was decades ago now, but my bag is spelled to hold a lot, but not weigh any heavier than what the bag looks. Mom gave your Uncle Gion one a long time ago, which he passed onto Lothiriel. I had been meaning to get one for Dareon when I was little but he's hardly around and even I've only seen him maybe a handful of times and purely by chance."

She glanced over at Shiro, Lin liked listening to Shiro explain things, besides she forgot that Aranel had not met the unusual group she and he called their family.

Tinuviel's eyes lit up as she suddenly remembered back so many decades ago. "Yes," she murmured. "I remember wondering how you fit so much into such a tiny bag ..." She smiled at Lin. "Then Earendil is a lucky man. Those bags would be perfect for travel. I would imagine we might not have to worry too much about water either, then, yes? As long as we have enough containers to put it in?"

"That's right," Lin replied, "I thought a story from Ulani and Ulrich says that we could put probably enough supplies in there to last a winter. Or something like that."

She had heard about the two trying to fill one of the bags and were confused why it never filled.

"Then we may be able to leave the river for a bit," Tinuviel smiled warmly. "It means we can see a bit more than just the main cities if we wish. But we will have to plan that out with Earendil, of course. But for now ..." Her eyes drifted towards the window, where the early morning's light was beginning to filter in and light up the room. "Breakfast will be ready soon, I should finish getting ready for it. I shall see you all there."

Aranel lifted Regan up for her mother to take her and prepare both of them for the meal, but since he himself was already ready, he sat back on the couch and smiled at the others. "You've been looking forward to this trip for quite a while now, I would imagine," he commented. "If it's been sixteen years since the last time you were all here ..."

Lin chewed her lower lip and tried not to smile. She wondered how much Aranel knew of the time difference between worlds. Then again it had been a while if she recalled since anyone 'new' had become part of the family.

"Yes, we have, but not as long as it has been for everyone else," Lin replied softly, "There are times I wish there was less of a difference between worlds. It's always a long time since I've seen people wherever I go. Whether it is here, or the Borderlands, and now with a connection with the Eastland.... so many places, and so much time passes."

True she had been looking forward to traveling since she was but a child, but still childhood in itself was only a few years long.

Aranel's brow furrowed slightly. "Difference ... not as long fo- Oh! A time schism?" he guessed.

Shiro looked at the man thoughtfully. "You know something of this already?"

Aranel shook his head. "Of time schisms, but not this one specifically," he replied. "I have experienced one, lived outside of time itself ... for a while."

It took a minute for it to click in what Aranel was referring to. Of course it would make sense from what little she knew about the fortress that reappeared after being gone for so long and being intact as if no time had passed.

"You mean the fortress?"
PostPosted: Thu Aug 06, 2009 3:35 pm

Aranel nodded solemnly. "While it was not in this world, it was not in time," he said quietly. "My father spent thirteen years in there and when we found him, he thought it was but a day. Another was there also, for twenty five thousand years, and he did not know how long it was either. Now that is ended, the fortress is returned ... in a manner of speaking."

Ura tilted his head. "Manner of speaking?"

Aranel looked at the neko. "It was destroyed," he said. "A pile of rubble now. It would be good for exploring, if you were so minded. You seem the traveling type."

It made Lin wonder how old Aranel was to begin with, older than Tinuviel that she knew for certain.

"Now there's a thought," Lin murmured thoughtfully.

As long as nothing there popped up, Lin had no will for anything unexpected to happen in a place that had already had a rough history.

"It would be interesting to see it."

She wasn't going to deny that.

Aranel caught the hesitance in her voice, and he chuckled softly. "Don't worry, it's safe," he assured her. "The magic that took it out of this world is destroyed as well, it's as safe as anywhere else."

He paused. "I think, from what I'm told ... the magic of our world is different from your world."

"Very much so," Lin nodded at Aranel's comment, "There's a lot of variety, I think Shiro might be able to explain it better."

The only magic Lin really dabbled in was the magic born in Seconds and her own unusual gift, so she didn't really know other magic the way her mother and the others did. Though she was familiar wtih it.
