Squirrel update! The squirrel service came and nailed up all the squirrel holes today. The squirrels will become angry, they tell me, and make a lot of noise up there trying to get back in. But NO! There is no way for them to come back in and squeak at me through the wall while I am on Gaia. They will have to go and make baby squirrels in someone else's attic.

Just be careful, they might attack you for taking away their rumpus room.

I'm afraid if I fed them moldy bread, it would give them so much penicillin that they would become super squirrels, unstoppable, fierce, ravening beasts that would barge into my kitchen, looking for acorn butter and jelly sandwiches on more moldy bread. The evil little genetically altered rodents, having emptied my pantry, would then escape into the neighborhood and propagate until they gained world rodental dominance.
OK, maybe they've driven me over the edge. Maybe I should just go back to bed now ...

All right, so I went back to bed. And I slept blissfully late.
Now, I hear no squirrels! They are not romping directly over my head now! Can this mean ... ??

Weeks later, and $1100 later, they're still up there, but it turns out they are not squirrels after all, but rats. So far, 5 of them have been sent to Rat Heaven by the rat catcher person, but there's still at least one up there. I know you were all dying to get the latest update ...

Oh man, rats are horrible! I'm sorry to hear that. I'd rather have squirrels, I think...

We don't have an attic in our house, so we don't get animals in the roof, but where I used to live (on a really large acre-block on the outskirts of town), we used to get possums in the roof and lots in the trees as well. Their eyes glowed red whenever we shone the torch at them. It was kinda freaky.

I don't think many Australian houses have attics.
