"Thank you. I've had a lot of time to practice." She finished of her plate and set it on the ground before her, and leaned back into the swing. Teagan looked utterly content as she laid back, with eyes half open and stomach full.
"Like I said, if you ever need food, you just come over here. There's an apple tree out back full of green and sweet fruit. Take a bunch, I don't mind."

Teagan sent him a sidelong glance. Hearing him say those things sent butterflies through her stomach, but she wouldn't let him know that for a little while yet. He was still pining for another girl, after all, and did drugs. It was best not to entangle herself with someone who was so unstable.

"Fine then. Come talk, come eat, whatever it takes to pass your time. Maybe I'll have some kind of menial task, like runnin' ribbon around a vase or something. I'm sure you could learn that fast, right?"
whether she was joking or serious, it was difficult to tell. That was one beauty of Teagan.

"You suppose?"
Something about that made Teagan give a soft laugh. Even in conversation, Nat didn't want to commit to anything.
"Well I suppose you can do as you please, Mr. Nat."
Teagan rose and gathered the empty plates to take back inside. He was fed, and so it seemed there was nothing else to worry about. He could stay for talk, if he wanted to, or just go back to the house he was staying at. She honestly didn't mind if he came or went.

"Not at this time of the night," she called from inside the kitchen. All she needed to do was wash the two plates, the silverware, and set them aside to dry. An easy task, while all others would have been to challenging for the time.
"Though thanks for the offer. I do have a new cooler coming in as a donation from a shop that needed the extra space. Getting that inside will be a real doozy, but I'll be able to keep more flowers in there once it's all said and done."

Teagan turned around as she dried her hands, and with that smile that seemed almost as if she was hiding something. A hidden kiss, perhaps, or a secret that made her want to burst out laughing.

Teagan wasn't aware of the way she smiled, just that she was smiling at all.
"No. Can't a girl send someone a smile without being up to something?" She turned around to her counter to fetch a jar of small hard candies, and turned back to throw him one. Whether or not he was prepared to catch it wasn't a concern of hers.
"Though maybe if you do do something funny, I'll give you more candy."

Teagan freaked out when he fell forward, but caught himself at the last second. That definitely wasn't her idea of funny. People getting hurt was usually something serious around those parts, what with farm equipment and the occasional ornery animal.
"Knock knock jokes? Come on, I have a bit more sophisticated taste in humor than that..." she said awkwardly as he picked himself off the ground.

"I think," she said rather carefully, "That a boy trying so hard to get some laughs and attention is funny. And I think it's also kinda cute. And sometimes, cute can be funny."
Teagan gave him a wink, and turned back around to make some coffee for herself. Nat wasn't in a position to get a girlfriend, she knew. A relationship would only make things harder. And besides, she might have been a rebound girl for him. Lose one, get another, as they said...
