Yes I think Hiei has this weird thing..

Where he wants to prove the koorime right..Where he wants to believe that he's evil..

Also yes, violence is the only thing he really had... sad

I don't necessarily think it's that he wants to prove the koorimes right. I think it's more along the lines of

A) The second he was born he was hated by virtually everyone.
B) The second he was born he was told he was evil.
C) His own family, the only people he ever really had, and that could've been there for a good portion of time before the series start (think of how much time I child needs its parents to grow and develop, as well as the fact that normal human babies die without love and affection) shunned him.

Hiei's a messed-up child. It really hurts me sometimes.

I don't know that humans ever did anything to him, per se, but they don't really have to. It's more that his default is to damn all those who he does not trust/respect, which would include the majority of humans. (The only exception being the koorime, but they're a special case.)

That's true...but does he not hate the lower-leveled demons too? Why did he put forth so much effort to take out the humans first when he could've taken out the demons with much less work? Think about it. He had to go all the way through the barrier AFTER stealing the artifacts? Why not just steal the Shadow Sword then go back to Demon World?

But then again, he WAS in a band with Gouki and Kurama which would take him there...

I'd always seen it that it's easier to go to the human world from Spirit world rather than going to the demon world from Spirit world. Also, Kurama needed to go to the human world...and wait, the Shadow Sword made humans into demons. It probably would have little (or no) effect on creatures that were already demons. And, like you said, Kurama and Gouki both needed to go to the human world anyway.

Yeah.

Anywho, wait, so does it ever reveal where demon go when they die? I mean, we've only really see humans head to Spirit World after death, and if demons went to Spirit World shouldn't they be more fearful of it, as humans are to God or whatever supernatural forces or deities they believe in?

IIRC, the Netherworld is the Spirit World for demons. So, they don't usually deal with Koenma. BUT that information came from the Poltergeist Report movie, which I saw several years ago and which can only be counted as canon-spin-off at best. The only people we really see going to Spirit World (besides Yusuke, of course) are Genkai & Toguro, who were both human (at least at one point. I think Koenma mentioned that Toguro's spirit was still human, despite his body's transformation.)

I got Genkai.

I think I can deal with that. I'm not sure I agree, but it's better than getting told I'm like, Byakko or something. >.> Not that he's on the test, but ya'll get my drift. xD

As for the where demons go thing...o.O; I think the process might be different - and I'm not sure if we should trust the Poltergeist Report, either. xD Though, I don't see why noooot. I mean, we count Kuroune as canon, and...I COULD BE WRONG, TELL ME IF I AM - he's not in the series.

But. Didn't it lose a battle against Spirit World and fly into the abyss or something? xD *hasn't watched that movie in about the same amount of years...* Would people still be GOING there? Or were the ones that showed up the on- I have no idea about that plot anymore.

And I have issues watching it - as I'm attached to the dub (Japanese YYH is a little awkward for me), and Yusuke's voice is terrible, and I have no desire to hear Kurama and Hiei talk. exactly. the. same. omfg.

So I'd go figure this out for my own sanity - but I'm just gonna say we just roll with what you said about that and call it fact.

xD Unless there's a better explanation out there, of course. :O

I bet they don't go through Koenma though.

Wasn't King Yama an evil d**k, making demons out to be some horrible race of evil when they really...aren't so different from humans? (just some are a little slower in the evolutionary process like some humans...and some are psycho...xD) I dunno. D:

But I can't imagine Spirit World is for demons. But if King Yama is as controlling as I think he is? then I doubt there's some other world he has no control over taking in spirits of demons - who he tried to oppress while alive? xD

I'm seriously just talking out of my a** right now, because I'm confused and want to have something to contribute to this train of thought. xD

And I only ever saw the last episode once - so if King Yama isn't a badguy, sorry. razz

Fun fanon idea: Demon religions/demons fearing Netherwordlings as gods. Though Hiei and Kurama showed little reaction during Poltergeist, I still think it'd be an interesting concept to play with, just because of their lack of fun with Spirit World. ; )

Well...Byakko may not be on the test, but Dr. Ichigaki is, so I wouldn't be surprised. XD Personally, I count Kuronue as a canon character, but I don't write about him and I haven't ever read a fanfiction about him that I liked--mostly because the only thing we see about his personality (true personality, that is--given that the evil demon was pretending to be him for half the frickin' movie) is that he told Kurama to go on without him, and that he was practically obsessed with that necklace. Other than that, most of his personality is fanon-generated, which bugs me.

I believe the king of the Netherworld tried to overthrow Spirit World, and was barely beaten by Enma. I don't think they ever said that no one goes there anymore. But I really don't recall if they said that all demons go there, either, so...yeah. Oh, and if Yusuke and his friends defeated the king of the Netherworld, when Enma could barely do so, does that make them stronger than he is? O.o

In the end of the manga, they revealed that Enma had been brainwashing demons into committing crimes for the purpose of pretending that Spirit World was actually effective. Then, the barrier is taken down and demons begin to coexist alongside humans, which is due in part to Enki's laws about human-demon relations.

@havi: That's interesting. I'm a weak atheist, so I've always wondered what would happen if Koenma was actually "God" (or the closest non-corrupt being there is) and I died and he knew that I didn't believe in him or any deity...I'm not sure. Then again, what if I had believed in the "wrong" God? Bah! (This is why I don't mess with religion anymore. lawl.)
PostPosted: Wed Oct 14, 2009 11:41 pm

YES. *points to spoiler* Enma was a d**k, basically. I love that he left Koenma to do all the paperwork and deal with Spirit Detectives and he was just off working oh-so-hard on THAT.

XD Koenma actually accomplished real things. :O Crazy how that works, when you actually work at something without cheating. razz

I couldn't imagine good Kuroune fanfics, and for the exact same reason. =| I never understood the focus on characters that had three lines. xD I'm like "...But Yusuke's right here. D:" (though...most people DO prefer Hiei or Kurama... razz That's just what I'd say to them. ;D)

King Enma doesn't sound like he's actually as badass as he pretends to be - so I bet Yusuke and them could easily gangup on him. :O

xD I hate thinking of Koenma like God, because then my shipping feels blasphemous. ;D But I'm not religious at all, so I don't know why I bother feeling funny about it when thinking about it. XD I wouldn't wanna believe in the wrong God either. Bleh on that. D:

Koenma, I don't think would expect to be known. He'd judge whether you laughed or not. razz

Nah, I think Koenma's more like a God of Death or an equivalent of that archangel at the gates of Heaven. I don't think we should even TRY to compare it to Christianity, because it's so it's own religion.

Koenma's in charge of seeing souls to their rightful place, and Enma's in charge of douchebaggery.

The fact that they can both be killed leads me to believe if there were GOD's in YYH, they aren't them, they're more in charge of the trivial shiz and the taking care of stuff. XD

I'd compare Koenma to Jesus - but I'm stuck with Gate-angel. xD (I forget his name. xD)

o.o Oh, Ichigaki IS. Bleh. D: Wtf.

I'm religious so I'm bleh like that. XD

I've tried to do a lot of comparisons, just because when creating my OCs for my fanfic, I needed to know if I'd have religion be a big part of the story. So things like Yusuke being compared to Jesus because of his revival came into play, however quickly failed. Although he has Savior like qualities, i.e. he always SAVES everyone, just no.

The fact that Enma is not a real god makes me wonder if there are even great powers than Spirit World out there and the creation myths of the YYH universe. Does Koenma believe in the Big Bang? lol

Anywho, Kurunoe's pretty amazing from what I picked up on him. I wish they would've shown more. For Youko Kurama to be that shaken up over the loss, he must've been a pretty amazing character. : )
