"a** bag.." she mumbled through her smile as she got up and placed her earpiece on the control panel. Janice smoothed out her dress and headed out of the bridge. "...Wheres the transporter room.." she asked herself waving her finger around. "Ah yes!" it finally hit her.

She swayed her way over there. While walking she still couldn't believe that he couldnt remember her Name. Seriously its not that hard to remember. She brushed the bangs on her forehead and shrugged the idea out of her head. "He'll get it eventually.." she tried to convince herself. She made it to the transporter room. It was quite nice. Janice never really beamed anywhere before, no one even told her what it was like. At this point she was starting to get nauseous at the idea. Oh grow up. She took a deep breath and leaned against the wall with her arms folded.

The first officer of the Enterprise was sitting cross-legged on a mat in his quarters. His back was to the door, and the lights were dimmed, with a few candles adding some ambience.

His hands were held in the Vulcan salute put pressed against one another in a harmonious posture. His eyes closed shut tightly, as if trying to concentrate, to calm his inner being. Spock’s concentration was destroyed by the comm in his room beeping.

It was not like he had found his center therefore the call had not…completely interrupted it. Then he shifted, coming out of his meditative position and rising smoothly to his feet. He turned around and approached the panel.

Spock hesitated for a moment before responding, “Spock here, Captain. I acknowledge. I will..join the party….Spock out.” How quick and snip he must have sounded. Gathering his survival belt, as he did not know what to expect, he slipped it on.

He grabbed his communicator, phaser and tricorder to take readings, and attached them in their proper locations. The walk to the transporter room had not been long. He wondered in the back of his mind who he would be stuck with….Spock paused his thought process, wondering why he was starting to lose sight of his logical means.

Upon his arrival in the transporter room he was taken aback by Janice Rand in the room. “Lieutenant, did you make a wrong turn? The lounge is on level three.”

Uhura slipped her communicator into her shoulder bag and stood up.
"Captain, I'm going to head down to the transporter room. Even though Commander Spock will be joining us, I would still find my skills to prove quite useful, and besides... if the blonde girl can go... then why cant I?"

She'd be damned if that ditzy newbie got to go on a mission while she stayed up in the bridge.

"I'm ready too. Shall we go?" Sulu got up and straightened his shirt out before heading over to the lift, Uhura following right behind him.

They entered the lift and waited for the captain.

Janice's eyes shot open almost in disbelief to Spocks 'attempt' to help. Well, She couldn't blame him for not knowing. "Dont worry Mr.Spock. Captain Kirk assigned me to come with you guys." She quickly stood up straight. She pulled out a portable panel from her bag. It was something similar to the one on her work station, but this one actually let her pick up senses from the ship they're on. So if there were any movements on the ship, it would show up on her screen.

She pulled out her stylus pen and started to open up some files. The blue reflective light shined from the screen and casted on her face making her eyes look bluer. Atleast she'll look busy, even though she knew the machine was working.

McCoy shakes his head. He didn’t understand why, already out of space dock that someone was in need of medical attendance. Then again, there were children aboard this ship, Captain included. Jim might have been just seven years younger than him, but hell, Bones considered anyone that didn’t take things seriously a child.

“Not a problem…” his gaze drifted towards the computer console where he had left he interns. Bones arched a brow of annoyance in their general direction. He really needed to file through the cadet list next time, so that he wasn’t picked with girls on high about gossip….and Bones could have sworn they were talking about the Captain.

Typical…and speaking of devil. “Oh hell,” were his first words out in their brief conversation. Jim found his discomfort amusing. “I’ll be there in a moment. I have duties to finish…” he shut the transmission off.

Approaching Chapel at the bedside of the injured red shirt. He settled a hand on her shoulder, “I gotta go. The Captain wants me to be apart of the landing party…make sure the interns don’t spill the acid.” Not that he hadn’t done that before, but he sure as hell wasn’t going to let them screw up his sickbay.

Now with command shifted onto Chapel, he gathered his medical tricorder and put a few hyposprays in his belt pack before heading to the transporter room. Thank God it was just a couple of steps away once out of sickbay. Convenient layout, at least to his standards. Entering, Bones found Janice and Spock exchanging words to one another.

“So, why am I needed? I thought there wasn’t any life signs on the ship.”

With the sudden appearance of Bones followed by his question; Janice eyes shifted from her laptop to his eyes. "Just in case..." she said to the annoyed looking Doctor. "i mean, Who knows.. One of us could get hurt, So having you come with us would be..logical" she added while sending Spock a devilish yet innocent smirk.

Looking back at her Laptop she saw everything was in order and the laptop was working properly. She closed the laptop and slipped it under one of her arms. She couldnt help but get the feeling that she didnt belong there, but oh well. It was the captains idea. So if she ends up screwing up; which she doubted, It would be his head.

Ok, so maybe that wasnt the nicest way of putting it, but still.. Captains order. She shifted her gaze to the transporter wondering how it worked.

That hadn’t been the reaction he hoped for. Sure, Spock wasn’t the talkative type but at least he had some form of warmth in his voice. Sighing, Kirk turned the transmission off on his end.

Jim glanced over towards Uhura when she spoke up about still wanting to go. He couldn’t stop her or Sulu now. Both were determined. Hell, give them the simple retrieval mission and moral should improve. Perhaps even Spock’s little mood would change back to ‘normal’.

“Good luck, and stay out of trouble…Oh, and keep me inform on the communicator of your progress.” Kirk couldn’t go with them. Someone had to stay aboard the ship. He was the Captain.

"Kirk... I mean.. Captain. Your going?" She quirked her eyebrow and looked at Sulu and then back to the captain.

When she saw that he shook his head, she shrugged and pulled the switch for the lift down. "Transporter Room." The lift went down and opened on the transport room level.

Uhura saw the new girl, Bones, and Spock on the transport pad, ready to beam out.

She and Sulu both joined him. "It seems our captain won't be joining us.... Unlike him. Especially on our first mission." Sulu crossed his arms and sighed.

Spock still did not fully understand the concept of a joke. As he did not assume the Captain would just allow a new entry from Starfleet to join a delicate mission. Then again, Spock did not fully understand his Captain. He was, by the most part, going by what his future self told him.

Jim Kirk was his friend, that he had been told as much. And that their friendship would mold him, shape him, into…someone. Spock was still unsure of the whole thing, but would go with it for now. The half-vulcan inclined his head towards her as he stepped onto the transporter pad.

“Doctor,” he spoke the single word as Janice informed Bones of the possibility. A brow rose at Janice’s usage of his word. It was quite illogical. After a moment, Uhura and Sulu entered the room. Now, they were waiting on Mr Scott, and all would be set for this mission.

His lips parted to say something when his communicator beeped. An annoyed expression crossed his features briefly as he answered it. “Captain, we have yet to leave..therefore I have nothing to report….Sulking is not becoming of a Starfleet Captain……..You will be informed when our mission is underway…Spock out.” He flipped it closed, slipping it back onto his belt.

Uhura stood with her arms crossed, giving Spock concerned looks.
But other than that, she awaited the arrival of their engines specialist.

Sulu winked at her and resumed his casual bored look.

She rolled her eyes.

Janice stood on the platform waiting for something to happen. She was starting to get all jittery like a kid waiting in line to get on a ride at a theme park. After a while of waiting Janice started to click her heels together. Its not that she was impatient or anything, she was just getting very bored. At that moment Scotty walked in.

Scotty:"Sorry lads...." he said rushing over to the control panel. "Lets get this on the road." he said nodding towards the transporter

Bones eyed the young female. He hadn’t really noticed her before, and he wasn’t completely sure to the landing party onto the cargo ship. It was an interesting bunch and that spelled trouble all over it.

Grumbling to himself, he stepped onto the pad, clasping his hand lazily behind his back. He hated being transported. Bones’ fear had some grounds on it. He recalled the first testing for these damn things, and it hadn’t gone pretty. Mutated bodies, mangled and in agony.

‘…damn…’ he thought as Scotty came in. Things were moving now as the Chief of Engineer transported them from the platform into the cargo bay of the other ship. McCoy stumbled slightly when he took a step forward. He glanced downward, his eyes widen in horror, “Dear god!” Bodies littered the floor.

Starfleet hadn’t been joking about the ship being raided. Just in instinct, McCoy went to check the bodies on the ground, “Dead…” he checked over the fourth body on the floor. “…how did they die?” he questioned. There weren’t any visible wounds on the body. No phaser burn, nothing.

McCoy took out his medical scanner, hovering it over the body. “….I’ll stay here,” he informed them. The doctor was intent on finding out the cause.

Uhura gasped as they beamed down onto a pile of bodies she jumped back with a scream. "Oh my god!" She clasped onto Spocks arm. When noticing what she had done, she blushed and let go.
"I'm...sorry."

She gaped in horror at the bodies that littered the area.
"Who.. or what... could have done this to these people?"... She reached for her phaser, still saying unusually close to Spock.

Sulu scoffed. "This.. is disgusting..." He stepped over to Janice. "Don't worry sweetie.. I'll protect you." He gave her a smirk.

After beaming onto the ship, Janice was in complete horror and shock due to all the bodies that littered the room. "Oh my god.." she let out in a sympathetic voice. Her face became blank and a sense of sadness ran through her body. Her breathing became slower as she saw more and more bodies. "What did this?" she thought to herself. Stuck in a surreal moment, She shook herself out of it focusing on the mission.

Suddenly something stepped into her view. A Asian man wearing a gold uniform. He looked so familiar but she couldn't remember when. Suddenly it hit her, She saw him on the bridge, but no introduction was made. Well, She didn't really know ANYONE at ALL. Still in shock of what she saw, she tried to smile "oh hi.." that's all she could think of at the moment. She pulled the laptop out of her bag and pulled the laptops antenna out.

"........Sorry.." she said looking up at Sulu briefly then switching her gaze back to the laptop she was starting up. "My name is Janice Rand." she said sticking out her free hand. She didn't forget what she said on the bridge to herself: "First person to say hi, Thats your new friend" Her laptop started and connected to the Ships database via 'wifi' (xD). "Im not picking up any signals on the ship, Should i activate the emergency lights?" she said looking at Spock.

Fascinating. A little morbid but there was not a better word to describe what he was seeing. Also, it was not the first time he had seen this amount of bodies before. He flinched inwardly, at the gut wrenching image of his mother falling and he hadn’t been able to save her…

He was shook out of this by Uhura’s clasping of his arm. He was thankful and yet a little taken back, “It is not a problem…” he replied, scanning the cargo bay. His eyes focused to the dimly lit room, the emergency lights had seemed to kick in but halted mid way.

“I do not know,” he replied to Uhura, and carefully stepped over the body. “Doctor, I think it would be prudent to not touch the bodies as we are unaware of what could have done this.” The Vulcan received a look that clearly read, ‘shut up! I’m a doctor.’

His attention snapped over towards Janice at her suggestion, “Yes, Lieutenant.” Spock had forgotten that humans could not adjust their sight to this lighting. “that would be most helpful…” Spock slipped a hand around Uhura’s shoulders, as if to keep her from falling over the dead bodies…more or less, he was being protective of her.

Spock flipped open the communicator with his free hand, “Bridge, this is Commander Spock. We have run into the small complication….” He did not finish the sentence when Doctor McCoy had snatched the communicator away.
“Damnit man! This isn’t some small complication! Jim, we have a problem. The entire crew of the cargo ship are dead…I don’t know!” Bones hissed into the communicator, “I haven’t gotten to examine them..No, damnit Jim, stay put on the bridge. I got it handled…Look, I’ll keep you updated on what I find….”

Bones tossed the device back to Spock who caught it with ease. “Captain, I will inform you once we have retrieved the data…Spock out.” His gaze drifted to Uhura, “Lieutenant, seeing as the condition of the ship is proved most unsatisfactory…I would advise you to stay with the Doctor in conducting what has transpired here.”
