Bao already assessed that this would be harder than he originally assumed. Convincing this child into a state of security would take time.
"It was a necessary death. Kaimen was too dangerous to be kept alive.
You don't know a lot about him... do you?"

Ren stopped himself. He did watch Kaimen explode from a distance but he didn't want to believe it.
"What do you mean too dangerous? He was our Headmaster and he was suppose to protect us. You're the dangerous ones!"

Kansou said nothing. She stared at Ren with her head tilted while letting Bao try to win him over.

"I don't know when you came into the Gaian Ninja Academy. But when you did, it must have been afterwords.
Kaimen took the GNA over with force and drove out the previous Headmaster. Then he destroyed all the Dojo's and rebuilt them, but he never included two other elements and left them destroyed.
Those were people's homes, Ren.
People who come to the GNA are from far away places; they don't have homes around here except for the Dojo's they practice their elemental training in."
He started to pace back and forth in front of Ren.
"Can you tell me who he was trying to protect during that coup d'état?"

Ren stayed silent and didn't answer. This was news to him.
"You're lying. They could have just gone to a different elemental Dojo to learn something else and live there instead."

All their possessions were destroyed. Kaimen didn't seem to care either way. Now you tell me who the dangerous one is. He wasn't thinking about a future consequence that one of the members would turn their back on the Academy for the former Headmaster's side.
Who might have possibly planned an attack on it, might I add.
Let me give you an example. I could have had my men wipe you out but I didn't. I have thought out the possible consequences of what my actions might create.
If Kaimen were your enemy, you'd be dead without a second thought. True patriots are such."
Bao stopped pacing back and forth and stared straight ahead at a tree.

Ren was even more confused now but his tears were gone. This was a perplexing situation that was presented before him.
He never had to think on this kind of level before considering he was only 17. Possibly younger in his own mind.

Kansou let out a large yawn. Her hand hovered a few inches from her mouth. As she composed her features she spoke to Bao,
"Are you going to train him?"

Bao suddenly rounded on Kansou and stared at her. There were two yellow snake eyes glaring at her through the opera mask's widened eye holes. The mask took on the expression of being angered as Kansou would be able to see there was rage in his eyes. It was a clear indicator to stop talking.
Ren wouldn't be able to see because Bao was looking in the other direction.
When he turned around, the opera mask's features went back to normal. The mask's eye holes weren't widened anymore and the opera mask's expression was back to being expressionless.
"If you don't believe me then you should ask your peers when you go back."

Kansou's gaze retreated from Bao and settled on Ren. Her eyes were half lidded after being scolded.

Ren thought he misunderstood what Kansou said. His attention was quickly diverted to Bao's recent comment.
"When I go back? I don't understand.. I don't get what's going on right now."

Ren got to his feet after gathering the strength to stand up again.
