Canas had wandered off, leaving her all alone. yes, there were other people there, but she felt alone. Seated, she wrapped her arms around her legs. Her headache was still there, but something had changed. She felt fear and shock and pain, but more than that, an overwhelming feeling of sadness. She wondered what exactly was going on--or what had happened.

Fatigue threatened to overcome her, and she fought back sleep, knowing what would come with it. She did not need that right now, even if she did need sleep. That knowledge combined with her conflicting emotions, causing tears to well up and overflow. Wiping them away, she rose. For some unknown reason, she had the urge to dance.

She walked off into the forest and away from the camp, close enough that if someone were to call her she could still hear. Her hurried footsteps turned into slow, graceful steps as she reached a small clearing. Toes pointed, placing her feet down toes first instead of heels, she closed her eyes, her sash slipping down her arms and into her hands.

Dancing only to the music inside her heart, she twirled, spinning her sash up and around. Why she danced, she did not know, but it seemed--no, felt--like what she should be doing at that moment.

All emotion, all thought, everything she had at that moment went into the dance. She lost herself in the movement and the music no one else could see or hear.

Step step, twirl, spin, hold. Step step, twirl spin hold--

Toe heel, toe heel, toss--

Toe heel, toe heel, catch.

Left and twirl and bow. . . .

She held the pose, breathing slightly hard from the exertion of dancing. Finally, she stood straight, tears filling her eyes making everything blurry. She collapsed, dropping her sash. It fluttered gently, falling in a crescent around the dancer. Her eyes drifted upwards, finding the stars between the trees. A tear slid down her cheek.

Such beauty should not be marred by tears. . . .

She half laughed, half sobbed, reaching a hand to wipe her tears away.

"What am I . . . What am I doing?" she wondered aloud, making the half laugh, half sob noise again.

Sitting there, staring up at the stars, she just watched. Inside her head, the music was gone, as if it had faded away on a breeze just as quickly as it had come.

Ganon trudged along next to the stream, following the smoke and listening for the sounds of people. As he climbed the hill, he could see distinct moving shapes up above him, and he hefted his guitar a little higher and leaned forward. His talons dug into the soft dirt beside the river as he fought exhaustion and emotional fatigue on his way up toward them.

He was surprisingly quiet, and with all that was going on, he was able to walk relatively unnoticed until he was quite close, and with his long legs it was not long at all before he was in the middle of the campsite. He dropped the bag of pecans and set down his guitar, then swung off the sash holding his violin before he dropped down to sit on a rock and placed his face in his claws.

The last thing Ephraim remembered was strolling through the woods then all of a sudden....everything went black and if he recalled (if any) there was a sudden thud...but perhaps it was his own body landing on the dirt before he completly blacked out.

".........oww........" He barely opened his eyes and in time to see the person he punched earlier..wait..was this pay back..? Either way, Ephraim now had a throbbing headache and boy was it an unpleasant feeling. Whatever but that punch was enough to knock him out for...maybe a good five minutes...probably because..ow..wait...why was his left eye in so much pain? Oh hell no, as if the elbow to cheek wasn't bad enough, now a (possible) black eye? DUUUUURRRR, What worse could the prince get.

Blossom held Lance a little closer as Leon started to act angry. It's not outside his right, but still...! Lance is still injured! Blossom just watched Leon, not speaking until the man had fell into silence. "I'll get him to a healer as soon as we get back," Blossom told him, her own voice quiet. The trip had turned somber now, thanks to a brief sleepwalking (and sleeptalking) spell on Lance's part.

Blossom glanced absently behind her. She could have sworn she saw Ninian standing there, but as soon as she had seen her (as well as the obscured figure sitting a ways away from her, too covered by foliage and the dim lighting of dawn to distinguish anything), but then a branch moved in the way and she was out of sight. Blossom looked to Sue's back again, chewing on the inside of her lip as they moved towards camp.

[[To make things simple; Sue, next post should be in the camp thread, okay? We're on HORSES, we shouldn't take THAT long to get back. XD]]

Leon had rode slightly Further than Sue, Blossom, and Lance, but he kept them at hearing distance in case they needed him for any reason at all.

Up ahead he saw them, the two great practitioners of music: the dancer Ninian and the Bard, Ganon. Upon seeing the sacred moves of a dancer of life... the knight shut his eyes, and even with only the slightest bit of the magic Ninian called forward, he felt himself re-energized.

The magic was strange, almost tempting and bewitching, calling forth some of Leon's fondest memories...

His first meeting with Leena, the many records, good and bad that he and his good friend Magnet kept... sparring with the Watch's famous Hero Duo, Clang and Chickenwire respectively... and finally... the day he became an officer. They were all so very fond memories. Leon wanted to have more of them! To be honest, this had been the first time the Lieutenant ever felt homesick. He wanted to return... as soon as possible... embrace his friends, and tell them everything he never said. I miss 'em.. I miss 'em all.

Finally snapping out of his thoughts, he rode cautiously and closely to Ganon and Ninian, not wanting to disturb them. "I be... returnin' , members of FEF!" he finally said out loud, proudly. "Ganon, I 'erd that be yer name from Miss Blossom... it be good to see ya safe."

Feeling more than slightly dazed, Ninian meandered back into the camp. With a start, she realized that someone else was here, a rather large someone.

"Ganon?" she ventured slowly. Something seemed . . . wrong with him, but she couldn't tell what it was, not knowing the bard all that well. She could see that he held his face in his hands."Are you alright?"

Others came into the camp. It looked as if hey had fought a hard battle. She sat next to Ganon, if only to get out of the way. Then she noticed something odd about his appearance.

"Ganon, what is that around your neck?" She couldn't remember seeing it before.

Blossom tried not to focus on Lance still being unconscious as Sue's horse arrived in the campsite. She was silent as she slowly got off of the horse's back, stumbling with Lance in tow. She had managed to keep him from hitting the ground, though, and she quickly had him laying on the ground, relatively close to the the fire before standing back up to her full height. She hadn't realized that someone new had arrived until Leon spoke.

"Ganon, I 'erd that be your name from Miss Blossom... it be good to see ya safe."

Blossom's eyes went up to the hgi'val, widening in surprise. She hadn't seen him since his performance during the festival, before the morphs had attacked... he was there. His claws were bandaged, and she didn't recognize his scarf, but he was all right! "Ganon!" she cried out, rushing towards him. Blossom moved to hug him, then stopped a few feet away; he didn't just look physically tired. She dithered in front of him, taking a step away, then a step back before standing completely still, bare hands clasped tightly.

"Are... what's wrong...?" she tried, her voice quiet.

Ganon took a long, deep breath as he was approached, and lifted his face out of his claws. They had largely cleaned off, but still had dried blood crusted on them in places where they couldn't possibly be his-- except, of course, for the wounds in his arm where Teifi's scarf had dug in. "I... I'm fine," he sighed at last, sitting back. "I brought pecans," he added, gesturing to the bag at his feet.

It was Ninian's question that got to him. He'd almost made himself forget he was wearing it. Slowly, Ganon unwrapped the scarf from around his neck and held it out, letting it unfold and catch the morning sun.

The scarf was radiant. Colors and fabrics and designs interwove impossibly, drawing the eyes in headache-inducing swirls of beauty, and then he turned his claws, feeling the material slide through his claws. "This is Brisecschal, the blessed scarf of... of the legendary dancer, Teifi." He closed his eye again, then reached up to rub the bridge of his snout. "She... she's dead. I..."

Blossom watched Ganon warily; she wasn't quite sure what was wrong, but she was sure he would tell them. She took a few steps towards him, but there was still distance between herself and the large man. She nodded slightly towards the pecans, recognizing their existence. The scarf was beautiful, and Blossom felt the temptation to take it and feel it--it looked so soft--but she kept her eyes on Ganon's face.

"This is Brisecschal, the blessed scarf of... of the legendary dancer, Teifi. She... she's dead. I..."

Blossom didn't stand still much longer after that. She stepped closer to Ganon and hugged him carefully, trying to be careful of both the scarf he held and the wound on his arm. She didn't say anything; what could she tell him? Everything's all right? She's in a better place? It's not your fault? She just hugged him, desperately hoping she could offer any sort of comfort.

Dead? A legendary hero . . . dead?

It couldn't be. And yet here was Ganon, holding a sash most definitely not his own. She stared at the colors, never before having seen something quite like this. She reached her hand out, feeling the smooth fabric between her finger.

"Brisecshal," she whispered. She shifted her eyes away from it, back up to the bard. "Ganon, what happened? How--Is Teifi . . . really dead?"

It didn't seem real. A legendary hero, defeated? What did this mean?

She didn't know what to say, watching Ganon in a half shocked silence. Blossom wrapped her arms around him, also silent.

Slowly, reverently, Ganon placed Brisecschal in Ninian's lap. The material radiated a soothing power. "It... It was an accident," he murmured. "She said... Amelia left her, and then she... was acting so strange, and she attacked me... and I killed her accidentally. Trying to help her." He shook his head, wrapping his tail and right arm around Blossom to return her hug, nuzzling into her hair.

"At the end," he said after a moment, "She... she told me to give Brisecschal to a mother. And a dancer. Ninian, Teifi wants you to use Brisecschal. She could create blades of wind with it." He smiled bitterly. "... She also did this with it. Turned it into a grappling hook," he added, lifting his left arm to show the dancer the wounds.

"... Starting to get a little lightheaded," he said after another long moment. "Should probably have somebody look at this..."

"It's not your fault..." Blossom's voice was muffled against his chest. She was unsure if it was really the answer to anything to say that. But it would help, she hoped. Her heart clenched painfully at the sight of such a close friend rattled like this. The sensation of him hugging back, the nuzzle against her hair, helped relax her. He wasn't pushing her away from him, that was good. She tightened her arms around him, only looking up from his green scales as he mentioned getting medical help for his arm.

"That'd... be a good idea," Blossom murmured. She didn't pull away from him. "Sue might have another medical potion left... and if the others return soon from Fefga's manor, then we should have Victoria, at least, able to heal your arm..."

" 'E needs to be restin' in both body 'n spirit..." Leon said in a low tone to Blossom only, as not to ruin the somber mood that seemed to pass through everyone upon Ganon's arrival with somewhat uplifting, but mostly grim news. He then rode Anri back to almost the very same place of the campsite where he'd first mentally broke down but then picked himself up and was able to be a true leader.

It was here that Leon finally knelt at first and then rested, truly rested peacefully even if his bed was the earth. Hopefully, someone had roasted Sue's earlier kill that had all been forgotten. And maybe that dance didn't re-energize him... or did it? Instead of the torment of his past, or even his fears... Leon's fondest memories danced around him, as if they were beckoning, welcoming him back...

In the meantime, the Nomad Trooper Sue had bowed her head in silent reverence for Ganon's story of Teifi's passing. She hadn't known her personally, but those heroes all ate lunch with them! It felt... personal, actually.

She shut her eyes... and then opened them again in a second afterward. The Nomad Trooper was relieved to scan the campsite and find mostly everyone back. Only a few missing, and they'd return soon, right?

(( -is too lazy to get on Amara's account- >: ))

Amara kept silent the whole time, barely noticing anyone's presence. The small child was bundled up tightly in the green cloak, off in her own world. She was back to drawing in the dirt, trying her best to keep a smile on her face while worry gnawed on her heart and mind. She bit her bottom lip ever-so-slightly.

Her mommy was still gone. Where was her mommy? It had been quite some time...

A small sigh escaped her lips as she added small details to the sun that she was drawing. Why did her mommy go...?

"Ganon?"
"Ganon!"

The child looked up from her drawing, tilting her head slightly while she stared at the reptilian bard, distracted from her other thoughts. Something... something didn't seem right with Ganon. He seemed so... so...

Amara couldn't even think of a word to describe how she thought he felt (her vocabulary wasn't too big yet, though). So she made her way over, getting over to where Ganon, Blossom, and Ninian sometime after Ganon explained what happened to Teifi and showed his own injuries to Ninian. She stood there for a few moments, unsure what to do. Hug him? Start up a conversation of some sorts.

Silently, she decided to walk away at the mentioning of Sue. If they wanted Sue, then the little girl would find her. "Sue...?" Amara slowly wandered towards Sue, waving a bit to get her attention. "Sue, do you have any... uhm... po... poschion? For Ganon?" The child asked softly, unable to correctly pronounce "potion".
