“We…” the God started, emphasizing the ‘we’. He was obviously displeased with whatever the creature had persuaded him to do. “Have decided on an alternative. Instead of becoming a Deity, you two can go back to your world, and try to recreate it so it doesn’t become as it was before. You’ll be the only two left, and will have to pass down the rules to your children, and they will pass the rules to their children. When you two die, you can then join Currius and myself, but you will no longer have influence over the world.”
The two looked at each other. The God didn’t seem to give them much of a choice, but there was no point in arguing. He was, after all, a God who was giving them a choice on what they could do. The silence stretched on forever, and when it was broken, Amandier was the one who spoke. The words weren’t directed towards anyone in particular, though.
“I’d rather go back…”
All that was said, and suddenly, Amandier and Cecile were alone. Green grass surrounded them for miles, and in the distance things looked drier. There was a small, lush tree not too far off. Opposite of where the horizon began to brown, there was what looked like a forest in the distance. The pair stepped away from each other as the glanced around in bewilderment. “Where…?” was all Cecile could manage to say.
“I think…” Amandier started slowly, still looking around. “This is where Paleb’s temple was… this is what everything looked like before humans…”
A strong breeze picked up, moving their hair and causing the nearby tree to shake. It’s leaves rustled together in perfect harmony. Suddenly, Amandier realized there was only one thing to do. Taking Cecile’s hand in his own, there was a pause as the two looked at each other, and then set off. As the sun sank lower into the sky, the strange pair walked away. They walked away from the place that they had taken so much time getting to. A place they had put so much effort towards.
A place where they had destroyed the world.

Epilogue
“Cecile!” the boy cried.
“What?” she answered.
“Come here!”
The small girl emerged from behind a cluster of leaves, with an irritated expression on her face. Her blue eyes glittering in rage and her blonde hair a mess from going through the forest; the girl looked far from pleasant. “What, Amandier?” she said, her voice expressing as much irritation as it could. The small boy just grinned, crinkling up his brown eyes. His feathery brown hair stuck up at strange angles from his head.
“Look!” was all he said, excitedly pointing. The girl came closer and looked at the ground. Buried there was a beautiful white rock. The girl squinted, as if it would help her understand. There were carvings in the rock, but there were too many leaves covering it. She took a step forward and began clearing it off. Without word, the small boy began to help her. The two works side by side until all the debris were cleared away. The carved words were filled with dirt, making them easier to distinguish from the rest of the stone. “Read it!” he shouted excitedly. The girl frowned, and chewed on the tip of her tongue a bit before beginning.
“Read this, and remember that once, terrible things were done. Sometimes, nothing can be controlled. However, if you remember what you are taught, you have no worry. We did not know what would happen, nor do we. We can only hope our children will remember.
-Amandier and Cecile”
“Liar!” the boy cried.
“What?” the girl shouted angrily.
“It does not say that!”
“It does so!” she argued, putting her hands on her hips. She glared at the boy, a cruel look in her eyes. “You can’t even read! How would you know?”
“We didn’t write that!”
“There are other people named Amandier and Cecile, dummy!” the girl scoffed, pushing the boy. He stumbled, fell, and began to cry. The girl just ignored him and left the forest, his cries echoing behind her. She hadn’t lied, but she had left out a part. There, under that stone, somewhere in the earth, that Amandier and Cecile were buried. They had died so long ago, and here was their grave, forgotten in the middle of the forest. Cecile thought of the last lines on the grave marker she had also left out.
“We destroyed our world to create another. The world was built where it was destroyed, and now, we shall watch…”
