He looked down. "Sadly, not, i've...met others before, no doubt. More often then not , it would end up in some sort of argument. And when there was ever was the beginnings of a friendship, something cut it of." He shrugged. "I guess all those qualities you mentioned still weren't enough for friends, but i'm definitely the social type, I enjoy the presence of others."
"Well, my mother and sister, Lorlin...there the closet things i have to friends, but they're family, they don't count." He said firmly.

He lowered his eyes to the ground, brought them up after some thought. "I see," was all he said, although he looked to be very understanding of the situation. He knew what it was like to search and search, and to be brought up, only to be let down in the end. It was a tedious - and, oftentimes, heart-wrenching - process, one that left him rather empty as he left his old lands.
Yet he wouldn't openly show sympathy; never. That was never his way. It was in the small things, the looks, or the grazes with a wing or tail that expressed how he generally felt. This time, he didn't feel compelled to show immediate sympathy, however, only quietly settling his gaze on Lucifer's.
A light 'tsk', and he brought his face down to press foreheads with Lucifer. "My friends are my family. I suppose it would be different for some, who actually have blood relations to call their own." Drawing back, he asked, "Do they treat you well?"
A bit random, all things considered, but then again, the night had been anything but orderly. Aside from that, he couldn't help but be reminded of his own family, feeling his lip curl a bit in distaste. He quickly masked it by forming a line with his mouth.

He smiled. "My family... they treat me well, especially my mother and younger sister Lorlin. My father, is often busy during the day soaring the skies, and when he arrives at night i'm often away on my...adventures." He chuckled. "I see, have you made many friends over the course of your life?" He was almost afraid of asking about family, his face gave it away, his troubled family life.

A few teeth showed through in a subdued grin. "Adventures? Sounds like you're more than you let on," he mused, interest growing again. Once he was questioned again he paused, shaking his head.
"I left my old friends, along with my old home, when I traveled here." Looking up through ebony bangs, he studied Lucifer carefully. "I wanted to... start anew. To get my priorities straight. I... was not the best character, Lucifer. I have done horrible things."
Drawing his face away, he stared out into the horizon, his jaw clicking as it did when he began to grow uncomfortable. Would Lucifer leave? He'd already said too much, shouldn't have gotten carried away. But it was too late. He closed his eyes, sighed.
"I am trying to change," he said simply.

Lucifer stopped, nodding. "We've all committed mistakes, Viraj. Our job is to simply move on and learn from them.." He smiled.
"And my adventures... are simply scouting the lands, nothing grand or epic, honestly." He nodded. "And, um, I...think you've changed,I would've ever expected it out of your, your to nice."

He said simply, "Yes."
Shifting a shoulder, the kalona turned his body, angling it completely away from the horizon. He was now facing the forest again, alive and green and glowing in the patches of sunlight that penetrated the foliage. It certainly didn't look half as menacing as it had that night. Looking back, he was impressed that Lucifer had followed him through it.
"Lucifer," he began, blinking a couple times to force the heavy feeling from his eyes. He was getting tired, very tired. Strange how drowziness tended to hit one all at once sometimes, and very inconvenient. He began to walk, slow, even steps, toward the forest. "Come, let's take you home. I will sleep for a bit, and come for you later." Looking back, he struggled to keep his eyes open.
"I will not leave these lands just yet. There is more seeking I wish to do, others I would like to find, if possible. I hope you will not mind the wait..." He let the last word roll off his tongue, testing it. "... friend."
With that, he began to walk again, wings folded carefully at his sides and back to the sun. He was probably going to sleep all day, with his luck.
Ah, well. He was getting on in his years. It would be alright, just this once.
