Aw, poor Rhian. "Perhaps you could carry and umbrella around with you." That would help. Hm. That might make a nice gift for her some day, too. Lauss kept it in mind. "I enjoy not having to walk. I suppose that is one thing I'll dislike about growing." Learning to walk would surely be an experience. "Must be nice. You're lucky Ellandra takes you to so many places. I have only been out of the house a few times." He sighed a bit to himself. How unpleasant, not getting the chance to learn about other places and people. The thought just reminded him how badly he wanted to be an alter. Lee would surely let him wander around, even on his own, if he looked more... normal. "Miss Rhian seems graceful enough. When I'm not good at something I practice, though. Misha taught me how to hug, and so I have to practice it with Rosco sometimes to make sure I get it right."
Lee nodded, both a bit frustrated at what happened and happy to see Ellandra was in agreement. "I know. I thought he'd listen if I just said 'it isn't proper' and 'it's not nice', but that doesn't seem to be enough. He still wanted to go hunting with Uzi. I think she might just be a bad influence on him..." He wasn't meant to hunt, so why did he want to so badly? "Does Rhian ever do stupid stuff like that?" Don't tell me it's just Lauss...

"An umbrella?" Rhian asked; she didn't think she'd ever seen one of those before, or at least, she didn't recognize the term for some reason "What's that?" She tilted her head then. "If you don't get to visit places, get friends to visit you! I'd like to visit you!" Then she paused and flicked her antennae. "I'm not, though, I crash sometimes, and lots of wind spins me around and around"
Ellandra shrugged a little.. "She almost flew into a maneating plant, thinking she was playing a game."

Lauss tilted his head. "Miss Rhian isn't familiar with an umbrella?" Okay, that was it, he was getting her one. "It's something that blocks rain from hitting you. It's very useful." He nodded, happy to be able to teach her a little something. "I'd be very happy to have you come over, Miss Rhian." And he would be, too. Guests were just about the greatest thing ever, if they had something to teach; even if Rhian didn't, he'd be quite happy just to talk with her more. "That sounds unpleasant. Legs might be useful for you..."
"..." Lee blinked a few times before her jaw dropped a bit. "You sound so calm about it." She laughed a bit, to show she wasn't completely serious. "She was okay, though, right? Like, not missing a piece of her wing, is she?" Lee kicked her legs underneath her chair as she spoke, quite obviously comfortable talking with Ellandra again. "Where'd you guys manage to find a maneating plant, anway?"

Rhian tilted her head. "It sounds very useful, definitely." The little flutterby was very confident in that fact - in truth, she was confident in every word coming out of the other proto's mouth, for reasons she couldn't really define. "Oh, yay! I hope I get to visit you soon, and lots and lots! You're very nice to talk to, Lauss-teacher! and if we're around each other a lot maybe we really could grow together!"
Ellandra nodded, "Yes, she was okay, she seems to have a lot of luck in that area. And, hmm. . . well, I'm surprised you don't know where I'm talking about, you and Lauss should go there someday, to be sure. It's a plant nursery caled 'The Elysian Gardens", and the owner and his assistant are both, well, Owners. I'm sure Lauss would enjoy getting to learn about all the flowers that are there." Ellandra paused for a moment, then smiled softly. "As long as you can keep him well away from that lavender plant."

Lauss nodded to the other proto, happy to hear she enjoyed him as much as he enjoyed her. So nice. So bubbly. So pleasant. Even with those silly antennae. "Miss Rhian, you should see the Katan residence. It's quite large. You can fly quite high, as the ceilings are tall." Please come visit, please, please, please. "And there are very few wind currents to knock you about." Just a bonus, really.
Lee sat back in her seat and tilted her head. "I dunno if I should take Lauss to a place that has with a man-eating plant... But maybe when he grows a little." She kicked her feet a bit more. "Do you ever wonder what Rhian will look like when she's grown? Won't it be weird to get used to?" She couldn't imagine Lauss as anything but the weird little dragon-thing he was now. He would look like a person soon. She could take him out of the house. Heck, he could go out whenever he felt like it. It was almost too strange a thought.

Rhian's wings fluttered quickly in excitement for a moment before she settled down again. "Really, really, Lauss-Teacher? I would love t ocome - have you ever gone near the ceiling?" She chirped happily, greatly enjoying her time with Lauss. She liked him very much. Oh, that wasn't to say she disliked the other Essentics she'd met thus far, but this one, he was special somehow, she didn't que understand yet, but in some odd way she liked him more.
Ellandra tilted her head a litte. "I imagine, truthfully, Lee, that she'll look like herself - by that I mean her personality. It doesn't take much getting used to at all, unless the little one turns out to be as avoidant of clothing as Ziazan tends to be," she said softly, understand what Lee was really asking about. "The more human features might b a bit different from what we're used to at first, but they're still very much the same, only, you could say, older, and perhaps a bit wiser. And in Lauss and Rhian's cases, hopefully less danger-prone."

Lauss could recognize it, but he was quite happy to hear Rhian say that. He shook his head at her question. "I have not. I can't fly very high. I stay low to the ground for some reason." He had no way of explaining it, as magic wasn't his territory.
Rhian was different, as well. Uzi was a friend, Crux and Ziazan were teachers, Misha was a big brother, but Rhian... there wasn't a word he could think of that described her. Not a definition that he could easily match to his feelings toward her. He could say, however, that she was very pleasant.
Lee looked down at her lap. Good. She didn't want to think of Lauss as some stranger after he'd become an alter. A small giggle at the naked comment, and a bit of worry that Lauss would pick up that same habit, but other than that Lee was a very happy owner. "Wait, he'll be wiser? Like, he won't say things he shouldn't and make people uncomfortable kind of wiser?" That was really good news. Lee looked into the other room and watched the two protos. They were getting along rather well, it seemed.

Rhian tilted her head a little, regarding Lauss for a long moment. "Really? That's very sad not to be able to fly high - but it also means you must not crash much, either! It hurts more the higher you crash from," she said, her wings fluttering softly the entire time.
Yes, yes, Lauss-teacher was very special indeed. It might take more than one visit to figure out how so, but she knew she would, in time, find out just what was so wonderful about this servicer-Essentic before her.
Ellandra nodded, "I believe so, yes. They're much more limited in what ehy can understand as Protos, I think, outside of the areas covered by their purpose. . . magickers have a little more leeway, I think, from what I've seen, than socials or servicers but still, they're so focused on learning and accomplishing their purpose at this stage that anything outside of it seems to be a little. .. pushed aside. I'm no expert though, you'd have to talk to Banning or perhaps someone else to be certain, she said, pausing for a moment to catch her breath. ". . .but. . . yes, I do think he'll become a little more. . . . conscious of his actions when he grows. Keep in mind it might also come with a new set of problems, though - it's a bit like going from an infant or a toddler to a young teenager all at once; there will probably be some adjusting to do for him as well."

Lauss thought for a moment, not wanting her to feel bad for him. "I don't believe I would like flying much. If I was too high and dropped something, it would be a bother to have to fly down to pick it up." See? It's okay, really.
Again, he took a moment to think. "Miss Rhian, do you know much about hugging?" He'd learned a bit from Misha, like he said earlier, but relying on Rosco wasn't much help... practicing with someone that had arms might help him learn to appreciate it better.
Ellandra was so smart, Lee couldn't help but tug at her hair a bit in shame. How'd she learn so much about this? She nodded to her in acknowledgment, though giggled at the last part, even if it may end up being a very serious problem later on. "I can't really see Lauss having mood swings." Apparently a lot of things about Lauss growing up were hard to imagine. She looked over to the essentics once more, and back to Ellandra. "Lauss really likes Rhian, I think." He was very okay with her being perched on him, and generally more... Happy? Relaxed? What exactly did he look like?

Rhian tilted her head. "Not only that, but when you drop stuff from higher it breaks worse than if you drop it near the ground," she said sagely, not having a clue why that was but knowing it was true all the same.
Hugging? Lauss-teacher was askign about hugging? "Yes, yes, I give hugs all the time - hugging's very pleasant when you're feeling right about it!" The flutterby chirped, fluttering her wings cheerfully.
Ellandra, too, looked at the Essentics and blinked. "my, they are getting along rather well, aren't they?" She said softly, tilting her head. "Rhian usually gets along with other Essentics fairly well, but somthing here seems a little. . . different. Does it seem that way to you, Lee?"

Lauss nodded. "When we grow our legs, we won't have to worry about such things." Wow. This was weird. He's never found himself desperately wanting to find something to talk about with someone. With Rhian in front of him, he was quite afraid of silence. What an odd feeling.
"Do you think... you would like to practice hugging with me, Miss Rhian?" Lauss still needed to learn to enjoy it, and he found it quite unpleasant at the moment. Perhaps Rhian was right, he had to "feel right about it." She was so wise when it came to these things. So impressive.
Lee put a hand to her mouth and leaned in. "I think you're right." So, it wasn't just her. "Ya think they're old enough to get crushes?" Ellandra seemed like the one to ask. This would be the cutest thing Lauss had ever done if it was what she thought it was. And how could she dislike Rhian if it were the case? Even if it wasn't a crush, she'd pester Lauss either way.

Rhian nodded and peeked at Lauss. "Yeah, we probably won't. . . I wonder what it's like to walk with legs, it looks so interesting." Rhian was never a fan of silence, save when it was needed for one to calm down and relax, so she'd do anything to keep a conversation going - this felt different, somehow, though. She just. . . wanted to keep talking with Lauss, that was all!
"Practice? I didn't know you could practice hugging, but okay!" The flutterby said, sensing his unease with the idea, but excited that he was willing to try nevertheless. The flutterby lifted from her perch on Lauss arm - so it would be free for practicing - and fluttered around to face hi, before hugging him slowly, careful to keep her antennae from touching him. "There, like this!"
A smile that borded on the desire to break into a giggle appeared on Ellandra's face, and she covered her own hand with her mouth for a moment before regaining her composure and dropping her hand again. "I'm not sure if there's a standard. . . but I know Ziazan and Crux - have you met him? I think you might have mentioned him once, but I'm afraid I don't remember very well if so- very much care for one another, so I would say it's possible - and looking at these two . . . " she trailed off, though her eyes sparkled with genuine amusement and happiness. She had to fight down the urge to go 'awwwww' at the cute little scene before her.

Interesting sure was a word to describe it. "Somewhat halting. I wonder if it will be hard to see, with our heads moving up and down all the time." Okay, good Lauss, just keep the conversation going, no matter how off topic you get. Don't be boring, whatever you do.
Lauss tilted his head away as she moved closer, but held out his arms anyway. Such a strange experience. As her transparent arms wrapped around him, his back straightened and his heart beat faster. This was so strange. Never mind the discomfort of having someone actually touch him; replacing Rosco with Rhian made hugging... almost enjoyable. He tried to figure his arms around her wings, and ended up just squeezing her sides with his arms to simulate hugging the best he could. Okay, so her anatomy made this a challenge, but he was starting to understand why people chose to partake in such behavior. "Miss Rhian, you must be an expert hugger! Even better than Misha." After all, he hadn't gotten this strange, fluttery feeling when being hugged by him.
Lee's eyes widened when she watched to two embrace. That was... seriously adorable. "Wait, Ziazan... F-Faolan's Ziazan? And Trystan's Crux?! But... Wait, did Crux grow already?" She found it impossible, for an alter to have a crush on a proto. Even protos and protots seemed a bit strange. Are they gonna kiss? She bit her lip and blushed, smiling soon afterward. She looked upon the two like little kids, not completely sure what they were doing but being adorable all the same. She peeped up, loud enough for the protos to hear. "Hey Lauss, aren't you gonna kiss her?"
The proto released Rhian, and titled his head as he looked at her. "What is a kiss and why would anyone want one?"

"I don't think it will be," Rhian said, tilting her head a bit. "Ellandra and Ellandra-husband and Sibling-Zi all see just fine, after all, and they walk."
Oh, goodness, this was probably te best hug she'd ever had, but it was so different. . . was it Lauss' hesitancy? Was it just because he wasn't sure what to do? Maybe it was just because of . . . . whatever it was that was making him so very special. Either way, this hug gave her a feeling no other hug she'd ever had did - how strange and wonderful. "Thank you, Lauss-teacher!" she chirped upon being complimented - better than Misha-fluffy? Really? That was so nice of Lauss-teacher to say, because she wasn't fluffy and thought fluffiness ought to play a part in how nice hugs were - but then Lauss-teacher wasn't fluffy and she liked his hugs more than Misha-fluffy's. . . how odd, but nice.
Very nice.
Ellandra watched the hug, unable to keep a smile off of her face from the overwhelming cuteness of it all, until Lee's question distracted her. "Hmm? Oh, no, Crux is still a proto, or at least he was the last time I saw him, it's been a little while now, though. . . and yes, the very same." She didn't add any more to that, more interested in how the two little protos would react to Lee's suggestion.
Rhian, for her part, was shocked that Lauss teacher didn't know what a kiss was. She returned to her perch on Lauss' arm and peered at him. "You don't know what a kiss is, Lauss-teacher? They're. . . . like hugs, but different! They're for people who are more spcial and deserve more than just a hug. . ." She trailed off for a moment, antennae flicking in thought, before an idea popped into her head. "Special like you, Lauss-teacher!" she chirped, then planted a kiss on the service-proto's nose.

"Ah, I see." Oh crap. Nothing left to say. Dang... Lauss fidgeted -- for the first time in his short existence -- and looked to the ground as he thought. Why was Rhian so pleasant? Why did he feel this horrible and very enjoyable feeling when she was close? Perhaps it wasn't her... maybe it was the setting. Yeah, that made sense. After all, the carnival was quite an amazing place. He looked up to her again, looked at her wings, her antennae flicking about, the way she fluttered lightly... okay, never mind, it was definitely her. He wanted to ask her, needed to know why he enjoyed her so much, but couldn't get himself to do it. Not because he was afraid Lee would be upset -- she was actually quite happy at the moment -- but because something inside of him wouldn't let him. What was that restraint that kept him from speaking? Was it called being shy?
After that brief hug was over, he turned to Rhian's owner. "Miss Ellandra, may we move in with you?" He wanted to be near Rhian more. And they lived so far from each other as it was now. Please, Ellandra? Lee shook her head a bit to him, but not upset in the least with something she'd normally be embarrassed about. "Sorry. Have to wait a bit before we can go anywhere. I'm not old enough." She shrugged a bit, still looking upon the two protos to see more adorableness.
And she got it. Rhian's small kiss made the teenager put her hands to her mouth and supress a small squeel of excitement. This was almost too adorable, even when Lauss was involved.
Lauss looked up at Rhian and tilted his head after she kissed him. "I am special?" Rhian thinks that? She thinks the same thing he thought about her? She really was great... "But I am unable to do such a thing. I have no mouth." He pointed to his nose, the other hand drooping to his side. How unfair.
