Rayden listened to Lucifer's talk silently, not moving an inch, just like a tall statue. Though, as the Prince of Hell stepped towards the grim reaper's look-alike, Crowe couldn't help but to tighten his grip around the pole of his scythe; oh, how tempting was it to give him a swipe, right around the neck. The temptation grew even stronger as Lucifer turned around and walk away. This very moment could be the one to free Crowe from his annoying boss, and at the same time, at least temporarily free the world from him as well. "I'm sure the Heavens would be pleased as well..." He thought to himself, narrowing his eyes, ready to swiftly strike... Unfortunately, another pest got to them right before Crowe's moment of glory. Sanosuke had popped up, almost from nowhere, crying to Lucifer for revenge and something about paintbrushes... Rayden didn't really follow anything the other advocate spoke about, has he did not care.

As the "mummy" stood straight again, the cloaked one brought a hand to his temple at the whining of Sano. Not only was Sano starting to also get on Crowe's nerves with his brushes story, but just hearing Lucifer was just as bad. His middle and index fingers still on his temple, Rayden turned his head to the right and shook his head a few times. "A grown man actually crying for brushes, the Devil and his favorite servant pinker than the other... What's next? Even the dog is more evil than all of them together; I'm actually surprised the angels haven't dispatched us already. Am I the only one that actually fits the job in here?" Rayden thought to himself. "... Or am I actually the one who's not fitting? He whispered to himself, finishing his thought.

With a sigh, Rayden let his arm fall back to his side and looked back to the Devil. Leo's presence could be lightly felt again. Lucifer's birthday was just around the corner again, and the meetings with his uncle, God, and the angels were always quite the party, apparently. Rayden had never been to one, not that he ever was invited, but still heard the stories of the yearly disaster. Despise his apparent dislike for him, Crowe took a deep breath and swallowed his pride; maybe a conversation would make the time go faster... "So. I'm guessing there will be a banquet for your birthday soon enough with God, am I right? Planning for the usual chaos, or are you opting for a change and go there in peace for the first time?"

The messenger arrived swiftly after being dispatched, bowing to his lord as he entered the chamber. He eyed Rayden wearily, then handed over the reports. " M'lord, these are from Sargent McNell, these are some of the recruits that the Sargent thinks would be appropriate for higher positions in your advocates. He said this batch might even be worthy of choosing his replacement. I will leave you now." The man bowed, then turned and left the room.

ANNOUNCEMENT ABOUT BANQUET

Hello everyone, I have been tied up in real life but should have a post ready soon. I have to point out that the banquet isn't here yet, I shall announce the day it begins for it will be an all day event and right now it is night time in the rp.

Also, I hope to have all the members on board for the banquet so I pushed it back a bit so give our newer members time to catch up. This way they will not be left out because of where they are in their stories.

Please edit your post accordingly so that you are preparing for the upcoming event. An introduction to the banquet will come soon once everyone is up to date.

Thanks! Hoshi~

As night fell, Amia finally retreated to her daily training and started to walk back to her bedchambers. Her heavenly garment flowing and shimmering around her as she walked gracefully down the long corridors.

She had heard some of her bretheren talk of a banquet. And the guest of honor was... Lucifer himself. She spat at the idea and could not, for the life of her, understand why her Lord would even think of letting that creton step one foot near the holy grounds. But she trusted her Lord and thought it wise to not show much disproval.

Come to think of it... when is this banquet? she thought as she neared her door. She thought she spotted something 'nilla colored on the floor and bent to pick it up. She saw that it was addressed to her but didn't bother opening it until she had closed and locked her door.

Her room was very elegant and she was one of the lucky few to have a window view of the courtyard (picture her room near the center and in that very center, the courtyard). She summoned up light for her lamp and sat down in her chair near the window to read the letter aloud...

"Dearest Amia, you have been invited to attend our upcomming banquet in honor of Lucifer. . .

The letter then went on to describe the time, date, etc.

So this banquet is tomorrow? That's very short notice but I never get to go to these things. I might as well enjoy it even though I'd never let him in at one of our banquets. Ah well.. Might as well catch up on my rest then. It's already getting late enough as it is.

She set the letter and it's evelope on her nightstand and put a paperweight over it. Before she retired to sleep, she did her nightly ritual of meditation and prayers. It was soon after that she retreated into her soft, down-filled pillows and mattresses as darkness, and sleep enclosed her.

User Image“Uh…oh…sounds like Pomfry has been found out,” Mused Lucifer as sudden ruckus filled the air, resounded quite well in the expansive manor. “Sano, just be careful not to make him turn into the Hellhound…or tempt him with anything resembling fluffy bunnies…I learned that the hard way earlier…” Lucifer mumbled the last bit, he was still lamenting over the loss of his slippers as he finished his sandwich in thought, before Rayden brought him back.

Lucifer paused at the sentence, then repeated almost to himself as he looked away from Rayden. “For a change, go there in peace.” How utterly ironic, thought Lucifer. His voice was now reflective and soft, stripped off was the usually playfulness or sarcasm. “There was a once when I did go in peace, assuming that I would die that day, but instead someone dear to me suffered cruelly.” He paused, thinking, and his voice was harsh and bitter. He turned so his eyes fixed onto Rayden as he said “So, you will have to excuse me for I don’t believe I will ever be in peace there.” And now his seriousness faded, replaced by his Cheshire cat smile, “Why don’t you join me at the banquet? Maybe then you can have a taste of the personalities that mingle with the creamy clouds of the heavens, see which pleases your palette more…” Lucifer was going to wait for Rayden’s response when the sound of bare feet slapping upon marble hurried towards the kitchen. A sound all too familiar to Lucifer.

“LUCIFER!” screeched a women’s voice. Lucifer rolled his eyes in slight exasperation. Mitsu, his seer and cousin stormed into the kitchen wearing a flowing muslin white dress, her hair free flowing and slightly disheveled. “I have called you at least 120 times, have you blocked me?!” she angrily chucked her iphone straight at his head, though it went straight through Lucifer’s head, causing a mist like wisp after it, swirling his image slightly as if it were made of a gaseous substance. Lucifer shook his head experimentally, checking that it was solid before grinning at her. “My dear, why on hell’s finest fiery pits would I block my greatest prophet!” he proclaimed.

“I leave you messages of foretelling and foresight, but you still give me the cold shoulder! Why!” She was now standing in front of him, looking up into his face for answers, her eyes searching hungrily. But then her voice was soft and full of concern. “I hope you are still not angry at me from last year’s event, I couldn’t have foretold that she would die, not Delilah…” She knew instantly that she had hit a sore spot for…

Lucifer’s face went oddly stony. It was like a double punch in the stomach, one from Rayden, and now from Mitsu. He didn’t wish nor want to discuss this here…or ever. Mitsu had glimpsed a death at the previous banquet; she had obviously assumed that the person hated by most who sat around him would be the one…Lucifer. But it wasn’t, instead, it was the person he had secretly chosen to be his one and only, who would travel along the river Styx. Fate must have made her playfully tug the goblet out of Lucifer’s intended hands, and send the scalding liquid into her own musically…beautiful…throat. The ugly scene that followed as the poison gripped her convulsing body. It took everyone at the table by surprise; all was a state of havoc, all except one. As if time had been slowed while angels, healers, and advocates rushed about…one stayed seated. Lucifer’s and Gabriel’s eyes had locked for a second, no for an eternity that was filled with enough hate and angry worthy of hell’s deepest fiery pit.

Lucifer’s fists clenched and jaw was set as he was made to relive that painful moment again. Mitsu almost cowered as she hesitantly whispered, “Luci?” Trying to call him back as she did when they were children.

A messenger entered the kitchen, a pile of reports tucked under his arm.

“Ah, work!” Relieved at something to take his mind off of the uncomfortable memories, Lucifer was grateful to receive the bundle. A reason to keep his mind away from a dark path. ““So much to do, so much to do, and look at the time!” He said, mimicking the White rabbit from Wonderland. Returning to his comical self until the serious look upon Mitsu’s face paused his act.

“Mitsu, I don’t blame you. I just…You will come with me to do banquet.” He touched her lightly on the shoulder, if there was anyone he was close to then it was Mitsu, whom he regarded as a little sister. “Crowe, I shall speak with you once I finish business. I hope you have an answer for me by then.” Nodding to both, he vanished on the spot, not leaving any trace, but a gentle breeze and a sink of dirty dishes.

Mitsu stared at the spot where Lucifer had stood…

“…a tortured soul worthy of the land he rules…” she whispered then realized that she wasn’t alone in the room. She had never met this advocate, though had heard much from Lucifer. She inclined her head courteously in his direction and introduced herself. “Mitsu Beelzebub, pleased to meet you finally.” She said in a soft voice. Mitsu was already trying to make out his aura, but…

While Lucifer was in mid travel from here to there, he contacted Leo and asked for his opinion on the new recruits, while papers flapped about him. Leo, who was on top of everything, had already received the descriptive information and background on each, as well as some exciting news. A soul was now classified as ‘DISTRESSED.’ Came the slightly crackling voice of Leo through the phone, darn reception while traveling through the depths of hades, never mind the roaming charges one could rack up. But the news had come across and the two agreed with a ‘click.’

Lucifer appeared at the training area which entrance was situated in a cavern over looking a very well known and highly photographed volcanic pit. The black curtain door parted as Lucifer approached, stepping into an almost friendly business like area. The reception room was white walled, CFC lit as it showcased framed portraits of successful advocates, and a variety of potted plants. As well posters of self esteem boosters, proverbs, and adverts were plastered about or left as leaflets on coffee tables. A green paper read “A new course now offered: Tips in Persuasion, taught by Professor Serpent. Night classes are filling up quickly!” On the walls was a scroll with“A reaping of souls a day keeps the doctor away” written, while another showcased. “Mint Fresh! A first impression is important! Sway them with a fresh offer! (Comes in winter fresh, mint, apple, and new – watermelon)” a canister of samples was close by. Absorbed in the different choices in samples, Lucifer was nearly killed by surprise when a gaggle of headset geared female receptionists screamed, “ITS HIM!” They ranged from sassy girl punk rocker to middle aged country housewife to even a grandmother sporting a tall beehive do and enough sass to compete with the punk rocker. “Mr. Satan, I just adored your new book.” “Can you autograph my mug!” “Where in hades is my camera?” “Oh, I can’t believe it, and in person too!” “Thank you so much for the lovely flower bouquet and chocolates on appreciation day!” “Please Ladies, thank you, and of course I’ll sign, glad you like them, you know me and chocolate,” he gave them a little wink that caused some to fan themselves with a “Soul Searching? We can help!” pamphlet. As if it wasn’t bad having someone like a movie star walk into the room, those waiting for testing had just glimpse their future and most revered boss, turned if possible greener with nerves and butterflies in the stomach. One actually had to run out of the office and throw up again. “Now just take a deep breath and believe in yourselves.” Lucifer reassured them with a smile, causing several of the girl test takers to blush and form silly little smiles.

“Now I am looking,” Lucifer referred to his stack of papers, “for an Astril Ressein” Lucifer looked up at the grandmother who nodded and pointed down the hall, “She is in test room 3 dear,” And with a bow of farewell, Lucifer departed into room 3 where the white door actually opened into a expanse of cliff that jetted over the volcanic pit. However, white chairs were placed in rows near a bulletin board and water dispenser on the right side of the entrance while a secretary looking female was typing up notes on a computer in an office like set up to the left. A librarian bun coaxed the brunette hair with streaks of gray. “Please state full name and test number then take a seat to your right until your number is called,” she said a crisp business-like tone, as she adjusted her glasses and not looking up from the flashing computer screen. “Um…let’s see, one of the names I go by is Lucifer IV, but there is also Satan, The Devil, Angel of Death, Lord of Darkness, Chaos…Sweet Tums, but my mum only called me that one.” Lucifer counted off his fingers. The secretary’s poised hands above the keyboard faltered as she realized whom she was dealing with. “SIR!” she said, so flustered that her chair was knocked over as she jumped to her feet. “No worries Gladis, I hope you do enjoy your vacation time, I know you’ve worked hard.” He reassured her. “I see the Sergeant over there, I’ll just go bug him a bit, shall I?” he said with a playful wink and left when she had calmed down. Ah, newlyweds! He thought, knowing that Gladis would retire once the Sarge found a suitable replacement.

“Drake McNell!” Lucifer saluted the well tan and built war veteran, who snapped back with a hardy, “Sir!” Then they both shook hands and exchanged pleasantries. “I hear you have a recommendation?” Lucifer inquired. “I believe we have a fine cadet here,” Sergeant McNell indicated to the lass nearest him.

“Ah…” Lucifer bowed with a flourish as he bent over to kiss the hand of Astril. “A pleasure to make your acquaintance Astril, please address me as Lucifer. As star pupil of class 2009 I wish to entice you with a little challenge worthy of one who has caught the Sergeant’s keen eye for achievers. Above in the mortal world resides a Distressed Soul, Joshua. He has been tempted and should you choose; I hope you can tempt him further into a deal and seal the pact before our feathered friends appear. Do you accept my test?” Lucifer inquired with a smile.

Gabriel contained himself from nearly chocking over the words Marius had uttered, "So, the devil's coming here, it seems. Is that why everyone's all fussing around, you think?" Dear heaven’s pure light was this man this naïve! Gabriel could only nod his head before Solstice appeared.

Though he gave a huff at the ‘no incidents’ as long as Lucifer didn’t do anything…then Gabriel needn’t act upon anything, though Lucifer had irritated Gabriel so thoroughly last time, that everyone should have been relieved that Gabriel resorted to poison rather then calling open his spear right then and there. He had warned Lucifer ever since they met as kids, “You will lose everyone you hold dear, like I have. I will make sure of it, smothering their lights, one by one…remember that…” Oh, he had succeeded, at a cost…but it was worth it. He knew that while he failed to kill the Dark Lord, he had killed someone very very close.

He paced outside the fitting room, knowing very well that if they weren’t discussing tactics, -which in that case Gabriel would have been included- then they were talking about him. Growling he prowled off, not wanting to eaves drop on the obvious. Gabriel had no intention of trying anything covertly this time, but…

…with a clenched fist he headed back into his own chambers that over looked the training grounds.

A scroll of tan parchment was given to a beautiful phoenix bird that was the size of a peacock with golden plumage. The phoenix, whose name was, Freaya, took the parchment into one of her talon feet and rose gracefully from the perch near her master. She swooped up into the air and began the journey back into the divine realm to rely the message. It was a long journey, but she glided with ease through the field of delicate swirling clouds as the blue sky melted into hues of pink and gold. The floating castle appeared bathed in a night sky of ever growing darkness which was complete by the time Freya reached a bay window of Marius. She tapped gently upon the glass as she glowed, emitting a faint glowing light just as the castle glowed and shimmered in the casting moonlight. There she waited until Marius bide her entrance so she could deliver God’s message to him.

Astril smiled warmly at her master, her body tingling at his touch of his lips. The other girls in the camp and been right, he was a looker. She was awed by his very presence, which radiated charisma. Hearing his proposition almost made her burst into tears. He was giving her a chance to become a military leader, one of the higher ups. She could barely contain her excitement. She took a minute and stepped away from Lucifer's hand, turning her back so that he couldn't see her eerily big smile. She made a small squealing noise, then contained herself and turned, curtsying to her lord. "It would be an honor and a privilege sir..." Her voice silky, the words rolling off her tongue in the most pleasant of ways. She accepted the assignment, awaiting the coordinates and instructions that accompanied her new job.

(( Is Mitsu god's daughter? Since shes Luci's cousin..))

User ImageThe sounds of a pounding car stereo pervaded Falor's ears. She felt her vision jump, and she wanted to storm across the dark street and tell the obnoxious social twit to turn his music down; there were other people on this earth other than him! Falor sighed, clenching onto her books that were pressed hard against her chest. She wished she had learned that lesson a long time ago. Falor saw that her favorite cafe was still open, and she nodded to it, as if acknowledging its bright golden lights as a signal from God. Come here, and everything will be fine, it said. Falor wanted that permanent sanctuary, to be able to give anything for the life of her brother. To atone for her sins of petty vanity, way back then, it seemed, when it was only four years ago when it all started.

Falor walked into the cafe, sitting at a window seat automatically. A waitress, about 25, red hair stringy and curly, set a cup of french vanilla coffee underneath her nose. The tray was silver, holding a canister of cream and a bowl of sugar, and of course her cup of coffee. Falor spied a rack of scones and cookies in front of her, like always. Falor took a rasberry scone, jamming three spoonfuls of sugar into her coffee. Then she blended in a half a cup of cream, just how Clistophar used to like it. Falor angrily snapped open a book and bit into a scone, stabbing into the crunchy outside with her teeth. Thinking about her own stupidity and Clistophar's sacrifice made her hate herself. "Clistophar..why didn't they take me?"

After getting the information, Astril was off. She learned that the boy was a struggling musician, and that he had been tempted earlier by music. She began planning the best way to temp him again. Seeming as music was his medium she decided her voice might do her some good in this situation. The art of persuasion was her gift, she might as well make use of it. Listening carefully the clerk at the front desk, she found out that he usually stopped at a bridge every couple of days. She decided this place was as good as any to temp the boy. Nodding as the woman finished giving her the information, she set off. Determination drove the young advocate, and she wanted to prove that she could make it, that she was worth it. She took out her small pocket watch and set it to the date and time she needed to be at the bridge. All she had to do now was wait. Astril decided to go tour the grounds, she had never been past the gates on the outside of Lucifer's mansion before.

ZACHARY JOHN BULLOCK

Tempted by the dark...

Zach swore to himself when he realized that the Banquet wasn't tonight. He grumbled on his way back to his home. He was surprised he didn't see anyone the whole way.

After he got home he changed into a pair of jeans and a t-shirt then went outside and watched as the sun slowly set. He shifted his wings on his back and thought, 'Now is as good a time as any to practice flying.' Zach slowly started flapping his wings and got aloft. After hovering for a minute he started zooming around. Flying was amazing... until Zach crashed into a tree.

Zach slid out of the tree with twigs and leaves all over him. As he set foot on the ground he started picking out the twigs and started walking back towards his house.

Solstice rolled her eyes, but her smile was pleased. Marius was quite the charmer when he tried to be, then she sighed knowing that he was the next one on her list to defend the distressed. She only hoped that if the duty called, it would not be during the banquet. That could cause more unneeded tension between the parties present, and considering last year’s fiasco…the death of that woman, that sorely unneeded death. Her heart was heavy as she changed back into her normal clothes. She had been the one to react first, seeing the instant the poison to take hold, and yet no one had been able to save her, not even God or Lucifer, and they both had tried. So, it was a wonder that Lucifer would even agree to this mess. Looking around to make sure no one would see her; she opened her shockingly gray wings. The Captain of the Holy Warriors was a fallen, living among the others as if she was not. Her wings propelled her home quickly. These wings could condemn her to Hell and Lucifer’s service if word ever escaped to him…a single feather is all he would need. So tomorrow she would bind her wings down, no one could see, no one could know. As she folded them in, she thought of how she had earned the cursed things.

It was barely two years ago, she realized, when she had done the condemning deed. Her dearest friend, and potential fiancé had been tempted by a particularly bold Advocate, and…her friend, the at the time Captain, had agreed. What the deal was, Solstice never knew, as she had immediately struck out, removing head from shoulders before the soul could be surrendered to the Advocate’s grasp. The Advocate left immediately for which she was grateful, as the psychical shock of falling slammed into her, shocking her core as her pure white wings dimmed at once, and the taint soaked into her. But, somehow she had survived the transition without being discovered, and truthfully, she knew God must know. That gave Solstice pause. He had to know…but then why was she allowed to remain here? And much less at his right hand? Her hair fell as she shook it out, he had his own reasons.

Solstice looked at her bare hands, able now to see the stains of blood on her hands in her mind’s eyes so clearly. Those hands hung up the gown in her closet for the next night. She knew she looked lovely in it, and would for the banquet, but…how would it go? With a strong sigh, she knew her thoughts were going to keep her awake all night. So she changed into the traditional robe, folded her wings in, and sat out on her balcony, just in case her warriors needed her.

The waters of the bridge lapped gently below, and Joshua let out a soft sigh, leaning his head on the railing with an exhausted look in his eyes. It had been a particularly long day at work, though he had never really minded working extra hard to achieve his goals. The violin he usually had with him was seated gently against the railing at his feet, and pausing in his thoughts, he looked down toward it. There was no harm in practicing, especially in a place like this. Perhaps he would be able to overcome his nervousness, conquer the fears that his music would sound like absolute garbage to the ears of his listeners. He lifted the instrument from its casing like it was a most precious child, sighing as he ran his fingers along the smooth wood casing. It was amazing, what sounds some musicians could coax from their instruments...he, however, had yet to learn how to do such a thing.

He placed the butt of the violin underneath his chin, inhaling a soft breath before he began to play. Joshua was not a half-bad violinist - he was often cowed by the magnificence of the violinists in tune together in a gigantic orchestra to recognize his own talent. The notes were sweet and soft, a lullaby and a love song. The love he held for his music was incomparable to anything else that he had ever experienced; he had loved women and gotten them gifts and made love to them, but he had never really pursued them like he pursued this one dream. A woman passing by smiled at him, her hand closed around that of her daughter's, obviously on their way home. His pale lips uplifted into a faintly friendly smile directed back at her, the bow moving in a gentle sway, his long fingers climbing their way up the neck in a crazy cacophony, though by some strange means they did not sound bad. Joshua may not have been beautiful, like other men and women of these days, but he could play a violin...

"Oh, what a tangled web I weave..." He sighed softly to the air.

"Dont we all?" Astril was sitting a litte ways away from Joshua, smiling sweetly, dainty hands playing with the little small, sliver pocket watch that hung from her side, chain tinkling softly. She spoke in her softest, most innocent voice. "Your music is quite lovely, do you know that? I love the Violin." She scooched closer to the man, humming a delicate melody to parallel the beauty of the music he created. It was a magnificent sound, she didnt know why the man was so ashamed of it. Astril started to sing now, her voice floating on the breeze, like a dancing feather, it weaved in and out of the melody of the violin. She winked at the man, laughing a bit. " ...You could be better...people would beg for you to play, and praise you for it. It would touch the essence, the very soul of those around you. Playing from the heart is what you do, why not show everyone what the music sounds like to you in your head, how lustrious and rich it is. Even imagining it makes me want to weep." She purred, and her voice was delicate and smooth, like velvet sliding right off her tounge and into the man's ears. It was pure like a chimming little bell. "All you have to do, Joshua, is wish for it. I promise you, your music will be like nothing the world has ever seen."

.::Marius::.

~*~

After an afternoon of shopping for an outfit, Marius was skipping when he got back to his residence: a small, cozy, and humble section of a tower. Many would wonder how such a high-ranking angel could live in such a place. But, to Marius, it was the only place he could live. The outside was gaily adorned with vines of green, speckled with colorful flowers, mostly in shades of blue, his favorite color.

He was not skipping for any reason other than the fun of it; his excitement for the banquet was not nearly enough to invoke such a response. Whenever he had gotten a strange or dirty look, he ignored them. And whenever the look was puzzled, he only gave them an ear-to-ear smile, befuddling them all the more.

Upon entering his place, he kicked off his shoes and closed the door, enjoying the feeling of the carpet under his mismatched socks. After putting his bounty on his pinstriped couch, he stretched, enjoying the freedom of privacy, and was about to make his way to his bed for a quick nap when he saw the golden beauty outside of his window. Smiling with the awe of a child, he made his way to the creature and opened the glass separating them.

"Well, hello there!" he said with delight. "What have you got for me?" he asked, noticing the parchment in her talons and opening his hand palm-up.

User ImageFalor saw her past colleagues across the street, all of them sharing a decadent frozen treat from the frozen custard stand. Why were they out so late, and enjoying a treat such as that? Falor wouldn't be outside like that, eating something so cold. She had stopped eating such cold foods when her brother died; it only added to the ache in her heart.

Falor walked down the steep slope that many rowhouses made their foundations upon. She passed many types; wooden and brick, red and yellow, housing two families or three. Falor knew her house from heart; the house that was the last on the slope, starting at the very beginning of the even road. It was brick, different shades of red standing out, even against the dark night sky. The roof was flat and square, enough to house the ramshackle gutters and the horrendous inside. Falor's house was usually filled with yells since Clistophar's death. Some days, she never even wanted to open the door. This day, though, Falor ventured into the commonly feared unknown. Her hand gripped the chipped doorknob tightly. Her eyes were filled with fear. "Mom, dad, I'm ho--!" Falor let out a shrill shriek as a plate of fine china was hurled at the door, shards of it landing outside of the house. Falor ran away from her home, deciding that now was the best time to flee.

Falor ended back up at the cafe where she had started, holding her small orange book open as she sipped a steaming hot cup of coffee. The vanilla aroma always loosened her up, as did the light decadent taste of the dark, hot beverage. It was perfect at any time. Especially with good cookies like these ones at the shop! Falor smiled, her first genuine smile of the week. She read a passage in her book that so greatly reminded her of her brother. "His silence only alluded to his inner pain, the fragile glass heart of a adolescent crushed. By whom? None other than his own love. A tragic end to a good heart's beginning..." Falor read the passage to herself, all the while yearning for her older brother back...

“Wonderful,” Lucifer replied as he clapped his hands together. “Now, good luck, if you return successful, then maybe our beloved Sergeant can retire.” And with that Lucifer bade her and those around farewell before disappearing on the spot.

Again in travel mode he called Leo… “Are you home yet?” His voice had a hint of a whine in it. A pause came from Leo’s side, and then he replied, hinting that an eyebrow was lifted questioningly. “No, I actually have another distressed soul I’m going to go investigate…why? What happened?” Lucifer pouted into the receiver, his voice was dramatically sullen. "Why would anything happen to little ‘ole me…I’m only the King of Hell…and slightly miserable…but I’m just going to pig out on my anti-depression chocolate.” He finished with a theatrical sigh that caused Leo to roll his eyes, though he didn’t doubt that Lucifer would indeed go through a pack of oreos and French chocolate truffles, no matter where Leo tried to hide them. “Just don’t eat too much to earn yourself a sugar rush.” Leo chuckled into the phone and worked on coaxing a whining Lucifer to hang up, promising that he would bring home some sweets from a café if Lucifer promised not to touch any of the sweets. On a cheerier note Lucifer agreed, hung up, and continued on his journey home.

A man brushed his raven hued bangs out of his eyes as he crossed the street from where a moment ago he struck up a delightful conversation with an adolescent in an old 1969 Chevy Camaro Coupe, refurbished and spruced up with dark red paint while two black lines were parallel across the car’s buffed body. Leo had even remarked his appreciation of the car, causing the blond haired youth to turn down the blaring music as he became enraptured in the conversation, pointing out the powerful engine and fine tuning. “I always thought that playing Mozart would complement this car very nicely.” Leo added, letting his hand run along the car’s hood. “Really? You think so?” The youth replied thoughtfully, still entranced by the conversation. “Yes, I do, and by luck of have his CD here, why don’t you pop it in and listen for yourself?” A CD of Chopin materialized inside the pocket of Leo’s black coat. Handing it to the young man who eagerly took it and played it in the car’s stereo. The youth stroked his blond goatee as he listened to Mozart’s Allegro. “Yeah, yeah it really does,” he said almost more to himself. And there Leo left him, smiling as the young boy’s head swayed with the music of...Mozart…

Leo walked into a quiet café and took an intake of breath, letting the smell of fresh crispy baked goods and warm brewing drinks fill his lungs. Always wonderful to return to the mortal world, he sighed inwardly. His spied the assortment of delicious treats set upon trays behind a glass, before remembering that Lucifer’s tummy would have to wait for he was here on an assignment. He needed to asses, Falor Devond, and figure who would be the best advocate to achieve a pact with her. This was his job as the Lucifer’s Left Hand Man, Leo was in charge of coordinating matches between distressed soul and advocate, though Lucifer had the final say. Once Lucifer made him go do a deal himself rather than send another advocate. Leo was surprised for the man had been the Captain of the Holy Warriors and his wish…Leo shook his head from the thought.

Throughout this time it looked like Leo was a newcomer in town surveying a potential place to call a second home, his unusual red eyes sweeping the café from the threshold. There sitting near the window was his intended target, another check of his iphone confirmed it. Leo walked over to the table beside her’s. His rolling gate was graceful as he made his way swiftly to the window, watching the camaro’s red tail lights pass the café, a hand sticking out and waving as if it were conducting an orchestra. Leo slid across onto the comfy though spiny legged chair so that he could view Falor. The waitress bustled over to him with a smile, tucking a stray copper hair back behind her ear before asking, “What would you like?” she inquired. Leo snuck a peek over to Falor and examined her choice before peering back up at the waitress and her name tag. “Well, Lyra, since it is a bit chilly outside I believe a cup of French vanilla coffee would do the soul good…and…oh, a scone, made with fresh raspberries would make a perfect pair,” he replied to the waitress who nodded in agreement and hurried off behind the counter where a clatter of porcelain plates and steaming liquid hissed soon after.

Leo only had a few moments to glimpse outside before Lyra hurried back with a scone balanced haphazardly on a plate and the hot cup poised precariously in her hand as tried to blow a stray hair out of her face. Leo, noticing a recipe for disaster leapt into action as he put his hand securely under the tipping plate, righting it. However he was unlucky with the cup, trying to right it before Lyra’s hand came to harm with it’s sloshing contents, the contents splashed onto the floor, Leo’s dark denim jeans and his dark shoes. “I’m so sorry!” Lrya cried out, then cursed at herself for being a klutz. “Now don’t say that,” Leo said in a soft voice as he peered down at the stains before placing down the edibles upon his table. “There will always be shoes and pants, but never another hand. Cherish what you have, learn from your mistake, and just be more careful. Don’t worry about the little things while bigger ones are slipping out of reach.” Leo said in soothing tones and thanked her for the napkins she handed him. He tried dabbing at the stains while Lyra went to clean up the pools of coffee upon the floor. Giving it up as a stain of honor, he bent down and tried soaking up the puddles with ratty strands that was once his napkin.

Meanwhile Freaya was relieved to see that the glass window allowed entrance. She swooped in and landed upon Marius’s shoulder, her weight was more like a feather was perched upon him. Freaya extended her leg out and dropped the rolled parchment into Marius outstretched hand before letting out a low melodious tune. On the parchment in elegant long strokes was written:

Dear Marius,
I hope that you are well and are adapting to your position comfortably. My I request from you a favor? As an angel it is your sole duty to guide those in the path of light and protect them from temptation. I sincerely hope you can offer guardianship over Joshua, a soul that needs someone such as yourself. Find him and let him know that you will be there for him, let him feel no more fear and despair.
Yours truly,
~GOD~
