"It was rather complex. I guess you could say I left home early. Not because I didn't mind my family. They were just rather limited. I wanted to explore and take interest in life. The seemed more content in taking comfort over truly living. So I left. Along the way I met my friend Floyd. He's almost a brother to me," she said with a hint of nostalga.

Selenium listened and nodded in understanding. "I see. I didn't leave home until I was sure my parents didn't need me anymore. Where they're at now, I'll never know. Really I don't think they're here at all. I've gone looking for them many a time, but never find them. So . . " Selenium trailed off and shrugged, "But it's better to live to the max, then not to have a life of expierences. We only get one chance, and it's better to do things you want. I wanted to explore and take an interest in life as well, and here I am now," she smiled at her friend in an assuring manner. "I really hope I get to meet your friend. He sounds like an awesome guy, especially since he has such a wonderful friend like you."

"Well once the storm subsides we could take a flight down to the scrubland and find him if you wish. He has a cave down there and I'm sure he'd be happy to have visitors," said Vera with a little bounce in her voice. She looked out at the the rain clouds. "We might be able to risk going now, if we hurry," she looked again nervously at the ink black clouds.

"Hmm, risk going now or go later when it's safer. Seems like a hard choice, but why not take a little risk? Let's go now," Selenium smiled nervously looking out at the clouds. She waited until the next lightning strike then counted after the thunder boomed. "1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12 . . " she shut her eyes at the next strike. "It's twelve miles away. That should be a good enough distance for us to fly. Don't you think?" Selenium asked, her eyes never leaving the sight. It was beautiful in an odd way, but sure as sugar it was dangerous.

"Sounds great," she said as she sprung into the air, "the faster we go the more safe we'll be." She flew around in a semi-circle. The wind began to rip at her wing membranes. "Selenium if we're going to go we have to go," she said a little frantically. She looked at the ink black clouds approaching with bright lightning flashing across the horizon.

Selenium nodded in quick respone and sprung from her spot. Hewr wings snapped out and flapped with all the strength she had. They beat against the strong air currents that were trying to push her back, as she followed her friend as efficent as possible. "As long as we're downwind I think we'll be okay for the time being," she had to shout over the loud boom of thunder. No lightning this time. So it's twelve miles out still, Selenium thought with a small hopeful smile.

"Hey, follow me," she said with an enormous grin. Vera couldn';t believe how fast he was flying. "We're making fantastic time huh? I love outrunning storms." There was a large flash and followed 12 seconds later with an even bigger boom. Vera looked out below and saw the country side beginning to shift. "Selenium you see the large butte over there? That's his home." She flew towards the narrow opening in the side. "Hello anyone at home?" Vera called into the tunnel."Ya, Vera is that you? Come on in.""Ya me and a friend," she said. "Hey Selenium follow me." Vera wandered into the narrow passage way. After fifty feet it opened up into a large circular cave. The walls were painted in psychedelic colors. On the floor was a mattress made out of the fur of animals that Floyd has previously eaten. In the middle of the cavern there was an opening in the ceiling with small steps carved into the the wall to the opening. Light streamed in making the cavern less gloomy.

Selenium had actually enjoyed the flight. The rush of excitement as she had outrun the storm with Vera, was an expierence she wouldn't mind again. Now that she thought about it, she found it silly that she had been once afraid of the storms. As long as I keep flying at top speeds, I'll be fine! Selenium thought with a smile.
She followed her friend, flying down to the narrow passage and wandering in about fifty feet. The sight that met her eyes, made her smile widen. "It's so cool!" Selenium exclaimed with clear amazement. Her home was nothing compared to this. But then again, she really never spent much time at home.
"Youre friend lives here? He must really love colors, and the fur is a lovely touch," she smiled peering around. "Where is he?" Selenium asked, curious to meet the Pan Lun.

Floyd padded down the stone steps leading from the roof of the cave. "Hey Vera," he said as he moved towards her in fluid movements and gave her a neck to neck hug, the way dragons do, "Would you like to introduce me to this lovely little lady."
"Yes, this is my friend Selenium," she said nudging her friend forward," I notice you added more fur bedding. Any special reason?"
"Why yes, I put them together for when Illustria moves in. At least I hope she will," he shook his rainbow mane and looked at Selenium, "Illustria is my mate."

Selenium gave a wide, friendly smile. She was awed by how colorful he was. His home suited him quite well. "It's a pleasure to meet you Floyd," she said taking a couple of steps toward him, as Vera nudged her. "Oh that's so sweet! Do you tow have any little ones yet? I'd love to meet her."

"I bet she has someone,"Vera winked, "she's too pretty to not catch anyone's eye."

((I'm guessing this takes place after Selenium has met Sysyphus, but either way it works xDD))
"Well when you do, I want to be one of the painter's that gets to see the cuties!" She beamed a bright smile and fluttered her wings. Hearing Floyd's question, it felt like the world around her froze for a moment. She wasn't used to talking about many things from her current life. Especially something like this. Usually she shyed away from the subject.
Selenium's purple cheeks started to turn a light maroon color, as she blushed and looked away for a moment. Turning back to them, she smiled and said, "I do. His name is Sysyphus, we've met just recently," her tone was hushed, but the quiet that surrounded them as she spoke was enough so her words could be heard loud and clear. "I mean, he's not my mate. But I hope we can be. He holds a precious place in my heart, if you know what I mean," Selenium was talking more to Floyd than Vera. "Vera do you have anyone?" She wanted to try and turn the attention away from herself and to someone else.

"Oh yes I have met Sysyphus. He's a little younger than I am. I know him through my friend's son Eugene. He's a sweet guy I knew you'd fall for that type. Be a little careful with him though he gets a little insecure about himself and then may fall out of love. Somehow though, I think you are quite acceptional and there's no way he's let you go.
"Right on," said Floyd plopping down on a couch.
"Ya I also have someone, he's a little shy. His name is Kodiak."

"Really? I had no idea. He seems so confident though," Selenium thought back to when she met him. It confused her, but she let the memory slip away for the time being. "Well, there's no way I'll let him go either. Sysyphus really is the sweetest guy I've met so far," Selenium smiled and took a seat on the floor. She layed there lazily, with her front leg crossed over the other, and her tail curled around her, the tip plopped over her nose. "Kodiak, sounds like a sweet guy. I know! We should all meet each other one day!" the idea popped into her head, as she thought about how many of them had someone. "It'd be fun! Wouldn't it?"

"That would be lovely," said Floyd with a rumbly laugh, "Illustria would be precisely your cup of tea. She's really artistic and quite kind."
"Well I've still not met her yet so I'd be down for a 'triple' date," Vera grinned.
