"Oh, really?! That's damn convenient!" Verdant decided not to tell them about all the trouble it'd taken him to steal the book from the library without getting attacked by the librarian's poodle and terrier; so not easy. He still held out the book to her and smiled. "Hey, you might as well keep it. It's pretty entertaining for a children's book. Rhian might like it."
Orpheus looked around Elst's home with astonishment. Such lovely smells, such nice people! All it needed was some music! "Do you remember me and our beautiful affair? Look in my eyes and honestly tell me our love is gone!"
Verdant stared in awe at the little wyvern. Did it just sing a part of "Seduction"?!

Elst finally returned from the kitchen - Aoi, who had followed him, trailing behind - arms laden with a large platter, and a number of bowls being held by vines sprouting from his hands. Aoi himself was carrying a smaller platter with pitchers of iced tea, coffee, and cherry limeade [fresh, too, there were even cherries floating in it.]
The pair sat down their respective loads on the large, center coffee table; along with the aforementioned drinks, a variety of food could be seen. An assortment of sandwiches, a large bowl of salad accompanied by another bowl, this one of fruit salad, and tongs. There was a pot of chili as well, thick with beans, beef, cheese, and spices for the main serving, with a few squares of cornbread on a plate on the side. After another quick trip, Elst brought out a stack of plates, cups, and bowls along with some silverware for each of them. He placed a large serving ladle into the pot of chili, and all was ready for his guests.
“Hm, here’s the lunch I cooked up, my apologies for having taken so long to get it out here. All home made - I’m not too sure of my cooking abilities, but it seemed to turn out alright…” He spared a glance at what looked like 24-karat fruit sitting on one of the tables with a curious look, while listening to the last remnants of some song Orpheus was singing. He decided it would be best if he just ignored the various distractions that had gone on while he was in the kitchen, instead focusing on feeding his guests.
“Please, help yourselves; if we run out of anything, I made extra. And I have other drinks in the fridge, if you’d like.” He took a seat next to the others, Aoi jumping up to sit on the arm of the recliner. The air was already fairly drenched with the hearty aroma of the chili - if it didn't end up tasting good, it'd be betraying the image the smell gave off for sure.

Once Aoi was seated, he listened to the last part of Orpheus’ singing, rather impressed. Wow, Orpheus, at this rate you’ll be helping Verdant with his music in no time… It wasn’t a lack of enthusiasm that held his tone calm, instead his shyness had crept up on him a little.

Just before the food was carried in, ellandra raised an eyebrow at Faolan. "I'll have you know, Faolan, that every tme I've tried to talk about my mother with your father, he always winds up distracted by telling me stories of your childhood before I find out anything about her." The brunette's eyes were sparkling, showing that she was more amused by Keagan's repeated distraction than annoyed by it.
Turning to Verdant, she smiled and thanked him for the book. "Maybe we could all look through it together after we've eaten," she said as the food was carried out, smiling at Elst and Aoi as they arrived. "I think it would take forever to search through it on my own - though not as long as getting the information out of Keagan, perhaps."
Rhian, meanwhile, was still trying to pick up one of the apples as she listened to Orpheus sing. "You're a very good singer, Orphy! Can you do anything else with your songs besides make apples pretty and heavy?"

"Ain't got nothin' to do with not wantin' to tell on your dam, Elle," Faolan chuckled. "The man just really loves tellin' embarrassin' stories about me." He shrugged a little.
As the food was brought in, his ears perked up and he grinned. "Looks damn good, Elst. Is that cornbread?" Faolan wandered over to the table.

Verdant soon found himself drooling as he viewed Elst's splendiferous spread. It'd been a while since he'd even seen food this delicious, let alone eaten it. He stared ravenously at the chili and eyed the cornbread like it was a hot male model. The sandwiches were practically calling his name as they lay provocatively on that plate next to the fresh veggie salad. "Elst, you're far too modest for your own good, you know that? Do you... do you mind if I help myself?" Sure, he was hungry as a starving dog, but being polite came first.
Orpheus looked at Aoi, then at Rhian and cheeped with enthusiasm. "Thanks, brah!" It escaped the grip of the nymph's arms as he looked at the food with lust and fluttered about the room, singing and chirping like crazy. Several different plants in the room began growing larger, some bloomed, and some scents became stronger than others. Honestly, Orpheus was having quite a bit of fun with this!

Elst nodded cheerily to his guests, in regards to the food. “Oh, yes, of course, you’re welcome to eat as much as you’d like, made it specially for you all. If we run out of anything, I have more in the kitchen.” One of the very, very few things that made him happy these days, if only a little bit, was having guests, or, even better, feeding them. So yes, enjoy the lunch, glad to cook it for you all. “And yes, Faolan, it’s cornbread, just got it out of the oven. There’s a plate of butter with a knife if you’d like any on it. I just hope I baked the cornbread well enough to keep it soft…” He gestured with one hand towards a small plate with a block of warm butter sitting on it, hopefully warm enough to be easy to cut by the butter knife that rested on the plate as well.
“If you wish, you can feel free to scoot your recliners up to the table so you can eat without repetitive trips back and forth.” The coffee table which bore the food was actually fairly close to the chairs; a simple scoot up would suffice.
Meanwhile, Aoi stayed quiet, sneaking over to the pitcher of iced tea and pouring himself a small cup. He hadn’t a mouth, so eating wasn’t quite possible, but as for drinks, that’s what he had those root-like fingers for.

"And such entertaining stories they are, Faolan," Ellandra said, smiling at her husband in an almost-but-not-quite cheeky manner. Then she returned her attention to Elst and Aoi and yet again thanked them for the food - because honestly, food this well prepared took some time and effort to be able to make, and they needn't have gone to so much trouble, really! It looked terribly delicious, however, and having to eat enough to support both herself and her growing babies was something of a problem for Ellandra since her appetite had actually diminished recently - though for once she didn't think she'd have a problem with eating a fair amount, this food looked so good.
Rhian oohed and ahhed and otherwise praised Orpheus for the fantastic things he was doing to the plants, ignoring the meal in favor of the entertainment that was going on. "Wow, Orphy,, wow, you can do so many things with your songs! You're very talented!" the flutterby chirped, fluttering oveer to where Aoi was 'drinking' some iced tea. "Isn't he, Aoi-flower? Orphy's very talented, just like I'm sure you are! I bet together you can really help in lots of ways!" Technically by "help" she meant the plants, but for some reason she left it out of her sentence. Perhaps later on she would understand her seeming slip of the tongue as an unknowing truth, but for now it was s it seemed - a mere forgetting of words in a sentence, as she was prone to do at this very young age.

Verdant thanked Elst kindly and began to serve himself a large helping of everything; he was so hungry and the food looked so good! He’d be damned if he was going to starve! He scooped up some chili with some cornbread and happily ate it in one bite. “Elst, this tastes absolutely amazing! You’ve really outdone yourself, really!” Verdant said no more and focused on the food, only stopping to savor this and sigh at the taste of that.
Orpheus looked back at Rhian, positively overjoyed at the compliments it was receiving. It hadn’t the slightest idea what she was saying, but the way she said it made it out to be quite a flattering statement. The wyvern gleefully flew over to where Verdant was and wrapped itself around his owner like a scarf before partaking of the delicious meal before him. He wasn’t sure what the yellow thing was, but it was soft and warm and crumbly in his mouth! The brownish-red stuff was a little spicy, but tasted too good to leave it ignored. Before too long, Verdant’s plate was completely clean and devoid of food. Too bad the poor nymph hardly got the chance to eat any of it.
“Orpheus, you ate all my food!” Verdant lamented before serving himself some more. This time, he intended to keep his meal, thank you very much.

Aoi smiled [mentally, of course, no mouth to smile with] as Orpheus flew about the room happily, doing all sorts of interesting things with his unintentionally magic-laced song. He nodded to Rhian. Oh, yeah, he’s quite talented, huh? Just think of what he’ll be capable of when he learns to control it…And nah, I’m not good at much of anything, just making the flowers bloom, I think… To illustrate his point, a wave of his jade mist-clad hand sent the plants about the room into a growth spurt, blooming as they did so. When combined with Orpheus’ effects, the show was rather spectacular. I mean, I can do some other stuff with it, but…it’s nothing big. He laughed a bit as he watched his fellow Essentic dive in -and devour- nearly all of Verdant’s food. Hungry. Eh, Orph?
Elst simply smiled and quietly nodded away any and all complements sent towards him, simply happy that his guests seemed to like the food. Matching his Essentic, he laughed lightly as Orpheus finished Verdant’s food for him. “No worries, Verdant, there plenty more where that came from, I have more in the kitchen, after all.”
