Whacked, Trystan feigned a bit of hurt and rubbed his shoulder, and then simply smiled at the other man. "Affectionate term my a**." He snorted, but his tone told that he understood where Faolan was coming from rather well. Compared to the "affectionate terms" back where he grew up, these were rather nice. "Hinny? You're a weird man." Trystan snorted, rolling onto his back and cocking an eyebrow at the other. "Just dont drop your guard. I dont want to have to hear about some dumbass getting himself caught because his heart gave out at the stupidest of times." Shrugging his shoulders, Trystan rolled onto his back and lightly whacked Faolans shoulder with a frown. "The better question would be when I've known you to be smart." He joked dryly, staring at the sky. "I'm serious though - I'm amazed you're still alive, actually."
Crux hummed, a smile almost in the way it moved and leaned against Zia. "Anything...?" He repeated softly, with a bit of humor. "I see.... Thank you, Zia." Crux would have smiled, had he a mouth. "I would be willing to do anything you asked me as well." Yes, it was a promise... Though hopefully Trystan was not against it. However, emotions overtook logic for a split second, and left the Proto hanging in between. Was this a promise? Or was it meant to be broken?

Faolan moved so his knees were drawn up, arms resting on their tops and beer bottle dangling from one hand between them. "It's this place. Da always said Farstep was charmed. Maybe there's some truth to that. We look after the carnival, it looks after us. That don't mean I plan to drop my guard, though, now that I'm aware there's danger." He looked down at Tryst. "And 'hinny' means friend, you a**."
Zia just grinned at Crux. "Anything? You could hug me again. I like that." It leaned over, putting its arms around the other and leaning into Crux.

Trystan glanced over at the other man, the lights of the carnival illuminating the two men. "Charmed?" Trystan let a laugh fall from his lips. "Charmed, eh? I'll have to stick around a little bit longer next time then. I dont believe in things like that though." Trystan shrugged. "But whatever floats your boat." He commented, looking up at the other with a c**k of the eyebrow. Humming a low note of amusement, he shrugged his shoulders a bit. "It sure doesn't sound like friend, you a**." He said with dry amusement, grinning lazily at the other. "You have a strange way of showing affection."
Crux thrummed a bit, amused by Zia's antics. "Alright, Ziazan..." He said softly, curling his arms around Zia into a hug. Was Zia... more then a friend? Crux didn't know, but he wasn't in a rush to find out. For now, this would do.

Faolan held out a beer to Trystan. "You like my affection and you know it, hinny." He looked back over his shoulder at the carnival, watching the lights and rides and people. "I've never known if it were true or not, but it certainly gives an explanation on why no one's killed me yet, I guess."
Zia hugged Crux back tightly. "Almost a shame you and Trystan can't stay here with us so we could spend more time together."

Trystan brought his lips down into a half scowl. Affection? Trystan snorted. "Whatever floats your boat, hinny." He responded lazily, wondering what the carnival looked like behind them. He didn't feel like turning to see it however, and simply closed his eyes, imagining what it was like. "Or you're just extremely lucky." He said listlessly, arguing for the sake of arguing. Faolan must have been crazy to think that the Carnival had been the thing protecting him all this time. It was like saying if you stayed in one place forever, you'd never get harmed because apparently it protects you. Trystan snorted at the silly idea. "Yet, being the nice, keyword." He said, rolling back onto his side again. No one had tried killing Faolan. Yet.
Crux let a thrum of laughter fall from his lips at Zia's talk of that kind of thing. "Almost." He repeated as if there was a smile on his lips. "I'm almost certain Trystans head might explode if he was here twenty four seven." Which was true, Trystan would probably love it, but how good he'd be at handling the insanity that was Farstep was beyond Crux.

Faolan nodded. "I'll keep a closer eye on patrons getting close to me or mine from now on. If anything happens, I'll send Elle to come get you. At least she'll be safe with you. Or, at least, I'm hoping she will." He moved, looking back out at the expanse of darkness across the field, brow furrowed in thought.
Zia laughed with Crux. "It's a wonder that Fao's doesn't sometimes." It leaned against the proto, happy for the company. Looking up, it saw a star streak across the sky and pointed up at it. "Look, Crux!" Zia looked at the other, grinning. "They say if you see a shooting star, you're suppose to be able to make a wish and it comes true."

Trystan smiled faintly, nodding at Faolan. "Thats a good boy." he chided teasingly, poking Faolan in the side of the head. "Send her running, I'll do what I can." His eyes flashed sharply. "Though, dont expect me to always be there. I'll do what I can but...." But there were family issues. But the Auclairs wouldn't approve. But this was treason, just interacting with this man. "She'll be fine. Cross your fingers, and dont let anyone get in your way." Trystan leaned his head back. "Thats what I always do."
Crux hummed and nodded, wondering just what Zia's owner felt. He knew exactly how Trystans emotions played out. Despite his appearances, the man was a simple nutter on the inside, with emotions that ranged from subtle to screaming. Tilting his head up as Zia pointed, the Proto caught a glimmer or something shooting. "Shooting star?" He paused, thrumming in slight interest. "A wish... come true?" He chuckled as much a he could. "That sounds childish." He said softly, but nonetheless, tilted his head up, and considered it. "What would I wish for though...?"

"I know you'll be there as much as you can, brother. Thanks," Faolan said softly, eyes still on the darkened woods across the field. "Maybe I can rely somewhat on didikai magic and just . . . hope for the best. I've always lived my life and let fate sort things out. It's worked for me so far. I'll keep more aware, but I know that things happen and there's not much that can be done if they really want to happen."
Zia still was watching the fading streak across the sky. "I don't think it's childish. More like . . . magical." It looked at the proto, reaching over to put a hand over Crux's own. "Whatever it is you wish for, you have to keep it to yourself or it won't come true. That's how the magic works."

"Fff." Trystan blew a sound similar to a whistle and shrugged his shoulders, sitting up, hands loosely wrapped against his propped knees. "Dont thank me yet, I haven't done anything." He said dryly, rolling his eyes and letting a yawn fall of his lips. "You cant just rely on luck and folk magic to get somewhere in life." He said, eyes flashing sharply as he stood up, leaning his back against the tree for a moment to watch the darkness surround them. "You have to build your own path, or else you're just letting fate control your entire life." Trystan sighed, his eyes glittering a bit dangerously as he crossed his arms, watching the Essentics warily. "Just because its worked for you doesn't mean that it will in the future. You cant let something else control your life - or you'll be dead soon enough." The gun for hire chuckled dryly. And theres no guarantee it wont be by my families hand. He thought, his demon blood racing under the skin, pulsing at the idea of bloodshed. "You've still got a lot to learn then." Trystan finally admitted, turning away. "There are a lot of things that can be done." Turning his head back, the obsidian haired man whistled. "Crux."
Crux watched the fading streak as well, scanner glittering a bit. A wish, a wish... A foreign thing. "Magical?" He repeated, tasting the word. "It seems that all of Farstep is that way." At the mention of keeping it to himself, Crux nodded loftily, and thrummed. "Thank you, Ziazan..." He said in a purr. Magic... perhaps he'd give it a try. Turning his head as Trystan called to him, he lifted himself off the ground with an apologetic thrum to Zia, before bounding over and leaping onto the others shoulder like a cat would. Was it time to go, already?

Faolan stood up as well, stretching and giving a soft yawn. "Thanks for comin' by, Tryst. Next time, maybe you can meet Elle." He looked down at Zia as the Essentic came over and hugged his waist, the raised his eyes back to the other half demon. "I'd best get this one to bed. It's had a long day. You want us to walk you out of the grounds or can you find your way?"
Zia peered up at Crux from where it was hiding against Fao, watching the Combat Essentic. It didn't want to see Crux go, feeling that it had, in a way, just found him.

Flexing his fingers a bit, Trystan sidled further away from the other man, watching nonchalantly as the carnival lights played over him. Grinning a bit like a cat, he turned his eyes back to the other over his shoulder. "Yeah - maybe next time I can meet the pretty lady." He said with a hint of amusement in his tone. "I can get out on my own - Your carnival isn't that hard to maneuver anyways, kid." Turning back to the backdrop of a carnival, he stepped forward. "I'll see you around. Be careful - and dont get caught. If you end up on the Chevaliers hit list you'd better be running," Flashing his eyes back at Faolan, Trystan grinned like the devilish, sadistic demon he was under his human flesh. "Else I cant guarantee that it wont be my gun you'll be staring in the face." Whether or not the joking tone was actually true or not was the question. Whether he was kidding or not was unclear to everyone but him. Even Crux.
With that unorthodox way of parting, Trystan disappeared into the fairgrounds, Crux perched tentatively over his shoulder like a curious watch dog.
