As they walked Tal shook his head slightly and gave a small shrug. "I don't know. Being waited on by a small army of servants, plus free reign over the larder and I wonder if this nightly exercise routine you mention will off set all the extra time I'll be tempted to waste laying about in your bed? Isn't that how things go after all? Once I net myself a wealthy suitor, I get to let myself go?" Tal leaned in and lightly kissed Mas on the cheek.
As they neared the vaults Tal almost felt like he was getting goosebumps on his skin, this is what he'd been waiting for; practically aching for, since he'd turned up here. Yet when Mas mentioned giving cause for Tal to stay, the mage seemed to loose focus, lost in thought for a moment; Tals eyes taking on an almost sad look. Whatever thoughts he had, he kept to himself and it only seemed to last a moment before being masked by a sly smile. "Oh yes, of course; the fabulous treasure trove. I mean I'd hardly hang about for your beauty, wit or willingness in the bedchamber, now would I?" Seeing as there were no servants about Tal was a little less formal and moved his arm about Mas' waist, holding the other mages slight frame up against his. "If I stay, it's because of you..."
Tals voice trailed off as they entered the first vault, he waited quietly, peering into the dark as Mas called on the rooms enchantments to light the way. The vision that appeared before him, literally took Tals breath away. Not even in his wildest dreams had he imagined such wealth! Time and again he'd heard the rumours on the street or listened to Mas talk of these vaults, but to actually witness such vast amounts of wealth first hand was something else. Tals normally stoic veneer cracked, leaving him stood there, gawking in wide eyed wonder like some peasant fool at a carnival. He watched Mas proceed ahead and only half listened as the other talked about the vaults contents. Tals mind was trying to calculate the wealth that was before him, but failed utterly, the numbers far too vast for his mental arithmetic.
Eventually he regained a little bit of his composure and ran his hands through his hair as a goofy grin took hold of his face. "If I stay, I stay for you... But this?! This... This is one hell of a perk to staying..." Slowly Tal made his way over to Mas and gently patted his lover on the shoulder. "Mas, I- I'm going to have to do something. If you have any affection for me you'll put it out of your mind as soon as we leave this vault. In fact if you really do care for me, you'll turn your back and cover your ears for the next few minutes..." Not waiting for a response Tal turned from Mas and stared out at the expanse of jewels and coins piled about them. Suddenly he took a running start and dived into the piles, running, jumping and clambering all over them, all the while giggling like a child in a candy store.
For the next few minutes the room was filled with the sound of coins being thrown about and Tals merry laughter as he went wild. Eventually the laughter died down and turned to heavy breathing as the tinkling of coins ground to a halt. There was silence for a few moments, until Tal called out with a slightly concerned note to his voice. "Mas? Mas are you there? I.. I, um... Well it seems that I've lost sight of the door..." There was another slight pause followed by an embarrassed admission "Mas, I think I'm lost..."

There was unexplained warmth in his belly. Mas was hard pressed to place it at the moment, but he knew it had been there from the moment Tal had placed his arm about his waist and uttered those four words. He stayed for him? While Tal gaped at the scene of wealth, Mas considered his lover. He could not help but smile a little at the surprise and awe. There was something very satisfying in seeing that look upon Tal's face. He had felt that feeling so often when they laid together, it felt good to be able to see that he had caused such a feeling within his lover. Perhaps it was a sense that he truely had something worth offering Tal beyond just his flesh. He could provide for him...take care of him in the way a suitor often wished for their consort...offer him portection and opportunities that surely no others could do! He had, at his fingertips, enough wealth that Tal could pursue any dreams he wished. Or so Mas felt within, and he hoped that his lover would realize as well. Sure...there was more then just money here for him... but for a drow that had grown with the knowledge that he could buy pretty much anything, this was merely a part of who he was...right?
Taliesin came to stand near to him, and Mas cocked his head in curiousity at the oddest request he had ever heard. "Well..of...course?" He remarked with that same quizzeled sound to his face which matched his expression. He was uncertain what Tal intended to do..but..the display of..well..childish glee was certainly not it. Mas placed the fingertips of his left hand over his lips to cover over the smile. It was..utterly demeaning, to act so carefree and wild he supposed. Taliesin always held himself with such elegance and poise. Yet, despite his lovers request he did not close up his ears to the sounds he made.
Actually, the sound brought forth that strange warmth a second time within him. Mas lowered himself to the coin and gem mingled surface and settled himself as comfortably as he could manage to wait out his lovers little moment of insanity. It was terribly amuseing, and enjoyable at the same time. Mas reached down and plucked a oval shaped emerald from the spread before him and he slowly spun it in his fingertips. He would bet that Tal could make a magnificent ring with this...it would go beautifuly with his eyes, quiet striking really... Or perhaps a sapphire? Blue diamond? Mas's lips quirked upwards. Perhaps he could ask his lover to make him a matching ring? Ah...but that could be too...involved? But...As he dropped the emerald and wiggled his fingers through the coins in search of a blue gemstone, Mas could not deny his desire for that involvement. A commitment...was it too soon to seek that with Tal?
He said he'd stay for him...surely there was some form of depth in the meaning of those words? He wanted it..wanted him. More then anything else that he could think of. He'd trade off everything in this vault just for Tal's favor... Speaking of which, the sounds of glee had faded, and Tal's uncertain and slightly embaressed voice carried over the glittering landscape. Mas pressed himself up in his loungeing position and lifted one of his wands upwards. Softly he chuckled, and sent a small streak of blue light sparking from the tip to hover near the ceiling overhead.
"Look to the lights Taliesin, you will see a light glowing near the ceiling, this is where I am." Mas spoke as he reclaimed his feet. While he waited for Tal to appear from around some random mound of coin and gem, Mas amused himself by rolling a egg sized blue diamond in his palm. Once it was that he spied the figure of his lover, Mas dropped the stone to his feet and coaxed the mage over to him.
"If ever there were a time to fill you pockets my lover, I would say now is it. I will not be offended in the least, in fact I really wish you would take something before we leave." Mas hesitated now, his heart felt like it was beating a bit more rapidly then normally right now. "Everything that is mine I would share with you Taliesin. My bed and my House. If it is as you say, that you stay for me, then I wish offer you everything that comes with me. I...have deep affection for you. More so then just as a lover." Mas cast his eyes over the room that his lover had just had his frolic within. "I can do so much after tomorrow night. I can restructure the House...I can put into motion any hundred plans. I have the means to shape a future that would be the envy of any male in this city...But I want you by my side as I do it. I want you to be a part of my plans and to offer me your wisdom and guidance as well. I know you only meant to stay here for a time to ensure my brother did not manage to harm me..." Mas turned his gaze back to Taliesin then and tilted his head to one side slightly. "I want you to stay indefinatly though...as my companion. I want you like no other Talisin. When you were away I was driven to distraction for my thoughts of you. The thought that you may leave is particularly painful. Say you will be my consort? Stay and help me rule my House?"

Tal clambered atop a loosely piled stack of coins to get a better vantage point and managed to spot the light Mas spoke off before the pile began to slide and scattered beneath him. Still with the new bearing in mind Tal soon made it over where Mas was waiting, his composure returning to him by the time he stood by his lover again. "Sorry about that. I've simply never thought I'd be before such a fortune. I've had dreams and fantasies but to face the reality. One thing I learnt though, is that leaping atop piles of wealth isn't as comfortable as it seems in one dreams..." Pulling up a sleeve Tal examined a few small bruises on his arm, several small coins falling free of the folds in the fabric in the process.
"Fill my pockets? I haven't even tried and already I carry enough to set me up for life." To demonstrate the point Tal shook himself vigorously, causing several more coins and small gems to fall free of his clothes. "I'd have to strip naked to ensure I didn't take anything." Tal smiled at his small joke, but that faded quickly as he listened to what Mas had to say, at his lovers proclamation of his affections. After Mas finished speaking, Tal just stood there stoically, his eyes locked on Mas' for a time. Eventually he shook his head slightly and reached up to run a hand through his hair, only to pause at an unexpected find and after a moment of foraging, he pulled another coin and a ruby from his hair. Dropping them to the floor Tal took a step forward and wrapped his arms about Mas pulling the other Drow tight against him.
"Mas... What am I to do with you? If it weren't for your beautiful ebony skin I'd be tempted to think you were born a surface elf. Such nonsense. 'Deep Affection?' 'More Than Lovers?' 'The Pain of Me Leaving?' Soft emotional dribble... If the wrong people heard you speak such rubbish, they'd think you a weak willed fool, an easy victim. An utter moron... You really leave me no other choice." There was a brief pause as Tal took a deep breath, his hand gently rubbing Mas' back. "I have to stay, just to keep you from getting yourself in trouble. I'll not waste my breath on such trivial emotions and say I love you or any of that nonsense. It'd be a shame though for a beauty like your's to be struck down and I certainly don't like the notion of anyone else getting their hands on your body. You are mine Mas and I take care of my property."
Tal tightened his hold on Mas ever so slightly, with no signs of letting the other Drow go anytime soon, despite his words though Tal was blushing deeply. No one had ever spoken to him like that before, no proper Drow should ever speak like that after all, yet something about those words coming from Mas meant more to Tal than all the gold and jewels around them. Not that Tal would ever say that of course, Mas might have no sense of shame or decency, but Tal wasn't going to humiliate himself like that.
Once Tal was comfortable that he had control of his features again and his blush had faded, he loosened his grip on Mas. "We'll have to see about putting one of those sedans you mentioned earlier in here as well. As tempting a thought as it is, I think taking you atop a pile of treasure would be even less comfortable than the tables in the library."

"Well then." Mas replied in light humor. "I am glad to see I've managed to bring into reality one of your fantasies." His head tilted a little so he could take stock of the small bruises that Tal was exaiming himself for a moment. It seemed that he was going to be in a slightly sore state as well later on too. Mas took a step back when Tal began to shake his robes, and the metallic clatter brought a mirthful expression to both his lips and eyes. "Strip naked? Well, that would be quiet the sight, you surely would fit into the theme of this room."
The next few moments were...tense then. Mas spoke with little thought, and Tal looked upon him with such a serious expression. He felt the humor and light heartedness from moments before vanish and a cold anxiety took up it's place. He had mis-spoken. Obviously judgeing by the way that Tal looked at him. Mas could swear that his heart shuddered to a stop in his chest when Tal began to shake his head at him. He could feel his thoughts tumbling through his head, scolding berating words of his foolishness and weakness. When Tal took that step towards him a part of his mind expected the male to brush past him and simply leave him standing there in his embaressment. So it was with a sick twist of uncertainty that he found himself pulled up against Tal instead.
He felt...admonished. Painfully shameful really. His actions and words were just as Tal said, though it was only after they had been spoken and his lover had seen fit to point it out that Mas was able to see the folly in his actions. Tal held him close, and Mas tilted his head slightly in against the others while he lifted one hand and laid it upon Tal's shoulder. He dreaded his words, a expectant fear crept up within him that Tal would decide that it would be best if he left, or placed distance between the two of them. he couldn't have that! He just couldn't! Yet, with the rubbing motion he felt upon his back, he heard Tal say quiet the opposite. Mas's features, out of sight as they were now, refleced anxious relief. Mas closed his eyes when he felt Mas grip him more firmly. There was a intense warmness within him now. Something that oddly had nothing to do with lust in the least. Mas's other hand lifted, and his touch lightly fell upon Tal's waist. The moments that followed were...peaceful in it's strange intensity. Mas felt a calm like no other fill him. Tal intended to stay with him...and by his words he felt at the least a strong possessiveness in reguards to him personally. Tal may have been disinclined to speak of love or such weak emotions, but the words he did choose to use were more then acceptable in the standards of the drow world. For this Mas felt a content that he could not possibly compare with anything else he possessed
Tal was the one who leaned away and broke his hold on Mas, thus signaling to him to do likewise. Mas found his blue gaze was hard to lift and meet Tal's at the moment. Instead he smiled with a slight sheepishness and let his gaze sweep over the mounds of treature. "Indeed. I do not fancy plucking gems and coins from what crevasses our romps may wedge them into." His tone once more reflected humor as the weight of the words spoken moments before began to lift.

Releasing his hold on Mas, Tal backed away a step and gave his lover a serious look, arms folded across his chest and his tone one of a mentor berating a student. "One thing though. If you ever, ever say things like that in front of another person I'll beat you to within an inch of your life and be gone before the bruises have time to fully form! You plan on ruling a House, so you cannot have any weakness, doubly so since you will be merely a male and the Matrons of other Houses will look down on you and despise you for that. Any sign of weakness will be inviting trouble! Also you can put this nonsense of me ruling by your side out of your head to. I will happily lay by your side in the bedchambers, but I cannot stand by you on a throne. That.. woman who bore your offspring may do for now, to lend your rule some degree of propriety. the other Matrons would be happier seeing a man and a woman on the thrown than two men, mages both at that!"
Tal eased a little and reached out an arm to stroke Mas' cheek. "Besides I know how you feel for me and you know how I feel for you, what do we need with empty words when our actions speak with far more sincerity? You will become a public figure when you take the reigns of the House from your mothers dead hands and you must remember that people will be watching for weakness at all times. You understand don't you?"

Now what was this? Mas looked at Tal as he took that step back, his blue eyes finally lifting to look into the other mages face. Over the course of the next few minutes...Taliesin berated and scolded Mas without interruption. His blue eyes dipped downwards in his embaressment, and it was all quiet well deserved. Tal always had a keen mind, and was without err in what he said. had any other seen how he had acted just now he surely would have had a difficult situation on his hands. Not to mention the difficulties that were going to arise when he attempted to force himself into a position that was unacceptable for a male. His gaze lifted only after Tal's fingers brushed over his cheek. He looked into his face for a few moments longer, then breathed a small sigh before speaking.
"I do. I understand...what you say all makes sense. I have...simply been acting a fool. You are right of course. I can not let any others see me in a moment of weakness of any sort. It would undermine all of my plans and I surely would fail. I know that I will meet opposition from the other Houses, particularly those lower in rank then my own, when I attempt to lead my House in the name of my child." Mas's head bobbed faintly, the sour promise of Tal leaving should he falter in such a embaressing way was by far the strongest motivation for him at the moment to ensure no such err was made.
Mas made a slight gesture towards the enterance of the vault and shifted his stance a bit to move towards the door. "While your suggestion is sound that I place Triel'Nolu in a position at my side, she and I have met with a understanding that there will be no false play on our part in accordance to postion and power. Her part here in my House was merely to provide me with an Heir of noble blood, a female that can not be contested as worthy to rule once she comes of age. I do not want any misconception that she holds any power here either, for then I risk others attempting to bypass me and deal with her as a authoritive figure here in Barrith. I feel it may cause a sundering of loyalty and respect amoung the servants and slaves. So..Triel'Nolu is naught more then a honored guest. Indefinate of course, one that I fund in repayment for giving me the daughter I required." Mas paused and pursed his lips in a moment of intense thoughtfulness.
"Have I told you all of my plans for the children yet Tal? It would be best to speak of it here I suppose, no place is nearly as carefully warded as the vaults, so no other can possibly overhear what is spoken here..save for the Guard, but I do not think it counts as a person in the least."

Tal started to follow Mas towards the doors, silently listening to the other mage and nodding slightly as Mas finished explaining his relationship with Triel'Nolu. "Yes, I see... A shame, it would have been nice to have a false figurehead to catch the eye of any would be assassins rather than risk you. I understand your reasoning though."
At mention of the children Tal stopped and thought for a moment before giving a slight shake of his head. "I'm not sure if you've told me everything. You've actually only ever mentioned your plans for your daughter. That you plan on placing her at the head of the House and ruling as Regent until she comes of age, even then you plan on raising her so she come to depend on our council, allowing you to continue ruling the House even after she comes of age. Right? You've never mentioned anything beyond that or what you plan on doing with the boy."

Mas felt his lips lift a little, and his blue eyes caught a glint off the gold within the room as Tal would speak what little he knew of the arrangements he had set in motion. Mas lifted one hand and gestured upwards above their head.
"Sinatra is the girl child. Just as you are aware, I intend to train her personally and cultivate a dependency on her part in reguards to me. I have already determined she will study a mages path, I won;t have any priestess nonsense cluttering up her mind, and she will be closely sheltered from outside influences. Ideally, when she comes of age, she will be a puppett ruler, making short appearances when neccessary but otherwise she will remain behind locked doors. Nothing really different then the current Matrons way of dealing business so it whould not raise many brows, though I am sure enough will take notice. THis is why I have determined to use the boy child."
Mas tilted his head to gaze thoughtfully upwards before continueing. "The children are remarkably similar. Silver hair and blue eyes of matching shades. Save for their gender difference, they are indistinguisehable from each other...so, for this reason... I have done away with the midwife after the delivery and procured a slave to deal personally with the babies. I have named the boy, Ilminidia, and have announced that the babe is in fact female as well." A soft chuckle tickled his chest and Mas placed a splayed hand against his own chest. "If mother could do it to me, I see no reason why I can not do it to my own child. Ilminidia will be raised under the guise of a female and dressed to match Sinatra at all times. So if anyone, such as my brother, got it into his head to do away with my little puppet they may make the err and strike down the boy instead, and in the worst case scenario I can keep the boy child and merely use the spell on it that I had intended to use on myself. Either way, I hope the daunting task of needing to eradicate two heirs to the matrons throne rather then one may give that fool pause. Or make it more difficult for him. Either way, once Sinatra takes her place as Matron Ilminidia's part will be complete and I can find some other use for the spare child I suppose."

Tal was quiet as Mas explained his plans for the children and remained so for a while after as well, silently contemplating what Mas had said. "I see... Well that is a use for the boy I suppose. He certainly will be his fathers son in that case. In any case they are your offspring, so long as they serve their purpose I'm not really inclined to care how you raise them." An odd look came on Tal as an unsettling thought occured to him. "I.. I won't have to have a hand in their upbringing will I? I'm not very fond of children, though I was one of the youngest, my elder sisters had children of their own. Miserable spoilt brats the lot of them. Especially those my nieces, horrid little diva's..." Tal's tone almost dripped with malice as he thought back on his few brief encounters with his nieces. "I'll do a lot for you my Obsidian Beauty, but baby sitting or tutoring them is out of the question.."

"Oh Lloth no!" Mas broke out in laughter. His blue eyes lit up merrily at the odd look on Tal's face. His silvery head shook from side to side as he continued to laugh lightly. "Oh no. I would never waste your time in such a manner my lover. I hardly spend any time with the two to be truthful. I just stop in long enough to ensure the children will recognise me. I think that is what the book said. Imprinting is it? I can't recall if it was about rothe calfs or children...but...mentally they are about the same right?" Mas smiled a bit more amused at his final comment and reached forwards to wrap his arm around Tal's waist while they were still alone. "I would not require anything unpleasent of you, and children surely are unpleasent until they reach a suitable age to be useful."
