"Mom!"Jez cried out,"Wake up! Wake up! Please don't die, I need you here with me!"She sobbed though she knew her mother was already dead. Her stomache growled reminding her of how unbearably hungry she was. "I have to get out of here" She thought hystericly, footsteps made her immediatly alert. Crouching in front of her mothers body she prepared herself for those horrible twolegs to open the door.Snapping awake Jez waited for her rapid heartbeat to slow down, restless she got up and started running to no place in particular she needed to get away from life for a while. She ran past the hollow log where Ashes and Snow were and kept running till she reached a rock jutting out of the ground. Climbing up to the top of the rock she sat and faced the moon. "I wonder where you are now Mom" she whispered.

"StarClan," Snow said, sitting next to the older cat. "She's in StarClan with all the other spirits of dead cats."

"Whats Starclan?" Jez asked confused by the term.
((I know what starclan is but Jez was a kittypet so she doesn't.))

Snow stared up at the sky. "StarClan is where all of the spirits of our warrior ancestors go after they die," she explained. "They leave starry pawprints, and have stars in their pelts. They watch over us and guide us from Silverpelt, the band of stars high above." She flicked her tail up to the stars.

"So my mom is in Starclan hmmm"Jez said thoughtfully. Changing the subject Jez asked"So how are you feeling?"She was genuinely worried about the kit.

Ashes spit on the ground, and pushed the mouse away. "Shut up, the both of you." She hissed. "I don't want to hear any of that clan fox-dung!" She meowed, looking at Snow. "So that's where you come from? A clan? I want nothing to do with you. Get out of my presence, both of you. You can find cobwebs pretty much anywhere, so go find some other cat to pester." She meowed, her amber eyes enraged. There was something hidden behind her eyes. "This is my home! And I want all the rest of you to just leave an old cat alone." She growled and unsheathed her claws.

Jez was furious that Ashes would waste the prey she worked hard on catching but instead of arguing she bottled up her pride and stalked off muttering"Ungrateful old furball."Jez didn't go straight to the bush she would now be calling home, instead she ran around still shaken up about the nightmare she had. When she was to worn out to think about her old life she went over to her bush to rest.

Ashes came right up to Snow and stared her right in the eyes, a forest fire burning in her amber pits. "Guess what sweetie? I don't care. It's all filth, that's what you come from." She growled. "I'd suggest leaving now, I'd be done with you faster than any badger could be."

Glaring up at the old she-cat, Snow forced her fur to lie flat along her shoulders, sheathing her claws with reluctance. She was still a Clan cat, and no matter what, the elders had to be respected. No matter how ornery they are, she reminded herself sullenly. Softly, she padded over to a clump of ferns and moss, making a nest out of it for herself.

It irritated Ashes even more that Snow was still in her sight. But at least she was away from her log home. She resumed where she had been laying, in front of her log den. She wished such pests would just leave her alone. She needed a much more solitary place to stay. Away from all these mouse-brains.

Jez watched as Ashes stalked right up to Snow and threatened her. She was about to get up and go over there to seperate the two cats if things got to nasty but before she could Snow swallowed her pride and padded away, relaxing a little Jez tried to go back to sleep hoping for a nice dream. But of course only flashbacks of her old life would haunt her dreams.

Turning onto her back, Snow studied Silverpelt idly. Opaltail... Mossfur... She could feel sadness welling up in her as she remembered her mother and father. "I want to go home..." she murmured, curling up into a tight ball, crossing her tail over her muzzle.

Sunlight streaming through the branches of the bush woke Jez from yet another nightmare. Spotting Snow sleeping across the feild Jez got up and padded over to her.
