Ren was getting tired of training at this point and decided to play with his hackysack for a few minutes as a break.
Ren got up from his meditating position and took out the ball of beans and started to kick it up and down in the air.

A day laterRen was able to make 50 more primitive looking rock-shurikens after going through 200 rocks. He tried chucking one of them at a tree but it merely bounced off. "MEESHA STOP LAUGHING AT ME." Ren yelled at his imaginary friend.

Ren continued to practice perfecting one rock shuriken instead of making multiple fail ones. It was simple to make it, but sharpening the rock was the difficult task for Ren at this point.
He shook his head and tossed the uncarved rock into the air before catching it. "I think I deserve a break, don't you Meesha? ... YEA? Who asked you anyways!?"
Ren made his way to the tram station as the next train arrived. He boarded the train as it traveled towards the Main Dojo.

A few hours later the tram from the Main Dojo arrived at the Earth Dojo. Ren stepped out of the tram and made his way towards one of the zen gardens.
When Ren reached the zen garden, he started to do warm up stretches as if he was about to do rigorous exercising.

Kaimen slowly rose from the earth in the Zen garden, inspecting the 50 Shurikens.

"Oh, Kaimen-sama!" Ren turned to Kaimen and bowed before noticing that Kaimen was inspecting his crudely made rock-shurikens. "They're not sharp enough to cut anyone. I'm still trying to get it down."

Kaimen put his palm to his face as he gripped his forehead and sighed,
"Not this 'sama' business again."
He picked up a shuriken and began to speak, flipping it like a coin.
"50, that's a fourth so far. Not too bad, work harder, make them sharper, and we can move on to your next lesson, you're coming along nicely."
He threw the shuriken at Ren.

Ren let the blunt shuriken hit him as it bounced off his clothing, "OW!" He rubbed the part where it had hit and picked up the dull shuriken from the ground. "Yes sir!"
Ren sat on the ground in the midst of the zen garden and held the dull rock-shuriken in the palm of his hand. Concentrating. ...The chakra from the earth.

He activated his Byakugan and analyzed the rock-shuriken's structure. The chakra he used to create it in the first place was still visible to his Byakugan. Ok, from the earth, it's chakra... it's the same. I need to visualize it being sharpened-- and follow through! As he spoke those words into his mind, Ren focused chakra onto the shuriken's basic structure. The rock-shuriken broke apart because of too much pressure. Ren sighed in disappointment.

Ren was sitting around all the rock-shurikens he had made previously and picked up the next one. All their edges were dull and not cunning enough to cut through anyone. That had to change.
Ren still had his Byakugan activated, observing the rock-shuriken in his palm. He sent a burst of chakra scraping under the shuriken, sharpening one side of it. "There we go! But that's just one side.. and, one edge."

Ren suddenly stood up, he focused chakra to the tips of his other fingers and started to strike the dulled rock-shuriken in different spots. It was becoming sharper with each strike he gave. By the time he was done, the rock-shuriken was sharp enough to make an impression on a tree.

Ren grasped the sharpened rock-shuriken and chucked it at a tree. It stuck into the wood with a thud. "YEA! But that was manually sharpened. I can't do that with every rock-shuriken I make, or the enemy will attack while I do it." He spoke to himself, knowing that his imaginary friend Meesha was listening in.

"Prepare sharpened rock-shurikens before hand? Yea but Meesha, what if I run out on the battle field? I need to make them like that!" He snapped his fingers to show how quickly he needed to make them on the spot. Ren sat on the ground again and picked up another one of his dulled rock-shurikens. He needed a different approach rather than using Gentle Fist.

Ren continued to sit there and stared at the harmless rock-shuriken. He didn't know how to sharpen it.

"Uhh.." Ren tossed the rock-shuriken aside and picked up a stone that was laying about. Within a few seconds he changed the shape of the stone into a shuriken. The edges were still dulled. "Now I know I got the shape thing down. It's just.. the sharpness of it."
