I was fourteen. It was a few days after my birthday. DUring the summer so I was lucky. I have my mom and older sister who told me about everything. So I was really quite prepared for it.
But When I did first get it, it was the night that I was going to an iron maiden concert. I was in a saturday morning bowling league at the time. My aunt Denise was driving me home and I had this terrible stomach ache. So I limped into my house and went to the bathrrom hoping I would just throw up or something so the pain would go away.
I had to pee and then I looked down and thought for a secong, 'No way did i just crap myself!' After about a minute of being like ahh crud, i realized what it was. I started crying. I laugh at how stupid I was now. BUt I didn't want to get my period. Ever since my sister had gotten it she had been a royal b***h. i didn't want to turn into one as well.
So I called my sister. And she went 'ew, throw those in the trash' And I looked at the first pair of undies my period had soiled and cried again then threw them into the trash. My sister told me to take a shower and stop crying. So I did.
My dad found out. -_- And my parents have the reverse role thing going on. My dad is more motherly than my mom. My dad hugged me and told me that everything was going to be okay and that it was just part of growing up. And I looked up at him and told him... 'Why couldn't you have made me a boy?!' The b*****d laughed and told me to get ready to go to the concert. I made this face at him: domokun But I go tready and sat in my seat the whole time while my mom told me to cheep up. Sure mom.
I hated wearing a pad from the start but I was afraid to use a tampon. The first time I tried it hurt. But after half a year I couldn't take sitting in my own blood anymore and also I had to play softball, I'm a catcher, so I didnt want to squat in a pad. So i made the tampon work. I havent used a pad in two years and I never will again.

I got it the summer before my eighth grade year, and I am currently a Sophomore. I was home alone and I woke up and freaked. xD I didn't want to tell my mum, but I had nothing, and she only had tampons, so she came and got me and went to the store. THEN I had to go baby-sit six kids who demanded I play with them, despite the horrible cramps.
It was bad.
I have yet to try tampons. Scary. ;_; Wish I could though.

I Was 12 and spending a weekend with my best friend! Then on saturday i had really bad cramps! it sucked soo i went to the bathroom and guess what?!?!?! i started my period!! and I didnt have any pads with me sweatdrop sucked even more....but anyways i struggled with the pain till i got home on sunday i toke a shower once i got home! and fixed everything mrgreen It Was All Good !! But I never talk to my parents about anything like that or about anything! they dont understand! and will make a big fricken deal out of it!! GRRR Rents Can Be a Pain In My Bottom twisted sweatdrop At First I used Pads! Cause i didnt no how to use a tampon yet!
But Now I Wont use a pad! I Love Tampons! Better To use!!

I was 11 when I got my first period. I was really excited. But yeah, the rest is just a little too embarassing.

I was 14, later than average, I beleive. I was out with my mates, and I just shoved a load of loo roll down my pants. Thankfully, they didn''t notice. My mum wasn't too shocked, it hadn't happened yet, so she knew and I knew that it would soon.

i started mine when I was 12, half way through my 7th grade year....
I thought I had diarrhea and crapped myself. xd
You know, cuz it felt wet down there and my stomach.
So then I went to the bathroom to see what was up, and I wiped myself and saw blood. I was all surprised and I called my mom and she was all neutral then I was like I CAN MAKE BABIES NOW MOM mrgreen ...Then she was like confused
But she let me stay home and I got to play Final Fantasy all day...So it was good.
I was well informed about it, and actually kind of relieved to have it. I didn't get any cramps or anything and never have, so I guess it was kind of a happy thing...I mean, I BECAME A WOMAN-ISH kinda thing. So yeah.
PS; I've only used a tampon once and I didn't like it much...It was uncomfortable, but maybe I wasn't using it right.

i started mine when i was 13...and on the forth of july...which sucked because the picnic we were going to the people had a pool and i wasnt ready to use tampons yet...plus since i didnt have to pee for a long while i thought it just went away untill i went to the bathroom and my tan shorts were now red in the middle...

i was 13 years old and i was at home but i had to go to a friends house that weekend, 3 days with the period in my friendshouese fortunately that time i had a light one and no cramps. i cant use tampons at night but at day it would be alright if i could just get one in i got my first 3 years ago

To tell everyone the complete truth: I really never knew it was so tough! Being only 12 myself, most of the girls don't talk about this kind of stuff with guys (well, duh!), but even so, I haven't even HEARD anything this bad.

I was 11. It was the beginning of summer after sixth grade, and I had to go to the bathroom, so I did, and I saw that I had my period! So I told my mom, and she got me a pad and all that junk, but then, like, 5 minutes later, my guy friend, his little brother, and his little brother's friend came over, and WANTED TO GO SWIMMING. I said, no, I didn't feel like it, and luckly, my friend didn't either. Of course, he asked WHY I didn't want to go swimming, and I'm a horrible liar, so I just told him that I got my period. He knew what it was thanks to his mom, so he just said, "Okay," and we kept watching the movie that we were watching.
