Emi ran a hand down FlameFrost's back. "Judging from the yell I'm think that you said that if we couldn't get back to our barrack Abigail would show us the way. Am I right Flame?" Emi asked the red adsolence.
FlameFrost nodded his head. Although Hail had been harsh on him, he didn't care much. Just seeing that he was able to find his bonded human was enough for him to be happy. Flame turned to go.
"I think we'll be just fine. Bye Abigail! See you tomorrow!" Emi said before walking away with FlameFrost. Flame, think you can scent your way back?
What? You've got to be kidding me. The male wolf had had enough trouble with tracking Emi already. He growled when he hear Emi chuckle.
Just find three scents mixed together. Emi pointed out.
Oh, okay. FlameFrost did so. About an hour later then arrived back at their barracks. I'm going to rest for a bit Flame said before settleing down to rest.
Fine by me Emi said. She went inside and finshed unpacking.

"See ya tomorrow!" Abigail called back through the closed door. If they had heard her very loud protest to HailWing's suggestion, then certainly they would have heard that. Abigail spent the rest of that day, which had been quite a while despite what HailWing said, either lying down or walking very slowly and carefully toward the bathroom, where she would spend an excrutiating several minutes before hurriedly going back to the bed. It was then that she considered giving HailWing a saddle. Nothing heavy, like a horse's, but at least something that made a wolf as boney as her more comfortable. Sitting for just a few hours had the same effect as taking some phallic object and shoving it up a certain very inappropriate place many times, not that Abigail had any basis of comparison for the two. She had certainly done nothing like that in her lifetime.
There were times when the wolfrider would go out and about, talking to friends and those whom she wanted to be friends with. But, contrary to popular belief, that was not all Abigail did. This situation with her rear end wasn't the only thing that kept her from going out some nights. She had many talents, her somewhat wanton lifestyle not included. An example of one of these is that of knitting or sewing. Living on a farm with a fairly low income had kept her poor enough not to buy clothes from any of the several professional seamstresses of that area. So as a result, she had to make her own clothes and as Abigail understood it, was pretty good at it. Even in her anti-social school days in the city, she wouldn't have dreamed of going anywhere dressed like a bag lady or whatever the equivalent to such a person was.
Another of her talents was, well, less of a talent and more of a skill. Abigail wasn't an excellent carpenter, as several of the additions to her own barrack would attest to, but if given the right measurements and instructions, it was very unlikel that she would make a mistake. In short, Abigail was very good with her hands. Where this area of expertise eluded her was the art department. Trying to draw, paint, or sculpt was like trying to "take the bull by the horns" as the saying goes. It hurt both one's hands and one's pride.
It didn't take long for HailWing to move from her favorite place to the inside of her den. This night was cloudy and it looked like it was about to rain. No matter how strong or invincible HailWing seemed, she wasn't impervious to rain. It was what HailWing did nearly every day. When she grew tired of that spot or was, by some force outside of her control, forced to leave from it, her retreat was her den. Even though she found the place uncomfortable and dull, Hail felt a sort of attachment to it. It was her home, after all, and the place she would be there for the rest of her life. How long that time was, of course, remained to be seen.
Thinking about it, that was one of the few desireable things about death. At least she wouldn't be forced to stay in that dreadful den any longer. Now that she thought about it, it was also one of the few desireable things about being a patron. When before, HailWing was spending an unhealthy amount of time in a place she didn't like because she disliked the place less than any of the other options, now she would be in a place that she didn't like because there was no alternative. HailWing laughed humorlessly. What this female wolf needed was a good battle. If nothing else, it would at least put her in a better mood.
Each spent the rest of the day doing various solitary tasks, occasionally talking to one another to avoid complete boredom. Then they drifted off to sleep and waited in their dreams for the next uneventful morning to come.

After Emi had finally managed to finish unpacking she spent the rest of her time wandering around the fort alone. It wasn't at all unpleasant. She was happy to have sometime to herself. It allowed her to go over her day. She ended up laughing at some of the event. I can't wait to meet some more people. Emi wondered about all the people she would meet. She also thought about if they ever went over to New Eve to meet up with EternalRose. "Would probably be a good idea too go sometime after me and Flame finish our training.
Flame spent the rest of his day relaxing. The tracking lesson had drained him more then he thought. His paws hurt and all he wanted to do was lounge around and rest. He tried to push away all thoughts of the day. I just want to search around the fort soon. Emi, you meanie! You left me here all alone! he pouted. I'm totally gonna get on her case for this.
The young wolf felt his eyes become heavy after a while. He knew it was time to get some rest. FlameFrost settled down in a comfortable position and drifted into sleep. Dreams of becoming an Alpha floated in his sleep.
Emi felt her body begin to become heavy after a while of searching around. "Sleepy" she yawned. Quietly, she walked back to her barrack. Emi decided to check in on her lovable wolf before settling down to sleep. Once she saw that the flame colored wolf was already fast asleep, she hopped into the shower.
She finished washing quickly and dressed into her sleeping clothes. Emi was so sleep that she flopped into bed and was out as soon as her head hit the pillow. Her dreams danced around her as she slept till the next morning.

||Ugggggggggh... Too short...|| Abigail stretched and stood. She had been sitting in bed for the past half hour, just thinking (if that's rightfully what anything going on in her mind should be called). HailWing had left some time in the night and hadn't returned. She had looked for her, failed, and found Emi as well as a Sergeant Shields outside somewhere. HailWing had been acting strangely while training FlameFrost, but Abigail couldn't place what exactly was wrong. She hadn't heard from her and she was beginning to get worried.
The currently wolf-less wolfrider had contemplated talking to Riya or one of the sergeants about it, but decided it was a bad idea. For one, Alister was condescending enough without knowing that she'd lost HailWing and Abigail didn't want to send everyone on a wild goose chase if HailWing was just in a bad mood. It would be difficult to explain to Emi and FlameFrost, though. Instead of trying to explain her worries to the two, she would simply give them her best guess. HailWing was in a bad mood and didn't want company.
After doing all of the morning obligations (brushing her teeth, bathing, etc. etc.), Abigail set out to the same place that they had met the day before.

OoC: Not sure what to post so I shall use the little creativity that has returned to my brain XP
FlameFrost had caught up on some sleep while Emi ate some breakfast. They had left their barracks early in the morning and finally returned sometime ago. Emi didn't eat anything before they left before so her hunger finally managed to catch up with the constantly moving girl.
Emi wandered around her barrack. She had finished eating and she was making sure that everything was in order before they left. FlameFrost! Off your butt now! She called to the red wolf that rested in his space. Emi waited outside until she saw the flame colored fur of her bonded wolf. Come on, let's go. The two started the walk to the training grounds.
Flame walked with the teenage girl next to him. What do you think we'll be doing today? he asked.
Don't know but we can ask now. I see Abigail already. Emi wondered why she didn't see HailWing with her Patron.

Abigail smiled and greeted her apprentice, waving good-naturedly toward FlameFrost. "Howdy, y'all! It's nice ta see y'all ain't sore after yesterday. Ta tell ya the truth, I ain't feelin' so good myself," She rubbed her bottom for emphasis. Abigail took another look around the training area to see if HailWing was anywhere in sight.
"Guess it's good that Hail didn't decide to show up, then. I couldn't spend another minute sittin' on her boney behind," she laughed humorlessly. She was worried, though it seemed very unlikely that the wolf was in any kind of danger. Abigail sighed, something unharacteristic of someone so happy all the time.
"Don't know what we're gonna do today yet. I was thinkin' -er... actually it was Hail who said somethin' about it yesterday- that maybe you-" Abigail nodded to Emi. "could practice with yer rifle today." Abigail took out her own gun and pointed it toward the nearest target. "They taught you how to use it at school, right?" Instead of waiting for an answer, she went through all the steps of using it very slowly.
Abigail cocked the hammer, aimed, and pulled the trigger, hitting the target dead center. It was something she was more than adequately skilled at. It didn't require much thought to shoot something, just like it didn't take much thought during physical combat. A private didn't have to think a whole lot about the formation or battle tactics other than where her place in it all happened to be. The rest depended on whatever the Captain, Lieutenant, or sergeants said to do.
"Did they give ya yer own gun yet or do you need to borrow mine?"

You left yours in the barrack, Emi. FlameFrost would be just fine with relaxing as the girl trained. After all, he knew that when HailWing came back he would be thrown into a lot of training. He meant, a lot.
"It looks like I left mine in my barrack. Give me ten minutes and I'll be back." Emi was a speed and distance runner which helped out quiet a bit. With that, the teenager spun away and sprinted off. It took her four minutes to get to her barrack.
When she reached her barrack, the blue and black haired girl skid to a stop. Upon entering, she went to her closet where Emi had carefully hung up her rifle. The girl knew she would have to train a bit before she could a target dead center but that was just fine. After leaving the barrack and throwing herself back into running, she found that she was faster then the first time. Must be because I haven't ran in a few days, She thought.
"I'm back!" Emi yelled eight minutes after she left her Patron. Her hand waved in the air as she came closer.
Finally, I was getting bored having to sit here while not being able to see anything, the flame red wolf shot at his bounded with a joking voice.

Abigail nodded and waited for Emi to retrieve her rifle, noting the girl's speed. Abigail herself was somewhat slow, but was quite strong and very proficient with weaponry and hand-to-hand combat. If Abigail could pass on that skill to Emi, the girl would be a force to reckon with. She pointed to the nearest target and then stepped back and smiled dumbly. "Maybe you should get closer first," she suggested.
At this point, it would be good if Emi could even hit the target and Abigail didn't expect results the first day. "Uh, I know they tell ya t' aim high at the academy-" a counter to gravity, which tends to move bullets south of their target, "But it'd be better if ya aim low for the time bein'." Abigail didn't want any stray bullets to hit any unsuspecting passersby, be them human or wolf. Seeing as how HailWing wasn't around, it would take a lot to keep any rider from protecting their injured wolf, or worse, a wolf protecting their injured rider.
Abigail demonstrated how to use the weapon again, trying to explain, if somewhat unclear, how exactly to get the job done. "Ya got that?"

Emi nodded her head with a bright smile. She could easily tell that Abigail was on the power side rather then the speed and agility side like herself. Still, the Private had excellent marksmanship, something that Emi had not achieved yet.
The teenager move a bit closer to her target. She aimed and shot, making sure to aim low. Her bullet hit at least half an inch from the edge of the target. "Alright! I hit it!" she said happily. To be able to hit it just from where she stood was amazing. It had of course been easy for Abigail, she was well trained. For Emi, it was harder.
It's amazing, he snicker, earning himself a look from his bonded. The red wolf laid off to the side, where he was safe from stray shots but still able to see everything clearly

Abigail grinned, applauding her apprentice for a job well done. It was pretty amazing that she had hit the target, though it might have just been beginner's luck. The next few shots would determine whether it was or not. Abigail had, for lack of a better word, sucked in the beginning. Luck had not been a part of her training at all. It had taken her entire year as an apprentice to develop a technique that worked for her. Her patron had certainly been no help.
Before letting Emi shoot a second time, Abigail gave a few pointers about how to hold the gun and how to stand while shooting. It was difficult trying to explain things. Abigail had never been a mincer of words. Of course, these little tips here and there might not even be helpful at all. Everyone at the fort had their own way of doing things and it took a very long time practicing and combat experience to figure out their own way of doing things.
"Maybe FlameFrost could practice his tracking some more? Or maybe he should run a couple o' laps around the trainin' field?" Abigail asked. It really wasn't her place to be ordering the wolf around, but since HailWing had disappeared, there was no one left to do it. "The Captain'd be pretty sore at me if I let y'all slack off, y'know?" She smiled nervously and rubbed the back of her neck. "What do ya think, Emi?"

Emi had listen carefully to her patron's tips. She tried the different ways but found that she had to mix and adjust before it felt right. Guns had never been her strong point, it was always something that involved speed and agility in movement.
When Abigail suggested making FlameFrost run laps, a hidden smirk was held on her face. "Why I think that is a good idea. Don't want him getting too lazy or fat." She replied.
Flame cringed at the sound of his name put together with practice and running. He couldn't blame Abigail for suggesting so. After all, Hailwing was a strict patron. FlameFrost heaved a big sigh.
With that sigh, he pushed himself to his paws and stretched quickly. "Alright, I'm going, I'm going." In a flurry of fire and ice, he was off, running around the training field, at of course a good pace for him.

With the most of her job done, all that was left for Abigail to do was correct Emi when she made a mistake (which didn't seem likely because she and Flame were pretty fast learners) and make sure they stayed out of trouble. HailWing would have known what to do, but wherever she was, she wasn't going to help her. Perhaps this was a test to see how well she would do on her own.
Either way, it didn't matter. Abigail had already started on a new project and it would be pretty boring for her for the rest of the day. She supposed that Flame would get tired of running laps at some point or another. Abigail would have to think of something else for him to do at that time. Right now she was considering a continuation of the tracking lessons. After such little practice, there was no way FlameFrost's nose was perfectly trained yet.
But there was a question of what to do. They couldn't do the same as they had yesterday. Abigail couldn't hide Emi anywhere and leave Flame alone, even for a little bit. It wasn't that she expected him to cause a ruckus, just that a ruckus might come to him and that he wouldn't know how to handle it. However unlikely the situation was, she didn't want to take any chances. Abigail watched as Emi mixed and matched the ways that a rifle could be held to find what was the best way for her. If Emi learned as fast as Abigail thought she learned, then a lot of this year would be unnecessary practicing.

FlameFrost ran his laps as his bonded practiced using a gun. He snorted to himself. Having fun with guns? he asked Emi. I mean it's only fair that I mock you. You are the reason why I'm running laps.
Emi's grip on her rifle became tense as Flame danced on her nerves. Shut it. It really isn't my fault that you such a lazy butt. She shot and missed her target. FlameFrost really knew how to get on her nerves even though she was usually level-headed.
Ah, ha ha. Nice shot, the red wolf laughed. Anyway, what else am I supposed to learn as a wolf adolescence? Flame sometimes actually liked learning new stuff. It was quiet a surprise to the dark haired female when she found out.
And how would I know that? I'm not a wolf much less HailWing. She your patron and I will let her drive you hard if you don't stop with the comments, Emi said, evil tinting her words. Her next shot proved to be a bit luckier. The bullet managed to hit closer to where her first bullet was.
The young wolf shivered in effect to Emi. Sorry, Flame apologized. I'll shut up now. His flame fur continued to ripple as he ran around the field.
