The great land octopus hunt!

Rhys didn't know where to go, he'd just gotten out of trouble with Cinder and had his new motorcycle to show for it. Even though it hadn't been him Tek was suppose to be under his supervision. Without many friends on the new planet Rhys hauled Tek with him and headed toward a quieter darker part of town.

After a quick but careful drive across town Rhys pulled up not far from the Medusa Shop, "stay out of trouble, we have enough of that from you at the moment." Glaring over toward the fiend next to him Rhys moved quickly to the front door, stepping inside he glanced around hoping that Thomas would be near the front.

[10/7/2010 9:16:34 PM] kipestshin: Thomas was at the front desk reading over a book. He looked up as soon as he heard the doornob move. "Hey Rhys... Tek." he looked at them a little confused, they seemed to be a playing their visit on the downlow. "You guys okay?"
[10/7/2010 9:19:33 PM] Emily Smith: Rhys wings twitched uneasily before he glanced at Tek and then Thomas moving forward and speaking softly, "er well we are alright but we have a bit of a problem...and you were the first person I thought of that might be able to help." Saki he knew when contained and with someone she recognized as her master wasn't really a threat...but outside of the ship on her own she'd be dangerous, and since the planet was different from the tropical climates of her home he wasn't really sure where she'd try to hole up.

"Tek...decided to liberate, well ... she's sort of my mother's guard dog. Getting her back is going to be a problem..."
[10/7/2010 9:22:33 PM] kipestshin: Thomas smiled since he wasn't called on like this often and it made him feel tough and useful. "Oh, no problem, just gotta track down this dog?: he thought for a quick second looking over the two of them. "Its a dog... right?"

[10/7/2010 9:27:01 PM] Emily Smith: Rhys winced slightly at the question, before the boy could figure out how to answer Thomas Tek spoke up his mind voice audiable to both of them. /It's a puppy eater actually - but she has tentacles and I have tentacles and I just knew she didn't want to be stuck in the ship./ Tek blinked all three of his eyes and then looked to the two expectantly.

Rhys sighed, "it's a land octopus."

[10/7/2010 9:30:03 PM] kipestshin: "ooookay..." he flexed, "then lets catch us the puppy eater!... need me to grab anything, or should we just go?" Thomas was writing a note as he spoke. "Land octopus? that sounds... fancy..... "

[10/7/2010 9:36:38 PM] Emily Smith: A mental giggle from Tek went to Rhys and Thomas as the nickname it had given Saki was used.

"Er...and possibly dangerous. Cinder picked a land octopus because you really don't want to meet one that thinks your potentially food..."
[10/7/2010 9:39:04 PM] kipestshin: Thomas looked up from his note. "Oh... hmmm..." he quickly added a little more to the paper. "so a tazer or something we might need? and a cage?"

[10/7/2010 9:43:48 PM] Emily Smith: Rhys considered a moment, "I'm not sure that a tazer would take Saki down...see a land octopus looks a bit like it's aquatic counterpart that your more use to. But they have barbs on their tentacles and actually move rather quickly on land. She'll probably be in a tree of some sort, they like to hold onto the tree with two tentacles and then drop down on prey using their other six tentacles to snatch them up off the ground and eat them." Thomas did bring up a good point...how exactly was he going to capture Saki to get her back on the ship, "I think if we can locate her I'll be able to get her into a cage ... she recognizes me as someone she is suppose to take orders from."

Tek glanced from one to the other listening, although he had freed Saki in the first place he listened patiently to plans to capture her back. /Well she does have to eat./

Rhys glared over at Tek again, "Tek...she could really really hurt people or kill them or children." Rhys sighed heavily, "we have to catch her before she ... does something like that."

[10/7/2010 9:50:38 PM] kipestshin: Thomas shivvered at the thought of something grabbing him. "uhh... yeah I really hope she likes you." ^_^' *he patted the boy on the head. "Lets go? you know... before the people eating." he dinged a help bell loudly and pushed them out the door.

[10/7/2010 9:57:14 PM] Emily Smith: Rhys and Tek were easily pushed out since Rhys was rather keen on getting started, "alright, uhm...well I brought my bike. I'm not sure we could both fit on it and actually drive it. We need to get back closer to my house...because well - she'll likely still be in the area."

Rhys glanced over to Thomas and then his bike considering if he could somehow get the snakeman onto it.

[10/7/2010 11:52:21 PM] kipestshin: Thomas looked at the bike. "Wow, this yours?" he made a quick look back at the shop door to see a red glove giving him a thumbs up. "Let's go? he tried to figure out how that was going to work but was flexable.

[10/8/2010 12:07:42 AM] Emily Smith: "Right..." Rhys got on the bike, luckily Tek didn't actually take up too much room and after a bit of uncomfortable shifting and contorting the two were seated fairly comfortably on the machine - although Thomas ended up wrapped around him some they seemed secure enough.

Rhys got them back across town fairly quickly, luckily the shop and the house weren't too far apart. Rhys pulled his bike up to the house slowly not actually pulling into the garage until he noted that the jeep was gone, "alright, Cinder is still gone..." untangling from the snake he gave Thomas time to get off the bike before he also stood stretching some from the ride, "at least she didn't get me a sports bike...I'm not sure that would have been possible."

Tek dropped into appearance next to them. /So...how are we going to find the puppy eater!/ The fiend was beaming again, Rhys just knew it...

[10/8/2010 12:11:58 AM] kipestshin: Thomas fixed his shirt still grinning from the ride like a kid. "Next time we should go faster! Nice ride.... I've never been on one of these." his tail was wagging like a contented cat. "Heh, yes the puppy eater... hmm... you said it likes trees yeah? Maybe... um... " he looked around, " you want to lead the way?" he scooted a little closer to Rhys unsure if he was protecting him or visa versa.

[10/8/2010 12:33:05 AM] Emily Smith: "Hm, lets get to the ship - there should be a containment block there that we can take with us to grab her." Rhys started off across the rather sizable yeard, "at least park close to us...they tend to be heavy..."

As he started past a small guest house the door opened, Clotho stepped out raising an eye ridge slightly as she noted the group, "Thomas?"

[10/8/2010 12:35:22 AM] kipestshin: Thomas was suprised seeing Clotho and tried to play it cool after a pause. "H-i....." he gave a wave to the dragon lady. "How are you?" he tried not looking to where Rhys had gone off to.
[10/8/2010 12:39:18 AM] Emily Smith: Clotho smiled slowly moving over toward Thomas, "So... what brings you here? I'd have guessed to come and visit but I didn't know you knew where I lived..." Glancing over the area Clotho then looked back.

Clotho's glance was just a few moments early enough that she missed seeing Rhys and Tek coming up from behind her, a large metal container being pulled along on a sleek hover sled. Seeing Clotho Rhys' expression turned to panic.

[10/8/2010 12:42:23 AM] kipestshin: Thomas tried so damn hard not to look guilty. "Oh, uh... yeah. I was actually looking for Rhys, we were going to hang out today and stuff... " his tail flicked, "Its good to see you though." he smiled. "I feel like I should have brought cookies or something..."

[10/8/2010 12:54:30 AM] Emily Smith: Clotho watched Thomas a long moment, subterfuge she realized really wasn't the snakeman's strong point. Clotho stepped forwarded keeping eye contact, "your not very good at being tricky are you?"

Rhys winced, he remembered how he felt with Dio when it came to facing Cinder and Merci. Sighing he moved up with the sled and spoke up, "uhm...hi..." biting his lip he stood with the sled looking more guilty then he really wanted to. Tek for his part waved happily to Clotho in greeting.

[10/8/2010 12:57:07 AM] kipestshin: Thomas rolled his eyes at being caught. "No... not really, at least when I'm not on my turf." he stuck his tounge out in guilt. "now I know i should have brought cookies..."

[10/8/2010 1:02:12 AM] Emily Smith: Clotho ran her hand along the back of Thomas arm and spoke quietly, "we'll talk about not letting Rhys get you into trouble later on." The draconian didn't keep contact long before sighing and stepping forward, "why do you have a containment cube out of the ship?" Her question was curious and her voice steady and for the moment not angry.

Rhys' wings flickered uneasily considering how best to answer the question, Tek once again rose his hand bouncing in place lightly. /We have to catch the Puppy Eater!/

Rhys clenched his fist and somehow kept from slapping his hand over his eyes.

Clotho's eyes widened, "Saki's out - " before she had a chance to continue the sound of the neighbor caught their attention.

"Fluffy...Fluffy?" The elderly woman's voice drifted through the air.

Clotho glanced to Rhys again looking a touch alarmed, "Saki's out..." pausing a moment she watched as their neighbor started to walk from her backyard into others calling for her pet. "and I think she might have eaten Mrs. Miller's dog..."

[10/8/2010 1:09:18 AM] kipestshin: Thomas looked a bit alarmed. "S...she really eats puppies huh?" he wispered and scooted away from the neighbors voice.

[10/8/2010 1:13:14 AM] Emily Smith: Clotho glanced over toward Thomas a look of amusement coming over her face, "Saki eats just about everything ... if she is the culprit...we're lucky it's just a dog at this point."

Clotho sighed and stepped over toward the containment cube, running her hand over the controls the device started making noise and numbers ran over a panel on the side, "we'll need to bait her...I'm going to talk to Mrs. Miller and find out what I can about Fluffy. If Saki did get the dog at least we know she's still close to the house." Clotho headed off after glancing to the group toward the sound of their neighbor.

Rhys gave Thomas a weak smile before glancing around, "well at least with Clotho ... it should be easier ... hopefully."

[10/8/2010 1:23:15 AM] kipestshin: "Thats good... " he was happy to not be lying. "so Clotho is going to help?" he was wagging the tip of his tail again all happy. "... you don't think Saki could um... hurt me yeah?" he scooted back towards Rhys and the box.

[10/8/2010 1:29:37 AM] Emily Smith: Rhys glanced over at Thomas and grinned slightly, "well she could, but lucky for you she is pretty well fed so she shouldn't be going after bigger creatures at the moment." Opening a compartment on the side of the cube Rhys took out a few things, "plus your big enough that you'd likely be able to put up a bit of a fight if she attempted to snag you."

Tek's eyes widened and looked at Thomas thoughtfully, /your long, I don't think Saki would want to take the time to eat you!/
[10/8/2010 1:30:36 AM] Emily Smith: Clotho came strolling back before the three had too much time to themselves, "Fluffy's been gone for most of the day, I'm guessing that Saki got loose a bit earlier so...it's likely she got Fluffy. Since she's eaten we'll have to check the tress high up - she'll probably be resting."
[10/8/2010 1:32:41 AM] kipestshin: "Trust me... i'd fight." he was trying to not look concerned and not pulling it off very well. "thanks Tek... you always know what to say to make it better." he tried to man up as he saw Clotho comming. "well lets go get her!"

[10/8/2010 1:38:59 AM] Emily Smith: Rhys shrugged slightly despite the danger that a land octopus could pose he seemed fairly relaxed. Tek beamed at Thomas, since he didn't really have a mouth it wasn't seen but the feeling of being grinned at was there.

"Let me grab a few things, Saki is fairly tame as land octopus go...but I don't want to take any chances." Clotho paused to grin slightly at Thomas, "don't worry...I promise if Saki was eating you I'd shoot her." Winking quickly the draconian disappeared into her house, as she stepped out Kee could be seen for a moment fussing over her. Once she was fully outside a black gun holster shown rather obviously against her white shirt and scales. "Got some bait in case we need it?" Clotho glanced to Rhys, she seemed calm but her eyes would dart further away from time to time as if not wanting to stay in one place too long.

[10/8/2010 1:44:33 AM] kipestshin: Thomas looked over her and wiggled. "Wow, that octopus dosn't have a chance." he flexed. " and.... thank you." >.>

[10/8/2010 1:47:59 AM] Emily Smith: Rhys watched the two a moment, blinking slightly realization of some sort came to his eyes. Clearing his throat he started forward with the sled, "so where should I park this? Probably don't want to freak the neighbors out too much with the container or with Saki once we find her. Though...I'm wondering if either would really bother them." With Clotho and the Medusa most people in the area gave the household a wide berth, which suited the group fine and Rhys found it nice to be the least freaky person in the house.

"We'll head out toward the park that's where Fluffy disappeared, park the sled on the edge of the property luckily the sun is going down. So that should give us some cover as well..."

[10/8/2010 1:53:00 AM] kipestshin: Thomas was happy to not be seen. "keep your eyes open Tek... " he smiled at the shadow. He followed along trying to keep an eye open behind the group incase of a sneak attack.

[10/8/2010 2:01:34 AM] Emily Smith: The group made their way to the park, the park was only a couple blocks away. If anyone was bothered by the gathering they didn't vocalize it, "alright Rhys park it there..." Clotho gestured to some nearby bushes.

Dark had fully fallen by the time the group stepped into the park, for the moment the area appeared to be quiet. The park had been upkept well and trees covered the area before the park disappeared into forest. "It's going to be hard to see her...she'll camaflague in with the trees." From a bag Clotho took out several sticks and smacked them over her leg, as the sticks snapped they started to glow brilliantly, she then started passing them out to the group. Noting the light sticks Tek dodged behind Rhys and pressed close hiding under the boy's wing, /we would prefer not to have one!/

"Don't worry Tek I'll be careful," Rhys took the stick and nodded in thanks, "I guess we could all start in different areas and meet where the trees start into the forest?"

[10/8/2010 2:07:12 AM] kipestshin: "To shiney for you Tek?" Thomas was part teasing and part serious. "These are really neat. Um.... who should I go with? or..." Thomas wondered if he was gonna have to go alone.
[10/8/2010 2:11:11 AM] Emily Smith: "Alright, Rhys and Tek head off to the right - Thomas you can head off with me..." Clotho motioned Thomas over, "Since night has fallen Saki should be waking up, land octopus are naturally nocturnal. Rhys keep in mind she is going to be in hunting mod so if she starts dropping down or you spot her use her name...make sure you command her."

Rhys nodded, "got it...lets go Tek." Turning he headed off to the right, if he was worried about Saki attacking him he didn't show it. "Tek, I want you to drift away a bit, tell me if I'm missing anything in the shadows." A mental sound of excitement went through to the group as Tek darted off into a shadow.

Clotho glanced over at Thomas and then motioned to the left, "we'll start this way...it just occured to me though. Someone really should teach you some self defense."
[10/8/2010 2:15:56 AM] kipestshin: Thomas wiggled still happy. "Poking it with the light stick isn't good enough?" he parried it jokingly but still looking around.

[10/8/2010 2:24:21 AM] Emily Smith: Clotho laughed slightly, "actually...Saki shouldn't be much of a danger to me or Rhys....or you since your with us. I just mean in general ..." Clotho frowned slightly as she walked as if there was more to her thoughts that she didn't want to bring up.

Rhys continued to walk pausing from time to time to call out, "Saki...treat Saki." Tek drifted along as well darting from one shadow to the next trying to catch sight of his puppy eating friend.

[10/8/2010 2:29:52 AM] kipestshin: Thomas smiled sadly. "Yeah... you might have a point.... I mean i can um handle some things... but I'd love for you to teach me..." he fiddled with the light. "I've got strong arms at least..."

[10/8/2010 2:37:40 AM] Emily Smith: Clotho glanced over at Thomas and reached her hand out to run over him arm, "Hm...you do have fit arms," smiling slightly she teased, "I noticed that before." Clotho paused in her patrol a moment, "I just don't want you to get hurt..."

Rhys sighed, "maybe Fluffy just wandered off...or so a cat and got lost..." they hadn't caught sight of Saki yet and he wasn't feeling very patient.

Tek darted off once again, this time however the fiend caught sight of some movement. Following along a grouping of tentacles was rather apparent, /Puppy Eater! Here! Here she is!/

Clotho jerked her head around hearing Tek's mental call, "they found her," not taking time for more heart to heart she hurried off toward the two boys.

[10/8/2010 2:43:30 AM] kipestshin: Thomas just about died with happy thoughts as she talked with him but whipped his head as Tek got their attention. He hurried over being thankful the octopus didn't drop on him.

[10/8/2010 2:50:32 AM] Emily Smith: "Saki, treat...are you hungry?" Rhys opened his messenger bag pulling out what appeared to be grey jerky.

/Of course she isn't hungry, she ate a puppy! Did you really eat Mrs. Miller's dog, Saki? She's going to be so mad if you did!/ Tek sat up in the tree not far form where Saki had holed up, after doing his part and finding her the fiend didn't seem to be overly worried about helping capture her.

Clotho ran toward the two pausing once she caught sight, looking up she gestured to the dark spot in the tree pointing out Saki's basic location to Thomas. Without warning a small mechanical device that looked similar to an Ipod flew down from the tree straight toward Thomas.

[10/8/2010 2:56:45 AM] kipestshin: Thomas looked in the direction of the ipod chucker, just in time to close his eyes and hold out his hand to block it, and catch it. "AHHH!!!! - OW! what the?!' Thomas looked at the ipod. "what?... do all you guys like electronics?" he held the ipod out to Rhys.

[10/8/2010 2:59:29 AM] Emily Smith: Clotho blinked in surprise and glanced to the device, "it's her music player...and yes most of us do." She flashed a bit of fang as she grinned toward Thomas.

Rhys groaned slightly, "I bet it's out of batteries...she's pouting." Tek giggled from up in the tree watching the antics of the others. Rhys glared though in the dark he could only make out the bits of Tek that glowed.

Clotho glanced to Thomas and then up in the tree, "Thomas...tell her you'll make it work again. Hold the device out so she can see it and move back toward the containment cube. I think she'll follow it."

[10/8/2010 3:05:25 AM] kipestshin: Thomas grinned enjoying the idea of the trap. "Oh Saaaaki... " he wiggled the ipod very flashy like, "you like music? You want to listen to iiiiiiitttt?" he wiggled it more closer to the crate. "oh I bet this is nice." he pretended to look at it. "Oh look its charging! Come get it!"

[10/8/2010 3:08:31 AM] Emily Smith: Clotho moved back toward the containment cube, with a few quick key strokes she opened the device. Rhys moved back out of the way, Tek still projected a soft mental giggle too as he watched staying close to Saki.

There was a moment of silence from Saki's spot in the tree, before she moved in one swift movement from her spot to the ground. A soft thud was heard as the creature landed, up close Saki was pretty close to Thomas own height, moving forward she pulled herself over the ground quickly her tentacle lashing out for her music player.

[10/8/2010 3:12:25 AM] kipestshin: Thomas would have screamed like a girl had any noise come out when his mouth to do so. He threw the ipod into the crate as his eyes practically fell out of his head they were so big.

[10/8/2010 3:19:09 AM] Emily Smith: Saki paused a moment near Thomas before retreating into the containment cube. Clotho smiled slightly shutting the cube, "now...that could have gone worse."

Rhys stood nearby frowning slightly looking back at the park, "luckily it didn't," turning he looked back to the others. "Think we'll beat Cinder home?"

Tek moved over toward Rhys, noting the fiend he covered the light stick stowing it away in his bag.

Clotho laughed slightly, "I'm sure she's home by now...you can spend part of the evening explaining to her why she is lucky she isn't down an octopus." Glancing over to Thomas, Clotho smiled slightly. "Plenty of room at my place if you don't have to be back tonight." Motioning to the others Clotho took the lead as they headed back toward the house.

[10/8/2010 3:24:24 AM] kipestshin: Thomas' heart was still racing. "A-all better?" his eyes watered as he blinked after not doing it for a while. "There you go Rhys... high five?" he offered out his hand to the boy. "She probably won't be too mad... since um... Saki got a walk and a snack...." he gave a smile and looked at Clotho. "w...would that be okay? If you don't mind?" his heart raced again for different reasons.

[10/8/2010 3:31:13 AM] Emily Smith: Rhys let out a nervous laugh and returned the five, "I'll get her back on the ship and then talk to Cinder." Clotho nodded her approval, they'd been working with Rhys everyone in the house was pretty easy going, but they'd rather know then not when it came to things like Saki getting loose.

Clotho wrapped her arm around Thomas',"I don't mind at all, Kee is probably in bed already...she has her own room. Which means...I have plenty of room in mine."

[10/8/2010 3:39:18 AM] kipestshin: Thomas smiled at Rhys and Tek. "See, i'm helpful," he flexed, "if you get into trouble just come over to the shop and i promise to have you do 'chores' to work it off..." he gave a mean smile, "you know like trying on clothes and eating cake... very hard chores."

Thomas wanted to curl up on Clotho so badly but just wrapped around her leg a little. "She is doing well?"

[10/8/2010 3:43:16 AM] Emily Smith: Rhys grinned some and nodded, "I'll be sure to stop by then...and..." pausing Rhys looked toward the house. Tek peeked over his shoulder to follow his guardian's gaze, /yep she's home. We can take her!/ Sighing Rhys continued trudging on, "I guess I'll see you guys later on...I ... am going to have some talking to do tonight."

Once Rhys headed off on his own Clotho reached over for Thomas' hand heading toward her small guest house, "she seems to be...though really other then getting together with Sarraqa to fuss over things she doesn't really seem interested in socializing with the other medusa all that much." Clotho frowned slightly as she walked, "perhaps with more time."

[10/8/2010 3:46:47 AM] kipestshin: Thomas took her hand and gave it a soft slow squeeze. "Thats not uncommon... sadly. Not beating the crap out of Sarra just for being near her is a really good sign... beating him over house decor or whatever... well thats just normal." he gave a laugh. "Thanks for letting her stay with you. The shop is nice but I think being away from it all is a lot better for her. Plus, how could she not warm up with all you guys around?" ^_^

[10/8/2010 3:49:24 AM] Emily Smith: Clotho grinned slightly, "I'm not sure that everyone would hold that opinion. As for the beating...I haven't noticed any bruises on Sarraqa so he must be doing better then I thought he would." Walking to her door she pushed it open ushering Thomas inside before dragging him off to her room.

Making Scary New Friends...
Joint at the Medusa Shop
Tek and Bity...

Rhys laid curled up on a small couch, his eyes half closed. In a nearby room the sounds of Thomas and Sarraqa discussing and arguing over fabric for clothing for him. Rhys himself detached himself from the processes, he tended to be a touch nocturnal and Cinder had made him start going to school; so after his first few days without much sleep he was taking this time to lounge.

Tek bobbed next to him the shadow peered over the edge fo the couch toward Rhys. Are you sleeping? If your awake I think you should know I'm bored.

Sighing Rhys peeked and eye open, "I would have been sleeping..." shifting slightly the boy looked over toward the nearby kitchen area, "I saw Chandra earlier...why don't you see if she'd like to talk to you." The dragon medusa had seemed interested enough in Tek originally that Rhys opened she could keep him occupied long enough for him to get a bit of a nap.

Pouting a little Tek slinked across the floor toward the kitchen area, glancing back he noted that his guardian had already closed his eyes. Moving over close to the wall Tek paused a moment considering using the shadow of a nearby table for comfort. Chandra he was sure likely was in the kitchen, but the fact that Rhys had suggested it made him less inclined to go visit with her, with that rebellious thought in mind his attention was drawn to a nearby hall, canting his head curiously Tek moved toward the hall and started down it. In the mostly hidden hall several doors lined the area, moving over toward the closest to him Tek tried the handle. When the door didn't budge the shadow simply phased through it without a second thought. Once inside he paused however, it was a nice enough room...but in the middle of it was a large cage.

A medusa lay on the cage bottom staring at the door like he was some kind of bearskin rug. His eyes wide open and not moving, arms out and bent forward. The shadow's entrance caught his attention and he darted forward tot he front of the cage like lightning. "YOU" his eyes remained fixed but oddly unfocused and unmasked at the shadow's direction, he shifted his shoulders back and forth slightly bobbing from side to side. He didn't speak for a second. "are you pretty? ... I bet you are" he flicked his tongue as he was starting to get more excited to have company.

There was something different about the thing in the cage, Tek could make out the shape it was a Medusa like the others he knew. Moving closer he tilted his head and spoke toward it with his mind voice, of course I'm pretty! Tek studied the Medusa's costume a moment and then looked to the cage, why are you in here?

The medusa pressed against the cage harder. "Come closer! ... pretty." his eyes drifting ever so slightly off before focusing back onto Tek's general area. He was crawling slowly up the cage making himself look taller. "I want to see you... touch you pretty." he gave a smile best he could. "Why am I here?...," his head tilted but he didn't break his gaze. "I was brought here... I must have displeased my master." he bite down a little on his bit and the edge of his last words seemed to relax.

Tek preened a little, he was pretty after all - though something about the strange Medusa at least sent some warning signs off in his mind...not that he was likely to really pay attention to them. Tek moved closer some, but not within touching distance, what did you do to displease him? Because we are pretty sure that this is a very drastic type of timeout. Noting the Medusa crawling to make himself taller, Tek straightened out and drifted upward until he was up higher in height than the Medusa.

The medusa rubbed his chest against the cage trying to get closer. "I.... don't know." he bit down again a few times. "I did something wrong and they took me away." he stretched his gloved fingers up as close as he could to the shadow. "Let me touch you pretty. I want to see you." his eyes were as wide as they could be with excitement.

Tek drifted closer more out of curiosity then anything else, you can't see me? Wrinkling his brow the fiend then focused on the Medusa's fingers, is something wrong with your hands? Reaching out Tek let his shadowy hand pass through the Medusa's brushing Bity with the light chill of shadow. With a though Tek mentally attempted to present the glow of his markings more brightly.

"My master doesn't let me touch ... things often... at least not with my fingers. I love touching things with my fingers." He shivered at Tek passed through him, he pulled his hand back instinctively before slamming into the cage hard trying to grab the shadow. "AGAIN!" the bottom of his eyes curled as they seemed to smile at the glow. "green... you are green pretty...." and intense hiss escaped him. "I want your green... I want to touch your green pretty.." his voice started to become louder and louder as he struggled to get closer to Tek and failing. "closer!... you are cold pretty! I'll keep you warm!" his eyes were watering as he wasn't blinking, "I'LL KEEP YOU WARM! I'LL GIVE YOU A BEAUTIFUL BABY!"

Tek watched the whole thing his eyes remote and thoughtful, why don't you just take your gloves off? The little shadow exerted a bit of will and made his hand solid, reaching out he snatched Bity's wrist. You should be careful, your going to get hurt. Tek's mind voice held a touch of reproach as he talked to the strange Medusa, No one can keep me warm... still holding onto Bity's wrist Tek glanced around the room looking for the babies that were being offered to him.

"I can't." he blinked hard as his the pressure appeared on his wrist. The medusa froze and was quiet for a few minutes as a shiver built up from his tail up. The tip of his tail rattled against the ground. His untouched hand came over and pressed his exposed palm to Tek's hand. "P-pretty... ," he hand snapped shut and grabbed the shadow's arm tightly. "STAY!" his breath getting heavier and more menicing with anticipation.

Bity, your a little strange aren't you? The medusa as it was didn't particularly bother Tek, some part of his mind hinted at a dark hidden memories but they at least for now wouldn't resurface. When the Medusa grabbed his arm Tek tilted his head a moment, the pressure didn't particularly hurt him but he knew that the creature's grasp was likely very tight. After a moment of letting the strange frantic medusa hold his arm Tek loosened his concentration and became insubstantial. Your gloves don't seem to be tied or locked...I could help if you wanted your gloves off.

Bity grasped at the air unsure how he lost his grip on his new friend. "come back!" he seemed alarmed. "My master told me not to take them off...." the leather gave the softest creak as he tightened his fist as clenched as possible, " but... he never said anything about others.... " he was genuinely unsure if it was okay or not. "Then I can touch you again? With my fingers?" he was starting to amp up again with excitement.

Tek considered a moment, he wasn't sure what all was going on with Bity but...he had found that things generally couldn't harm him in his current state, so he was for the most part unworried. At some point during this 'discussion' Tek had realized that the Medusa would do him harm if it was able...though it likely didn't mean to. The shadow knew it likely should leave the room, but truthfully he didn't really feel like it with a brief push of thought toward Rhys he could feel that his guardian was sleeping fitfully. Yes you can, but you have to let me help you with your gloves first...and you need to try and stay calm. You could touch your bars and... Tek gestured to the area, Bity didn't really have a whole lot but maybe he'd like touching it with his fingers as well, do you want my help then?

"Okay... pretty." the medusa was trying to stay calm and barely pulling it off. The urge to grab the shadow was driving him crazy. He turned his back to the fiend and pressed up against the bars. It was clearly some kind of learned behavior from his past residence. He relaxed his hands but curled the tip of his tail around a bar tightly, little tremors passing through him betrayed his excitement. "You feel beautiful pretty... do you taste pretty too?"

Tek cant his head to the side and then reached out and started taking Bity's gloves off, We don't know what weI taste like...as we have never checked. Tek pulled the gloves off letting the gloves drop to the ground as he does, We are not sure you should be tasting people though... His tail swished and then split before melding back together on the back swing. They might not like it... Tek paused and looked over the scars on Bity's shoulders a moment, it looks like people have tasted you before, you must be really tasty. His voice was thoughtful and factual as he spoke.

"They scream when they bite me." He sounded almost proud as he spoke blatantly like it was normal. "I get bit a lot." his voice has a smile to it as his eyes rolled with joy. Once his gloves were off he didn't even look at his shaking hands, he instead quickly started to rub them all over himself. Bity was practically drooling as he touched his arms and face before turning to Tek. His hands pressed against the bars and the touch distracted him for a few seconds as he devoted his attentions to them then back to the shadow. "Come in... I'll tell you how you taste!" his teeth bit down hard as he smiled like a psycho.

Listening to the medusa Tek flickered his tail agian, We are not sure that is good biting...screaming doesn't seem like a good thing. Bobbing forward some Tek watched the creature's hands shake, how long have you had those gloves on? It didn't look entirely alright to him to have him shaking like that, We don't think biting looks to be very good for you either. Tek let a hint of childish reproach enter his voice, We think we have figured out why you are here here...you're in time out. Tek nodded slightly though the fiend didn't bother moving away as he did.

"My master likes it when they scream... he says it is good for them." his eyes shut as continued to touch his neck and face. "It feels good..." his voice practically purring. "my master gloved me since...," his voice trailed off, "always. I get them off so rarely. Special times." he was twisting still terribly excited. "You don't bite?" his attention was slowly building more and more to the fiend. "time out... like in trouble?" he nodded thinking that was a possibility. "I wish my master would tell me what I did wrong...."

Tek's eyes studied Bity a moment, the shadow was pretty sure that Bity's master was not a good person and that was the center of ... whatever this was. Did you master glove you as punishment? Tek tilted his head curiously, drifting closer but staying transparent and wispy as he did. Time out is trouble, We think your master doesn't want you to make people scream. Tek nodded looking to the medusa, and no We don't bite...We can't.

"No... ," the medusa gave a soft smile, "they were a gift, special, I am his special one." he rubbed his forearms softly holding them from grabbing out at the shadow. "My master likes it though... but I haven't seen him. I hope he will come soon... he can tell me." he blinked at Tek. "Why can't you bite pretty? You can bite me... I'll let you." he offered his neck to the fiend.

Tek's tail flickered again splitting and then melding together, the shadow considered the medusa's words some as it spoke. It's master he decided likely wouldn't be coming to get it, even if Tek didn't actually know why he had met the Kip lady and had a feeling she wouldn't let the medusa get hurt or keep hurting others. Of course Tek didn't know any of this for sure and wasn't sure he wanted to be the one to try and convey it to the medusa in the cage.

Here, We will show you but you have to be nice and not grab at us... Tek reached out for Bity's hand lightly moving the hand slowly once he grabs it. We think your eyes aren't working so well.

Bity offered his hand, tensed and trying to behave... even if he was a bit confused. "Things are a little ... blurry... so maybe not so well." he didn't know just how bad his eyes had become. "You glow pretty..." he bit down and smiled.

Here, this is also why We don't sound like others. Tek pressed Bity's hand against his face where his mouth would be if he had one. And why We can't bite, Tek really was trying to be helpful. Maybe someone can fix your eyes - or you could get glasses...We saw someone with them. Tek fluffed happily, We do enjoy our glow.

His eyes bolted open with a blink at the lack of a mouth. "Why?" he didn't form that into a full thought since he was terribly disturbed by the situation. "who... would do that?!" he tried to press his face closer. "... you could... pretend?" his fingers explored a little farhter on Tek's face. " so... pretty..." he took his hand away reluctantly and sank two nails into his neck as a gift for his new friend.

Tek's eyes widened in alarm and drifted back watching Bity, We are not sure... the shadow tilted his head some studying the medusa. He knew that something had happened to him and the others...but who, what, and why were still a mystery.

Does that hurt? Tek drifted up toward Bity's cage. Because if it hurts - you shouldn't do that. Tek was pretty sure if something hurt you shouldn't do it...but he wasn't sure if Bity knew that.

"I don't mind hurting for you pretty." his eyes smiled. "If you get your mouth back ... i'll let you bite yes?" he coiled up a bit. "its warm in here.... want to warm up?" his hands pawed along the bottom of the cage like they had a mind of their own.

Tek tsked softly, drifting down the shadow patted at Bity's hands lightly. We will remember such a generous offer... Tek looked through the bars, it does look nice but, We won't warm up either. Sending a touch of thought toward his guardian Tek noted that Rhys was going to be coming out of his sleep soon.

We need to go soon...
the little shadow patted at Bity's hands some more half reassuring and half to keep the medusa from trying to grasp him too fully, we will come back and visit though.

"Don't leave!" it was more of just stating fact rather then a plea or demand. "You... come back?" the medusa didn't get a lot of a return visitors. He started to get more excited again even though he was getting burnt out from just so much new and fancy interactions then he was used to. "Cold pretty.... green pretty... I'd like that...." he laid on the ground back to the way he had first been when Tek found him, but his hands were still combing the floor with much enthusiasum.

Tek paused from his patting drifting up more until he stood upright. We do have to leave, but will come back... Tek's eyes flickered over the room and cage, it all looked very empty and boring to him, We will bring something for you next time as well... maybe he could find a way to keep Bity amused enough that he wouldn't claw himself, just be good in your time out until then. With another flick of his tail Tek leaned down and waved to the medusa before darting for the door, heading back to his nearby sleeping guardian.

Coloring with Monsters...

It had been a long day, Rhys usually slunk off at least once a week to skip school and hang out with Suzume. But there was some sort of standardized tests and she opted to make sure she was in class for them, so with no one to distract him Rhys had also stayed in class. His new shirts apparently were almost done and once again he was at the shop, and had decided a nap was in order ... it beat getting into the middle of whatever Thomas and Sarraqa were deciding.

Tek was hoping that Rhys would nap this time at the shop, because he had made sure he had a surprise for his new friend. Once his guardian was resting the little shadow dove into Rhys book bag and dragged out a box of crayons and a coloring book, clasping the two items to his chest Tek looked around the area shadily before dashing off to the side hall.

Having been to the room before Tek made his way back to where he had met with Bity last. Pausing in front of the door he phased through the door to look inside before drifting back out, it was the right room. Dropping the book to the floor he pushed it under the crack between the floor and door, and then the crayons.

Thud...

Frowning Tek looked to the box of crayons they were too thick to fit under the crack like the book. After a moment of thought he opened the book and rolled a crayon under the door - it fit! One after another he rolled the crayons under the door all sixteen of them, once all had been passed under the little fiend grinned and passed through the door himself feeling very pleased with himself for having figured that out. The empty crayon box was left discarded in the hall behind him.

/Bity! We have come back and brought something for you./

The medusa peaked out from under the blanket he was mostly under. It was something new and he was still enjoying it. "..." he wiggled closer as he heared the soft sounds of the crayons. "... Pretty?" he started to get amped up at the thought.

Tek piled the crayons up on top of the coloring book before carefully making his way toward the cage, he took extra time with each movement so as to not topple them over.

/Yes, we are still very pretty. And have brought things to make other pretty things - so you can make your own pretties./ Tek's mind voice was cheerful as he moved along amused and pleased with his craft idea. Once closer to the cage he paused and folded the book in half keeping the crayons cradled in it and phased through the bars to set it down he then went insubstantial remembering Bity's habit of grabbing.

/For you!/ Tek gestured to the book and crayons with a grandiose gesture.

Bity seemed to be trying to behave and curiously stuck his face next to the book and crayons. He sniffed at them and flicked his tounge. "For... me?" he licked one of the crayons. "What is it?" he picked up the crayon and kept licking it occasionally. "You came back!" he wiggled his tail excited, "I did not think I would seeyou again... so soon."

Tek nodded a little, /Rhys shirts are almost done, so we thought we should bring these before we aren't able to visit as much./ The little fiend babbled on as if his train of thought should make perfect sense to the Medusa.

After a moment Tek's attention was turned to the blanket, Bity's clothing tended to stick to the mind so the softness of the blanket stuck out in comparison. /You got a blanket! That's good...right?/

He listened to the shadow as most of it went in one ear and out the other, still being entertained by the taste of the crayon. "You... will still visit though?" he rolled the crayon in his palms, "Oh! yesssss Pretty! come see!" he snagged it with the tip of his tail and whipped it to the front of the cage, picking it up he pressed it close to Tek. "it is so sooooooft.... and warm. Maybe it will warm you up?"

Tek reached forward making his hand substantial enough to rub against the blanket, /oh it's very soft, it's good that it's warm...we are not sure it could warm us though./ Tek's tail swished splitting into two or three tentacles at a time before fusing back into one tail, the movement seemed to be subconcious.

Tek gestured toward the crayon, /We are not bothered by the cold, would you like to learn about the crayons more then their taste?/

Bity looked at the shadow. "Not for licking?" he offered the crayon to Tek intently focused on him. "What is it for?" his fingers wiggled hinting at other thoughts... which probably involved grabbing.

Instead of taking the crayon that Bity was holding Tek dropped down to the ground, first he gently pushed the crayons off the top of the coloring book before opening it. Once open he reached over and picked a crayon up, /they are for coming...bring yours down here./ Taking the crayon he started to color in a star on the current page that showed a cartoon spaceship with the night sky around it.

Bity got down on the level with Tek. He watched for a few seconds trying to follow what he was doing. Quickly he tryed to reach out and grap Tek, but with no luck. "What... are you doing pretty?" he flicked his tounge again in frustration. He coiled around and looked as his crayon, it was blue.

Tek glanced up at Bity as he continued to color he'd chosen a yellow crayon for the stars, /I'm coloring...it's so you can make your own pretties./ Reaching up Tek touched Bity's blue crayon lightly, /press it down on the paper and move your hand...you'll make your own pretties on the paper./

Remembering his last visit Tek kept an eye on Bity, he was pretty sure the Medusa couldn't hurt him but had seen before that Bity would hurt himself.

Bity put the crayon to the paper with a bit of reservation and distrust of the whole thing and moved it back and forth. Watching it he could see the color show up and he got excited, wiggling he colored faster and a mess. "Look pretty! BLUE!" he stopped only long enough to yell that and went back to scribbling over the whole page.

Tek let out a soft mental giggle watching Bity color, /there are many more colors too!/ He gestured over to the small pile of crayons next to the book. Looking toward the mess that Bity was making Tek decided he had made the right choice in not bringing one of his nicer coloring books...Bity wouldn't have taken care of them at all.

The medusa thought for a minute and put his blue crayon into his other hand for safe keeping then reached for a red one. "Did you make these?" he licked the crayon, "they all taste the same huh?" he colored with it over the blue and just as happy.

Tek shook his head a little, /no I didn't make them, but they were given to me - they come from a big place with many things for taking./ Nodding slightly the shadow tilted his head to watch what Bity was doing with the crayons, his understanding of how stores actually worked wasn't really all that clear yet.

/And yes I think they all taste the same...maybe we can get you something that is suppose to be eaten. I bet it would taste better./

"Oh..." he still wiggled. "They don't taste too bad... just different. Tangy?" he bolted upand dropped the crayons. Grabbing his blanket he layed it out. "Pretty here! You can lay on my banket... this blanket... and be warm." he snatched a couple of the other crayons and put them on it like a stange table setting.

Tek looked over to the blanket and considered telling Bity that he couldn't really get warm. After a moment of consideration he decided that it probably wouldn't do any good and drifted into the cage. /I can help with your coloring too!/ Even though Bity couldn't touch him unless he concentrated Tek was still cautious as he entered the cage.

Drifting closer to Bity Tek curled up on the blanket and turned toward the coloring book, /what sort of picture would you like to color - maybe there is one in the book./

Bity curled around Tek like a weird mote. "It has pictures?" he motioned to the book, "do you still not have a mouth today pretty?" he reached for his face, slowly for him. The medusa coiled slightly tighter, slightly closer around the shadow. "want to use the blue one?" he offered his very abused crayon to him.

Tek didn't concentrate on being solid and let the Medusa coil closer, drifting down he looked over the book. /Do you have trouble seeing the pictures?/ Turning the pages Tek looked through them attempting to find a basic design for the Medusa he knew that Bity didn't see overly well. /And still no mouth,/ glancing over Tek looked to the crayon, /how about this one here?/ the page opened to the image of a large ball with a stripe and star decorating it, taking the blue crayon gently Tek concentrated on holding it and started to color the stripe.

"No... not so well... still..." he looked a little sad for the first time but quickly went back to focusing on what Tek was up to. " A circle? ... a... ball!?" he looked to Tek for confermation.

The little fiend nodded quickly in agreement, /yes a ball!/ He pushed a couple of the crayons over to Bity, /here help me finish coloring it. Maybe I can find books that all have big pictures like this for you./ Tek wondered if there was anything that could be done for Bity...maybe he'd be less frustrated if he could see better.

Bity wiggled his tail in utter happiness and bit down on his mouthpiece with joy. He took his red crayon and stared an inch from the paper bairly as he focused on coloring. Then he stopped and looked at his hand. The blue crayon had left some smudge on his glove since he had been coloring so furiously. The medusa's look shot between confused and alarmed, back and forth. He tried to wipe it off on he skin and when that didn't work onto the paper he had colored on, which only made things worse. Panic was starting to set in as he looked around the room for a way to make it better.

Tek continued coloring for a while before noticing Bity's frantic movements, /what's wrong?/ Tilting his head Tek turned some to get a look at what Bity was doing. /Something is wrong with your glove?/ With how the Medusa was moving Tek wasn't able to get a look at the crayon mark on his glove.

Bity looked back at the feind like his hand had been cut. "My master... is going to be so upset.... " he held his hand out to show the blue mark, his eyes watered. "I... don't want to dissapoint him."

Tek looked to the mark on the Medusa's hand and then to the tears in Bity's eyes. Concentrating he reached up and patted Bity on the shoulder gently, /don't worry we can fix it./ Tek glanced around the room and then back to the glove when a thought hit him, the crayons he knew wouldn't stick too much they were 'washable' after all, after his experiment with the paints Cinder had made sure of that. /Oh! I know...remember when you licked the crayon? Lick your glove like that...and..../ Tek turned looking around the area, /if we can use a corner of your blanket we can get the color off, we can just keep the corner facing the ground and your master will never see!/

Bity didn't hesitate and quickly and aqwarly tried to chew on his finger like he could help get it off. He took the blanket then rubbed the corner and looked at his finger again, the blue gone. "PRETTY! LOOK!" he showed off the much cleaner glove, "... thank you." he bit down on his mask and looked intently at Tek like he was fighting with possible thanking options. He didn't seem to be bothered that there was blue on his blanket at all.

Tek was glad that Bity didn't start chewing on himself and turned his attention to the blanket, /now we can just turn it over./ Tek dropped down and turned the blanket over for Bity, /and no one will see!/ The little fiend was pleased with the outcome, /maybe your master would like a picture?/ Tek looked to the coloring book and crayons and then to Bity.

"You are very... clever pretty." he reached out and tried to pet him nicely as best he could, his hand shaped more clawlike then a flat nice shape. "Ooooh... maybe!" he smiled at the shadow then looked at him some more. "what about a picture for you instead pretty?"

Tek flickered his tail, it split once and then twice before melding together again and then splitting apart with another swish. /That could be fun, we've never had anyone make us a picture of our very own before./ Tek's mind voice conveyed his excitement, /We make many many things for others but no one else has made us anything in return!/ Dashing over next to Bity Tek dropped down toward the coloring book, /We'll need to find a very special picture./
[10/22/2010 1:48:28 AM] kipestshin: Bity smiled, Teks excitement was contageous and not something he was used to except from his master. "YES! Yes... for you! Pretty..." he watched the shadow's tail move and split and he paused, "did... your tail..." he sounded confused, "maybe it was my eyes... did your tail just split?" he strangly did not seem to reach for it.

Tek paused from looking through the book and looked over toward Bity, /It did! But it doesn't hurt.../ turning some Tek moved over more so Bity could see his tail and then deliberately split it and brought it back together. /I can pick things up too.../ splitting his tail again Tek snatched up three crayons one with each tentacle created.

Bity seemed very amazed. "Wow... I've never seen that before..." he moved his tail like it might magically split but of course didn't. "You could color so many pictures! or... just wow... you glow and have many tails... and color! You are very talented pretty!

Tek brought his tentacles down to make markings on the paper before setting the crayons aside, puffing up his little chest he looked pleased at the comment. /We are very talented!/

Dropping down to rest comfortably Tek then started looking through the coloring book, /We are different from you though.../ he knew he wasn't a Medusa but had a feeling that Bity might not understand that.
[10/22/2010 2:11:40 AM] kipestshin: "A little different... you are small and glow." he smiled. "and you are hard to touch." he offered out his hand thinking of touches. "Did you find a picture you liked? I will make it so blue.. or red... or BOTH!"

Considering a moment Tek decided that Bity's understanding of the differances were good enough. /Lets color this one,/ setting the book down he pressed it open to a picture of a little sailboat. The boat amused him and he was pretty sure it was simple enough of a design and big enough that Bity could see it. /You can use any colors that you want./ Tek looked over to his strange friend as he spoke.

"Any colors...." he wiggled and took the book softly. "I will make it the best picture for you!" he held the book to his chest while plotting how to color it like it was hiding a suprise. "Green crayon!" he pointed at it and held his hand out.

Tek giggled again at Bity's enthusiasm and then dove down to the green crayon picking it up and dutifully giving it to Bity. /Here!/ Holding the crayon out he dropped it into the Medusa's hand before moving back and giving him some more room.

Bity furiously scribbled turning the crayon into a smashed mess and held it back out to Tek. "Red!"

Tek's tails curled and flickered in amusement as he attempted to hold his mind giggles to himself. At Bity's prompting he snatched up the red and then passed it over. /This will be the very best picture ever!/

He took the crayon without saying anything and focused back on his picture. "Blue!" he spent a little less time with the red.

Dutifully Tek once again snatched up the demanded crayon handing it over with great haste, in his mind he imagined it was one of those shows where the doctor would yell for a surgical device and someone would hand it to him ... the main differance for them was they were using crayons.

Bity would start then stop then start again with the blue crayon, pausing only to think about what he was doing like it was very serious and to see if Tek was watching. After a bit of that he held the picture to his chest again and looked at the feind. "Close your... eyes?"

Tek stopped attempting to peek over at the picture as Bity stopped his coloring. Wiggling a little in curiousity and excitement he looked at the book held to the Medusa's chest. /We will.../ he really wanted to see the picture, closing all three of his eyes, his little

Bity held the picture up a half inch from the shadows face. "OPEN!" The picture is a green 'glowing' boat on red water with blue swirlys and squiggles on the boat and sail itself

As Bity spoke Tek opened his eyes, the picture was of course a jumbled mess of coloring but the little shadow let out a small mental cry of excitement. /We were right, this is the very best picture ever. Because it is for us./ Tek had never gotten a gift and now that one had been given to him he was very excited. Taking a closer look at the picture Tek ran his fingers over the swirls, /they are almost like mine!/

Bity then got really close the the shadows face and smiled. "I am glad you like it! It glows like you! For you!" His head darted back a second and he looked at his gloves and quickly ran over to his blanket to clean them.

Tek held the picture carefully looking it over, /We will find a very special place to keep it./ He did have his own little spot in the room he shared with Rhys and Sarraqa he decided he'd put his new picture up on the wall there. /If you like, I can leave the picture making things with you so you can make more, Bity./ Tek turned to look over at his friend settling again on the blankets.

Bity wiggled in happiness. "You will... come back... for more pictures?" he spoke it more as a hopeful fact. "I will make you more pretty..."

Tek nodded slightly, /We will come back when we can, you will be able to keep practicing!/ Tek darted down around the crayons as if to emphasize. /We should be able to visit soon...Rhys comes to the shop often!/ The fiend was excited over having a friend of his very own, he knew the people that Rhys knew but he didn't have a friend all of his own ... until now.

Bity smiled. "Rhys? .. your master?" he wiggles "I will make you many many color pictures! Come back soon?" he reached to hold Tek there without sucess.

Tek considered the expression, he had considered what Rhys was to him before. After a moment he decided that Bity would probably prefer to call Rhys his master anyways so he didn't elaborate on it. /We will come back soon - to see your lovely pictures! We will make you one special in return./ Tek was particuarly proud of that last bit, dropping down he phased through the bars leaving the cage. /It was nice seeing you again Bity, enjoy your pictures!/

Bity pressed against the front of his cage as Tek faded away from him. He was really enjoying their playtime. The medusa picked up the crayons carefully and hid them in a corner of the cage under the book. They were not hidden from view just more mentally hidden for saftey. He grabbed his blamket and curled up with it, smiling at the blue and green spot he kept touching it.

Halloween Event 2010

Cinderfae
Rhys frowned looking at the swamp he’d wanted to come by himself mostly because he felt that arriving on his motorcycle would be a much better entrance then arriving in Merci’s van … especially with Dio in his current costume. Rhys looked sharp tonight; he was wearing a full suit, a fancy pair of cuff links, and a new expensive pair of shoes. Rhys costume was a secret agent, in addition to the classy look he was toting a cigarette case that just carried a money clip with some spare cash instead of actual smokes and a small concealed handgun which much to Cinder’s amusement was fake, originally she was just going to give him one of the smaller guns in the house arsenal but after a few words with Sarraqa they had instead went about getting him a fake one. He’d been relieved for the most part, despite his rather rocky past and his mother’s interest in arming him Rhys had never been all that interested in firearms. Stretching slightly he finally hung his helmet up on the handle of the bike and started toward the strange haunted house.

Tek dropped down from the shadow of Rhys wing, his eyes wide as he looked ahead toward the swamp, the child had decided on a simple costume at first he hadn’t really seen the need for a costume at all but in the end a small green cape and mask of the same color had been added to his ensemble and he’d come as a super hero. What the name of the hero was Tek wasn’t so sure but he was enjoying the swish of his cape.

Pausing a moment Rhys looked up at the place and then from side to side at the door, there were ambient sounds from the house but he couldn’t actually see anyone. Rhys wings flattened against his shoulders, “I suppose we just go in.” Tek dashed up to the door, yes we do! The fiend had been excited to get to see others of his kind and experience this thing haunted house thing. Tek pushed the door open, Rhys not wanting to lose sight of his Tek and alternatively not wanting to give Tek time alone to get into trouble darted up the stairs after him. As the two rushed inside the door snapped shut behind them.

Rhys froze wincing as the lighting had changed; a strobe light flickered throughout the room, looking over he saw Tek moving in stop motion as he the fiend turned toward him looking generally as confused as he was. Tek had never experience a strobe light and Rhys had only briefly muttering slightly Rhys looked over the room and started forward. The walls were a tile design, pausing Rhys frowned as he looked at them, they were a blend of yellow, green, and pink fluorescent colors the patterning he knew well though they were patterned like the walls at the Lighthouse, the institute he had been created in. Even in colors that the tiles originally would have never been put in Rhys started to feel uneasy just noting them. From where he was at it looked as if the room was pretty small, “hello?” his voice was soft something about the place brought him on the side of caution. Tek wasn’t really paying attention to the walls but had paused and was splitting his tail into three parts and then melding them back into one watching them curiously under the strobe. Rhys unease drew Tek’s attention from his current interest and the fiend darted toward his guardian, don’t worry….I’ll protect you! I’m a hero. Glancing over toward Tek Rhys grinned slightly despite himself. Walking slowly along the wall he realized that what appeared to be solid wall was actually an opening. “Looks like we have to find our way through…” Not wanting to waste time Rhys stepped into the opening finding him in a hall of the tiled walls looking from one end to the other they appeared to go on forever, “it’s a maze – I think.”

Oh a maze…I am good at those!
Tek’s experience with mazes of course extended to figuring on the kiddie mazes on the back of menus. To Tek being able to do those little kiddie mazes made him an expert, puffing his chest up a bit Tek started down the hall ready to prove his abilities. Before the little fiend got too far the image of a person with the same patterning on them as the walls came out from the wall and started to walk toward the two, the movement was fractured and strange under the strobe. One moment the form was at the end of the hall and the next it was a few feet closer. Rhys couldn’t help it he backed up in startle ment, part of his brain wished Cinder had just given him a real gun and the other part reasoned that he wasn’t actually in any real danger so it was better that he didn’t have one. Even with the voice of reason going Rhys didn’t relax, “lets go down the other way…now.” Turning quickly Rhys started down the hall away from the human form that was moving toward him and Tek, Tek actually followed along with his guardian worried over Rhys’ sense of dread. Rhys was actually hurrying down the hall when another figure came out of the wall at the other end and started toward the two; the boy stopped in his tracks and looked between the two advancing figures. “It’s got to be someone…dressed up or something, glancing over to Tek – let’s turn the table on them.”

Oh! We can capture them!
Tek’s tail swished in excitement as he looked toward the closest figure to them. Waiting for the strobe to switch off, Rhys darted toward the closest figure reaching out and grabbing it.

Reyna Crelos
Mystic phased out of Rhys' arms with a bemused chuckle. 'Hah. Looks like you caught me,' the elder shadow declared, voice warm with laughter. He arched a brow as he took in Tek's appearence. It seemed another of his brethren had awakened by the looks of it, and needless to say he was... interesting.

'Here,' he told Rhys as he snatched up one of his hands and placed a small piece of candy to his palm. 'You have to find Hawk and my guardian, Reyna, to get the other two pieces. There's a prize if you get all three.'

Rhys was almost too shocked to say anything, looking down a the candy in his hand he murmured a thank you. He relaxed greatly, it was a game - even with all the strangeness in the end it wasn't real, Rhys had much too much of realness in his life and relaxed greatly he could do this and have fun. There were similar festivals in other parts of the galaxy but this was the first one he'd ever gotten to actually take part in. Tek waved manically to Mystic, his little tail flickering and splitting into multiples before rejoining and splitting at random, even though Mystic hadn't been there long it was a new fiend which excited the child greatly.

Tek hovered a little higher to get a look at what Rhys had in his hand, Oh! Let me hold it let me!

"You don't even have any pockets...clothing by the way comes with that." Despite his argument Rhys gave the candy to Tek to hold onto, "so it's a game - lets go get the other two pieces, I bet the other wall things are Reyna and Hawk." Rhys grinned slightly looking over at Tek, "we so got this."

Turning Rhys looked back the way they'd come only to find the other humanoid figure that had been moving toward them wasn't there anymore, "hrm, they must have moved...lets see if we can get farther along in the maze."

Moving along the wall Rhys soon found another opening leading deeper within the room and maze, "I think this is the right way..." As the two turned the corner one of the wall creatures jumped out toward them, crying out in surprise Rhys almost forgot to grab the figure but remember Mystic from before he reached and grabbed a hold; Tek now getting the idea of things attempted to grab a hold as well.

Reyna Crelos
"Heeey~!" Reyna teased with bright laughter. "Be gentle boys! I'm a lady!" she insisted. Ghostly laughter seemed to echo her own.

Not but a moment later Mystic phased into view, and he grabbed her close possessively. 'You heard the lady,' he replied with a hint of sarcasm.

She elbowed him playfully before reaching out to drop a piece of candy into Tek's eagerly waiting hands. "Here ya go, doll," she said with a fanged grin, "One piece to go, right?"

The demoness laughed again and then took off at a run with a speed far faster than that of a human. They would be hard pressed to keep up with her.

Mystic simply disappeared entirely after his guardian had squirmed free of his arms.

Rhys blushed dropping his hands immediately as Reyna spoke, Tek however hovered closer snatching the candy up and securing it in a little pocket he had sewn into his wrap. The demoness' speed looked even more impressive under the strobe light, one moment she was there and the next down the hall and then gone.

"So second piece, that means just one more..." as he spoke Rhys was already looking for the opening to more hallways hidden within the disorienting light display and wall coloring. "I'm guessing there will also be a door out of this room at some point..."

Tek darted to and fro happily he was very pleased over having yet another piece of candy. Pausing the fiend darted ahead into one of the hidden halls of the maze, We found it! We found it! Tek's voice echoed happily through Rhys' mind, turning Rhys had a moment of panic as he thought he'd lost the child; after a bit of stumbling he was able to find the opening and start down the new hall. The two walked for sometime before coming to a dead end..."Just our luck,"

Don't worry I'll find the next way - I'm the master! Tek darted back the way they'd come, Rhys turned hurrying along after him, the shadow was hard to keep track of with the strobe going and his glowing markings that tended to blend in with the walls.

Another path was found, and then another, and then a dead end but down each and after getting turned around, straightened out and then turned around again they didn't see anything that could be another.

Muttering Rhys took a turn and found yet another hall starting down it, as they started down he saw one of the forms come out from the wall. Glancing over to Tek he pointed ahead and without bothering with words the two ran up in an attempt to catch the wall creature.

Cinderfae
The two wrapped their arms around the form only to have it disappear when they touched it. Muttering Rhys stopped and stared at the spot that the image had been, "well that makes it more...annoying to find the last."

Tek turned in the spot splitting his tail tentacles out and flailing them some his little cape swishing as he does, nope nothing here...

Rhys eyed the shadow and then the tentacles a moment, "that's a bit disturbing you know..."

We are sure your just jealous!

Rhys snorted before turning and taking a step back one of the wall forms was directly behind him! Remembering what they were doing at the last moment he grabbed at it, hoping to get it before it could get away.

Reyna Crelos
Being what he was, the Seer had already foreseen how it was Tek and Rhys were to find him. He had attempted in every way imagineable to find some other way to be found other than pounced, but it was simply not to be. Sometimes he really hated Fate. She was cruel and unusal.

Arms wrapped around him, and he sighed heavily with a look of vauge bemusement upon his face that was tinged with more than a little annoyance.

'Here is your prize,' Hawk informed them both as he quite happily handed over the last piece of candy to Tek so that he could escape the strange child's grasp. 'You are now free to leave the house, or explore another room,' he told them simply.

He called a rune forth and all the previous horrors and distractions that floated about ceased. It was nothing but a quiet, albeit old, house they were now standing in. Two doors appeared behind him, and an impish look upon the Seer's face spoke of mischief.

'I'm not telling you which is the correct door, though. You have to guess,' he told them briskly before he promptly disappeared. Served them right for pouncing him!

Cinderfae
Tek clung to the last candy greedily not really listening to the Seer once it had been produced. Looking up Tek then noticed the change in the room and blinked his three eyes with a touch of confusion.

"Alright...so we have two doors which way should we go? Might be fun to continue on...I wonder what the rest of the rooms look like." Frowning Rhys turned and looked from one door to the other, "what do you think?"

We should eat the candy!

Smirking Rhys looked over to Tek, "not really the sort of feedback I was looking for - it's a fifty fifty chance lets go ... left." Without waiting for more advice from Tek Rhys turned and headed to the door.

Cinderfae
Rhys grumbled and took a door at random, what was it with people and not giving directions. As he stepped through the door he found himself outside the house again, "seems we picked the wrong door to go on..." frowning a moment he looked up at the house and then to Tek, "should we just go back inside or call it a night?" Part of him was unsure after all the strangeness they had encountered while the rest of him wanted to keep going...they hadn't even really seen anyone tonight as it was and those giving out candy hadn't really stopped to talk. Frowning slightly Rhys looked over toward where his bike was parked, he noted that Merci had arrived which meant his stepmother was inside the house. "...lets go back in."

Tek shrugged slightly his mind voice filled with amusement, We are amused that you asked and then answered yourself.

"Hrm, well I am the driver so I guess it's my choice." Reaching up Rhys opened the door stepping back into the house.

Pausing Rhys looked over the living room, it appeared to have sit for sometime a low fire burned in the fireplace and a rocking chair in front of the fireplace creaked eerily as it rocked back and forth of it's on volition.

We wonder if perhaps someone just left! The child darted off into the room to inspect the chair.

"I just hope it isn't that damn hand..." Rhys stepped more into the area looking around and trying to get his bearing. And that's when the whispers started, from behind him Rhys heard someone call his name softly, starting slightly in surprised he turned and took a step only to walk directly into one of the large cobwebs hanging about the room. Not expecting the wispy bits to be there Rhys cried out and took several steps back trying to brush the cobweb from his face. Shaking his hair out he stood a moment a bit wide eyed.

The sound of giggling from Tek snapped Rhys out of it, the boy sighed glancing over at the very amused looking fiend, you scream like a girl.

The sensation of light hands reaching out and grasping his hit Rhys next and he forced himself to stay composed shuddering slightly at the cold feeling it gave him, "lets just find the door." The room was dark except for the small light from the fireplace so searching for said door was a bit more work then he thought it would be, turning Rhys finally moved off and found a spot on the wall with a door knob, but the actual outline of the door wasn't obvious, "I think it's here -"

Tek darted over to his guardian and wrapped around Rhys shoulders, Rhys jumped slightly the whispering sounds of the room and the clinging hands had left him more then a touch on edge. "Did you really have to do that?" Rhys glanced over speaking softly to Tek as he pulled on the knob opening the mostly hidden door.

Cinderfae
Pushing the door open Rhys and Tek moved ahead, the next room held a small table with two mannequins sitting at it. Rhys paused for a long moment, the two mannequins had been dressed up one as a well to do lady and the other as a gentleman in a fancy suit, Rhys noted that the man's suit looked very close in appearance to his own. A tea setting was placed on the table, moving closer Rhys looked over the setting nothing had been poured into the cups from the small teapot. "Doesn't look all that scary..."

Tek's mind voice came to Rhys quietly as if the fiend was nervous, the tone of Tek's 'voice' put Rhys on edge the little fiend didn't scare very often. We think you should look at their eyes.

Rhys realized he hadn't looked at the mannequins eyes he'd seen the joints on the hands and realized what they were and didn't bother really looking at their faces. At Tek's suggestion Rhys found that he really didn't want to look up and see their eyes, sucking in a breath he braced himself and looked up. Despite having readied himself Rhys took an automatic step back, the mannequins had human eyes. The eyes moved and followed Rhys movements, then the face of the female shifted and she bared her teeth as she spoke, "won't you have a cup of tea?" Blood glinted on her teeth as she spoke, Rhys started moving back his eyes widening as he saw that the mannequins were getting up. Both moved toward him and Tek quickly their frightening real eyes and blood covered teeth flashing in the light. "Have a cup of tea..." The female mannequin grabbed him and pushed him back toward the wall, Tek darted over attempting to put himself between the thing and his bonded. As Rhys hit the wall instead of coming in contact with a hard surface he fell through it and with him Tek, falling back he felt with a soft thud on his backside. The mannequins didn't follow and Rhys took a few moments to take in deep breaths letting his heart slow.

Glancing around he sucked in a breath of cool air and realized they'd been sent back to the front porch, standing up a bit shakily he looked to the door and reconsidered opening it again. Perhaps leaving was the best idea, but a stubborn part of him dug it's heels in ... he wouldn't be beaten by a doll. "We aren't done yet." Rhys glanced over to Tek.

Tek's tail flickered to and fro splitting and re-merging into one over and over, glancing up the fiend adjusted his super hero cape and mask and nodded waiting for Rhys to open the door.

Steeling himself Rhys pushed the door open and stepped inside again, they found themselves in the living room that they'd originally come in through. The room had changed, blood splatter reflected in the light and body parts lay about in various positions. Rhys stayed very still his first thoughts being that the mannequin creatures had gotten a hold of someone and tore them apart. Gulping down his rising terror Rhys stepped forward, Tek instead of darting ahead as he had been before clung to Rhys side his eyes opened wide.

"It's the mannequins..." Rhys voice held a note of confusion, looking down he could see that the arms and legs that were thrown about were jointed and the limbs were not bleeding they just had blood or rather blood colored liquid thrown on them.

This is getting weirder...

Rhys muttered slightly glancing to Tek, "yeah..." pausing he noticed that one of the arms from the mannequin was laying on the floor intact. Reaching down he picked up the thick plastic limb hefting it slightly. Nodding slightly Rhys rested the arm on his shoulder, it would make a good club if he ended up needing one later on, and then the sound of movement behind the two drew their attention. Rhys spun his hand tight on his makeshift weapon and his eyes wide looking toward the noise.

Cinderfae
Part of the male mannequin had pulled it's torso up from the floor and was pulling itself along by the arm still connected to it's body. "Stars and stones," Rhys muttered and stepped forward swinging at the creature with the arm of it's mate.

Thwack! The arm hit the creature solidly in the head knocking the creepy head with human eyes and blood covered teeth off it's body, sending it rolling across the floor. At the same time that Rhys hit the mannequin he stepped in a pool of the blood like substance and slipped falling on his back, hitting the ground he closed his eyes blinking rapidly and then stopped he was laying on his back on the front porch again.

We believe that we are not wanted within. Tek hovered nearby watching the front door with narrowed eyes.

Pulling himself up Rhys realized that he still held the arm, "we are so not finished...disembodied hands and attacking doll things." Frowning the boy just reached forward and opened the door stepping back inside.

Once again the living room area was different, it was brighter now a few small candles were scattered through the room. The blood and fake body parts were gone, except of course for the hand that Rhys carried. For the moment the whispers weren't heard either instead the sound that was carrying through the room was the tick tock of a large grandfather clock. The clock stood across from the front door and was very large reaching almost to the ceiling, the lights of the room seemed to focus attention on it.

Tkkk Tockk...Tik...

Rhys frowned and moved forward, the floor was slanting now as well pushing them toward the clock as well, "I get the idea..." muttering he stopped and looked at the device the frown not leaving his face. "What about it ..." Rhys didn't finish his thought looking at the clock he realized that it wasn't actually moving it was just making noise. The front of the large clock then popped open slightly like a door opening invitingly.

Rhys tensed up looking at the now cracked open front door of the clock, "we take a look then..." glancing over to Tek he then looked at the door.

Tek paused as well before forcing himself to dart forward and pull the mechanism open, after all he didn't fear much when it came to mechanics.

'... curiosity will get the space creature eaten,' Hawk murmured as he slipped through the open door way and past the two that were trying to head in. For a change he did not look covered in blood, but was soaking wet it seemed. 'Aren't you two done yet?' he asked, head tilting to the side before he shook his head as if not wanting to know the answer.

Dropping a blue candy on top of Tek's head, he began to float to the other side of the room and towards another door that appeared. 'Find Mystic and his bonded, Reyna and you'll have your last prize from the store - though what happens after that? Well, we most certainly do not like greedy guts taking ALL of our candy ...'

User Image

Cinderfae
Rhys frowned looking after Hawk, he certainly hadn't been trying to be greedy and that others might think that had never crossed his mind. He didn't understand the holiday but had been attempting to enjoy what there was to offer. He'd had a pretty good impression of Hawk from before, "something seems off with him..." glancing over Rhys looked toward Tek, "though I really don't know him well, maybe he's only nice if he's getting something from you." Resting the arm over his shoulder like a club Rhys walked through the area left open inside the clock, "there are lots of people like that." Rhys would have considered just leaving at this point if he could have just left, but a part of his mind did chide that he was likely taking things too personally and it would be childish.

Tek hadn't really been paying attention, he'd been hoarding the candy. For what he wasn't sure, the wrappers were nice and maybe he could take a piece to Bity, the shadow was mildly concerned about the size of the candy it was small but he suspected it might be too thick to slide under Bity's door. Taking his mind off of the warped Medusa he blinked looking up to Rhys, do you think this could be slid under a door? Tek held up the newest bit of candy.

Wrinkling his brow Rhys watched Tek a moment and sighed, "I have no idea...why would you even ask such a thing?" Pausing Rhys looked over the new area, it was dark and cobwebby but appeared to be pretty quiet, the whispering voices moved around him and he looked up the stairs, a soft light of some sort came from down the stairs and he could hear the sound of running water. The house hadn't really hit on any of his personal demons, the boy had learned to sit on them when he was waking; the worst usually came to haunt him in his sleep. "Up it is then..." moving up the stairs Rhys could see the door at the top was cracked open the bit of light was coming from within, and now the sound of running water had been replaced by the sounds of movement in water, from what they could see through the crack it appeared to be a bathroom.

Rhys paused outside the door standing for a long moment, remembering the dolls he hefted the plastic arm and pushed the door open. Staring within the room his already pale features lost even more color and he stared at the bath. Two little boys sat in the bath, blood covered them as if they had been cut and wounded their eyes were vacant and empty and they turned as the door opened, "Mommy? ...have you seen our Mommy...." Rhys stepped forward uneasily frowning and looking at the bath, the children themselves in bloody bathwater would have been bothersome enough but Rhys recognized them, his subconscious had decided he deserved his own bout of personal terror. The two little boys were himself and Max, "Mommy, where is our Mommy?" they stared at him with vacant dead eyes. Max - Cinder didn't even know he'd existed, the one to the left he knew would have been Max with his deformed face and blue eyes. "Rhys?" The deformed Max child looked at him directly and held it's hands up blood covering them, "your why Mommy doesn't know me." Rhys finally jerked back as if hit physically as the apparitions accusation hit true, his hands he realized felt warm, sticky... glancing down he saw that his hands were now bloody. Seeing the blood on his hands Rhys started to rapidly back up his eyes widening in panic between his hands and the children in the bath.

Tek hadn't seen his bonded react in such a fashion to anything they had seen so far, after all the bit of fright had been exciting but now the fiend grew worried and darted over after Rhys, Rhys! Stop! Rhys, the stairs! Rhys either couldn't hear Tek or wasn't listening, moving backward he hit the stairs moving backwards and started to fall.

Cinderfae
Instead of just toppling over and hitting each step on the way down the stairs flattened out and turned into a slide pushing the boy down under his own momentum.

Thwump!

Groaning slightly Rhys turned over and pushed himself up, still breathing somewhat heavily he looked up the slide the stairs had made. In his panic he hadn't noticed the the 'children' that looked so much like himself and his brother had joints like the mannequins. Still not fully on his feet Rhys pushed himself back away from the stairs.

Rhys? Rhys? Are you alright? Tek's voice sounded concerned as the shadow drifted closer to his bonded. His little tail swishing in agitation, Rhys had freaked out badly ... the haunted house was turning from something fun into something very much unfun and Tek didn't like how Rhys was responding to it. The little shadow's tail flickered back and forth in agitation.

Realizing that he was still in the house and that Tek was sounding particularly worried Rhys let a slow breath in and out. Still a bit shaky Rhys stood up and looked around the small room, the door that he'd come through with Tek through the clock was now gone. Another archway had appeared in the small room, "this way..."

If Tek had a mouth it would have been frowning in a disapproving manner.

Rhys moved into the new room, the area was softly lit and dolls lined the walls. Tightening his hands around the plastic mannequin arm he looked them over nervously and at the same time realized that he had not dropped the arm. Worried over his guardian's actions Tek moved up beside Rhys and clung to his side, the shadow really wasn't much of a clinger but right now he was making an exception. A soft creaking sound was heard as they continued through the surprisingly quiet room.

Creeeeeeeeaaaaaaaakkkkk...

"What is that?" Rhys murmured to no one in particular, glancing back he jerked back a few steps more quickly, the dolls heads were turning and following their movements. His eyes widened some as the dolls started moving standing up on their little shelves, dark soulless eyes watching him and Tek.

"Stars and Stones..." he murmured and then yelped slightly as he backed up into something or something.

Cinderfae
Muttering Rhys glanced behind him, he'd cried out after just bumping into another door. Tek brought his hand up in front of his face as if he was covering a giggle.

"Not funny at all,"
Rhys muttered darkly, his nerves were beginning to fray in a very bad way, he wanted out of the house and perhaps he'd smoke one of the cigarettes he was holding for Ume. He didn't really smoke but something about the situation almost demanded it.

Tek continued his giggling the little shadow was moving backward as he did not looking to where his path was taking him, you sound like she when you do that. Tek sat under one of the shelves of dolls and a larger doll dressed all up in pink and frills lunged from the shelf onto the shadow. Tek was solid enough at the moment that the doll actually hit him, Eeeeeeeeeiiiii! Startled the shadow phased from solidarity and the doll fell to the floor.

"Now who sounds like a girl?"

We are not bothered by being she or he.

"Yeah, we should discuss how strange that is sometime...when toys aren't trying to get violent with us." The doll was crawling toward the two, narrowing his eyes Rhys brought the arm up and swung it at the doll putting the toy further away. "It's just a doll..." muttering Rhys turned back tot he door he'd bumped into earlier, "but best not take a chance and stick around too long," reaching out he pushed the door open.

Reyna Crelos
Mystic phased into view just before where Tek and Rhys stood. 'Gender,' he spoke up, 'Has a funny way of being utterly meaningless when you lack both a true form and are largely incorporeal the vast majority of the time.'

He handed the duo a second piece of candy and disappeared without another word.

To say that Athan was displeased at what was going on was a vast understatement. He at first had simply been concerned by the silence he had found coming from Hawk. Having such quiet within his own mind after so long a time of constant billowing emotion and thoughts seemed a godsend. He worried, but simply assumed that the Fiend was plotting something for him. That was usually the only trouble he ever got himself into, or so it seemed.

His concern increased ten fold when a thrill of unadulterated panic and fear shot through from seemingly out of nowhere. It had felt a bit like being stabbed in the chest, and it had knocked the air from his lungs. He had doubled over, caught up in it like some sort of strange tidal wave. He could only wait for it to subside. It eased, but only somewhat, and he found himself kneeling on the floor of his study gasping for breath.

Hawk's mind still seemed somewhat closed off, but a vision of a house near the swamp hit him with almost as much force as the sudden swell of emotion that emanated from his link to the Fiend.

Once he had sorted through the strange tangle of emotion and fractured thoughts of equally odd, and otherwise unnerving, haunted houses he stormed his way upstairs with a flurry of darkness surrounding him. The shadows that poisoned his soul fed upon his anger, and it was always then when he was at his angriest, that the gloom and caliginosity that enveloped him was most apparent.

It took little time for him to cast a spell to take him to Reyna's swamp. He arrived just outside of it lest he accidentally ruined the wards that were placed upon her home to hide her from the prying eyes of those that hunted her. If anything, that in itself was a small saving grace. While not impossible, it was highly unlikely that anyone else would have detected the magic involved in making the little house of horrors the Seer had had a hand in concocting.

He stalked through the murky bog of the swamp and was thankful that just a touch of his earth element remained with him so that he was not forced to trudge through the mud and sludge. He picked his way through the swamp and called up stones to walk across with runes that looked almost like lightening bugs swarming about.

"Hawk?" he called out as he stood before the small house. The term 'house' hardly seemed fitting. It was more of a hastily built shanty. The magic that encompassed the building was blatant, and somehow it seemed strangely familiar. It was an old magic.

He reached the front door and stepped into the house. It shifted wildly as he crossed the threshold. He could feel its magic struggling against his very presence. One illusion after another presented itself as he strode through the house. He calmly surpassed and walked through the unusual creatures and beasts that had tormented his guardians as he followed his bond to Hawk to try and locate the Shadow.

It wasn't until he reached one curiously blank hallway that he even really bothered to take note of the apparitions that surrounded him. It was easy to ignore the fears created within another person's mind, but it was another thing entirely to watch yourself be killed repeatedly in gruesome, horrifying detail.

"Hawk?" he called again as he opened a door and found himself within a forest glade that he was quite certain no longer existed on his home world. He drew in a startled breath as a ghostly figure, whom appeared to at least mostly be Hawk came into view.

He reached out towards him and yelled for him, but the being seemed to not take notice of him at all. He ran after him and stopped as the creature turned on its heel to face him suddenly. He knew at that moment that it was definitely not Hawk but simply another apparition of the house's creating.

Athan knew that without a doubt because the creature held out its stone to him in quaking hands that were covered in what he assumed to be its own blood. He sucked in a steadying breath and closed his eyes, willing himself to not see that. He knew it to not be possible. Shadows did not... could not..

Eyes still tightly shut he cast a spell blindly. He had no desire to see twisted versions of his own nightmares. The house rumbled and shook; one by one the rooms that had been created disappeared. He sucked in a steadying breath and opened his eyes to find himself alone in a single room house.

With a scowl firmly upon his face he stalked towards the door and stepped back out into the swamp.

azuredreams
Hawk waited - waited as only one with his gifts could do. His eyes were shut, his mask carefully pulled down over his face as sat on the front porch of the house.

He was done with it's magic, his Sight keeping careful watch on those within and their wanderings. When it was his time to see them, to give them a piece of what was necessary to escape, he would appear.

Besides, Athan would be exiting the house any moment and - there. The door opened and the man stalked out, darkness around him more than usual.

It made him pause for a moment, as if he was not sure if he was truly ready to face whatever was about to come.

Except that after tonight, after pushing through the horrors the house offered, he did not care. Picking himself up, he turned to face him. There were no words he could offer, only silence.

Whatever trouble he got into, he accepted at this point.

Reyna Crelos
There the Shadow stood, and if not for the mask obscuring his view so that he were could be sure, he was almost certain that the air about Hawk was expectant. Athan scowled and remained silent for a long moment. "I said," he gritted out between clenched teeth, "No. Halloween. Party."

He fell quiet again briefly, arms folded across his chest with a look of distaste clearly written across his face. "I am very... disappointed," he went on. He gave pause for a moment as he stepped forward and happened to glance down just in time to see a fading crest and corresponding runes burn itself out against the worn wood of the porch.

A puzzled look overtook his scowl, but only for a second. "You did not cast this by yourself," he stated, "Dare I even ask whom helped with this mess."

azuredreams
Some part of him thought to argue, to point out that it was not a party inside - but a veritable house of trickery and deceit. Some of it was fun and games, like a normal haunted house would be, but for others it was not.

He was certain that Mystic was trapped somewhere between the past, the present, and what would be.

So instead of arguing that it was a Halloween party, he settled for a quietly murmured, 'I know.'

The expression in his eyes, the haunted look, was hidden by the shadows of the mask on his face. Even his tail barely twitched back and forth, as if he was making a conscious effort to not reveal how he felt. 'I would suspect that disappointed would be a bit of an understatement.

'... and Mystic assisted me. The Dreamwalker wished to appease his soul-bonded with a Halloween treat.'
