By the time I got her message I was sprinting up the hall in a pair of jeans and...nothing else. No need for much else, the halls were nice and airy. I made it to the room and walked in. "Heeeeeey," I flashed a smile toward Kimi, Tess, and old blue-hair and sat down on the bed. I turned to see that I had my butt perched on a luggage case with the little elf-like girl squatted beside the bed. "Whatsup new-girl?" I said, pushing the luggage bag out from beneath me. I layed down and closed my eyes, mocking Tess.

"Don't eat too fast, you'll get sick. Plus, that donut's been in there for at least a week now," warning Gabe. I ignored Demetri's childish antics and pushed open a few more windows around the room to let the warm air roll in. The cold was my worst enemy. While yanking on a baggy hoodie, I turned on the tea kettle; coffee was much needed. I glanced over my shoulder to look at Demetri for a second reminding myself that we still needed to talk about...well everything I guess. This was the last thing I wanted to deal with at the time, it'd only mess me up later at the gig.

Kimi slipped a card out of her back pocket and a pen off the table and approached Demy. "Hey, Sign this." She tossed the items on to the boy's chest. She sat down on the bed beside him and tilted her face to look at his closed eyes. She put a cold hand on his belly and pressed down, but not hard enough to hurt. "Wake up, We've got business to discuss." She said softly. Even though she had known Demy for a long time she still didn’t accept his laziness, he would eventually buck up.

Gab stuffed the rest of the donut into his mouth and swallowed hard. “So’s your face…” Was his only comment and when went back to raiding the fridge. His mooching hands touched everything eventually coming to rest on a container of what looked like fried meat and mashed potatoes. He took it out and sat down, his back against the fridge door. He eat the messy cold food with his hands making a lot of noise. He was use to his lady friends giving him dinner, and he had been at Kimi’s for the last two days so he had not eaten anything.

Sharply, I pushed Gab aside so that I blocked his way to the fridge. "I'm cutting you off if you're gonna talk to me like that. I don't care if you starve yourself. Maybe then, you'll consider eating an apple. God forbid you touch something remotely healthy. " I moved my hand upwards, supporting itself on my waist, and reached the other behind myself, closing the fridge. Stepping back, I sat down on top of the mini cooler so that Gab couldn't continue to be his freeloading self for the time being.

Gab rolled his eyes and finished what was in the big container before licking his fingers off. "God forbid! You know I'm allergic to that stuff!" The boy shuttered and stood to put his container in the sink. "Sorry if I offended you Lady Tess." H bowed dramatically and went to plop down on Demmy where he lay on the bd. His boney butt crushed the man's lap and he wiggled around. "God! I hope that's a roll of quarters Dummy!" He yelled laughing. He tickled the boy’s bare torso playing the role of prankster.

I moaned and rolled over, sending the boy flipping off of me. I stuffed my face in the mattress. "Five more minutes," I growled, snickering a little to myself. I could feel the girl beside the bed watching me.

"It's getting crowded, I...I should go," I feigned a smile and stood up to leave. I made my way through the troupe of teenagers and reached out for the doorknob. "Yikes," I yelped picking up my foot. I shard of glass had cleaved itself to the skin of my ankle. I bit my lip a little to hide the pain of the vexation that was ripping through me. "Eh..." I mumbled a little, too low for anyone to hear. I put down my foot so that only my toes touched the floor and hobbled out, stumbling a little before making it to the door.

"Dem... wake up..." She said sternly and slipped her hand behind his neck pulling him up. Her hand slipped down to wrap around his chest and she placed the pen in his hands. "I need you to sign the card for your mother's birthday gift." She instructed in a calm but authoritative manner. "I've got to mail it today so you've got to do this." Kimi's eyes drifted the Gab. He was sprawled out on the floor where he had been tossed.

"Hey! New girl!!!" Gab called scrambling up to run after the new girl. "You kay?" He could see she was limping. He looked back at Tess then the new girl. "You can stay, I don't want you to feel like We kicked you out." He caught up with the girl and put his arm around her shoulders in a friendly manner.

"What'd you get?" I glanced up at her, taking the card and pen to scribble out my signature. It was white with a cheesy rainbow on the front and something scrawled in cursive about the journey of life or something. I yawned and tossed it back over to her. "Don't scare the new girl, Gab. Already done," I snickered, thinking back to before when she'd walked in on Tess and I, obviously scarring her for life.

"I'm...uh...fine," I looked down at my feet while his brawny arm balanced on my shoulder. "You didn't kick...er...I just thought that since you guys seemed really busy with your...thing...that maybe I should step out and let you talk." My last few words flowed out more easily than the others, but still I remained at eye contact with the one foot I had rested on the ground and the other which was arched with support from my toes.

"A few photos from our last gig, some chocolates, and a soaps basket." She said shrugging, she got something like that for his mother every year. Kimi liked to bring her band mate’s families in as much as she could, thinking that if they were involved that the band would do better, and if they liked the other members of the band than they would be more inclined to help support the band financially if need be. Kimi placed the card on the bed side table next to her and crossed her legs. "She's not still dieting right?" The last Kimi had heard Dem's mother had stopped dieting a few mouths ago, but it could have changed.

"I don't think you should be stepping anywhere girly." Shin said then in one swift motion swept her off her feet and into his arms bridal style. He carried her back inside and plopped her down on the empty bed. "Let me look at your foot, it's bleeding..." He sat down next to her feet and grasped the ankle of the injured limb. "You got... Glass in it..." He said and slipped something out of his pocket. "I know how to fix this, but you might want to focus your attention on the ceiling for a few seconds..." He smirked and the thing he had just taken out of his pocket and was hiding from her made a snapping sound.

"Eh...she's on and off with that whole thing. One second her fingers can't dial fast enough to get a hold of Jenny Craig and the next she's watchin' soap operas with a spoon full of double chocolate ice cream sorounded by a sea of barbecue chips." I sighed, remembering my mother and her 'fads' as she'd called them. Ever since the divorce she would go from taking up a yoga class to packing me up for a cross-country road trip after school. Not that I minded, it was better than watching dad come home with that expression on his face like he was about to pass out before making it to the living room, sending him with a kick from my mom and a luggage case on the side of the highway. She sent me to boarding school when she found out about some inheritance and a once-in-a-life opportunity to take up journalism on a round-the-world trip, one that would last as long as she knew I was fine where I was.

"You don't have to..." I said under my breath as he scooped me up. I felt the bed sink beneath me as he worked on my foot. I griped in pain, wishing I hadn't taken off those heels. I moaned a little. My eye twitched a little and I waited for the torture to end. (Pain is not something I handle well.)

"When's the last time you called her?" Kimi asked. She would have to call the woman the next day. She always did after a gig, it was a day of phone calls and internet marketing. Because they didn't have a manager yet she took care of most of their finances, and the P.R. It was tough but she was a strong person. "Please don't tell me it's been more than a week and a half..." She groaned. If he forgot again than it would be her who talked to the woman most often and that would be more awkward then explaining what kind of relationship she shared with the woman's son... It had taken a half hour the that time to explain that they were not romantically evolved... A half hour!

"Count to three..." Gab put the tweezers to the shard and clamped down on it then slid it out in one quick movement, it came out clean and easy. Leaving the wound completely glass free. "One..." He put the small shard on the table along with the bloody tweezers. "Two. three..." He grinned and pulled the girl's foot up to lightly lay a kiss on her big toe. "All set princess..." He said and gave her a wink.

As I watched the scene unfold before me, I found that it seemed much for like a pathetic attempt at a movie rather than being here. I was out of touch but didn't know the cause of my sudden switch of emotion. Maybe it was yelling at Gab, then again, he did deserve it...to an extent. I eased off of the fridge, onto my feet and rid myself of the hoodie before exiting the room; hopefully without anyone taking much notice. I needed to think. About what? I hadn't a clue. Not bothering to close the door, which wasn't like myself at all, I began walking down the hall.

"Thank you," I said, nodding toward the boy with the blue hair before getting back up on my feet. I bounced off the bed and went down to my bag, reaching for my pale blue ipod. I wiped of the screen a little and stuck the ear-pieces in. I turned it up a little, but not much. Loud music wasn't my thing. How can you appreciate the sounds of the world when you've blasted your ears out for no reason besides to seem edgy? The song was a favorite of mine, "There She Goes Again", by Push Play, of course. I hummed along a little while I picked at the contents of my bag and folded them one by one into a pile. I tried not to look over at those who were still in the room, for fear that they were staring at me. Staring is such a mysterious thing. It can mean a number of things, and though the odds are with us to sensibly conjure up a reasonable explanation for one's stare, we never do. Come to think of it, that concept was the basis of human behavior...as well as t.v. conflict.

"Eh, three weeks? Maybe four. Last I heard from her she was looking into a plane ride from Brazil to somewhere in northeastern Asia...she should be busy." I got up and opened the mini-fridge to see if the human-hoover hadn't sucked up all the nourishment Tess had stored. Just a couple beers and a leftover burrito...or half of it anyway. "I'm goin' to the vending machine...wait...where did Tess go?" I glanced around the room. The new girl had her head down so low over her luggage case I thought she might fall and get lost in it. She had bright blue ear-buds in and was obviously trying to tune out the kerfuffle of oddities around her. I looked to Gabe who was licking something off his fingers, probably from whatever he'd just eaten. "Is she going to the stop and shop? I am so hungry." I asked Kimi.

Kimi shook her head and grabbed demm by the back pocket of his pants. "God damn it Man!" She said and gave him a well deserved smack on his bare back. "I said call her at least once a week! She cares about you! Even I talk to her that often and I'm not even her kid!" She gave His one more smack and flopped down on the bed. " If I was you r mother I'd be traumatized for life..." She shook her head again trying to rattle out some knowledge of what to do to make him act more like a son and less like a hobo. "She just when for a walk... I think she'll be back soon. If you want a ride to the corner store, I've got some things to pick up." Kimi stood and stretched her arms over her head yawning.

Gab sat on the bed next to the new girl's suit case he watched item after item come out of the magical bag and wondered how long it would be until she noticed it had gone missing if he took it. “Kimmmi?” He wined and looked up at the older girl his eyes big and innocent. “Kimi if you’re going out can you get me More of those minty smokes you got last week?” Menthol Cigarettes were his new favorite thing.

My secret wish of someone noticing my disappearance were waning as I approached the court yard. The cold ground beneath my what-I-now-realized-to-be bare feet made me shiver to the core. I walked through the maze of flowers and shrubs before reaching the tree that stood boldly in the northern section. I leaned back against it and slid down into a sitting position with my knees hugged tightly to my chest. Resting my head on top of them, I clenched my eyes closed. What was wrong with me? At the time all I wanted to do was call for Kimi; for her to make everything better like she used to do. A few droplets of water trickled over my reddened cheeks, staining my jeans slightly. I glanced upwards at the threatening clouds, which grew darker as time progressed.
Within the next few minutes they pulled the plug on the drain, letting the rain teem down. Rumbles of thunder soon followed the blue streaks of lightning that flowed across the clouds, reminding me of Gab's hair. I moved one hand upwards to rub my eyes, ending in smearing the heavily applied eyeliner and mascara across the bags under my eyes.
