"Yeah." Was her ultimate answer to all his questions. If she could smile then she would, but the actual severity of what they'd just been through was too great. They had almost died there today. Whether it was skill or just plain luck, they had managed to survive and that was something to be very grateful for.
A slender hand pressed itself to her chest as a way to bring herself to calmness again, but the feel of cold glass distracted her. It was the vial of smoke still hanging around her neck, she'd completely forgotten about it. Remarkably it had survived this entire ordeal. That was good! Ebony wouldn't have to explain the reason for a missing essence to the Lab. Even if it wasn't her fault persay, she'd still feel guilty.
She immediately sat up then as she recalled the other bottle still hooked to her belt. Scrambling somewhat, Ebony quickly searched for it, hoping it was as secure as the vial had been. When her fingers felt the familiar smooth texture of the glass, the woman's heart gave a flutter of relief. Gently, she removed it from her belt to examine the extent of the damage. Surely something had to be wrong with it since Ebony couldn't be that lucky to have both valuables remain in tact.
And she was right, something was wrong with it, yet not what her mind had been thinking. "Aphismet..." She said in a hushed awe, bringing the bottle up further for both of them to view. Slowly, the bottle was filling with some sort of greenish fog substance. "Is this..."

Aphi just let himself lean forward after he released his hug, propping his elbow on his bent knees, taking deep, calming breaths. They were alive, everything was good. He couldn't believe it. He was eager to get the hell back out of here though, before something else showed up. Mental images of a small band of Orcs showing up popped into his mind again, but suddenly that didn't seem all that bad when compared to a giant stone-gazing serpent trying to eat you.
Ebony seemed to be panicking for a moment, grasping around herself like a person looking for their lighter, finally bringing up her soul bottle. Ah, right, she'd been so proud of having gotten her hands on the makings of her very own Raevan... And apparently both glass containers were perfectly fine, not a crack in sight. Although, as Ebony brought the bottle around to Aphi's eyes...
"A soul! ...Holy crap, THAT thing's soul!?" Aphi's mouth dropped open. "Uh... Oh, ok, maybe you should bring the bottle closer to it! That way the soul can go in faster! I think?" The chef wasn't yet quite willing to drop the shield completely, not certain if those deadly eyes were no longer all that deadly, but he moved closer to where its head should be, keeping the golden shield between them and the serpent's head.
Hmmm, this might be a problem when this Raevan was born... If it ever remembered that Ebony had KILLED it, there might be some friction... "Are you sure you want to do this? Have THIS soul?" Despite his question, Aphismet wasn't really aware of a way to empty out the bottle once it started filling.

Maybe it was stress or maybe it was just the irony of her soul capture, but the violet haired female started laughing. It wasn't like she was looking for a soul today much less expecting to catch something and especially nothing as grand as a basilisk! But...it was definitely rare.
As they moved closer to the snake's head, the swirling fog picked up speed as Aphismet predicted, yet so did the petrification of the giant's body. Her laughing stopped abruptly when the chef asked her about wanting the soul. Did she really want something as dangerous as this as her Raevan? Well, surely others had somewhat dangerous souls, right? The thought of Aphismet's Rivener came to mind with those vicious stinger wings. He could easily kill anyone he wanted whenever he felt, but he didn't. Grey eyes looked to her friend fondly then. It was because of him. The guardian was key in helping the reborn soul.
"I think it's a little late for asking that mate. The bottle's already made it's decision. Wouldn't know how to get the soul out even if I wanted and I think the doctor might be too excited about this kind of soul to even want to let it go." She gave him a reassuring smile as the bottle finished filling, the serpent's body completely made of stone now. "I'm not worried. At least it'll be much smaller as a Raevan." She chuckled and nudged Aphismet with her elbow. "How about we see about getting out of here? I've had enough cave adventures to fill a lifetime."

Aphismet smiled slightly as he listened to Ebony's answer. At least she was thinking it through, not just agreeing to have the basilisk out of greed. She was thinking about it, and she'd come to the same conclusions as Aphi; it was too late to turn back. But by her expression, she knew what she was getting into.
The chef snickered as she elbowed him softly. "I couldn't agree more. Although if you don't mind, I think I'll be keeping this shield as a memento of our survival." Grinning, letting out a deep sigh of relief that it was finally OVER, Aphismet finally let his arm drop. Although he was still too chicken to look directly towards the basilisk's head.
"Lead the way!" he declared, prepared to follow in her footsteps.
