Rednal let out a slight sigh after a little time had passed, and turned his gaze upwards as he took another small drink from his tea. Time always passed, and eventually, however chaotic things got, they eventually settled down. He had the guilty pleasure of enjoying chaos, though. It was more interesting than peace, and considering his circumstances, anything that didn't bore him was on the good side. Maybe just a little practice would be fine? Nowhere near here, of course. When Rednal bothered to practice, it was usually over a thousand miles away from any other spiritual signal he could find. It wasn't like the secret he kept was horrible, but... he liked his life as it was, and wanted to keep it.

Well, time to get going, he supposed. There was nothing of any real interest going on around here any longer, and there were other things he could do in order to occupy his time. It was a rather tedious sort of occupation compared to what he used to have, but nothing was perfect. With that thought and done, Rednal finished his meal and stood up, trying to decide what the best thing to do was. Maybe he'd go down to Earth and observe what was happening there... so things would be in the records properly, as it were. He chuckled quietly as he walked away from the dueling zone.

All by himself in the grounds of the duel area was the Lieutenant of the 7th Division, Kane Shishio. Although he is very young to get the seat, his previous experiences with other divisions gave him the skills needed to perform his dutiesto his best. And it shows as he unsheathed the wakazashi sized sword that he calls his Zanpakuto and held it with the point down towards the grond.

"Pounce, Neko Sumiyaka."

He whispered as he aimedto drive the sword into isleg, which it then disappeared before it could reach the limb. instead, the tabi and socks of his shinigami uniform were covered by what sems to be red skate like boots. Hovering about a few inchs in the air, he then took off towards a wall and kicked the air in front of him releasing a crescent shaped wave of fire out in front of him, causing the wall to slightly melt in the process.

A girl in one of the odder outfits Soul Society had quietly practiced her technique in an empty ring. Unlike most Shinigami, she actually wore armor, which in this case had been specially designed for her. Though she had been alive and fighting for a long time, there was no such thing as to much practice. If she was ever going to match him... well, she couldn't slack off for even a single day. The air rippled slightly with the force of her blows.

((I thought you meant the one in division 11, but oh well))

Kaigen's first stop to look for his goal was the dueling arena. The person would likely be training to attain his goal, but that didn't seem to be the case there. He did, however, come across a person who captured his interest. She wore armor, which was very out of the ordinary for anyone, especially a shinigami. He had heard that a person like that would be joining the 11th division at some point, and it seemed this must be the girl. She seemed really quite strong, which was very good. the 11th would need people like that. "Ho there, you wouldn't happen to be the new addition to the 11th division, would you?" he asked from a safe distance. Of course, that distance wouldn't be safe for too long.

(( Oops. ^^; Ah, well. ))

"New is... not the word I would use." she answered dryly. She'd been a part of that particular Division for a rather long time now, going here and there on missions. Soul Society had its philosophers, its charismatic leaders and its risen-through-troubles-to-fame icons. Not to mention the researchers and paper-pushers. Then it had people like Sayo, who were extremely good in about one area and not much use anywhere else. Sayo broke things, mostly Hollow's masks (but occasionally buildings scheduled for demolition), to get her pay. For her, though, this was mostly just continued training, chasing after the shadow of the only person she respected. The same person she hated more than all others. There was another ripple through the air as she slashed down with her blade, well away from the visitor.

"Ok then you're new to me, so we'll say that counts," Kaigen replied, his natural happy-go-lucky attitude shining through his exposed teeth as he smiled lightheartedly. "My name is Jasutin Kaigen, acting captain of the 11th division," he said with no particular connotation, since he was merely stating a fact, not trying to threaten or show off, just introducing himself. He didn't carry himself like a normal captain, and his reiatsu didn't seem to be anything special, but that just made him all the more a person to watch out for.

"And?" the girl inquired simply. "I'm the Lieutenant. Not an acting one, however." the girl wasn't much of a leader, though she had met and talked with the best. She was high-ranked in 11th Division simply because of the fact that her physical strength was in severe excess of her physical form, and if she got serious, this was notably multiplied. She was almost always serious while on missions; unlike those whose goal was to have fun fights, when on missions she simply worked to kill her enemies as fast as possible. People who were expecting their foe to hold something back tended to get in a lot of trouble when she came at them.

Kaigen chuckled, "that's good to know. I can see that you have no intention of being a friend, but may I at least know the name of the woman who will be serving alongside me?" he asked, trying to call to her sense of duty rather than her sense of personality, since the former was obviously more dominant in her.
He was kind of the opposite, in the respect that he didn't try and kill quickly. It wasn't that he enjoyed long fights, but it was easier in a way to drag out a battle to the point where the opponent becomes restless, and more vulnerable to slipping up.
"In fact, I'd like to know just how capable my comrades are. I doubt not your credibility, I just need to know if I can really pull this position off, ya know? So what do you think?"
PostPosted: Mon Apr 27, 2009 2:54 pm

"I am Sayo Ak'Thias. If you wish to test yourself, then come at me." was her simple answer. Neither part of her name would mean much except to those who had studied history; her last name was not the result of marriage, despite an ill-thought-out attempt once, but her way of remembering the first Captain she served, long since dead. Her first name had no special meaning attached to it. Calmly, she got into a ready position. While her usual style was to launch herself at the enemy (Rednal had called it a 'Sayo-doken', whatever that meant), she was quite capable of defending instead, which was about all she really needed to do in a situation like this.

"Ak'thias . . . I think I used to know that name from somewhere . . . oh well, it doesn't matter," he replied, drawing his zanpakuto from his sheath, the purely ivory blade showing itself for the first time in a while, interrupted only by Kaigen's hand. His first action was one that would likely be viewed as odd . . . he touched the tip of his blade lightly, not getting cut, but just touching it. His next action was nothing unexpected.
"Assert your dominance, Jakenkou," he muttered, releasing his zanpakuto into it's shikai form. The blade curved slightly, one way near the hilt, then back towards the tip. Besides that, there really didn't seem to be any difference.
With his blade released, he eased his way towards Sayo, muttering under his breath. "Your edict is heard . . ." he began, literally walking towards Sayo with his blade lowered. It wasn't long before he switched directions, circling Sayo while still getting closer . . . just close enough for his blade to reach her now, and therefor, for her blade to reach him.

Sayo's blade, had it been going slower, might have flashed. As soon as his weapon was in range, the girl's own had shot out to smack it aside. This might not have done too much to start with, except for the fact that Sayo was very strong. Unless the other man was quite a lot stronger than he seemed, even such a basic blow would send him stumbling to the side. Still, the girl brought her sword across horizontally anyway, and a ripple shot towards the acting Captain. This was not a special technique of any sort; it was a shockwave created by her swinging her sword through the air, a mundane phenomenon that would still hurt to get hit by. She was far from full-power, though, not even releasing her weapon, so it would be nowhere near fatal. Bruising, though, was practically guaranteed. Melee offense, defense, and speed were her areas of expertise.

Before Sayo's first strike was even a though, Kaigen's zanpakuto was moving towards the floor, and just before the blades would contact each other, Jakenkou melded down partially into the floor, and Sayo would stop instantaneously. "To the stocks," he finished all the while, smiling. Sayo was completely bound as long as Kaigen wanted. This wasn't like a standard binding spell, this was the entirety of Kaigen's reiatsu keeping her pinned. Even at full power, she would remain bound. Why? because the equivalent of three spirits held her in place. Unfortunately, he couldn't do anything to her as long as she was pinned, bringing the match as it was to a stalemate.
"Awe, come now, Sayo-chan, standing still is hardly fitting for a warrior. Unfortunately, this closeness has to end or this battle never will," he muttered, completely calm knowing that she wouldn't be moving an inch.
Pressing his hand to her shoulder, he grasped Jakenkou firmly in his other hand as he crouched down. All of a sudden, he sprang away, moving out of range, unbinding Sayo, and muttering, "Ichikase" all at once, landing at a stance of readiness.
"Have you anything to say?" he asked, smiling in a friendly manner, despite their ongoing sparring match.

The girl's blade had come dangerously close to cutting into his chest before he had jumped away. The sad truth was that the girl was not very subtle. She didn't try to worm her way around powers and look for the weak spots; she simply slammed into it with as much force as necessary, and this tended to be very effective on bindings. She didn't have much delicate skill, but she did have plenty of brute force. Besides which, this man didn't have nearly enough power to stop her with just his reiatsu alone. She'd been in the presence of far, far more and not crumbled. She had more herself, come to think of it. She just wasn't using most of her offensive power. After all, this was a friendly match, not an execution. "You are weak." she answered simply. She spun around, unleashing a shockwave in all directions. If he wanted to get close, he'd need to go through that. And once he did get through (admittedly not a difficult task at this level), then...

"Hmph . . . " Kaigen huffed though he maintained his smile, and crouched down. "Yes, your majesty," he muttered, as the shockwaves seemed simply to go through him. That was of course not quite the reality of it, but he did manage to dodge in some form or another.
"That's not exactly fair considering you haven't seen my strength," he retorted, he replied, disappearing again only to reappear in triplicate behind Sayo, "Off with her head!" he exclaimed as his blade came crashing down towards the back of her neck. Another came from the side, and a third from above. She would have to somehow block all three simultaneous attacks, or dodge, which given the time frame she had, seemed the most unlikely of the two. Of course, none of those strikes would actually hit her, as they were killing blows, but his control over that would kick in only if she found herself unable to avoid getting hurt by her own power.
