"What's pizza?" Jacen asked with interest. He had heard the word a couple times while staying in Thali's backyard, always wondering what it was. "Let's have pizza." He decided on whim. Whatever it was, if Thali liked it, it had to be good, right? Maybe it even had cheese on it.

"Pizza is good." Kaimi agreed, steering them towards the pizza place. "It's a crust with sauce and cheese and toppings on it." Dragging him inside, she somehow managed to steer them to a table and snag a couple of menus. "What do you think you'd like on top?"

Cheese! Jacen was hooked by that one word. He smiled, and followed her into the pizza place. "Smells good." He commented, as they reached the table. "Uh. How about you pick the toppings?" What was pepperoni? What was canadian bacon? "As long as it's not sardines." He added.

"Well..." Kaimi eyed the extensive toppings list. "I like peppers and onions and mushrooms and artichokes and olives..." She smiled and ducked her head a little. "I don't like meat, though. It makes me feel sick. But we could put meat on half of it for you."

"Olives are good." Jacen said with a nod. He knew what olives were. "And mushrooms too." He smiled at her, though he didn't know what artichokes were. Well, he did, he'd just never heard them called that before. "I don't mind if there's meat or not, really."
Hey, as long as Kaimi was happy, he was too. "Um. So, are you in school?" He asked, interested. He'd heard Thali talk about it. He'd been homeschooled. "What's it like?"

Kaimi put in an order for a veggie deluxe pizza with their waiter, then made a face. "Ugh. School. It's terribly boring and I hate it." A small, sheepish giggle escaped her lips. "I usually don't go. I mean, my mom thinks I do, but I don't. I'd rather be at the beach or something."

Jacen nodded in understanding. "I was homeschooled." He explained. "I'm going to guess that school out here is just as boring." He paused, and tilted his head. "Do you want to go to the beach after this?" He asked. He'd never been, but if she liked it, he would too.

Glancing out the window, Kaimi shook her head. "Umm... too chilly today." She answered, shifting as their pizza arrived and serving them each a piping hot slice. "Anyways, after we eat we need to find you a place to stay. And then I have to go home or my mom will worry."

"Maybe some other time then." Jacen said, agreeably. "I've never been to a beach, actually." He frowned slightly, embarrassed. "Um.. So.. Uh. Maybe after we find a place for me to stay, you'd like to go on a date with me?" He asked with a tilt of his head and a blush.

"A date?" Kaimi blushed as well. Nobody had ever asked her to go on a date before and the question had her flustered. "I.. sure. Sure!" She smiled. "What do you do in Elf-land, anyways? Whats it like there?"

Jacen was surprised that she accepted, and smiled. "Um. Well, I suppose Lynwood's like here." He said, looking around. "Just different. Less buildings, no cars. I think elves like to be out in the open, or something." He paused. "I don't do much of anything there-- I used to tag along with Vate and the Princess when they'd cause trouble. They're both older than I am."

Biting into the pizza, Kaimi made an appreciative sound and then nodded at Jacen while she chewed. "So what got you put on spy-duty, then?" She was kind of dissapointed. An elven kingdom had sounded so cool and magical and romantic, but apparently there wasn't much difference from the world she knew.

"Originally, Thali's father set up the job. He wanted to make sure she was happy and safe. After Vate left, there wasn't much else for me to do. So I was supposed to take care of her.. then he gave her permission to stay." Jacen sighed. He resented the king's choice.

Finishing her slice in record time, Kaimi grabbed another one and munched thoughtfully. "I don't see why staying here is such a big deal." She commented. "It sounds pretty much just like where you're from." This was said with a faint air of dissapointment. "She seems as happy and safe as anyone else. Who is this Vate guy, anyways? You keep mentioning him. Is he your boss?"

"Vate's my friend." Jacen explained, before going on to tell Kaimi that though Lynwood could seem like Gaia, the traditions and laws, the people. They were all different. Very different. He smiled at her, and took a bite of pizza. "This is good." He said, sounding surprised.
