Having devoured his meal at something of a world record, Charles smiles as he swallows the last of his meal. Already feeling infinitely better for eating, he takes in the rooms around himself, and catalogs mentally everything he sees as best he can. The imagine and building comment goes unchallenged, hardly being in a position to challenge the Captain. After what he had just seen and done, there is very little that will surprise him.
This acceptance of the world at large allows him to remain unsurprised when Maxi opens a panel and presses a few keys. Charles stares hard at it, trying to memorize the keystrokes exactly- unsure of what they really do. When he is asked about secrecy, the shimigami speaks with a smirk. "What panel? I didn't see anything." The tour continues, and he wonders silently just where they are headed.

Tadashi walked into the lab and noticed the boss and Charles. He quickly broke into a smile because he had needed either of them. "Yo guys. Hows everything going in here?" Tadashi chuckles. "Listen, Im looking for a way to borrow Marco's grenade. That thing is pretty awesome s**t. I have an idea with it." Tadashi quickly glanced at Maximoru and gave him a wink.

Peering over his shoulder, Charles' smirk remains for a different reason. Eyeing up Tadashi carefully, his words carry a slight antagonistic tone. Annoyed that he is being interrupted in his tour just as it gets interesting his words are not as cautious as normal. "Are you saying you can't make a grenade? Certainly a member of squad twelve is capable of creating an explosive . . ."

Maxi listens to the two members chat, then starts laughing in response to Charles's comment. "Now now guys, Marco's grenades are quite special. Though I'm not sure if Tad could make a grenade or not I won't comment on that, but it should be fine to grab one or two from him if you need them. Boxes are in the closet next to the main door." Maxi nods to the closet as he continues down the hallway away from Tad. "The main things expected of you in this lab are to rediscover what you think we know." He pauses, "That sounded better in my head, just do whatever you think will be good for the society or at least yourself. You are under the jurisdiction of only me, so everyone else can just suck it or I'll stick them in a partical accelerator." His smile deepens as he walks on.

The fleeting thought of helping to shove faceless captains into a corridor only to be ripped apart by molecules that cannot be defended against makes him smile. Dropping the subject of the grenades, Charles thinks it best not to contradict or press the issue with his Captain. Instead, he analyzes his now standing orders of discovery. A series of thoughts passes through his mind as he falls in step behind Maxi.
Thoughts of reiatsu, the crystals, resonance, even gigais. The realization that through regenerative drugs, rarified reiatsu, and a special model of gigai, they could make more than just copies of themselves. "Has anybody ever thought to alter the form or capability of a gigai beyond simply advancing a human form? Since it is only temporary, why not add in more offensive weaponry or durability . . . make a juggernaut of a body for heavy assault."

As they continue the tour, Maxi listens to Charles as they approach another panel where repeats the same keystrokes as a the last one, nods again to Charles, then finally speaks. "The true reason no one has ever really messed with the gigai system is that there is no need for it to be offensive. No thats a lie, we just don't feel the need to make it very powerful as its more of a covert item then an attack base." He points into a room they pass and chuckles, "But that was a well timed question." The sign above the door reads Gigai Research and Storage.

Beaming at the compliment, he continues the conversation with a newfound smirk on his face, his mind whirling. "All the more reason to have a powerful gigai. Theatricality and deception are powerful weapons . . . nobody expects the gigai to be strong. That can offer a nice surprise to opponents expecting something else. Of course there is also the fact that when the gigai is too damaged, it can be abandoned and the spiritual form is relatively untouched." Of course, Charles is also considering more spiritual enhancements such as the drugs and stores of energy he has heard about. Something of several 'lives' in a very real game.

Opening the door and exiting from the Gigai room, Victoria walked over to where Maxi and Charles were talking. "In my opinion I wouldn't think it would matter how strong a gigai is, since they are basically lumps of flesh. A gigai can't manipulate spirit particles and therefore can't help you out in a battle." As she walked by she slowed down just barely enough to squeeze Maxi's hand and flash him a quick smile before she continued to walk forward. Opening the door across the hall as if nothing had happened, she entered the room simply named 'Parts'.

Charles raises an eyebrow at the passing comment from the passing woman. Before he can bite back in the same way he did to Tadashi, he sees the quick exchange between Maxi and her. Deciding it wise to bite his retort back, all that leaves him is a mumble. "And that proves my point of gaining a surprise advantage."

Shoving the door roughly aside with her behind, Victoria exited the room of 'Parts' only a few seconds after entering. She was trying to balance a large stack of papers in her left hand while holding a random human looking arm in her other hand and using it to keep the papers steady. She carefully moved back across the hall, praying the papers didn't fall. As she reached the spot the men were standing at, she stopped. Shifting the stack of papers to a comfortable position, she then peered around and smiled. "Sorry Charles, did you say something a moment ago? That was rude of me to just rush off, I tend to do that when I have my mind on work."

For a fleeting second, Charles starts to restate his argument, but stops himself. Why bother picking a fight? Better to catalog this idea away and surprise others later. With a warm smile and a dismissive wave he ignores his impulse. "Nothing of consequence. Working on a project, are you? May I ask what of?"

Looking at her stack of papers, Victoria shifted her weight and chuckled. "Oh no, not right now. Right now I'm just doing some routine maintenance on the gigai. Have to keep everything up to date you know." She returned his smile, looked over at Maxi, and then back to Charles. "So, what are you two up to?"

Charles smiles, inwardly amused that she so quickly dismissed his idea of gigai upgrade, and yet is doing paperwork on the very subject. Perhaps that jaded her a bit? Perhaps she doesn't want to face more paperwork . . . in either case, she was neither rude nor mean. Charles only shrugs with a smile. "Officially, I am taking a break from the first test run of a reishi diffusion simulator. Unofficially, the Captain is showing me around the place."

Watching the two chat, Maxi smirks but remains out of their lite conversation as gigai actually annoy the crap out of him. The cost of repairs and constant maintenance kept the squad from having other, more useful things like increased budget for the labs as a group. At the very least he would be able to get a hold of some of the highest quality materials for the other building, so that he, himself didnt have to synthesize it.

"Oh that's nice of you." Victoria commented to Maxi, looking him over. "What are you smirking about?" She loved his little smirk and knew he must be thinking about something. She then addressed Charles, remembering that he had mentioned the reisi diffusion simulater. "So how is your test run going then? Any problems?"
