> Sgt. John D. Averson Portia, Regency Hotel Hotel Lobby
John sat in the lobby, silently enjoying his Sweet William's cigar. A gray sea bag lay slumped next to his left leg, his MA7K leaned up against the bench he was seated comfortably on. The Sergeant wore a wrinkled set of gray fatigues, with a matching gray utility cover. As soon as he arrived he sat down in the lobby, where he currently was seated comfortably. John hadn't even been up to his room yet, he had received a letter from his parents, he had opened it only a few seconds ago, a newspaper clipping was enclosed. It read, "Civilian transport vessel destroyed by Insurrectionists, over 50 civilians killed." There was also a list of passengers attached with it. One name stood out on the list, Dr. Karen Averson. John crushed the list and tossed it in the trash bin beside him. Damn, I told her to stay put, why didn't she listen? He thought, She never could listen. She knew it wasn't safe to travel. Why? Why would she not listen? Now, because of her own stubborn nature, his only sister was dead John stood up, grabbed his sea bag with his left hand, and slung it over his shoulder, he grasped his MA7K by the forearm grip and walked toward the elevator. He stepped into the elevator and sat his sea bag down for a moment, and pressed the button labeled 47.
The elevator roared to life, and shot up into the air, after a few seconds he grew bored of watching the floors change. John turned to look out through the glass, many people stirred below him. They looked so small, he felt powerful looking down from this height. It made him feel alive, the rush of the elevator as it sped upwards. John sighed and turned as he heard a high pitched beep. The doors slid apart and the Sergeant stepped off the elevator and headed toward the room he was assigned. He approached the door, sighed as he momentarily dropped his sea bag. John pulled his card from his shirt pocket and pressed it into the slot. He retrieved the key once it verified the code, and picked up his sea bag. John pushed the door open with his foot and stepped inside. He scanned across the room, searching methodically for a free bunk. John spotted one of towards the corner, right across from a bunk occupied by a sleeping ODST. The Sergeant moved toward in a tired motion and tossed his sea bag down next to it, along with his MA7K. He flopped down on the bed, looked up and began to enjoy his cigar again.

Watching the robber get knocked on his butt was enough to bring out a smile then a soft chuckle. The look on the man's face when he was hit by the handle of the gun was priceless, but Dee hesitated not to take the bag from Alex and walk steadily to the elderly woman who, by now, was wiping a few tears from her wrinkled face. Dee's short figure approached the lady with as much of a smile that she could conjure up and handed the purse to her by the leather handle. It was a lovely purse and had a sense of ancient elegance to it and it seemed to have some sentimental value to its owner. The woman's thanks were many and Dee continued to ask the international question "You're sure you're alright", or "Are you sure you don't need to go to a hospital" etc. etc. After she 101% percent positive of the lady's well-being, Dee turned around in time to watch the local authorities cuff the man and throw him into the back seat of their patrol car.
She smiled and waved at the robber mockingly as he was driven off to be stuck into a jail cell and receive his sentence. It was a curious thing how one would jeopardize their lives for a quick buck and Dee wasn't going to bother herself trying to justify their reasons in her own mind. He got what he deserved. Dee couldn't help but give Alex an approving look and a nod.
"Really bloodied that guy's face up...Nice job."

"This is disgusting, some of his skin in stuck to the ground." He was looking at the puddle of blood. Alex started tampering with his gun, making sure it wasn't damaged in any way. He didn't want a faulty gun in battle, even the slightest glitch is unwanted. Alex took out the clip and put it back in, he looked around to see if anyone was close by so he could fire it into the ground. His gun seemed fine, so he was happy. He locked the trigger and put the gun back in it's holster. "What do you want to do now?"

Aleksandra Roarke | UNSC Navy O-4
"Good morning, Aleksandra."
Aleksandra was awoken by the rustic voice of the ship's AI. Named Demitrius, the male AI stood erect as Aleksandra rose up from her rack. He was dressed in the gray service uniform of the UNSC, though it appeared colorless on the hologram. He executed a crisp salute as the hologram faded slightly. Nodding, she swung the flimsy covers off her body and hopped off the rack. She landed on the the Titanium-A floor with a soft thud, shivering slightly as the cold metallic floor was felt through her body. She grabbed her dog tags, which hung next to her rack. Draping them back over her neck, Demitrius appeared in front of her:
"We should be arriving at the Portia Space Port in a short while. In the meantime, we've received a message from Rear-Admiral Hoffman. He asks that the Ardent Wind stands by."
She nodded, turning to the mirror on the bulkhead. Her hair was in shambles, lines of drool were plastered on her chin. She was a mess, in every sense of the word.
"As beautiful as always, ma'am."
She smiled at the holograms words, "Thanks, Demitrius. Tell Rear-Admiral Hoffman I am looking forward to seeing him on the surface."

Dee looked up at the marine and shrugged. It didn't seem like there was anything to do here on Portia, at least she wasn't aware of it, and was feeling an overwhelming sense of boredom. Alex taken out the robber had provided her with only a minimum amount of the excitement she was yurning for. Well, there wasn't anything she could do about this unless she wanted to get into a tussle with the cops, but she didn't feel like getting shot today.
"Ya know, there are days I wish that the covenant were still around. It'd give us something to do at the least..."
God...What was she saying? Dee could hardly believe she had just let those words slip out from behind her lips. She could believe she had even given thought to such a notion. The Covenant had caused so much pain and misery to the planet Earth that even thinking about them should have made your stomach knot up with hate. But the odd thing was...Dee didn't feel any different mentioning this, or even thinking about the aliens without getting the feeling that she needed to bust open someone's skull.

"Funny. I didn't mind slaughtering the brutes back in the day." Alex glanced up at the sky, "The day I got this scar on my face, is the day Spartan-117 saved my life."
He started thinking about that day when they were on the Ark, a brute came charging at him when he was young. The brute swung the blade of the brute shot straight at his face, suddenly a sniper bullet went through it's head and the blade just nicked his face. Master Chief run up beside him and asked if he was okay, Alex nodded, so Chief carried on with what he was doing and Alex followed.
He looked at Dee with a blank stare. "Without Master Chief, we would all be dead."

POST 15,000! Hoffman, Christopher W. | UNSC Amnesty of GodHoffman straightened his cap and stepped up from the Titanium-A deck of Hangar Bay Echo-Seven and into the Pelican dubbed The Chariot. He didn't know why McDonald had chosen that name for the D77H-TCI Pelican Dropship, and frankly he didn't want to know. The Rear-Admiral thought that maybe the UNSC Amnesty of God being the first ship McDonald had served on could have been it. It was funny how almost everyone except for those closest to him, like Alia, thought that he was a religious man. It would have made sense for him to be a man of religion with a ship named the Amnesty of God, so he never got angry when someone suggested it to him, or made a rude comment about him or the religion. The hatch began to close and the Rear-Admiral made his way to one of the seats on the starboard side of the pelican bay. He sat down, strapped in, and relaxed as the Pelican lifted off the deck and out of the bay.
"Ladies and Gentlemen, this is your Captain speaking. Looks like our flight will be short and sweet, and without much turbulence!"
"McDonald, just get me to the Armored Prayer."
"Yes, sir! Permission to speak freely?"
"Alright," said the Rear-Admiral hesitantly.
"You may want to hold on tight; I lied about that turbulence!"
Hoffman smiled lightly and crossed his arms over his chest so that he could hold on tight to his harness. The pelican bucked to the left and then hard to the right. Christopher could only wonder what it looked like when Henry, his pilot, twisted the Chariot out of the pelican bay and down in the atmosphere. The kid was right, it was a turbulent ride, but Hoffman wouldn't have wanted it any other way. It was kids like these with spirits like his that had won the Human-Covenant war seven years earlier, and it would be them that continued the legacy of the UNSC. Christopher would make sure that McDonald stayed on his ship, and was never transferred.
When Henry McDonald brought the Chariot to bare, however, things were very different. There were no more acrobatics; no twists, turns, rolls, nor flips. From then on it would strictly professional, as per the request of Alia who was always ruining Rear-Admiral Hoffman's fun. As the Pelican drifted expertly into Hangar Bay Alpha-Six, and touched down a few meters from the welcoming party with it's aft facing the men. Inside Hoffman had already undone the harness and was standing up with his arms folded behind his back and his feet at shoulder width. The hatch opened and he stepped down the ramp onto the deck. The officers and NCOs that stood on either side making a path saluted him as he walked between them and over to Jacobs who was standing at the end. Christopher nodded his head to the man and returned his salute. Their eyes met, and the Rear-Admiral stepped past him with a gesture for him to follow.
"It's good to see you again, Jacobs."

Orbit of New Harmony Portia Regency Hotel Central Elevator
The door slid open to reveal a large luxurious room stuffed with Marine ruck sacks and gear randomly thrown about. Of course it also revealed a relatively large man standing at around 6 feet tall with a grin on his face that Compton could not mistake for anyone other than his long time partner in crime, Sergeant Major Mitchell. Compton, despite his best efforts to ruin his reputation in the UNSC still got to room with squad, a mistake that they soon would regret, well as long as the Insurrectionists didn't try anything funny. The thought that the two were going to be on one of the hottest resort planets in human space to create mischief once again brought a smile to the ODSTs face that was unmistakable, even through the helmet that he wore.
"Watch your head. I take it there weren't any girls involved this time." Compton took a step into the room, ducking a good foot to make sure he didn't destroy the door frame, "No, this time I got to play an anchor in a literal sense." Compton laughed at the how the scene from earlier would've have looked from any perspective other than his own, it helped to make the fear that he once felt pass away. Of course, now he was with Mitchell too so any and all problems that occurred would probably covered up right quickly. Hell if anyone ever had his back, it was Mitchell.
"Your bunk is in the corner. Watch out for the Rook, he's been having a bad day." Compton nodded towards Mitchell and walked over to the corner where until the UNSC called upon Echo team once again he would call home. "What's got the Rook's panties in a bunch?" Compton asked, being the instigator as always. He threw his pack onto his bunk and reached for the clips holding his helmet on. After releasing them he took his helmet off to reveal quite a few scars across his face and head. The man had been to the gates of hell more than his fair share of times and every time he stared death in the face until it backed down and he completed his mission once again. He turned to face his team, everyone in the room was now higher ranked than him, but the only one with the gall to try and touch him that he knew of was Mitchell, and Compton intended to see his team's breaking points before their next mission.

Mitchell, Scott P. | UNSC MARINES E-9
The chunk of scented soap smacked into the side of the Sergeant Major's head with a surprisingly forceful impact. The blow sent a spatter of white spots through Mitchell's vision. He didn't reprimand O'Connol, because he had deserved it. The Sergeant Major tossed the dangerous projectile back into the bathroom and placed it in the sink with the practiced ease of a man who was accustomed to throwing objects. He wanted to say that his steady aim had come from throwing baseballs around, but the sad fact was that he had tossed far more grenades than baseballs. He turned back to the Rook and watched as he fastened his helmet and climbed back into bead. Mitchell let out a soft chuckle and rubbed the back of his head. He could already feel a bruise forming. The Sergeant Major looked back at the giant and laughed. "An anchor? You're moving up in the world Nate." The Marine walked over to his bunk and sat down. The naval cot squeaked slightly as he put his weight on it. His plan was simple. Wait for Compton to get changed, then hit up the nearest bar. His primary objective was to be dead drunk before he got back to the hotel room and wake up the next day with a well-deserved hang-over. His partner in crime would be none other than Lance Corporal Nathaniel Compton. If the Rook snapped out of his crazy mode, he could come too. Compton's remark about the Rook caught Mitchell off guard, and he shot the Lance Corporal a look that said "we'll talk about it later". After what he had seen the Rook do to Corporal Carlson, he didn't want to provoke the poor kid any more.

Jacobs, Omar C. | UNSC NAVY O-6
The Admiral was crisp and clear in his presentation. There was absolutely no confusion as to who exactly was in charge. Aside from the obvious differences in uniform, the Rear-Admiral's chest was covered in campaign ribbons and decorations. Chiefest among them was the UN Congressional Medal of Honor. The old man stood slightly taller than Jacobs and wore a proud face. His square jaw, which was naturally clenched tight from years of nerve-withering combat against the Covenant flexed as he spoke. Once Jacob's salute was returned, he followed step with the Rear-Admiral. "Sir." Jacobs said in acknowledgement. It wasn't his place to speak freely. If the Admiral wanted his opinion on something, he would ask for it.

R.A.G.D.O.L.L UNIT X.2- SERIES 001 LOCATION: PORTIA-- City Streets
There was that name again; Spartan-117, Master Chief. Even though she had been in a state of cryostasis for the last couple of years, Dee knew who this particular individual was and what he did for the human race. It was spectacular, really, and Dee found herself looking up to him. After all, her unit was created to replace the Spartans, but how could she, a 17 year old kid who only recently broke down into tears over a loss, ever amount to the Spartans, much less 117. She was ashamed at these thoughts of being 2nd best and scoulded herself for it by nipping the her bottom lip. But honestly. Who would want a used toy when they could settle for a shiny, new one. That's what Dee was...a used toy and she wondered why the doctor had gone to so much trouble in keeping her alive all these years.
"Heh...Yeah. I guess you're right..."

Amelia Falkland | UNSC Marines E-6
Amelia woke up after what seemed like mere seconds. Her hand was still on her ailing side, but now the pain had dulled. She lifted her hand only to find traces of blood on hand. She propped herself up to see that the bandages were now soiled and had seeped through to her shirt.
s**t.
Quickly but gently, Amelia arose from her rack, feeling the sting of pain once again. It nearly toppled her, but instead she let out a sharp exhale to show her distress. She went through her rucksack which laid next to her ditty bag, pulling out a fresh roll of gauze and medical wraps. With those in hand, she headed for the women's head, praying there was no one in there...

Alex looked at Dee with a little worry and wonder. He wondered if made her feel insignificant. He wondered what a Ragdoll unit was actually for, he never learned anything about them until recently, and that was a mere briefing. So he shrugged it off and let it the thought slide for now. He turned and started walking back the hotel, he looked back to see if Dee was going to follow, but she just stood there. "You coming back to the hotel?" Alex waited for an answer, but didn't really expect that she would come back with him.

Dee looked up at Alex with a calm look upon her face as she hid the confused thoughts she just couldn't shake.
"...Nah. I think I'm just gonna hang out here for a little while..."
The air outside was nice and Dee honestly didn't want to go back up to her room already. She felt claustrophobic in there with the four walls her only company and she knew that if she crammed herself inside her thoughts would go back to the doctor and Scott. Dee didn't want that to happen, not again, and after she'd waved Alex off she tucked her hands into her pockets and began a casually slow walk into the opposite direction.

Alex did a casual salute that was more of a wave, and then went on his way back to the hotel. As he strolled along the sidewalk, he suddenly had thoughts of his mother, wondering how she was doing since his father died.
After the long walk, he got to the hotel doors and went through them after they slid open. Went pasted the reception desk and said hello to the receptionist. He got to elevator and got in the one already on the ground floor. He pressed the level 47 button and watched the numbers count upwards really fast. His body felt kind of heavy while it was going fast. As it slowed down Alex got the feeling of his normal weight again. When the doors opened to level 47, he walked out and down the hall to his room of 4b. He swiped his key card for the door to open, took a couple of steps in and then stopped to see quite a few people in the room. "Oh shoot, hello sir." He saluted the Sergeant Major while noticing another ODST, "Hey another one!".
