"I wasn't trying to get dirty, you guys did this!" Miles whined, pawing at his fur in a futile attempt to remove all the gunk. "...you really think water would get this off?..." Looking rather pitiful, the pup glanced over at his brother.

"Yeah! That sounds fun!" Rene's tail wagged back and forth excitedly. "But....there's no water out here," she noted, her excitement quickly turning to disappointment.

"YES. Swimming, it's just like a bath, really. I'm sure between the two of us, we can get you clean. All we have to do is go to the river. I know the way!" And he did too. He trotted off, unconcerned by the fact that he wasn't supposed to be alone with the water. He excused this by the fact that he wasn't really alone, he had siblings with him.

Well -this- sibling was only following because he was desperate. REALLY desperate. Mom would never let him hear the end of this if he went home looking this dirty...and as much as he hated to admit it he really could use their help getting clean. So Miles followed, but he did his damn best to keep his head high and make it look like he WANTED to follow.
..Which he really, really didn't.

It wasn't too far to the river, and Gant led his followers to a rather calm, shallow spot. He immediately waded in deep enough to cover his paws and began splashing around randomly. "See? Just like a bath." He flicked a paw and aimed a splash right for Miles and Renegade.

Miles was hit by the splash, and as the water ran down the pup's muzzle he gave his brother a rather icy glare. "Yes...just like a bath." Grumbling, the slimy little pup wandered a few steps into the water and looked around. "...I don't know if we should be doing this..." They weren't supposed to be here...but if mom saw how dirty he was she'd throw a fit too.

"WEE!" With a squeal of joy, Renegade dove into the water, creating a large splash of her own. She resurfaced a moment later, giggling happily.

They weren't supposed to be here was a given fact. But the idea of splashing around, even if it was to help Miles was totally worth it. "We'll make it quick. And we'll be fine as long as we don't go too deep."
Gant splashed some more and then pawed at Miles to help with the muck removal. "See? Rene's got the right idea."

Miles was simply miserable. There was just too much water..and mud...and splashing and laughing and just THINGS going on. Things were spiraling further and further out of his control and he -really- didn't like it. But, at the very least....it seemed to be working. Grumbling now at what was going on -and- the fact his siblings were right, Miles began pawing at some of the gunk as well.

Rene made her way over to some foliage growing at the edge of the pond, doing her best to be sneaky. She crouched down, attempting to hide from the pair and hoping she hadn't been seen.

Miles looked absolutely miserable, which gave a Gant a moment of pause. A small moment. More like a breath than an actual pause, but for an instant, it was there. And so while he still continued to splash and scrub at his brother, his motions were less of a man-handling variety more of brotherly concerned at getting him clean.
and that meant he was paying little attention to his sister, wherever she wandered off to.

Miles was far too busy being miserable and getting clean to worry about where his sister had run off to. Luckily it seemed to be coming off pretty fast. In a few minutes he'd be completely clean, horray!

Rene huddled down, watching them until Mimi was allllmmmoossttt clean. With a wicked little giggle, she launched from the pond grasses and ran at the pair, aiming to tackle her stuffy brother.

A few more scrubs, a few more splashes, and they should be good. Then they can all go back and make a mess while fuss-pot can watch and nag, since he doesn't understand the joy of gettin' down and dirty.
And that's precisely when he looks up and notices his sister. He's torn, really, it's an epic pounce, but dammit, all this hard work will go to waste. So instead he compromised and froze like a deer in headlights.
