It is gonna take me FOREVER to catch up on all the s**t going on when I get back online. Guild Announcements, new Evolving Items, events... I hate being away from Gaia for too long because it's always changing.

So, did anyone else think it was funny that Jack just killed the "Epic Battle" at the end of the Halloween Event?

I just wish he would have dragged naked!Gino away with him into the distance. That'd have been great.

I love that Gino has become such a big part of the comics. I remember being deeply sucked into the whole saga of the Tower falling, and later Gino washing up on the beach.. Though the storyline doesn't feel as strong and consistent as it did back then.
I think that because they feel they failed with the Zurg storyline, they're afraid of making anything consistent for fear they will have to drop it again.

Apparently that's not so, because some Gaia developers are wearing their smoking-related items in protest of the ban as well. Mine are still all soulbound to their accounts. neutral
They'll never hear the end of this s**t...

What kind of idiot 1. thought this up 2. thought this needed to be implemented 3. thought it would actually work 4. thought gaia wouldn't eventually cave in to the people who actually give them a job to do in the first place?
You just simply can't ban smoking items without getting rid of all the sex-alcohol related items at all. Because it is, literally, completely, just stupid.
What in the hell was someone (not) smoking when they thought this had any sort of a fraction of a chance?
What dumbasses.

The general assumption in the Site Feedback forum (also known as the Rage Train at the moment) is that it was done to please a sponsor who wouldn't get involved with a site that indirectly promoted smoking. It's plausible if the sponsor was large enough.
The "plan" is to continue to rant and rave about it across Gaia (many are adjusting signatures and avatars to represent smoking) until the staff responsible adjust their views. You might remember the ***** word filter -- we got that nixed with such a method, so there's no reason it won't work now with an even larger surge of support.
EDIT: I glanced through the Ask the Admin thread that Lanzer hosts each Monday night in the GCD, and stumbled across both an explanation and an apology - Lanzer I've also been working with the recent issue with the cigarette items being removed. It was an idea that didn't quite convey the right message and we're definitely not moving forward with the changes. Apologies for all the confusion we caused. [...] I was surprised by the announcement myself and had asked for things to be restored. In specific, the item will be restored, and the same goes towards the item itself. The original idea involved was quite different, and I certainly agree with you that we mistreated all Gaians in this case. I'm co-ordinating with the many groups of teams that were involved to make sure that we don't make the same mistake again. I thank you and all others for sharing your concerns, and being patient with us as we correct our mistake. [...] With more than a hundred people in Gaia HQ, there are quite a few of us that oppose to handguns, oppose to drugs, oppose to child porn, and there there were those opposed to tobacco. One of our teams wish to convey their point of view about tobacco, but the way the message was delivered was definitely not the right one. It does upset me to see the announcement being posted, and I wanted to make sure that we listen to everyone's concerns and take the appropriate steps moving forward.

Gaia has been so freaking awesome with all their recently added top hats, but this is too awesome for words.
Also, being able to run around in Towns but it's Wonderland- So freaking cool.

I hate it. it doesn't like inform you of new PM's or trades or profile comments anymore. It's all just on the MyGaia page so you gotta check there. I like it less and less everyday, seriously. n_n
