((Niwa...so I wasn't able to get online Wednesday. Sorry about that! I'll try to make my post a bit long this time to make up for it. Also, not sure if I mentioned it before, but if you guys need to move the plot forward more and I'm around another player character, feel free to automove me, lol. I know how frustrating it is to wait on somebody to post. sweatdrop So...what exactlly is supposed to happen when they're in the garden maze?))

As her main objective was to pretty much hang out with her brother, Shy was at a bit of a loss as to an answer for his question. What to do? They could always people watch but that was more her thing than his and she was pretty sure he wouldn't be interested. So when a lady came up to speak to them Shy smiled and stepped back. The lady could entertain Cole and Shy could either watch or go find something more interesting to do. She'd already seen a different side of Cole tonight than was normal so as far as she was concerned, her goals were fulfilled. Not it was time to find something else to do.

Jo. So that was her name. When Jo mentioned the tall garden Shy let a giggle escaped. Flowers!! She wondered if it was okay to pick some? Mother always smiled when she got flowers! She was more than happy to follow as Cole turned her in the direction of the garden and started walking. Keeping close to them she plugged her earbuds in and turned the music on low. She didn't here him say anything about getting lost or staying close once they were inside and as they passed lots of walls it occured to her there were a lot of flowers to find. She could see so many and they would even tower over Father's head if he'd been there. She didn't know anyone taller than him, though Cole might have been. Father didn't seem to like being around either of his children so she didn't get to seem him often except for dinner time, when he was there.

Cole and Jo were walking a head of her just a little bit ahead of her and it was so easy to get distracted. So when she saw the grey dog from earlier in one of the passages to the left, she eager moved to follow it. When she was almost able to pet him again the dog turned to look at her before barking and running off. Shy didn't even stop to think as she followed the dog, a giggle escaped as it led her through many other passage ways, too many lefts and rights to remember. But it eventually managed to get too far ahead of her for Shy to keep track and she was soon left standing at a four way intersection. Turning back to look at the way she came she felt a little bit of unease and quickly took out the head phones and wrapped them around her neck. Where was she? Where were big brother and his friend?

She was a little scared but it was just a garden right? What could happen? Plus, big brother and his friend, plus a few people she'd seen wondering around earlier were already in here also. She was bound to run into sombody, right? It was too quiet but she was hesitant to put her music back on. Shy didn't really have many friends and her family wasn't a close one, so being along had never really bothered her. But being here by herself made her uneasy and the silence made things all the worse. She hesitated for only a moment before she started to sing, the words soft and more of a whisper than anything as she picked a direction to go, the song getting louder by the minute, as if she were speaking to a person on the other side of the room.

Music had always been her comfort, the one thing she didn't allow Mother and Father or anyone else to dictate. And she used it now to calm herself down as she turned left and went straight. She didn't think about the uneasy feeling at the back of her mind and ignored the tear that slid down her cheek. She was sure to run into sombody. Right?

((I was waiting for you to post again before I moved on. I didn't want to leave anybody behind. But they're all supposed to find the gate that's in the center of the maze.))

Cole continued to wander, aimlessly following Jordan. He wasn't sure how long it was going to take her to find her way out. Perhaps the maze was bigger than he thought? He wasn't sure since he hadn't had a chance to look around the outside before heading straight into it. For all he knew, the thing could be a mile wide. That was a bit unnerving....they'd be in there for hours if it was that large.
He let out a somewhat irritated sigh as he continued to follow. He realized that he hadn't heard anything from Shy since Jordan had showed up, so he turned to see what she was up to. When he found the path behind him mysteriously empty, he stopped dead in his tracks. He watched the last corner they came around to see if she was just a bit behind him but when she didn't show within a few seconds, he realized that they had lost her.
"Jordan," he called, using her full name this time. He didn't look to see if she actually stopped, he just continued to stare at the last few turns behind them. "My sister's gone. She must have gotten left behind somewhere..."
He walked over to one of the nearby turns and looked down it. Empty. He went to another one. Empty. He decided that he wasn't going to get anywhere if he just looked down them, so he turned down one and started walking.
"Hey Shylo!" he called, cupping his hands around his mouth to amplify his voice. Maybe if she was close enough, she'd be able to hear him.

((So frustrating! My net cut off in the middle of my post...now I have to start over again.))

Shy took another corner and followed it down a passage, her singing having died down to a whisper. It was still more to keep herself company than anything else. She wondered how much longer it was going to take to find Cole and Jordan or to run into somebody else. It was a slightly comforting thought to think there were other people in the maze and that eventually she would find them. She stopped walking as she ran into another dead end before biting her lip and turning back, going straight this time and trying not to think about how mad Cole was probably going to be. Thinking about, he was probably going to yell at but then again, she thought she might deserve it this time, for the very least he might be just a little worried. She laughed at that thought and continued to sing under her breath.

She took another right through the tall walls and out of boredom began to recite her multiplication tables. "2x2 is 4, 4x4 is 16, 16x16 is 256..." In the distance she vaguely heard someone yelling and she stopped to listen. She could barely make out what the person was yelling but she was pretty sure it was her name. Which meant it had to be Jo or Cole. That was good. She'd just wait here then until they caught up with her. It wouldn't be that easy though, not without a sound to follow, so she slowly began to sing again, as loud as she could go in the hopes that they would know it was her and know where to go.

Nobody knows who I really am
I never felt this empty before
And if I ever need someone to come along
Who's gonna comfort me, and keep me strong?

We are all rowing the boat of fate
The waves keep on coming and we can't escape
But if we ever get lost on our way
The waves would guide you through another day

Dooku de iki o shiteru toomei ni natta mitai
kudayami ni omoe dakedo mekaku shisarete tadake

inori o sasagete atarashii hi o matsu
asayaka ni hikaru umi sono hate made

Nobody knows who I really am
Maybe they just don't give a damn
But if I ever need someone to come along
I know you would follow me, and keep me strong

hito no kokoro wa utsuriyuku mukedashiteku naru
tsuki wa mada atarashii shuuki de mune o tsureteku

And every time I see your face
The ocean heaves up to my heart
You make me wanna strain at the oars, and soon
I can see the shore

Oh, I can see the shore
When will I see the shore?

I want you to know who I really am
I never thought I'd feel this way towards you
And if you ever need someone to come along,
I will follow you, and keep you strong

She didn't really understand the full meaning of the song, but she thought the lyrics were pretty and so was the original artists voice. It was one of her favorite songs ever and she listened to it frequently, which was why she could sing it without having the music in front of her. Sitting down on the hard ground, she leaned back against the plant wall and tilted her head up to look at the night sky, immersing herself in the music as she waited.

((Cookie for the person who can tell me where the song comes from, lol! Wish I could write music like that...))

((Oh, oh, *raises hand* It's from Bleach isn't it? It's the ending of some of the earlier episodes which I just watched like....a few months ago. It's called Life is Like a Boat by Rie Fu. I have it X3))

Cole continued to call out Shylo's name in hoping that she would hear him at some point. How big was this maze, anyway? The thought had already came to mind, but now it seemed slightly more important. He wandered down path after path, only succeeding in finding quite a few dead ends. This was getting frustrating.
Finally he stopped and let out a long sigh of irritation. Who's brilliant idea was it to make a huge hedge maze in the middle of a garden? What if various animals wandered in there and got lost? They would start acting aggressive because they couldn't find their own ways out and then....if they found anyone wandering the maze they would probably attack them.
Oh boy. Of course, now that that thought was in his head, he felt even more obligated to find his sister. For all he knew, she would try to befriend the snarling little beast only to succeed in getting her head bitten off.
He clenched his fists at his side before starting to call her name again. He stopped when he heard another voice. It was singing, he thought. It sounded like it was still a ways away, but he thought he could pinpoint the direction it was in. He followed it, trying to work his way around the maze's walls. As he drew nearer, he confirmed that it was his sister's voice. He was even able to recognize some of the words to the song. Well, the English ones, anyway.
Finally, he came around a corner to find her sitting in the grass.
"Shylo!" he practically yelled again, attempting to keep his temper down. "Jeez, child, you sure know how to make a hell of a lot of trouble."

((Sorry for the OOC, but I'm going to be gone almost two weeks starting tomorrow. Please don't abandon the role play while I'm gone! I will be back on the 17th, though I won't get on that day. Until then, bye!))

((*Claps* Nice! I really like the song, lol, I just wish I could understand the parts in Japanese! Haha! Also, I'm going to assume Jordan followed Cole? If not, just let me know and I'll edit. XD ))

"Ah!" She jumped when Cole called her name and despite the anger in his voice, smiled. She knew he'd be able to find her. "You heard the song, right? I snuck on mom's computer to download it! Do you like it?" She stood and tilted her head to the side, as if confused by his anger though she really wasn't. "Sorry! I was following an animal and got lost..."

Hmm...probably not the best excuse. But oh well. She wasn't going to lie about it. She grinned again and turned to Jordan. "Hey Jordan, hey Jordan!" She ran to the other girl and grabbed a hold of her arm and jumped up and down like a child. "Didja see all the flowers on the way here? They were so pretty!" There had been Roses and Lily's and Olanders and Orchids and a bunch of others she couldn't even name. Shylo wished she could bring some of them home for Mother, even if Shy couldn't tell her who they were from. She grinned and turned back to Cole.

"C'mon! Let's go find the center already!!"
She started to walk past them, thinking they would follow.

Cole just stared at his sister. He bit his tongue, afraid that if he said anything it would end up being a yell again. He didn't want to blow up again. He just didn't feel like it. He could see that there would be no point. She didn't seem to pay much heed to his earlier scoldings.
He slowly loosened his jaw, still looking at Shylo.
"That's a great excuse," he said flatly. "Unless it's a magical unicorn that can show you the way out of this damn maze, don't go blindly following something with less brains than you, kay?"
Despite the joking manner in his words, his voice sounded rather unamused. He wasn't entirely fond of animals himself save the certain few that interested him slightly. He didn't understand the attraction in them. Most of them smelled and were too stupid to do anything worth while. Or at least that was his view of things.
He glanced back when she shot off towards Jordan and just let out a sigh. He crossed his arms on his chest and glanced up at the sky. If only he could tell their position from the stars like those old sailors....Then again, he wasn't sure if that even worked for small areas.

Jordon was staring at a door, drawn to it as if it was the culmination of her day, or the exact central point of the universe, or something equally dramatic. Her eyes traveled along it, and she reached out her hand to touch it, but dropped it to her side before she finished the motion. She just then looked around, as if waking up. Where were the others? She must have lost them. It occurred to her though, that if she found the center, she might not even know it. Was this it? She stepped away from the door, giving it a surreptitious glance as she stepped away.

She should find the others.

Parker watched the party quietly, leaning back against a statue. It was the usual posh crap and he was wondering if he should just leave. But when he saw a couple of the younger looking people wandering off into one direction, his curosity peaked. What could they be doing all gathering together? The possibility of them all knowing each other was slim to none, after all, none of them looked like they came from this kind of background, espeically the girl who looked no more than 16, as if she hadn't even graduated High School yet.

He grinned and slowly strolled after them all. When he came upon the maze and its empty entrance, he smiled again. He loved puzzles. None of the others were in sight so he simply chose a direction and started walking. It wasn't a big deal if none of theo thers were there; he figured he'd run into at least one of them eventually.

Run into them he did, or rather, her, literally. He grabbed her wrist before his momentum caused her to fall and pulled her gently back up, or at least he tried to. Ultimately whether she fell was would depend on if she was going to try and stop him from helping her. She was relatively tall and her hair was one of the oddest mix of colors he'd seen, green and blue. Still, she was oddly familiar. "Er...sorry."

Shylo watched attentively as the tall guy ran into Jordan. He was big. She grinned and waited silently for Cole to join them, wondering if this was prehaps another one of their friends from school. She didn't hear his comment about not wondering off, in fact, she didn't hear anything he said after he'd joined her again. She was too busy trying to entertain herself.

"Hey, Jordan! We found you!" This really was all a game to her. It was probably the most fun she'd had a good long while and Shy was going to take all the chances she could to enjoy herself.

((Hm...a bit shorter than I'd like, but there's really not that much to reply to...))

Cole shoved his hands into his pants pockets and followed along behind Shylo. She seemed to have a knack for loosing, then finding him again. He really didn't want to go through the ordeal of looking for her once again, so he did his best to keep his eye on her.
When they came around the corner to where Jordan was, he just barely caught a glimpse of the new guy running into her. He would have paid more attention but the odd gate pulled it away. It looked like a door in the middle of the hedges. Somewhat out of place, at that. He was about to turn his attention back to the others when he noticed something strange. The handle that hung loosely from it was moving on it's own accord. There was nothing that he could think of that caused it to move, it just seemed to swing back and forth, knocking against the wood. He stared at it intently for a moment, trying to figure out what could be moving it. It appeared to be made out of metal, so he doubted it was light enough for wind to move it. Even if it was, there wasn't any wind anyway. Perhaps it was hooked up to some sort of machine...But why would it be? He couldn't seem to put his finger on it, but there didn't seem to be any other explanation.
"Where do you think that door goes?" he asked, butting into whatever they had been talking about, if anything. His own curiosity got the best of him and he couldn't hold his question in.

((Wahh...nobody ish posting...))

He let the girl, who he assumed was named Jordan from the reaction of the younger girl, go and turned to the other man. He was maybe a little younger than Parker, but not by much. When the other guy pointed out the door behind them all. The door was ornate, tall and just a little imposing. While the door knob was swinging back and forth, as if of it's own accord, and he walked over to it. He reached out to touch it, running his fingers over the smooth surface. Turning back to the others, he waited for their confirmation. He was all for opening the door and seeing what was behind it, but he wanted to make sure everyone was in agreement. Silently he waited for them.

Jordan was silent, prehaps lost in her thoughts, so Shylo shrugged and turned to watch her brother and the other man. He was tall and over all big and if she hadn't known better than to judge a person by their appearence, she would have been scared of him. But so far he'd done nothing to induce such fear.

She turned to glance at her brother and smiled. "Maybe to the center?" Walking forward, she reached out, grasping the handle and turned back to Cole, waiting for him to object.

Parker was surprised when the youngest of them by far just walked up and grabbed the handle and he was glad when she turned to the other guy. He wasn't sure what was on the other side, but on the off chance it was something harmful he didn't want her to be the first one to approach it. He waited for what he assumed was the big brother to tell her not to open the door.

((I pmed the people who haven't posted in a while like a week ago to tell them that we were trying to move on. Either they haven't been on or....they don't care....>>))

"Wait," Cole protested, reaching his hand out towards his little sister. "We might not want to open that...."
He wasn't sure why he didn't want her to go right out and open the door. Perhaps it was the fact that the handle had been moving on it's own. Maybe it was because it was a random door in the middle of an odd maze. Or it could have just been that his big brother instincts had kicked in. Whatever the reason, he walked over to her, keeping his eye on the door.
At the very top of the thing, there were some carved out letters. It read:
'Say the Magic Word.'
He stared at it for a moment. Say the magic word? What kind of door was this? The words alone had taken his attention off everything else, but he finally came back to reality looking to his sister.
"Move," he said, not waiting to give her a chance to actually move. He grabbed the handle and pulled lightly, trying to open it just a bit so he could peak through. The thing wouldn't budge, however. He stared down at the handle oddly and pulled harder. It still wouldn't move.
"What the hell...." he muttered as he continued to pull. He grabbed hold of it with both hands and pulled harder once again. The door didn't even give way.
"This thing is stuck. Maybe it doesn't have any hinges or something...."

She stepped out of the way before he could push her and stood silently on the other side, watching him and the door. The words carved at the top of the door were pretty and reminded her of a movie she'd seen before, where the only way to open the door was to say a certain word.

A laugh escaped as Cole was not able to open the door but she kept her thoughts to herself. Only when he mentioned the hinges or lack there off, did she speak. "Well, it says to say the magic word." She said it like it was the most obvious thing in the world.

Parker watched as the other guy yanked on the door and yet it didn't budge. Somehow he knew it wasn't a matter of strength to open the door so he didn't offer to help. When the girl mentioned something about a magic word he couldn't help but to laugh inwardly. She was certainly a funny girl. He was about to speak, but she interrupted him.

"What's your name?" she asked, turning her attention from the door and her brother to the tall guy.

"Parker. You?"

"I'm Shylo!" She turned back to Cole, beaming. "So what's the magic word?"
PostPosted: Sun Apr 26, 2009 5:47 pm

Cole looked down to Shylo when she spoke, a slightly irritated look on his face. What was up with things?
"Yes, thank you Sherlock Holmes," he said, almost snapping his words. He let go of the door and took a step back, staring at it. He wanted to open it. Maybe it lead the way out, which was what they needed. His eyes shifted from his sister, to the other guy, apparently named Parker. He let out a sigh, taking another step back.
He looked down at Shylo as she spoke to him.
"Why would I know?" he asked. He didn't know what the 'magic word' was, but he thought the whole thing was stupid, honestly. What kind of door asks for a magic word in order to open? That, and how could a door even respond to a specific word?
Maybe it had a lock or something that was voice activated. He wasn't sure why anyone would want anything like that, but he didn't really know the Robert's family anyway, so they could have been all nut jobs for all he knew.
"Why don't you try it?" he said, not pointing his comment on either of them in particular. It was more of a general comment.

Shy laughed at his Holmes comment and stuck out her tongue but her attention was on the door. "Maybe there's a clue?" she suggested, turning to look around the door.

He took his turn at the door, gripped the handle tightly and pulled, all to no avail. So he tried again. "Damn." When the door still didn't open he let go and stepped back, studying the thing. He really didn't understand; usually this was the kind thing he left to the nerds in his classes.

She giggled again as the taller boy took a turn at the door and it still didn't open. Although she'd thought about looking for a clue she honestly didn't know what one would look like so she didn't even bother, leaving that to her brother and Parker. Speaking of, after he let go of the door she took a step forward and pulled, almost hoping it would open so she could see the look on Cole's face.

((Sorry, I really can't think of anything else to make it longer.))
