"After this war I likely won't be making headlines anymore either." He donned a pair of sunglasses against the noon glare, walking with his hands in his pockets. "Retiring from a playboy is retiring from the public's eye, but I think I can live with less attention. I'll call it my 'ride off into the sunset'."

Pen will be thrilled, I'm sure." Syx glanced at the shades and chuckled slightly, more of a personal joke than anything. "This whole war thing, is it about you? Or about her?"

Eulalia Danae Arch the Angel "After this war I likely won't be making headlines anymore either." He donned a pair of sunglasses against the noon glare, walking with his hands in his pockets. "The war is about a lot of things, a lot of dangerous things and dangerous forces, but despite all that, it's one that's going to be won with military might. The Kore has the stone, but it's my experience that if you shoot something enough times, it will eventually stop working."

"Try taking that logic and shooting into the ocean. Eventually you run out of bullets, and only have a few dead fish to say for it." Syx shook her head. "I'm with you, all the way. I am. But don't put all your hopes on just guns."

"Oh, I said nothing of bullets." Jarred grinned. "You're talking to a weapons designer. Just have to trust me." He came up tot he door of the building. "Seems this is where we part ways. I can see one of my representatives rushing to me now, so I'll see you later then."

She stopped at the door and gave him a lazy salute. "See you for that victory drink."

Eric slumped in his chair, letting the Star's Light blaze past the Kore ships, without a single shot being fired.
"You're right... Bryne's good as dead. Just... Not now... I need to face Jarred." Eric stood, and made his way out of the cockpit, headed towards where Pen had told him to go and get her things to give to Jarred.
Magellan piped up. "I should have expected Piper to come back with Master Eric. Are you sure she is not elsewhere?" ((Just say she is- If she was on the main Kore ship, she'd be dead now, because of the plauge.))

(I gave her a few options by way of escaping from the ship--either on to one of the leaving kore ships or stealing one herself- before the plague was activated. She'd have known when to leave, knowing when the virus would become infective.)
Svarly gave a half smile, attempting comfort. "It wasn't your fault, Eric. I don't know him, but if he could get Gautrine to leave the Kore for him, he must be a good man. I doubt he'd blame you."

((Hattie has the Comm for Jarred, remember? And Piper's stolen a Kore ship, I suppose.))
Hattie nodded. "She had a heart for us, anyways. I'm very sad to see her dead... I really wish I could trade places with her. I've had my number punched for ears. I've just always been one inch in front of the Trainman, I guess." She shrugged a bit and fiddled with her suspenders.

(Hattie's got the recording, but Pen's life log and other belongings are what Eric is going to get. 3nodding ....I think....)
Svarly shook her head at Hattie's comment. "Don't say that. If she had a heart for you, then she wouldn't have wanted that."

((Oh duh! >.< Sorry!))
"Heart or no, Pen didn't deserve what she got. It was sorta my fault.... She got that virus right after the Hooker escapade." She chewed at her lip. "Even worse, because of me, Eric coulda died, too... I already draw myself away from him... Cale said it'll never last cause I love him too much.... Love too strong just destroys people... I just..." She paused. "I'm rambling..." Her eyes were stinging with tears.

((No need to apologize))
"Pen never talked to you much about her Kore days, did she?" Svarly asked going slightly quiet for a moment. "In some perspectives she deserved it and more. She killed a lot of people on the ship, not all of them were good, but some of them were young misguided kids who thought they could get somewhere by joining the Kore. Or they were forced into it from a childhood, like she and I. She killed a lot of people." She glanced at Hattie, "But no, it's not your fault. That's a ridiculous thought. She could have holed herself up and waited for someone to get a nullifier. She didn't have to run in full force and try and take down the Kore by her damned self. She was stupid, headstrong, passionate, and would take unneeded risks, that oddly enough, would usually pay off. Which is why the Kore liked her so much, and why she rose up in the ranks so quickly." Svarly shrugged, "I've tracked her, something I could do with the job I gladly stuck with. I may have not really known her, but I knew what she'd do, what missions she took, and how she handled them. "

Hattie listened and smiled warmly. "You'll find that stupid, headstrong, and passionate run so free here, we could put it on tap." She chuckled at her own bad joke. "I appreciate what you're tryin' to do, but I'll still feel guilty. At least until I square things with my maker." She crossed her arms.
"And I'll kick myself for not demanding Eric stay behind. He's got a whole other life that's better for him than this one. This life is all I got, I guess."

((>.< I totally forgot about Hattie having that. That was actually what I was going for.))
Eric stood in the doorway of her room, before decidingto go elsewhere. He came back onto the bridge ten minutes later with a large bottle of some kind of booze or another in his hand.

((Eric should, at some point, go talk to his wife. >.< ))
Hattie pulled the Comm for Jarred out of the front pocket of her over-alls and looked at the device. She'd delivered bad news before, but never to someone's lover.
