Click to show. The air today was calmer than it had been for a few days, with a blue sky occupied by an abundance of large, slowly-moving, white clouds. With one leg dangling, or rather swaying back and forth over the edge of some levelled ground, Kaisho looked across the massive canyon. His other leg was bent at the knee, allowing his elbow to rest upon it as he held the side of his head in his hand, and for some time he had been seated in this way. Surprisingly, Kaisho had never really visited this place before, and for the first hour or two he was here, he ventured around it with a gaze of awe at its grandeur. To think that this whole area had been modelled from a real canyon in the Living World was amazing, and only piqued Kaisho’s interest in venturing to the world to see splendour such as this for himself. Maybe someday he would, and also, maybe...

“Captain Katsurou, this place...” Kaisho thought, voicing his thoughts aloud to himself. “I bet this was one of your treasures, wasn’t it?” He said, laughing softly for a moment. “Yes, I’m sure it was. Its so magnificent, the stone’s formation just goes to show you how interesting the Living World can be, doesn’t it? It’s no wonder that you chose to reside there after you retired from the Gotei 13. Which reminds me...”

With that, Kaisho looked to the side of him, where his other hand had been planted to maintain his posture. Next to it was a Captain’s haori, the Kanji for his squad’s number surrounded by the trademark Gotei Thirteen rhombus border. He stared thoughtfully at the haori, and then, he leaned back onto the rugged ground, laying face up to look at the passing clouds. It had been a while since the blonde Shinigami became the new Captain of Seventh Squad, and thus the successor to his former Captain, Bullene Katsurou. Kaisho was aware that his former Bullene was planning to pass the baton of leadership to him, even before the acquisition of his Bankai. This was fine, and Kaisho happily accepted to take the reins of Seventh Squad, although there were some questions that the successor wanted to ask his former mentor and superior.

“Why did you leave anyway?” Kaisho pondered aloud. “I don’t think there was anything wrong in you doing so, and you must’ve had your reasons... but... you weren’t exactly an old man. In fact, I reckon that you still had a hundred or more years before you were past your prime.” Kaisho continued on, his last comment making him laugh again. “Ah... just maybe...” He suddenly exhaled, something else springing to mind, somewhat easing the tides of ideas slamming against the walls of his brain. He thought to himself that maybe he was overanalysing the circumstances of Bullene’s retirement, forgetting that within the honour, duty and responsibilities of being a leading figure in the Sereitei, he must have been a man who wanted to enjoy a much simpler life someday. Unless his former Captain was willing to tell him the reason, Kaisho was more than happy to accept that as the answer, for now at least.

With his contemplation time over, Kaisho decided to sit up and gaze across the canyon once more. He peered over the edge of where he sat, before kicking his legs outward to descend alongside the canyon’s edge. Upon his descent, Kaisho shifted his freefall with the use of reishi he gathered underfoot, propelling himself into a number of front flips about halfway down the canyon. The front flips allowed him to get close enough to the edge to push himself off again, and as he did so, Kaisho performed a shunpo, disappearing from eyesight momentarily until he was next seen couching at the foot of the canyon. He stood after a quick breather, looking back at where he had jumped from, which he had to admit was quite a height to attempt, even at his level of competence. “My my, that was a long way down.” Kaisho remarked, patting at his chest and feeling his heart thud with exhilaration. Just then, he had realised something, and blankly stared; he had left his haori up there.
