Keiran frowned in concern, not realizing that Angel had fallen from the tree. He had simply assumed that she had jumped down once she realized Nightwing was nowhere in sight, but apparently neither of them were very good at climbing trees. That completely destroyed his plans for trying to climb onto the Academy's roof.
"Are you sure? Maybe you should see the doctor anyways, because my sisters told me that sometimes you hurt yourself so bad that you can't feel the pain. Nerve damage, or something? I didn't really understand what they were talking about, but I don't think they really understood what they were talking about either. They were probably just repeating what the doctors told them or something," Keiran rambled as he looked at her hand, eyes narrowing in examination for any sign of a scratch or bruise so that he could convince her to see a doctor.
"Maybe Nightwing has been eating too many recruits!" he declared with a sudden look of epiphany, momentarily forgotting that he had been looking at Angel's wrist. Keiran's eyes widened in slight horror as another thought came to mind. "Do you think that's what happens to all those recruits that don't pass their classes or don't bond with a wolf?" He lowered his voice to a whisper again, leaning forward so that only Angel could hear him. "Do you think Nightwing ate them?!"

Angel stayed still and compliant as he examined her hand, a slight smile still there as she ignored some of the pains that were caused by the movement. Her mother was the only other person to give her this kind of treatment when she was younger. Of course, that stopped when she was old enough to start learning how to work. She was about to answer Keiran's concerns about seeing a doctor besides the fact that nothing seemed serious.....until he suddenly had the epiphany of the sadistic wolf possibly eating those who failed.
"I don't think Nightwing likes the taste of failure as much as he does fear," She said with a chuckle, wincing slightly as she moved her wrist a bit, "The recruits that don't pass or don't bond are usually send back to the city as civilians. Basically, they return to a normal life....but it's probably bittersweet." She couldn't imagine what going home a failure was like for those that did leave unfulfilled.
"Maybe I should see a doctor, just to be sure nothing's broken." Angel returned to the subject of her seemingly mild injuries, pulling out a glove from her jacket pocket and shovelling some snow into it so she could use it as a cold compress for the moment. It would hopefully keep any swelling down enough so it could be examined properly. "I should look for my notebook, too. I think I left it back with our snow angels."

Keiran listened intently to Angel's explanation about what happened to everyone who failed to bond at the Academy. He had never known this before because he had never really thought about it, otherwise he would've asked one of his sisters. And honestly, a minute ago, he had really believed that Nightwing perhaps ate them and that was why the wolf was always so morbidly fascinating at chasing the recruits. But now that he thought about it, Angel's story sounded much more logical.
Seeing her wince, Keiran was about to suggest that she see a doctor but she beat him to it. He quickly jumped to his feet as she started stuffing a glove with ice, not knowing what she was planning to do until she pressed it to her wrist. He offered his hand to help her up. "That's a good idea," he nodded towards her ice glove with a grin, as he never would've thought of doing that. "You'd make a good wolfrider."
As an afterthought, he added, "So you won't have to worry about returning to the city as a civilian! My sisters say all the wolfriders they meet are very intelligent, but they also said that many of them don't have common sense." Keiran giggled, remembering how long it had taken them to explain to him what 'common sense' meant. "Let's go look for your notebook then."

Angel smiled brightly when he commented that her idea with the snow-filled glove was a good one, a blush gracing her cold face that made her cheeks turn as red as her nose as a result of his later compliment. She really did hope she'd be a good wolfrider. Injenuity was perhaps going to be her springboard to success.
"Well, I sure hope I'll be a good wolfrider," She commented as she took his hand with her uninjured one, pulling herself up with his help, "And hopefully I won't have to trade in my common sense for pride, like it seems most of them have." She grinned a bit as she nodded to him.
"Yeah, I hope I didn't drop it in the snow. I don't want the pages to get wet." She started walking back the way they came........or at least, the way she thought they came. It was hard to find their footprints in the expanse of white.

Keiran prodded along after Angel, trusting her to take them in the right direction since he wasn't very coordinated himself. Which would probably be a problem since wolfriders were expected to know their territory like the back of their hand, or so he'd been told. Then again, it wouldn't be hard to navigate around the academy since it was really just one large building.
"My sisters are very smart," he remarked with a grin, quite proud of them and the fact they hadn't let their profession get to their head - or at least he didn't think they had. Keiran then realized that Angel was probably referring to Adrian, and he laughed. "I heard the Drill Sergeant was a really good wolfrider back in the days... maybe that's why he thinks he's so good." But now... "he's so old."
Keiran scrunched his face, suddenly having an image of an old and wrinkled Drill Sergeant walking around with a cane as he yelled at the recruits with a mouth that had no teeth. He shuddered at the creepy image. Fortunately, seeing such old people nowadays was rare and people found it to be such a blessing to be able to live that long. Personally, Keiran didn't know if he wanted to live long if he was going to look like that in the end.

Angel smiled back to him as she eventually saw their shoe imprints in the snow, following the kicked up path of their absolute terror. Looking back on it, knowing that Nightwing hadn't even been following them, it was hillarious.
"I bet your sisters will make good wolfriders then, if they're smart," She said to him as she looked around the ground for any sign of her notebook just yet, "Yeah, Drill Sergeant is old....but most people would call that 'experienced', which is why he's still here. There's a method to his madness........I hope."
She grinned back at Keiran, then looked up as they got closer to the building. Closer to the wall she had been sitting against, she saw a brown square halfway in the snow.
"Ah, there it is!" She ran closer, picking up the book with her good hand and looking it over quickly. "Whew, doesn't look like it got too wet. Should be able to dry pretty quickly and no damage since the only wet pages are blank ones."
She looked rather happy at this discovery, and rather relieved.
