Micheal Seth Adrian

Seth felt the paper hit his foot and thought, wow, she's a great shot. Unfurling it as he picked it up he read it. Chuckling he scribbled “Mmm, we'll see. We've only just met the guy, there may yet be a ogre lurking under there. I know what you mean, this show won't be the best we've ever done. We'll just have to make our own sparks right?” He decided that with all the notes flying around it'd be better to start being discrete. So he went with a golden oldie, he told the guy next to him to pass it on. Sitting back in his seat he heard one of the sax players, Kari he thought, ask about giving the guard golden kazoos. He tried picturing it and the image made him laugh. “Sorry,” he said, “How about a duet or a solo in the show? It'd go well with the show's theme.”

David turned when he was asked the question about the kazoos. He thought for a second before answering. "I don't think it will fit the show. But maybe sometime in the future, if we have a show that could use it." He rolled his eye as he saw the paper balls flying through the class, but he didn't really care, as long as they didn't do it while playing.

Amy grabbed the paper from the floor and opened it again. Dude! She had his number. David Carpenter was her new Director and she got Nate's phone number! Best week ever? Um, yeah, pretty much. She dug her phone out of her pocket and imputed the number. "Cool. Can't wait." She wrote back before throwing him the note.

She sent him a quick text saying "Boo", just so he would have her number too.

Kari frowned at Seth's duet comment. "Aren't Phantom of the Opera and Anastasia tied?" She asked, glancing up at the board. Either that, or Anastasia would win. The duet thing was a horrible idea. Because the only girl that'd be picked would be, like...a flute player. Or maybe a clarinet or trumpet. Something high and feminine and attractive. Not a Bari Sax, like Aggy. And certainly not the youngest member of the band, like herself.

“That is true, it's three to four right now and it looks like Anastasia's going to slay the Phantom but, I think the duet might still work. I mean, Anastasia has its romantic aspects too. You should choose the instrumentation for that but, I think having at least one of the players be a stringed instrument would make it novel.” Leaning back in his chair he shrugged, “Twas a thought...”

Noticng his cell vibrate, Nate pulled it out and checked it. The message just said boo but he already knew who it was from. Nate faked being scared just to see if she would laugh. after saving teh number Nate realized what Seth had said. "No offense, and not trying to shoot you down or anything Seth, but what voice would fit with the string instruments? Plus which string would you chose?"

Adalyn grabbing the note from the nearest trombone was blatantly obvious since sheh ad to stand up and walk over to them for it. Glancing up at eh board, she saw Phantom of the Opera and Anastasia were tied. Oh, what the hell. "Can I change my vote to Phantom?" she called, shrugging. No one else would switch their votes, and it didn't really matter which they played, she would still get bored. Sitting back down, she opened the note aand read it, laughing when she heard one girl, Kari, she thought, asked if the Guard coudl have Kazoos. "Great, painful and annoying." she said, loud enough for everyone to hear her comment. Grabbing her pen, she scribbled back. I hope not. Mr. Cooper was a beast during marchign season. But he did design a wicked show. If we get the band together some we could probably suggest some things for the drill. Tossing it back, it landed in his lap this time after soaring over a tuba and three of the trombone players heads.

Kari never really liked Adalyn anyway. Being as mature as she was, Kari turned to stick her tongue out at the percussionist girl, before turning back forward. Great. Now Phantom of the Opera was going to win, which totally sucked because everyone does that show. How cliche could you get?

Looking at Kari, Nate thought to himself, 'I know she's young but she could be a little more mature.' But now Phantom of the Opera was sure to win. And he was fine with that, Nate did love the bass line to it. And just maybe the show wouldn't totally suck. Plus now he had Amy's number. Ao all was right with the world. But he still couldn't put his finger on who this teacher was. Or what he was capable of. Why was the name David Carpenter so familiar to him?

((Wow xd . This band is nothing like my school's. Flying papers of death. Cross-section flirting. Phantom of the Opera. Weird xp ))

For the first time in the since Mr. Carpenter's new reign of the class did Amy speak up.
"Photo is almost nothing but stringed instruments guys. Besides, I can play them all so it doesn't really mater which we pick. And voices harmonize better with stringed instruments than they do with band." She looked down at her phone when it vibrated. She read his reply, a fake scream and laughed lightly before texting back "Hah! I scared you biggrin "

He was glad the students where starting to pay a bit more attention, despite the notes.
"Anastasia would be a little longer because it would be more story. Everyone knows Phantom so it would be more emphases on the songs. For either, we would get singers, hooked up to lapels, choreographed in and singing the vocals."

Looking down at his phone, Nate chuckled softly. after replying with "Hows dinner tonight?" He noticed that the class was talking again. "When I said voices I meant instrument voices. A director at honors band told me that you must treat a band like a choir, and treat each instrument as a different voice. The tubas as the basses, trumpets and trombones as the tenors. Clarinets are altos and Flutes are sopranos. When each of these voices mix together they create a beautiful story, much like a choir. That is what I meant when I asked about the voices." Nate wondered if he showed off a little bit there. However it was true. That is what Dr. Stamp had told him. and that is how Nate views a band.

"But Phantom of the Opera's so overdone!" Kari complained with a sigh. "And why would we have a choir? This is Marching Band-not Marching Everything Else." At least her Kazoo idea would have been funny. "We shouldn't have it too dancey-not like West Hollow's last year. It was like they just gave their color guard a bunch of instruments and set them out on the field!." The amount of people not paying attention in band, and not being creative enough to go for the challenge of Anastasia, or even Romeo and Juliut, was seriously starting to disturb Kari. There were even people text messaging! Even if that Amy-whats-her-face could play all of the string instruments, like she'd said, and Seth stopped flirting with every girl he saw...there was no way they'd be disciplined enough to actually win anything.

Now it is time to get serious. "Kairi. Stop Complaining! Last year with Mr. Cooper was great but if we focus we could blow any other performance of Phantom of the Opera out of the water. All we need to do is focus. I know you wanted Anastasia but think about it. This year's show could be one of the best shows ever at this school. I agree with you comment about being too dancey, but it doesn't have to be that. Think of what we could do if we work together. Oh and I'm sorry if you thought I was yelling. I just get like this when I'm excited. Which was true. Nate just realized who their band director really was. And now he wasx confident that they could do anything.

(sorry if it sounds like im yelling here. I'm just excited right now.)
