Inane Whimsies roseofmalice I honestly don't think Death Note should be an anime, but if it were I definately agree with Keiji Fujiwara playing Matsuda... (I'm partial to Fujiwara because he did a wonderful job with Maes Hughes.) Why don't you think Death Note should be an anime? I don't think any studio could really do it justice. But, I think I could get used to watching it if it were to become one.

Death Note in comparison to other manga is rather quirky. It could be utterly screwed up without much effort.

There's always the chance that the anime might be polluted with less-than-stellar fillers and incompetent voice actors. Plus, I simply adore Obata's paneling, use of expression and plain black and white to tell the story and create different atmospheres, and those aspects of a manga are usually lost when they're animated. Not to mention when most shounen manga turn anime the female characters tend to be wussified o_o Like, seriously, I've seen cool manga chicks turn into damsel-in-distress cliches once they hit tv D': One also has to keep in mind that DeathNote is a plot-driven manga, and the action in it is secondary to the dialogue. The whole point of animation is to show movement, and while I would love to stare at Light's lovely lips moving for half an hour I'm sure most people wouldn't. Thus, dialogue would inevitably be cut or altered, and in a story like this, where even details are crucial to the storyline, that can't be done.
But, my unconditional love for DeathNote would force me to buy the anime, whether or not it lives up to the manga *-*

I still want to see a Death Note anime, because I love the magna so much.
Even with all the dialogue, they could still manage to pull it off in different ways. Well, maybe not with all of Raito's dialogue. But L's wouldn't be as bad since he does different little odd things while thinking.

Light tends to kinda brood, but L stacks sugar cubes when he talks. xd If a Death Note Anime came out, I would be so uber-happy, and if it's a good anime, then I'll be all the happier. Sure, some anime are kinda messed-up and not as good as the manga, but I think by benefit of the doubt and believe that an anime is a good one until proven otherwise. biggrin

Me thinks that a live action movie would be nice. Me thinks it would be better than an anime.

NamaeX Which company do you think would be best to animate it? Who would you want to voice for it in English/Japanese? I think the guys that worked on Full Metal Panic - The Second Raid should animate it. After all, I already saw L ride across the screen on a bicycle in one of the FMP episodes. I'd choose... JapaneseKenichi Suzumura (Zack from Advent Children) - Raito Shoutarou Morikubo (Kadaj from Advent Children) - L Yumi Kakazu (Yuffie from Advent Children) - Misamisa Kenji Nomura (Loz from Advent Children) or Masahiro Kobayashi (Barret from Advent Children)- Ryuuk Keiji Fujiwara (Reno from Advent Children) - Matsuda Tohru Ohkawa (Rufus Shinra from Advent Children) - Watari Shougo Suzuki (Vincent Valentine from Advent Children) - Souichiro Yagami English CastDave Wittenburg (Michael Lee from Witch Hunter Robin) - Raito Amanda Winn Lee (MiMiRu from .hack//SIGN) - Misamisa or Sayu Richard Epcar (Batou from Stand Alone Complex) - Ryuuk Brianne Siddall (Tsukasa from .hack//SIGN) - Near The people who animate the best anime's like FMA, Naruto, and Samurai Champloo are Mad House and Studio 4 degrees I would want those studios to animate it If they don't though I would like to try (I am planning on amimating it soon anyway) sweatdrop although it will take a while...
