=^_^= Thanks! It's actually a Welsh fable, celebrated on the Winter Equinox with a huge festival. We're not sure when it started, exactly, or what it even used to originally mean, but what usually happens is a person mounts a horse skull on a pole, attaches a white sheet beneath the skull to shroud themselves, decorates the skull with ribbons and beads and bells, and there's a parade through town. They sometimes even have the jaw of the skull spring-loaded so they can snap it at the crowd. The parade stops at houses and inns and pubs - they sing traditional witty songs and have a riddle or witty banter contest until someone loses and they're either allowed inside or turned away.
The book I originally got the idea from, though, a character had seen it when he was very young and had gotten snapped at, so he was terrified of the thing, and they used it as a sort of fiendish monster keeping him from completing his task.

Cool. o: I kinda figured it was Welsh, since no one else uses "w" as a vowel. lol

XD It's kinda true.
There's the big white space down sorta under the front hooves, and I wasn't sure what to do with it. I finally settled on putting a person down there with their back toward the viewer, cowering away from the Mari Lwyd, with an arm flung up. But do you have ANY idea how hard it is to find a good reference shot for that? D:

Well I think it's awesome how it is. :3 But yeah, references can be difficult sometimes. I've been known to take my own on occasion. XD;

I was going to do something separate for this, but now that I think about it, 'pale' suits something I recently did anyway.

Just some half-assed fanart of Ghost from the book Lost Souls. And.. he's really, really pale, like a ghost. :P (I wouldn't mind critique, if anything looks really out of place. Like, if the shoulder looks dislocated, or if the torso's too long, or stuff like that. And goddamn, I really need to learn a different way to draw eyes. That's the only part of this drawing that really irritates me.)

It looks really good! Totally believable as him. :3 The only thing that seems slightly odd to me is the chest area, the triangle inside the bent arm. I'm not sure why though. D: And that's only after intentionally looking for something to critique. XD;

Hee... Thanks, Szen, I appreciate the praise. ^____^ heart I was kinda thinking about maybe getting someone to help me take a few references for it... Maybe I will.
Kilehye - Ooo! Neat! I actually really like the close eyes. He looks sleepy. The only thing that bothers me is the hand. It's vague enough that I had a bit of trouble figuring out how it fit in with his neck and face. But that may be because I'm a dork. d:
I've not heard of that book - who's it by and what's it about?

I've been beeeeezy. D:
And I can't find any tape . . .
I did something a few weeks ago that would be perfect for this, but it has to have light behind it for the full effect. I want to tape it to a window and take a picture of it.
I'll have it soon. :'D
ALSO. You guys are fantastic. D:

XD; Ah yeah, I had trouble wondering how to shape that part, I don't know how the collar of the sweater would look from such an angle. The only clothing folds I like doing are arms, I'm totally lost as far as any of the rest of the torso goes. XDIfailedmywillsave Kilehye - Ooo! Neat! I actually really like the close eyes. I've not heard of that book - who's it by and what's it about? That's good, lol, 'cause he's supposed to be sleeping. XD Haha, yeah the hand is really ambiguous, I should've defined it a bit more. The book's by Poppy Z. Brite. It's fantasy/horror/erotica pretty much, you can read a bit from it here.
And thanks everyone. x3
