Lai wasn't sure if his speech would rouse any interest, and that worried him greatly. He was about to do another sweep of the gathered recruits when Johannes spoke up. The Russian turned to the man and at his first words a glimmer of a smile flitted briefly on his face. Someone agreed and that was one in his favor. His smile faded as he nodded at the next words about Audun's weapon.

"This is true comrade, on all of what you say." He paused to think, his mind still racing. "Obviously being careful would be a top priority, especially with the doppelganger. I do not think a mannequin would be effective, this man is intelligent. Mad, yes, but also intelligent. I fear using a mannequin would result in a failure on the ambush and put everyone involved in finding him in danger." He turned to Alberto as the man approached, listening to his words as well. Again at the agreeing to his idea a ghost of a smile appeared that faded rapidly.

"We need to get as much information as we can about this man and the weapons he has at his disposal." He turned to Einar, his eyes filling with worry as the man sat in his own blood (he wondered where Shee was of course) but that stubbornness to help him was there as well. "We will need you to tell us all that you can about him Einar. Where he is, who he is, is he multilingual, what weapons he has at his disposal and, for the research team, what the name or the number of the bullet that pierced you is called." Lai knew that all weapons, especially guns, were given special numbers for themselves and the ammunition they used. If the research team had that number they could better and more effectively search for it.

"If we have that name and number for the gun and its bullet those who are searching may be able to find it easier. If it was made, there is history on it and surely the cure to the illness it spreads would be written as well." He was drawn to look at Archer as the British man spoke again. "Your help would be most gracious comrade." His mind flew back to thinking. "Clearly this doppelganger will have to be as convincing as possible and he will have to be a blond." A sweep to see three blond men; Archer, Johannes, and the Father who had just shown up escorting Abel. "I do not think a wig will work, if it slips we are in trouble, but I do not thinking speaking on the actor's part will be required."

The Russian's hand flew to his chin, thinking, thinking, thinking. Ideas were pouring in and Lai was working this all out, scenarios coming and going. His mind was so into this process that he almost did not hear Hyo. His eyes flicked to the girl and he nodded, reaching out to pat her on the head.

"You can help Miss Hyo, everyone who can lend a hand can help." He withdrew his hand and looked around again. This time instead of a speech he asked a question. "Does anyone have a pen and a piece of cloth or paper we can use to make lists? I think right now it would be best to quickly break off everyone into three groups; Research, Medical, and of course Retrieval. Someone will have to volunteer to be the doppelganger, it is risky but it is necessary for an ambush, get him when he thinks we are complying." The Russian turned back to the Norwegian on the floor just as Lokiari had made her last remarks to the blond man. Even if Einar quarreled or spat acid words at him, Lai's mind was made up. He was going to go after Audun and he was hopefully going to have a team with him as well. Einar had to live...

"There should probably be some requirements for the retrieval team," He said, turning back to the group. "Audun is military, so we will need people who are strong, fast, have cunning, and/or have some combat skills. This team will have to be a decent size, but the research team should be larger; if there are more people in the library there is a less likely chance of something getting overlooked. Medical team obviously needs those with medical skills."

Archer bit his lip and nodded gravely as the recruit who had first come up with the plan spoke. "If it may be of any use, I have had a bit of experience in close combat. I was part of an amateur police force in London for a while after time broke." Not long after time broke, not long before he had joined LOTUS, but he had been in a few scraps. And he had been keeping fit and practicing. A gentleman who desecrated the temple that was his body did not deserve the title. "If I am not needed elsewhere, I feel I could be of some small use to the retrieval team." His brown eyes flitted up to his blonde bangs and he added, "One way or another." He frowned and clenched his fists. Usually he would not be so forward about where he would like to help, but the voice on the radio had been so coarse, rude, and heartless. The Code of Chivalry clearly stated to hunt down evil in all its foul forms and Archer felt that that voice might just fit the bill. "As for other skills, I can fence decently, and I'm fairly light on my feet." He doubted the job required fencing, but it did sharpen one's reflexes wonderfully. "I am sorry if I am being forward, and if my help is needed elsewhere, I will certainly oblige." He gave a curt nod and looked around at the other recruits, at the worry etched on everyone's faces. This wasn't right. If the villain was going to challenge LOTUS, he should have done it some other way, not with a bloody body, not with a fellow member lying bleeding on the Atrium floor. Archer's lips thinned into a grimace. This wasn't how it was supposed to be, and he felt a tad angry that it was happening this way despite propriety.

Del sighed to herself. Her panic had died down some when she heard a plan. It was quite a intelligent plan to herself as she would never have thought of it. "Who we use?" she asked, though she was unsure of herself if the plan was concrete. Drumming her fingers together, Del felt feverish on the inside once again. She knew that this bad guy had to be taken down. It happened in all those books with the colored panels of talking people with weird powers. Unfortunately, this was real life. The evil villain could not be taken down by destroying their machine that is going to make the world explode. Del bit her bottom lip at the thought. There was probably going to be blood. Maybe more than what was floating in the pool in the middle of the atrium. Del wouldn't like that at all. But that mean person hurt a part of her new family, no matter how objective she was to Einar's stubbornness. This "Audun" character had to be taken down.

"If you guys seriously think a bait and switch would work, then I'd like to remind you all that he's already shot me once. What's to make you think that he wouldn't do again, only this time aim for the head instead of the torso? I applaud you all for thinking of something so quickly, but you don't know him at all, nor do you know the reasons why I just didn't simply ask for the cure when I was there to begin with. All of you here. . .you know nothing."

Einar had been quiet where he sat on the floor, his thoughts mostly rumbling back and forth on to how he could prolong this and he could try to keep the others safe, but he finally spoke up when it seemed they had gotten together a rag-tag plan.

While of course it all sounded wonderful in theory, and while it could have worked if they were dealing with someone entirely different and not a clinically insane man with easy access to firearms, Audun wouldn't fall for it. There were just too many things that the two men knew about one another, entirely too many, for him to ever mistake someone else as the blond Norwegian.

"If you really want to know who Audun is, he's my childhood friend - probably my only friend. We grew up together back in my home town and when he was drafted into the war, he took me along with him. We were in different units at first, him in the foot soldiers and I in the navigation and flying fleets, but he started making trouble whenever I wasn't around him. Little things at first, like going AWOL for a few hours or simply being insubordinate, but when we were parted for a longer time things got worse. He started to torture the prisoners of war for fun, claiming he was doing it for information on my whereabouts, but when they couldn't tell him anything he turned on several of his platoon mates, as well as a co-worker of mine."

Einar seemed to look uneasy as he remembered the incident, the call that had come to him over the radio the night it had all occurred. Audun had gotten hold of a man who worked with Einar, one who had stopped in the area for a refuel and to deliver a message, and had promptly tortured him to death while trying to get him to talk about where the blond currently was. The army didn't discipline Audun, in fact they praised him for having an outstanding skill at interrogation, and he was promoted up.

And Einar was brought to his side, and into the mouth of the war. That's when things changed.

"You guys may think you have a chance against him, but you won't win if you think ahead and make plans. He's not the type of person to plan things out either, he's the type who would rather shoot you dead and talk to your corpse instead. He has no rhyme or reason for what he does, other than wanting me at his side and wanting anyone that isn't him dead and from my side. Coming to LOTUS was like a declaration of war against him, with me swearing I wasn't going to go back."

He didn't realize how much he'd been talking until a heavy cough came across his chest and echoed sickly, the sound wet with what probably was a coming tide of blood. He managed to keep it down, to save his appearances for now, but he had to keep talking and explain the situation.

"That's all for Audun, as for what's with me now...I was shot with a bullet known as the NK-VB2, or the proper name of 'Norwegian Kemuel - Viral Bullet secondary'. It's a bullet made for the sole use of torturing an opponent to death, or shooting those who are trying to flee when they must not be allowed to live."

He touched his side where the bullet had entered, the wound not leaking blood nearly as badly as before, probably because he had nothing really left to give. The wound was shallow, probably not more than two inches into his torso, but it was more that enough for the purposes intended by Audun when he squeezed the trigger.

"Once the bullet makes contact with the body it enters and liquefies, releasing a toxic virus into the blood that quickly moves into all major organs. Over the course of thirty-six hours those said organs are destroyed and usually bled out or vomited up, depending on the nature of the wounds on the inflicted person's body. There is no real cure, only a simple antidote of sorts - and even with that the survival rate only increases from 45% to about 50%."

What else did he need to say? Had he covered everything enough to make them understand? Einar couldn't think anymore, his chest was hurting him now from merely sitting up like he was, and he longed to lay down. If he didn't move around so much, the virus didn't spread as quickly. If he was able to drink salt water and get more blood into his veins, he could maybe make his vital organs last a little longer . . .

And he could listen to him a little longer. And see him.

"I...salt water. I need salt water - and type O- blood. I've already told Shee to go off and get them, but she's taking too long for my tastes. If you all really want to help me out, start by doing that."

Rounding upon the atrium, she saw more people had gathered around Einar. As it was, she couldn't see through the crowd to assess his situation. Groaning as she pulled the bag slung over her shoulder higher (it had been slipping due to weight), she hoped she hadn't forgotten anything.

"Out of the way!" Pushing unceremoniously through the knot of people, she thought she wasn't acting like herself at all. But it was an extraordinary situation; extraordinary situations required extraordinary responses. She had just arrived in time to hear the tail end of Einar's statements. Type O-... it figured.

She was now standing beside Einar, who was looking worse than before, and also sitting in his own blood. "Hey, I thought you had been in the military! Don't they teach you anything there?" She motioned for him to get up. "You're going to get infected if you stay there."

She noticed that Lokiari had begun to set up a place where they could treat Einar. Silently thanking no one in particular that there was someone present that had some medical knowledge, Shee set down the bag beside the spread out bathrobe and began removing things from it. First things first, she thought, as she snapped on a pair of latex gloves. An IV bag with saline solution had been taken out and was lying on the floor beside a mess of catheters and a few cannulas. She had also brought along a long tube which was packaged and printed with "FAST 1". As she rummaged through the bag and continued to empty it's contents, she addressed the recruits, without taking her eyes off what she was doing. "Anyone a type O-?"

Numerous bandages and gauze were removed, as well as tape and a smaller bag of syringes. Finally, she removed various bottles, some of which skittered across the floor as they rolled on their sides. Morphine, ketamine, chlorhexidine, spironolactone. She had grabbed only what she thought was necessary.

She had also brought along a little spray bottle, which she now grabbed and squeezed, spraying the bathrobe. "Einar! Hurry up."

User Image Another heavy monologue. He was talking a lot for someone who was dying, Hyo noticed, and when another round of coughing blood started, the man must've noticed it too.

Hyo didn't understand much from the whole thing. He only understood that it was important. So without thinking about the things the man wants, and why he needs them, he decided to get the one he knew where to get.
"Sart-water. I go."
Saying only that, he turned around and run to the kitchen, getting the biggest bowl he could carry full, filling it with water, and adding salt. Lots and lots of salt. Practcally all salt he could find.
And then he turned around to get it to the dying man.
Hopefully this will do.

Standing there dumbly, Rodney had tried to take in the situation - and he had more than a clear enough understanding to have reached a determination of what the plans were. They were plotting a bait and switch, which had sounded brilliant until the sudden description of the man. Someone without a plan would be hard to counter - how did anyone strategize about the unpredictable?

"So, devising a plan won't work against him?" He had squinted for a moment. "Then ... There needs to be some unpredictability. If he expects anything, do something different. If he's running or wanting something like I'm hearing, then wouldn't he expect someone to go after him?" Rodney's lip had quirked anxiously with the thought of a bullet intended to torture. It wouldn't be safe at all, in any way, to do a bait and switch, however clever or strategic it may have been otherwise. "Still. Someone should find this guy, right? The one who shot ..." He had stared at Einar, fidgeting when he couldn't drum up a name. It didn't matter. "At least keep an eye on him or get an idea of what he's doing right now, right? There might be an opening somewhere. He can't be on guard all the time, right? Just a small group to go watch him, but not to approach, especially if he'll shoot and ask questions later..."

Mokoyis was completely oblivious of the emergency occuring in the atrium. In fact she had spent much of the current crisis in her bedroom talking to her cat, and had only emerged because- like Lai- she was heading for the kitchens; though she was hungry, not in the mood to cook.

After the silence of her quarters the commotion in the atrium was similar to the crowds that gathered for Sundance, or a celebration of a war party. She blinked and paused in the doorway a moment trying to dicepher exactly what was going on. She had caught the last few words from Einar about blood. He needed blood? Was it for a sacrifice? If so his own blood was probably best. She took a step closer to tell him this when she noticed the red puddle surrounding him. That was a very good reason to be asking for someone elses blood.

Obviously the man was hurt. She didn't know who is was, though judging from the reaction she assumed he was a recruit, not a stranger. She barely noticed Shee brushing past her as she slowly approached as well.

She moved up beside Lokari- the only one she recognized in the crowd...except perhaps the girl with the strange name from the library- and watched Shee's minstrations. A sterile place to lay the man out on, and medical equipment. None she recognized, but she couldn't think of anything else it could be. She didn't bother asking for an explaination about the man or what blood type was. She just volunteered her arm "You can have my blood if it will help."

He elbowed the brunette man forward, but gently; the other man seemed kind of jumpy. "Aidez-le," said Asmadai as he hoped quite fervently that he was using the proper conjugation, "et aidez-la, aussi; aidez-le à... se déplacer au... peignoir? Sil vous plait."

Then, clearing his throat, he said, "You're right. But there still need to be enough people to have a chance of overpowering him..." And they couldn't spend too much time thinking over who would go. Time would be getting short- he didn't know how long Einar had left, having missed earlier monologues, or where exactly anything was going, but he did know it had been a while since the Norwegian's return.

"First, we need to decide who is going where and especially if Einar is returning to... where-ever. Do we have the facilities to formulate any cure that he might need here?"

Del took more notice to what the blond said this time. They were apparently childhood friends and he shot him with a torturing bullet, whatever that was. But it really did piss Del greatly to hear that he would do such a thing. They were suppose to be friends. But it made Del question herself, why would anyone want to be friends with someone who had such a sadistic attitude? The world was much more crazy than Del expected it to be. Del drummed her fingers together again, not wanting to ask anymore questions. The female with the long black hair went to go fetch the salt water, so Del could stay put. But it was still irking at her. Were they going out to fight? Hearing something about blood, Del offered her arm also. She wasn't sure of her blood type. Hell, she didn't even know blood had types. But if hers were to help, she probably had a chance to be useful for a change.

Archer chafed at this new development- In Archer's mind a villain that not only was cruel and insane, but also unpredictable, mindlessly violent, and a tad obsessive was just wrong. Archer felt the urge to just go over to this 'Audun', tackle him to the ground gentleman style, and shake him until he gave up.

Of course, it never seemed to be that easy, and though Mr. Einar had said not to make plans, Archer didn't think that was the sort of spontaniety that was going to work. He watched as a young lady went for salt water and various people proffered their arms. He didn't know what his blood type was and doubted it was O anyway, so he could not offer his assistance there.

Archer looked at Rodney, the unfamiliar LOTUS member's suggestion intriguing him. "What sort of opening would we be looking for?" he asked, thinking perhaps that maybe there would be a good sounding out of evil after all. "Do you think he would leave this antidote around somewhere, perhaps?" It didn't sound like the dastard, from Einar's description.

Lai was gung-ho about his idea but as Einar started to talk the Russian whipped around to hear what he had to say. And his spirits sunk. What had been a brilliant idea in Lai's head had clearly no applications in the physical world. Curses in his native tongue resounded in the corners of his skull but faded quickly so Lai could still hear Einar speak.

As the Norwegian mentioned that Audun was his friend, a fire started in his chest. A friend should not do that to his the one he calls 'friend' or to other people, regardless if they were prisoner or co-worker. Lai shoved that idea from his mind and continued listening. The uneasy look on Einar's face made Lai want to take the man in his arms and just hold him, to take the pain away, but he knew he must not touch the Norwegian now. Instead, he knelt down and listened, nodding to the words.

No plans...This man is unpredictable...Dammit...The one time Sasha could be of some decent help...

When Einar started to cough Lai flinched and resisted the urge to touch his arm. His form twitched, but nothing more. The name of the bullet echoed in his head and he started to mouth it to remember the name.

"NK-VB2...NK-VB2..." A low mumbling, no louder than he could here. "Norwegian Kemuel-Viral Bullet Secondary..." The explanation of what the bullet was used for and how it spread the virus made him flinch again and sadness began to sink in. Sadness, but not hopelessness. The mention of an antidote and the raised percentage, even if it was only five percent, kept that at bay. The odds were still good, and Einar was a stubborn man after all, if they got the antidote or found it Lai knew he could still survive. He turned his head as Hyo ran off for water and Shee came back, forced away by the small woman to his feet and back near Archer. At Shee's question he shook his head.

"I am 'A' positive." Einar had the rarest of blood types, but wasn't there a universal donation type? Of all times not to know something! When Rodney, a man he did not know, spoke up, Lai turned his attention to the man. He found himself thinking, nodding a bit, before turning his attention to the woman who offered her blood and then the Father. He agreed with the priest.

"Like I asked before comrades, does anyone have anything we can write down who is doing what with? And we can write the name of the bullet down as well for those who will be in the Research group." He still intended to go, ambush or surveillance or whatever and they were slowly wasting time. Things needed to be done and done now! "Splitting into groups would still be a good idea for this, even if we do not attack the man, only survey...

"It's like hunting."

Rodney had spoken clearly, grasping his bangs as he thought. He had risen on his toes, only to fall back on the flats of his feet, teetering like a little boy who was reacting to having hit his head on something powerful, and perhaps overwhelming. He had inhaled a few breaths before easing over.

"Animals are unpredictable. They'll run any which way, without any thought or pattern. They're just moving away from what they perceive to be a conflict, and if they're aggressive, they'll strike." His hand had lowered over his face. "You have to be careful because of that. There are some animals that could topple you in an instant with weight alone; that's why you look for an opening - a way to catch them off guard. The minute they drop it, you fire." He had paused, imagining the idea of a gun. Hunting people or imagining a scenario the way he would imagine hunting was almost obscene. "... In this case ... He has something, doesn't he? T-that thing. That gun... So that's like weight. He could topple someone, and it'd be over. But if someone caught him off guard and immobilized him long enough to get the gun away, wouldn't it be possible to catch him, to bring him here?"

He had tensed again suddenly, glancing off in the direction of Lai. He had heard the man mention skills. Cunning. Strength. "What we need is someone who can work a gun with good aim. Enough to hit a leg, both legs ... A number of shots." Rodney was beginning to imagine an overbearing monster that would eat them alive.

"... On second thought... Maybe that isn't such a good idea after all. Shooting him." He had drooped, almost disheartened. What else would they do, though? Time seemed to be moving. There was a cure mentioned - he was almost positive the Audun had it. "In small numbers, it might be secure - three might work, any more and there might be invisibility issues - it'd be easier to get caught. But it's still ... Uhm... I-It's still... Maybe with an escape route and someone manning an escape, but if he can take a bullet ..."

He had shaken his head, pausing when Lai had began to speak. There were a number of faces he had never seen before, but he was listening - and wise words had been uttered. "You're right. Writing this down is a good idea. We need paper and a pen. I-I'll go get it! One minute!"

Rodney had jumped, scrambling away from the crowd rather quickly. He was a fast runner, though undoubtedly trippy the whole way along. It had taken him a while to make his way back to his room, but he had found it, fortunately, and made it back within a quick bit of time, lugging along with him paper and a pencil, though the paper was partially crumbled and mildly scribbled on. It was in well enough condition to work.

Help carry the robe? Moving the man with the eye patch now would probably do him more bad than good. Didn't anyone realize that? Moving him more than necessary could lodge the bullet deeper into the wound and affect more organs. Or whatever it was he was bleeding here for. Abel massaged his temples. The loud voices were starting to give him a migraine and a look of irritation was evident on his face. This was why he preferred the confines of his room and the solitude of the library.

"Anyone a type O-?"

While Abel couldn't understand the first part he had a pretty good understanding of what she was asking for. Anyone with O- get your butt over here so I can get some blood. Folding up the sleeve to his uniform he turned to look at Asmadai.

Scratching quickly on the sketchpad page these were the words written. He had already forgotten about Asmadai's talk of helping lift Einar to another room. Or rather it was pushed into the confines of his mind as another matter came up.

Demande-t-elle des groupes sanguins ? Je suis un O-. Dites-elle.

It was a good thing he was used to needles. Years on the battlefield had left him with many gruesome memories. And a few scars. On the arm where he had raised up the sleeve were small dot sized scars. Apparently it wasn't his first time donating blood. The better part was that he wasn't anemic either.

He paused, looking down at the sketchbook. "Demande-t-elle," he repeated. "Miss Sian, this man says he's type O negative." Once more, he nudged the brunette recruit forward. "Vous devrez ĂȘtre proche d'Einar," said the priest. "Vous aidez la mademoiselle bien, s'il vous plait, merci beaucoup."

At least he was a little bit useful, he thought.
