Yuri forced her smile back on and started to walk, dispite the lightheadedness and dizzyness she felt. Her step was a little off now.
Tsukiko beamed at the thought of lunch and was quick to follow after Keiichi. "Yay! Lunch is soon!"

Oblivious to Yuri's dizziness, Latte continued walking along the stream, a little worried about his mate, but otherwise trying to shrug it off as a small accident that shouldn't require his full attention, as Yuri would wan it.
"Lunch, lunch," Keiichi chanted the words out loud in a sing-songy voice, walking with a slight spring in his step. "Tsuki and Keiichi want lunch~"

Yuri continued walking, trying hard as she could to keep focused on the path ahead. Right paw, left paw. Right paw, left paw... The edges of her vision began to grow dark, and she felt as if she was being lifted out of her body. In reality, she had passed out and rolled into the icy stream.
Tsukiko hummed happily, staying ahead of her mother until she heard a splash. She looked back curiously, and her mouth dropped and her eyes went wide. "Oka-sama!" She shrieked as she saw her mother.

Latte twitched as he heard his daughter's shriek, turning just in time to see Yuri's body go under the relentless torrent of stream water. Pushing all caution aside, he leapt after his mate, struggling to keep his head above the water as steam rose rapidly from the stream water. Gritting his teeth, he pulled her head out of the water, and frantically tried to paddle while holding her by his teeth.
Keiichi stared in confusion before his befuddled mind finally made sense of all the commotion. His thoughts only on his mother, he ran to the edge of the stream, holding out his small paw to his father who was bravely fighting the current.

Yuri's body was swept under the waves and she would have drowned if not for Latte. Because of him, her head lay limply on the top of the water.
Tsukiko sat on the edge of the stream, crying and screaming.

Grunting with the effort of fighting against the current and the extra, sodden weight of Yuri, Latte strained to reach the riverbank. Giving a final push, his feet touched the muddy bottom of the stream and he dragged himself up and just lay there panting for a few moments, trying to catch his breath. "Check...on...her..." he wheezed as he lay by the bankside.
"Ka-san, ka-san," Keiichi wailed as his limp and seemingly lifeless mother finally rose out of the water. He hurried over to her side, and, feeling her cold fur, buried his nose in her fur and cried.

Yuri lay limp on the side of the river, the only sign of life showing in a steady rise and fall of her chest.
Tsukiko joined her brother next to their mother, pushing against her cold fur and whimpering. "Oka-sama... Oka-sama..."

Latte wearily lifted his head to let his eyes rest on his mate, lying sodden on the riverbank. The ordeal in the current had sapped him of his strength, but he still managed to find the willpower to drag himself over to warm her.
"She's so cold..." Keiichi said hopelessly, desperately trying to will some of his warmth into her limp body.

Yuri's face, which had appeared paler and in pain, seemed to calm and regain it's color in the warmth given to her by her mate, and her breathing seemed to become deeper and calmer.
Tsukiko pawed at her mother, pushing her shoulder. "Wake up..." She moved to her head and took an ear in her mouth, lightly gnawing on it and pulling. "We ea- -ow. -ome!" She said though the fur.

"Come on," Latte muttered to himself as he gritted his teeth together. He could feel his firepower weakening, but he continued to struggle to bring warmth to his mate's cold body. As if his prayer was being answered, she stopped breathing in short, ragged, gasps, and her breaths became longer and more peaceful.
Out of the corner of his eye, Keiichi, watched his sister try to wake his mother up, so he redoubled his efforts in warming her up. "Ka-san," he breathed lightly into her other ear. "Please wake up!"

Yuri's breathing conitnued in a slow pace, but seemed to stop all together for a moment. Then her eyes squinted, and one slowly opened up, then the other. Both closed for a few moments before opening again, and she coughed up some water.
Tsukiko's ears flicked up with her mothers eyes, and she jumped back, worried she might mess somethign up.

Latte held his breath as he saw Yuri's eyelids flutter; it was definitely a good sign that she was coming to. Almost as if afraid to send her back into her previous state, he backed away a little, leaving only Keiichi by his mother's side.
"You're awake!" Keiichi nearly shouted out loud, remembering at the last moment that his mother still wasn't in a very stable condition. He smiled to himself and continued to work on her getting her warmed up.

Yuri continued to cought for a while before she covered her mouth and looked around. "Wha- what happened?" She asked confused. She couldn't remember anything since she had blacked out.
Tsukiko smiled as her mother talked, and heasitantly walked over next to Keiichi.

"You fell into the stream, Yuri," Latte told her as gently as possible. "I brought you back out and you've been lying here since. But don't worry, you'll be fine in no time." He smiled at her, relieved that she was finally awake.
Keiichi grinned, pushing Tsukiko a little closer to their mother. "Come on, Tsuki, let's go make mama feel better!" he whispered into her ear.

yuri's face looked blank. She couldn't beleive that she had just put her children through something like that, it made her feel horrible. 'I'm... so sorry...'
tsukiko looked at Keiichi. 'What if we make mama worse?'
