"It was....vague. No future is certain...so there are many paths one could take." He wanted to shuffle away from the contact, but did not want to hurt Nick. ....Hurt him? He was virtually indestructible. No...it was more like... disappoint him. He stayed where he was, though he hunched lower, hoping Nick would believe he was just down about the prediction. Looking up to him he gave him a wiry smile. "So...what would...you like to do tonight?"

If Nori could read Nick's mind the answer he wanted to say to his question, he'd be scurrying for cover under the nearest boulder and refusing to budge. Instead, he reluctantly moved his paw back with a small unintentional sigh, wishing he could go back to the night before. It'd been a good night, and he hoped for better ones in the future...if one got his drift.

"Every choice we make affects what lies ahead, big or little. Like you said, no future is set in stone, but I'm sure you'll make the right ones. As for my choices..." He paused for a moment, considering the sky, before giving his answer. "First, to hunt, then perhaps...we can do some real exploring about this area. For the short time we've been here, I've not really done that, and I think it's about time we did. While I don't sense anything evil out there, if one does not include me.." he glanced at Nori with a little smirk and purr, "..but I'd still like to get a better feel for the land around, perhaps better for us both."

Standing up, he took a moment to stretch his long lean body, giving one more large yawn before touching Nori's shoulder with the back of one paw playfully. "I'll be back soon...if you feel the need, go ahead and nap if you want. It'll help you stay awake till dawn easier," he suggested before adding quickly, "I'm not leaving you." Smiling down at his soul mate, he paused for a moment as he debated nuzzling him much as Nori had him the evening before, his reluctance to leave obvious, but he couldn't bring Nori with him. Again, he softly repeated with a loving purr that he'd return soon, and so ran out into the night. Once outside the cave, he leapt towards the sky and winged off in the form of a black owl.

Time passed and Nick tried his best to do little things to show Nori he appreciate him, that he was loved, but even with reading his mind the task seemed daunting to prove that he wouldn't hurt Nori, or at least would do his best to hurt him as little as possible. However, now that the truth was out, Nick found things alot harder to bear and became ever more reluctant to leave his side, at least until urged to by Nori. He still tried to give Nori his space, but could no longer stop himself from giving a carress now and then, the passion growing inside every moment of every day. Seemed if Nori didn't do something soon, Nick would, and he feared what might happen at that point.

The young slave watched his master go with a slight tinge of surprise. Had Nick just purred at him? Probably returning yesterday's gesture....right? Either way, he decided to follow with the suggestion to nap, curling up with a smile. His master would return for him. Of that he was sure.

Days went by as a blur. The light hours were spent mostly sleeping, but also watching over Nick, always by his side. They explored the area near their home by night. There was a river and more caves, explored a few. As each night passed the young slave noted the increase in physical caresses. While he shied away from them at first he saw the underlying longing Nick suppressed. He would only let his master torture himself for so long. So with a mental rolling of his eyes he set to wait until his master returned from the hunt one night soon after...

Nick was a bit frustrated, not only cause of his increased needs to be near Nori, and of wondering if Nori would ever realize he wanted this verses thinking he was doing it out of some whacked sense of duty to a guy who was (ironically, in one sense) more slave to him than a master, but another thing: He realized that all males of his kind always found their lifemate in a female. One could think of it as the idea of 'furthering the species' since it was rare for a couple to give birth and even harder for the babies to survive, but he'd found his lifemate was male. Not that he was complaining in the least, but just confused. Maybe it was a God's whacked idea of a cosmic joke on his race?

His hunt completed for another night, he was winging his way home trying to sort through these thoughts but finding no ready answers. There were no stories that he knew of that this had happened to others, to give him some sort of guidance, but overall, he was content with the idea of making the best of the situation. After all, what else could one do when your soul's other half is the same gender BUT accept it?

Coming in for a landing, he flapped his wings to decrease his speed before shifing forms and landing as a lion. Shaking himself, he took a moment to look around and stared up at the stars as if seeking his answers there. Finding no new inspiration, he sighed, took a deep breath and entered the cave on silent paws. "What should we do tonight, Nori?" he asked to help announce his presence, and wondering if he'd make him jump again. It amused him to see him jump in fright every time he came home, not cause of cruelty, but cause he actually found it cute and a bit endearing.

Nick was not met with a jump. No. This time he was met with a smirk and half-lidded eyes. "I do wonder..." Nori stood and walked right straight up to him, purring low as he rubbed against him. "What would you really like to do..." He nuzzled his neck, pressing the rest of himself close. "I have a few ideas..."

Nick was at first in shock, having expected absolutely nothing of the sort having not touched Nori's mind in the last few hours. However, it was short-lived as his body and bottled-up passions took over and the dominant aspect of his species took control. Still he was gentle with his soul mate as he led him back towards the bed of leaves...

*fade to black for a time....like all night* XD

During the night, however, Nick performed what is the first of three exchanges by first erotically biting Nori's neck and drinking enough of his blood for a true exchange, and sealing the wounds with his tongue before opening a wound in his chest and with his mind forcing Nori to drink of his own blood without realizing what was happening. This first exchange would give Nick the ability to touch Nori's mind (and not only that, but they could converse telepathically) no matter how far apart they were, and know where he was, and vice versa, while also increasing Nori's physical senses. Once complete, Nick healed his own wound and we fade once more to black...

By the time Nori woke the next day it was long passed noon. He'd long overslept, but he was lazy to get up now. Deliciously sore and not wanting to move, he curled up closer to Nick. Ok so the night before had been comparatively the best of that kind of night he'd ever had. The whole "willing" thing seemed to be a rather large part of enjoying oneself. He had a weird, coppery taste in his mouth, but he paid little attention to it. With last night as it had been he was going to have to reassess things.

With a content sigh and a purr he replayed the night before in his mind.

Nick was sound asleep, for the first time truly content and happy. While he was still somewhat surprised by Nori's welcome home, they had worn each other out, but Nick had remained awake watching his soul mate sleeping. He wondered what Nori would think, and if things had changed for the better. Still, he had a feeling that last night was a turning point in their relationship, what lie ahead was still up to Nori in the end. When dawn came, he greeted it with a smile even as he dozed off finally in peaceful slumber.

Strangely not hungry, Nori did not go on the hunt. Eventually thinking he should do something he stretched and went out, deciding this was a good time to collect new 'bedding'. He winced in the sunlight, which appeared to be extremely bright for no reason. Maybe it was due to his living in a dark cave. Who knew? He shuffled off, ignoring the sun and seeking fresh, fallen leaves.

He took his time and actually collected a few flowers and tossed them into the pile of 'bedding'. It was just a little something he'd learned along the way. As their bodies crushed the flowers their scents would be released, creating a fresh aroma around them. Of course he was thinking of the previous night. He was still thinking on it as he counted the time until his master awoke, depositing the new bedding near where his master slept.

And eventually Nick did finally awaken, hungry (as the night before had taken quite a bit out of him), but otherwise content and hoping for a bit more action tonight. He certainly wouldn't mind that welcome home happening alot more in the future. "Nori...." he purred, looking on his lifemate and letting himself truly enjoy what he saw. Whether the whole 'my life mate is male' was a fluke of nature for him, last night had been wonderful and he decided the why no longer mattered. All that did was them joining their lives together, eventually. Licking his lips, he smiled and added, "Have you been awake long?"

His ears perked at his name. Nick was awake! He left the new bedding as it was and turned to him with a smile....and had his eyes zero in on the lip licking gesture. (*mental purr*) "Only long enough to be productive. I got new bedding, since we crushed the last bit of life out of those." (And maybe quite possibly will be crushing these too tonight?)

He might be sore, but he'd be damned if that stopped him from letting his master have his so-called wicked way with him. Besides...they had this new bedding to break in. (*insert in-the-gutter mental images here*)

Nick yawned and stretched, pleased with Nori's attitude though he had to admit he was a bit worried how he might take the news of the exchange he'd done the night before...probably best he let him know before he did another and the real problems began. He decided the probably the best way to butter him up was begin crushing the life out of the bedding he'd just brought. (*insert more than just mental-in-the-gutter images here*)

Sometime later, long before dawn was coming, Nick lay with his head on Nori's chest, purring and too content to do much more than enjoy the moment right then. Mentally, he touched Nori's mind, filling it with happy satisfaction and a bit of curiosity before asking, If I may be so bold...what caused this change? Not that I'm complaining in any sense at all..just still surprised.

Nick would promptly find himself deposited on the floor as a rather freaked out Nori shot wide-eyed looks throughout the cave. His fur was standing on end, and his ears pulled back in fear. He had no idea that the voice that sounded so much like Nick really was Nick. Instead he was trying to make sense of having a voice suddenly start talking in his head out of nowhere.

What the hell was that? Am I going out of my mind? Where's it coming from? Am I actually hearing voices now? Why does it sound like Master? What brought this on? I've finally gone mad! Now? Why now when I'm finally delivered something good? His thoughts went on as such, all the while his claws gripped the dirt beneath his paws like anchors to what was real.

Nick was shocked to find himself on the ground, at first wondering if something had come in while he was occupied and and winced when he realized something vital...he'd never told Nori of the first exchange and it's side effects. Still he didn't pause long, instead reaching out to comfort Nori with both mind and body. Nori...Nori, calm down, you're not going crazy, I promise. "Everything's okay....I didn't mean to frighten you like that...it's okay, just calm down..."

Calm down? Not any time soon. He stared up at Nick now, eyes wide. "You. It's you. You're in my head now. Why are you in my head? HOW are you in my head?" His body was so tense it trembled.

Calm down? CALM DOWN? How the hell am I supposed to calm down when HIS VOICE IS IN MY HEAD? How can he possibly be doing this?"
