"True true." He grinned then thought about the question he was just asked. "Well it depends what one you ask. Sometimes we are following around something. Sometimes we are just wandering." He flicked his tail a little before frowning but only for a moment. "But I have to say that I love every moment of it. I think even after I leave I will still wander and watch others."

Kirinketsu thought about that for a moment and then said, "Watch others? Watch others do what - grow up? Are you going to be the world's first roaming grandfather or something?" Personally, Kirinketsu found this to be ironic. After all, in the beginning, Spod had said that he'd wanted a home. But now he said he wanted to travel. Kirin gave an internal shrug. Whatever - sometimes people couldn't make up their minds and he understood that.

"Well watch families of dragonflies and stuff. To learn how they react to different things. I like losing a pup, or a parent or something." He flicked his tail a little then picked the leaves from it. "Well I don't really want to do it and might start going off on my own. But that is how I grew up." He nodded and blow some hair out of his eyes.

Kirinketsu gave a nod and said, "Yeah ... I get it. Old habits die hard, or so they say." He smiled and added, "I'm not really sure what I want to do when I get older. Of course I'll keep traveling, but maybe I'll actually have a conclusion in mind by that time." Kirinketsu hated to use the word "destination" due to something his mother had always said. She used to travel before she'd met his Dad and she always said, "Destination is a state of mind. As any traveler knows, it is not the end of the journey that is important, but the journey itself."

Spod watched the other dragonflies for a moment. "Well traveling lets you see everything, but finding a place to stop is always nice. But I think even if I wanted to stop I couldn't." He shrugged for a moment but grinned. "Can't tell until I'm older what will happen. And you will not know until your older."

Kirinketsu gave a smile and a nod and said, "As they say, tomorrow never knows." He grinned and then, suddenly and without warning, began to cough. The coughing was harsh, as though it came from deep in the chest. He coughed thrice and then stopped, a fluorescent green paw to his throat as he took deep, shuddering breaths. He smiled a shaky smile at Spod and swallowed thickly, ignoring the copper burn of tasting his own blood.

Spod watched wide eyed as the green dragonfly started to cough. By the sound of it, it didn't sound good and also sounded painful. "Are you alright?" His voice was low almost scared that if he spoke to loud his friend would start coughing again.

Kirinketsu took another deep breath and discreetly ran his tongue over his front teeth. It wouldn't do at all for him to smile at his friend while blood coated his jaws. It wouldn't be reassuring at all. In fact, it would probably make him look even sicker. And if he looked too sick, his friend would leave him, repulsed by his weakness. And he couldn't let that happen - he'd already lost too much that way.
He smiled a seemingly happy smile at Spod and said lightly, "Yeah - I'm fine. Sorry about that; I've had a spot of a cough for the past week or so." He spoke flippantly, as though the matter were trivial.

Spod watched his friend and until he said something. His words were meant for him not to worry but the smell that came off the green dragonfly's breath made him think other wise. "Are you sure you are ok?" He asked carefully watching for any sign to appear on his friend's face. He was worried and wouldn't stop worrying now that he could feel something wrong. "Because, sorry to say, I don't believe you."

Kirinketsu smiled another cheerful smile, one that turned his eyes into happy crescents, and said, "Oh yeah, I'm fine. It's just a little cold; that's all." He cocked his head to the side, still smiling; his face was the very picture of curious innocence. He asked lightly, "You don't believe me? How come? People get colds all the time."

Spod's mind was around the fact that he was lieing, he just knew his new friend was lieing to him. But why? Taking in a slow breath he watches the green teen. "Well first of all, I can smell blood on your breath. It was not there before when we were talking. Second is because of the cough, it doesn't sound like a normal cold cough." He was frowning now and didn't take his eyes off of his friends. "I have studied others for most of my life. I can tell when something is not right. I'm worried about you, and don't want you to get hurt or anything."

Kirinketsu blinked, feigning innocence as he bit back a bitter, near-hysterical laugh. How ironic! His new friend was a studious one! His new friend knew he was lying! How hilarious that he was worried for the safety of one whose body was trying to destroy him! Kirinketsu smiled again and said, "Well, it does sound like you know your stuff." He gave a shrug and then said, "In that case, let's just call me a liar."

Spod took in a deep breath and tried to calm himself. He never liked when others lied because it meant they were hiding something. "Look, I'm worried about you. That cough is not normal, or is the face that you are coughing up blood and trying to hide it. Please just tell me what is wrong? How long has this been happening to you?"

Kirinketsu fought back another bitter laugh. Suddenly, it hit him - no matter how he responded now, Spod would leave him. If he continued to lie, Spod would leave out of anger. If he told the truth, Spod would leave out of disgust. What did he have to lose?
Kirin's eyes glinted in the sunlight as he looked up at the sky and chuckled, a bitter, hurt sound. He asked, "How long? You want to know how long?" He looked back at Spod, his eyes hard with some sort of inner pain. "My entire life. That's how long."

Spod shifted and thought for a while. This dragonfly had been sick his whole life? That must be a hard thing to live with and to keep going. A small smile appeared on his face as he looked away. "I must be hard living with that for all of your life. But it shows that you have a strong will to want to see more of this world." He looks back at him still smiling a little. "More will then I have. Most dragonflies that I see sick, just give up on everything. It is the ones that don't give up that will be able to over come there own body one day."
Spod flicked his tail a little in thought. "Makes me want to stay around and try to help you out..."
